Village Grill Tehachapi Reviews
Very friendly waitress, Great service and got my favorite salisbury steak with mashed potato with lots of gravy and yummy garlic bread.Barley soup taste good. Salisbury steak not even on the menu, they have to ask the cook happy they can cook for me.
Our server was great. Thank you Celeste. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Need some sausage or bacon in the gravy but it was still good.
Okay, I was honestly surprised at how good the food was at this place. Down home, good food. I had the chili chese fries topped with Carnitas. Mouth water! Our server was so sweet! I really enjoyed myself. I will visit again!
I hadn't been here since 2015. Came up for work and stayed with my brother in law Dave Fox. Went to Village Grill at least once a week. Love the food, great taste immense variety of food. My favorite sirloin steak 🥩🥩🥩 MW, seasoned or regular fries. Loved the service always on top of things. Thank you Village Grill staff for your hospitality.....will try to be back soon
The waitress/server was very attentive and pleasant and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The coffee was good. I never had to wait to have my cup refilled. I ordered the California omelette and a biscuit. They arrived quickly. The omelet was great. The biscuit was a bit too soft for my liking but maybe others like it that way.
On our way back from Arizona to California and we were looking for something to eat for our group of 6. We accidentally stumble across this restaurant, looked at the menu which had a variety of options, and decided to sit down and order. Best decision and best food from our 5 day trip. Great food, great service, quick service, big portions, great pricing, and they offered us samples. Thank you Ivan and staff.
It is a dated diner but I enjoyed that aspect very much. Great service, waitress even deducted my senior discount which I had forgotten to request. Food was fantastic. Hashbrowns are hashbrowns but these were extra tasty. The sunny-side up eggs were the best I've tasted in years. I don't get to Tehachapi much but I always go there for the terrific food and service. Try the Ribeye breakfast special for $19.99. You won't be disappointed.
Came here most mornings back in 91-93 for breakfast. Was excited to stop by on a trip to kings canyon, our server was Duke, super nice and caring, really made sure everything was great and took excellent care of us. Had griddle combo and a sirloin steak. Food was amazing just as I remembered. It's so good when you come back after years and it's just as perfect as it was. Amazing prices for the amount and quality of food! Have no doubts about coming to eat here it's the best!
I was brought to this place in Tehachapi called Village Grill by my parents. It sits on the Blvd near the Dutch bakery. I ordered the Carnitas skillet with eggs over easy. The first dishes I tried. Come with a side of toast, or biscuits and gravy. The atmosphere is friendly country style old school charm sitting in near the mountains. Service was on point and without haste. Now to the good part... the food! I was presented on time with the eggs on top cooked to perfection. The dish also had lots of meat that is slow cooked around 12 hours. The top layer was crispy a little burnt, but the inside melts in your mouth. It was accompanied by melted cheese, and soft potato's with a buttery consistency. It was not greasy. It was cooked on a skillet. I added salt to enhance the flavor. That would be my only complaint. The toast I picked was sourdough. It was toasted and butter perfectly. Once I took a bite, the buttery savory goodness took me back to when I was a kid at my grandma and grandpa's house having breakfast. I will be coming back to try other foods. Price was average of 17 dollars. I highly recommend this hidden gem!
We recently had the pleasure of being in tehachapi for an event we stumbled across the village grill from our own research and then from where we were staying suggested it. I have to say the food was great and the service even exceeded our expectations the best description I can get besides great food and service I felt like we were kind of a little bit in a Hallmark movie we enjoyed tehachapi and we enjoyed The village grill we highly recommend it.
Another home run! The staff is so nice and friendly! Such a great place to stop! Wow. The food was amazing also! Fish and chips were one of the best+ they even let me substitute biscuits and gravy for my toast. Yea yea..I know it sounds gross.. but I was craving it! Check them out if you are in the area!
I have eaten here at least 25 times during the last two decades and never been disappointed. The diner is clean, comfortable, and properly air-conditioned. The menu lists a classic variety of Americana. The service staff are mostly quite pleasant and they're all business when the place is hopping. The bathrooms are spotless and roomy. There is covered patio service when weather permits.
I Have been here 2 times in the last month very good food, price, and home town feel to it. The liver & onions were amazing also enjoyed the Parry Melt.
The food was really good, service was good. My only gripe is that the menu prices shown on Google reviews are at least 5 years old and about almost 40% cheaper than today's prices, so don't expect anything but kids meals to be under $14. Median regular meal price is now $18.99 instead of $13 or$14.
Value for the dollar. Generous portions. Good food. The soups can be very good. Genuine small town independent restaurant with an older vibe. It's not fine dining, but definitely a couple of steps up from Dennys. I had the chicken fried steak, and my wife had catfish. I was definitely in the clean plate club. The cornbread there is lovely. It was a small point, but the green beans were very good. I wish Google reviews had half steps ‐- 4.5 is the right rating here.
They always seem to be understaffed, the prices are insane. For an order of onion rings and a drink it was $20. The food was nothing to write home about but it's certainly not the worst.
Heard a lot of hype about this place. Being new we decided to try it out. We were sat immediately. So yay for that. It was kind of busy. We went for breakfast. Took forever to get our drink order in. Then they forgot one drink. Our Malts were shakes. I ordered coffee. Asked for creamer. I got a coffee cup so full I had to burn my lips to sip it down to add creamer. I finally got my coffee just right and he topped it off. I appreciate tending to coffee drinkers, but this was ridiculous. After about 4 cups of coffee they finally take our order. I get this is a small town and that all the food places are slow, but how is it that tables seated way after us had food and left before we even got our plates? Our food comes and I honestly don't understand what the hype was. The biscuits and gravy tasted like watered flour, and there wasn't even enough "gravy" to cover the biscuits. Eggs weren't cooked to order. I like my whites cooked and yolks runny (over medium). My eggs were so slimy. My toast was burnt. We probably won't be returning. The lady severs seemed real nice, but we didn't get a lady sever. Idk first experience wasn't very good.
This place was horrible every one got sick after we had eaten here we didn’t even save the leftovers we threw them away. We spent so much money here and the food was so bad. It was my first and last time I will ever go there.
DON'T GO!!!! The only thing good there was Tisha, a server, who was not mine. I paid $28, for a steak dinner, salad, baked potato, and garlic bread. The garlic bread and salad were good. The potato was not done, the mixed vegetables were mushy and the steak, which I ordered RARE, (I actually told my server, 'I want the steak still mooing'), was well done. My server, NEVER came to ask about the meal. Took no photos. Phone was barely charges. I might DO NOT recommend this place.
