Primo's Tehachapi Reviews
I used to go to the Primos down in Mojave when I was working over there for the chorizo burritos. I haven't had one in a few years and the one I had recently was like an old friend I hadn't seen in awhile. Best salsa in town, and it goes with that burrito perfectly. My wife had the carne asada burrito and it's a definitely order again. Primos has a great menu and the food is always awesome.
This was a great place. The breakfast burrito I ordered was delicious and the service was fast and pricing reasonable. I bought two breakfast burritos and two coffees and only paid 26 dollars. That's cheaper then what I pay for in the cal city primos
Good food and a lot of it. Very reasonably priced.
Great place, last time I ate there, some years ago, it was Good. Food Prices are too High for Me.
i used to go here every wednesday when i first moved to t-town and ive moced back two half years later and had to stop by forsure for their food yum!
Great little family owned business. If you want a small town feel this is the place to come. It also happens to be a historic building which is a little perk to see when you come dine in. Service may not be great, the food may be a little greasy; however, the overall experience is something else. Don't go in expecting anything and let yourself be surprised by all the little things.
My mother's and auntie Jean favorite place to eat so it was fun to visit. Mom's past but it stands true that the mushrooms we're amazing good. But I guess I'd have to say that I don't know if I've had better onion rings, zucchini fries or anything else on the list. Please consider visiting this place, you will NOT find a better place to dine.
The food is always great & the service is too!
Ordered fries extra well done, they were perfection, great little mountain spot.
I went in late morning and got an order of zucchini,it was hot ,fresh tasting, ranch dressing was good.service was friendly and fast! Price was very reasonable and the order was abundant.would recommend to anyone and I am definitely going back for burger or burrito.
We stopped in for a late lunch. Food was tasty and just what we wished for. Service friendly and fast. We'll be back!
Great place to eat. Good staff. Good choices. Been eating there for years. Try the Nachos with carne asada...I'd say they are in the top two in town for the best Nachos. It'll feed two healthy adults...get two Fountain drinks and you have a good lunch for two under $20. Good burgers also...if you don't want the carbs they can lettuce-wrap it , add cottage cheese instead of fries...oh..but extra crunchy fries are hard to pass up. Really cool is Primo Burgers is set-back in an old "Western" Mo'tif style building. Parking isn't the best...its limited right next to the front door but plenty of parking on the street with other stores within a city block(several antique shops, movie theater thats getting ready to open back up, local gun shop, two gas stations, am/pm's, Drama Theater, Etc).
A bit stuffy and old inside but the food was phenomenal, a must stop everytime I'm in town now. Incredible pirtion sizes so you'll probably be fine to share. Zucchini fries were spot on, steak fries were amazing & the steak sandwich was what I was hoping for.
Been going here since I was a kid. I love it. My favorite is the asada fries. Those fresh jalapenos just do it for me.🤤 The staff is friendly and the vibe is nostalgic. I should've taken a picture of the asada fries before I tore in, but my back is big.
For value great food big portions and the feeling you just spent money wisely. Primos is your place.

Primo Burgers is my favorite place intown to get breakfast all day. From pancakes to burgers and burritos. This is where you need to get your quick hunger fixation!
We go here a lot for breakfast. Their special - 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage - $6.99 (before 10 am). Good service, self serve coffee and refills. Regular and flavored creamer. Good burgers and fries.
Primo has the best burgers. I enjoy their steak whether it be with eggs for breakfast or a nice piece of meat. Love them onion rings. Many time we order the night before, for the van pool , and get breakfast burritos. Recorder 8 to 10 burritos. Most of the orders have requests. Like no salsa or light hash browns, primo always gets it right. We arrive in the morning and burritos are hot and ready
Classic old school "Western" theme dinner . Great food! Perfect stop while waiting on laundry at the "wash tub" 😄 The resh strawberry lemonade is great to. Son didn't want to stop eating to let me take a picture of his cheeseburger 😂 Hubs loves the lamb Gyros & my daughter and I loved the croissant breakfast sandwiches.
A secluded gem off the main road. The food was very good. The employees were Very nice. We asked for a substitute for the fries and she gave us a wonderful salad. Generous. We don't live in Tehachapi, but we'd definitely eat there again. Added bonus, the street fair is on Thursdays.
My husband and I have been regulars since we were teens. I love coming here and getting a yummy burger and fries. Or there breakfast combos are pretty good too! Sometimes, the food can be a little bit of a miss, but that is a rare occurrence. I feel so welcomed whenever I go. Will continue being a regular 💛
This place has the best value breakfast in town! And coffee less than $2! You can't even get that price at the gas station these days. They have a great loyal customer base that, if you catch them early enough, tell great stories from their youth.
Literally the best zucchini fries of all time.
You won’t find a better burger for the price anywhere in California. Have had a few, the Primo Best my fav but frisco a close second. Huge menu and service second to none. Definitely worth a drive up to beautiful Tehachapi for great food and company

I’ve only eaten here for break and I usually get their breakfast burrito. It’s often pretty good but sometimes there are too many hash browns so I usually just ask for light hash browns.
Would be a 5 but every time we come in they never have clean tables or clean floors under the tables.
Sweet little place off the main drag, loved the Old school style, and vintage decor. Food was good. Communication good. Took a few minutes longer due to a big order previously Curious Saturday, Nice Weather No one really in the place, and the girl taking the orders was on the phone a lot. Id probably give it one more shot.. ☺️😁
Good food overall, sometimes its hit or miss but mostly good items. My favorite thing to order is the fried zuchinni. My only qualm is the speed. I ordered ahead so I could just pick it up and go but when I got there they said they would start making it. So I guess it's good that it's fresh but I waited some time for my food to be ready. For dine in, it's very reasonable though
We were in Tehachapi on vacation on a Saturday. Wanted a burger. Found this cool little place that had a nice variety on the menu. Doesn’t look like much, but service was excellent and the food was solid. Very good burger and solid fries. Prices were good. Very glad we stopped in. Worth the visit!
Super fun aesthetic, great priced burgers, and very good fries!
Nice and cozy, friendly with a variety of favorites. Menudo on weekends, my favorite

We do like the zucchini fries. Unfortunately, this last time we got them, I specifically asked for ranch dressing and was told it was in the bag. It was not there. Disappointing.
For the most part the food is always good sometimes the ranch tastes a little funky. But that could just be my taste buds

Please take this as constructive criticism. A place called Primo Burgers should have primo burgers. My lettuce was a thick as my meat patty. I ask for mustard but I didn’t mean I wanted it dipping down my hand and arm.
Scary place to eat you feel like you're in a horror movie set lol They put a damn Kraft slice cheese single on my burrito! like come on lol
Drink Glasses have gotten smaller and prices have gotten alot Higher. Fries don't come with your burger/sandwiches unless you order a Combo. Tables weren't cleaned between customers. Have to ask for silverware. Why is this happening to one of my favorite places?
It wasn't horrible but it wasn't delicious either. Frisco burger was kinda bland with a very flat burger patty. If you get a soda make sure its bottled because the fountain soda taste so bad like it needs more carbonation & a deep cleaning of the machine its self.
The food was acceptable, but was bland. Both gentleman at the counter were poorly dressed and looked like they hadn't taken the time to practice proper hygiene. The gentleman that took my order was wearing a badly stained T-shirt, and sweatpants. He took out order, and we paid for it, then he informed us that their soda dispenser was out of CO2. This is not even a shadow of what it use to be. The decor is an image of when it was originally established and the newer owners haven't even attempted to update it at all. The booths and chairs are breaking, there's trash on the floor and in the hour we were there, no one bused the tables. We were even offered ketchup for fries. I had to walk to another table that had left and grab it. I should also mention this place is lawsuit waiting to happen. In attempt to cut down their energy they have areas that are dangerously dark. Customer beware

Haven’t been there in years, so decided to try it out again, immediately no. We were trying to decide what we wanted and ask for a couple of minutes then the waitress threw her notepad on the counter and walked away angry, so we decided to just walk out. Maybe it wasn’t her day, but yet again there have been a lot of complaints about waitresses in the past.
The worst experience. I ordered online. I show up and they never received my order. When we finally received, our burgers and small fry, 45 minutes later. They were cold. Also the app I was forced to use app hero charged me $8.00 for small fries that were priced at $3.95.
This place has gone down hill. Who makes chicken tacos with lunch meat and romaine lettuce? Also ordered a Carne asada burrito that came out with a single piece of kraft cheese slapped right on top of the tortilla and had peas and corn inside the burrito. Don't waste your money here.
Hamburger was takeout. But got home and no hamburger, just the rest. LOL! This place I have consistently been giving them the benefit of the dought. But not anymore, I will never return. Goodluck!
They're constantly changing the hours they close. You call and ask the hours for that day, then you come back during the time they said they'd be open, and suddenly they decided to close early. They should be like every other business and have set hours that people can count on and not constantly change based on how they feel at the moment.
I always order my carne asada fries from primo's with avocado. It's never costed me more than $13 this time it was $15.15 and it had two small slices of avocado. Hardly any cheese on it and one little corner of sour cream on it. I'm extremely disappointed it's a different price every single time I go in there but never has it been over $13
I've been a customer of this Primo's for almost 15 years. Every Saturday, like clockwork, I call and order a sausage breakfast burrito to go. I get there ten minutes later, and they usually have it ready, or maybe a short wait. It's never a problem. The counter staff has always been incredibly nice to me, and we often chat and joke while I pay for my food. Today I ordered over the phone my burrito to go, came in a few minutes later, paid for my food and stood to one side to wait for it to be finished, about 5 feet back from the PICK UP window on the left. The place was empty except for a few people at one booth. I'm standing by the menus on the wall, reading them, and the cook steps to the window and gruffly asks, "What are doing there?" He was someone I'd not seen there before. I usually recognize the cooks. I said, "Just waiting for my food." "Well, you need to go sit down." "I'm getting the order to go, so I figure it's easier just to wait near the window. It's no problem." "No, you HAVE to sit down." he actually points to the booths like a school teacher. "I'd just like to stand, I sit a lot all day." I replied, keeping my tone calm. "I'm telling you to SIT OVER THERE!" he says. "What's the problem? I always stand when I'm about to get my order, there's never been an issue. This is the Pick Up window. I ordered my food To Go." Well, he told me to leave and he made the counter lady, who looked ashamed, give me a refund. I said, "I'm going to speak to the owner about this. I've been a good customer for almost 15 years." He smirked and said something that sounded like, "Yeah, good luck with that." If the owner of Tehachapi Primo's reads this, know that as a town local, I've been enjoying your burritos and sometimes onion rings on an almost weekly basis since 2008. Your staff has ALWAYS been fun, friendly, and good at their jobs. I have no idea what this cook's problem was, and I tried repeatedly to ask him why he was throwing me out. He refused to answer and just smirked at me. I have never said this before, but he needs to be fired. He's losing you customers, such as this one. I'll never patronize your restaurant again as long as he's there. Pony Horton, Tehachapi May 13, 2023
I will not be going back again. Service was sub par, food was not cooked correctly or all the way, they over buttered everything to the point it was soggy, had to wipe down the table ourselves which i dont usually mind but for the price we paid and service given it was not remotely worth it. Ive had bad restaurant experience before but never to the point where we were getting sick. Hopefully they turn their business around but i do not plan on going again.
French toast was pretty good I must say. Bacon was flimsy and not good, eggs were alright but how can you really mess that up? Forgot the fries for the junior cheeseburger combo so I had to air fry some quickly for my son (luckily I had some) The real kicker was the slap of a Kraft single slice of cheese on the omelet.. I’m sorry but you have no business making food if you’re using Kraft singles…. Hashbrowns had no flavor. $34 and my husband couldn’t finish his omelet past where they put the Kraft cheese slice. Lady who took my payment was nice, though. Avocado was nicely ripe

I had heard this place was good. Passing by the town, we stopped by to try it out. First, the place looks very old and dirty from the outside; " don't judge a book by its' cover, or the dirtier the place the better the food" I always hear.. Nope! The service and the food sure resembles the way the outside looks. Second, the cashier/server wasn't very friendly and welcoming. My party and I order the chicken fry stake and eggs breakfast platter with the orange juice beverage. I can say the order came out very fast to the table, but everything was super dry, cold and with lack of flavor; like it had been made in advance and just reheated when placing the order. We never got an acknowledgement, to see how the food was tasting and if we needed anything else. We had no greeter when we first walked in, we had no word of greeting when we left that place.. I left leaving my money and the food I order 🤮🤢.
