Off The Rails Brewing Co Sunnyvale Reviews
Off The Rails Brewing Co is a great place to grab some food for lunch, or head there after work to share a drink. The interior is huge, with a bar and tables downstairs, and more seating available upstairs. Unlike other bars and pubs, the lighting is brighter, rather than keeping it dimly lit. While I've only eaten off of their "social plate" menu (tacos, I've had all of their tacos), all of their food looks great. I've enjoyed all the flavors of their tacos (pictures of all 3 uploaded as well), and they're willing to accommodate my requests for extra cilantro, so they're getting an A+ for that. The "spicy chicken" is more of a flavor spice, than a heat spice. All in all a great place. I've seen a number of families here as well, since it's not a rowdy place, and they have seating that's away from the bar it works nicely.
Good beer, food and friendly service - what's not to like! Dropped in last time I visited Sunnyvale (from Australia), enjoyed it so thought I'd drop by again. Fried chicken burger and calamari were both great and well priced. Started on the tropical IPA. All good so far. Happy hour is 4-6pm. Definitely be back next time I'm over.
Like the style of the place. The beer takes a 5 star for me it had different styles depending on your pallet. I enjoy a breweries that have a small variety of drink but so different from each other. Food we had the Cowboy sandwich and Diablo burger super good recommended by the bar tender. Dante helped us choose the beer and Haley talked to us about the food. Is a Go Back to place and try more things off the menu. YES the beer and food menu.
Not sure why people had complained about the service here… these peeps accommodated me quickly with outdoor seating for me and my pup, took order quickly and the beer (Rye IPA) was wonderful! I ordered the Barbacoa Tacos and oh wow they were incredible!! and the food came out fast! the service was great and when I’m ever back in Sunnyvale I will definitely come here again !
I popped in during the afternoon to grab lunch and a beer while I worked. It was quiet slow but my waitress was very attentive (until her shift ended). The salad I had was loaded with big chunks of veggies, chicken, bacon, tomatoes and cucumbers. I don't remember what it was called but it was delicious. While the beer selection is not huge, it does have something for everyone. I had a couple flights and tried most of the beers - the hazy IPA and the raspberry Saison were my favorite.

Great bar with a friendly bartender who is happy to make things not on the menu. The salsa and chips with guacamole was delicious, the sausage plate was a little too charred for my taste.

I stopped in Saturday right after lunch so it wasn’t busy, which is fine in my opinion. Their beer was excellent and I’d go back just for that. I had the Cajun Garlic Fries which were pretty tasty and then the Roasted Beet Salad which again was pretty tasty although beets should be in season. So why did it seem like these beets were not? It was a good salad. Where they lacked was service, I was the only one at the bar. Why was service so lacking? When she was there she was great!
Great happy hour prices! Can't go wrong with a Moscow Mule or a Margarita from here. The drinks aren't overly sweet and they don't skimp on the alcohol either. Food portions are pretty big here! Like... impressively big - at least from looking at other orders of nachos and fries. I got the Buffalo Chicken Wings, which were pretty good! Not too heavy on the vinegar, but they were spicy! Very saucy as well.
A couple pints and some finger foods ... all of it was pretty good. In particular, the mushroom empanadas were very tasty. The chicken wings were also good but they are basted in that thick, sticky, sweet sauce, so you gotta like that. Fried calamari was light and fluffy. Beers on tap of several varieties. Service was fast to start, but we ordered the calamari in the "second batch" and they took 20+ minutes. Not cool. But this has a real brew pub atmosphere and there are games on the tv's. Pretty cool hangout spot.
Went there on a friday night; good food options as well as quality for vegetarians too and the drinks were good too and overall a fun place to visit. They accommodate us inside despite dogs as the outside tables available had no shade and constant tree-dripping. We got our food ridiculously late though and while we were told during sitting down it'd be a 10-15 extra minute wait, our food came over 40 mins extra late!
Great selection of draft beers with bar bites and burgers. We tried the Brewer's Burger with the Secret Sauce and the Garden Burger. The Hibiscus Margarita is a must try at this place. The staff is attentive and courteous. The place has a bar ambience with an outdoor-patio seating in the buzzing Murphy Avenue in Sunnyvale. Recommendation to owner to add plant based options to the menu.
Happy hours are until 6pm weekdays. Platter contains garlic spicy fries, nachos and pretzel bite. Pitcher was enough to two rounds between 3 folks. Price is reasonable. There is plenty indoor and outdoor seating.
Went there for drinks and dinner. It is a popular place so make reservations. We asked for a table at the back (where the band plays) but were seated in the front. Was a bit irked by that but I guess there was a mix up. As the name suggests, lots of beer options. A couple in my party got IPAs and was very good. I got the Cadillac Margarita and then the Smoky one - the second one they messed up 2 times, gave me a non alcoholic drinks 😃. No big deal, the host was apologetic and corrected the problem. That was it - all smooth flowing. Almost all food was great ... Got the nacho fries, sea salt fries, pretzel buns - not healthy choices but tasted great. For entrees got the tri tip burger, Mac and cheese, spicy chicken sandwich, etc. All good.
It was a pretty big location and in an excellent spot. The beer menu wasn't super large, but it did have a bunch of style options. I ordered their Hazy IPA and it was fine, kinda sweet for me though I think. I'd probably go back to try some food if in the area, but wouldn't make it a destination trip.
Good place for lunch or to hang out with friends for a few beers especially Commuter IPA that is very good. I like sitting by the bar having a couple of beers while watching the games. I had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and it’s pretty delicious.
We enjoyed our dinner and beers out on the patio. The service was excellent. I had the chicken schnitzel, which was ok. The spaetzle was amazing. Though I was worried about sauerkraut on the same plate, it was flavorful without leaking vinegar onto my meal. My husband enjoyed the gumbo. The porter was nothing special, but we each enjoyed an IPA. We will be back the next time in town.

Typical bar food- the nice thing about this place is the environment- they have a nice outdoor sitting area in the back with live musicians and an upstairs with pool tables and etc. good for bringing some friends and hanging out I’m sure. The food was just okay- the fries were too thick and the shrimp was too small- like eating more fried than shrimp. The beets salad had a little too much dressing
This spot has gone through a number of iterations over the past 25 years and, quite frankly, has made a slow, continual decline. The beer is fine but not inspired and the food is mediocre. Time for a reboot and a more exciting menu. With some many food options and so much opportunity, this seems like a missed chance. Would only return if they give it a major refresh

Here for trivia. We ordered starters: pretzel bites and onion rings. Do NOT order the pretzel bites, it comes with 6 tiny bites for $10. The onion rings were good

I want to love this place. Local beer? Awesome! The beer is great! I would recommend you try the reds for sure if you come here. The menu is not accurate to what are on them items received. Many items on the menu will come with ingredients not stated. Be warned for all food allergy concerns. The fries come with cheese which is not listed on the menu. Enjoy if you can!
Came by around 7:30PM on a Wednesday evening. Inside and outside seating, maybe half full (me being generous, could have very well been a third full). Two of us ordered: -lazy hazy $9 pints -brewers burgers $18 -fried chicken sandwich $17 We sat at the bar. Beer was a bit flat to me. Server was nonexistent. After 30 min or so, our server came by and apologized for the wait and food was on the way soon...another 30 min (an hour now). We realized food still wasn't here...I had to call for the server since she was non-existent...then I let her know that if the food wasn't coming within a few min, that we would just leave...she checked and sandwich was available, burger was an extra 5-7 min. Food was ok at best...wait was ridiculous and without communication is what really ruined the meal. A different person closed out my tab...and apologized for wait. I asked what the issue was and he mentioned it was short staff. If food was going to take an hour long, we would have went elsewhere. Staff should have communicated this out from the start. Person closing out the tab did take 25% off, but still not worth it at all. Parking is difficult during peak hours. Probably shouldn't have tipped...but whatever. Won't be coming back.
