Delicious Japanese food. Chef and server are Japanese. Very authentic food and service is excellent. Resto is a bit small. It gets full easily so make a reservation or come early. I guess I will be back to try the other dishes.

I learned of Komatsu through Kyokushin Karate sensei Taku. He frequently comes here. Their specialty katsu don. It's very good. Today, I had the hamburg. The katsu don is better. Komatsu also has very good gyutan.

This place consistently hits the spot! If you’re looking for home style Japanese cooking you won’t go wrong by coming here. Their hamburger steak is their specialty and probably the best I’ve had in America

I had a chance to try their hamburg steak and it was beyond describable. The beef was extremely tender and well-seasoned. The demi-glaze tastes like a jacked up bull-dog sauce. The menu is short and sweet. They don’t even have appetizers on the menu, entrees only. This place is definitely a hidden gem. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

This place is a hidden gem in Torrance. A small mom & pop place with some delicious food! We ordered a variety of foods from the Tempura Combo, Black Pork Cutlet (Tonkatsu) with Starchy Egg, Hamburg steak, Miso Flavored Broiled Cod (appetizer) & Rib Eye Beef Steak w/Stamina Sauce. While all were good, the dishes that stood out were the Hamburg Steak, Rib Eye and Miso Cod. This was the only place (out of many) that took reservations for a large party. Ayumi was excellent at getting our orders correct and serving us in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, homey Japanese cuisine.

This place is great it you come at the right time. They open and close on random days.. I am so glad we went here! After so many years of being in Torrance, we tried this place out for the first time and already felt at home here—the restaurant is quaint and charming, and the server was kind. The food was INCREDIBLE. Get the corn tempura! Will change your life possibly. The yam with egg yolk was simple and fresh. Very authentic. We will be coming back! I highly recommend dining in- it really adds to the joy of eating this wonderful food.

Absolute gem. It can be a little hard to spot in the plaza (it's in the same plaza as candy massage and the smoke shop). The food is lovely and the staff are quite nice. I ordered the black pork steak with stamina sauce and it was wonderfully made. I would highly recommend going. The prices are very reasonable for what's included.

Hamburg steak was amazing! Perfectly cooked, juicy, and the sauce is super flavorful. My go to place for a chill lunch / dinner!

This place is Great. First of all, I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you go there for dinner. This place is on the small side, and it fills up quickly. They have a dish there, the "Steak with Stamina Sauce" it is really good. All of the food here is good. This place is like Japanese bar food. It's a good idea to have a bunch of small dishes to try and share, and have a few beers. They have plenty of fish and seafood things. They have udon also. If you are looking for chicken teriyaki, or ramen, or sushi, or whatever you think Japanese food is, this is probably not the spot you want to go to. if you want to try real Japanese food, made by real Japanese folks, for Real Japanese people, then this is the spot to try. come check it out.

The best Japanese soul food you can get in the States. Very detailed and delicate taste. All menus have no short cut including small plate of sea weed or miso soup. I’m pretty sure u will have the most amazing experience there in small tiny restaurant right next to liquor store.

Beautiful, one of a kind, restaurant that belies what it truly offers. Greeted by a sign asking for your patience and forgiveness as we collectively navigate Chef’s bad eyes… Come with an open heart. Read the “secret” menu, handwritten on the walls, with rough translations scrawled underneath in a gesture of care and love for the local community. In exchange for your patience, you will enjoy traditional comfort food that will bring you nearly to tears, or at least cause you to shut your eyes and smile: flavors and dishes you cannot enjoy with such intimacy, wordless empathy, and collectivism, nearly anywhere else. You get the sense, while sitting there, that we are all on borrowed time. It makes me cherish every bite and minute 💜 thank you Hiroshi Komatsu 💜

Never tried tempura style food before Komatsu. Got spoiled with the clean and simple food presentation. Tasty and crisp. Hours of operation little strange, call to make sure they are open, before you plan to go there.

Best katsudon ever! Love their perfectly fried katsu which somehow stays hot and crispy even with the eggy soupy delicious sauce on top. So good. Rice is fluffy and perfect as well.

This is one of those hidden gem mom and pop places. It can get very crowded here so be prepared to wait. There are locals that have been coming here for years so if it's busy and you're new there is a good chance you may be put on the back burner if you need anything. Just a heads up if you're flying in solo for a quick bite it's $20 min to use your card. Not hard to hit that amount here though.

They only used to cater to local TOYOTA and HONDA business men. When Toyota moved, finally realized they needed to serve the "normal" customer better and with respect. Don't expect a great service. The food was a typical Japanese dishes, enough to satisfy the Japanese food craving.

I visited at lunch time. I ordered Oyster fry meal. Deep fried oyster was good. Miso soup contains lots of umami ingredients and one of the best miso soup around there. However, their handling both server and kitchen doesn't work well and it took much time to get eat. If you wish to go and want to have meal quickly, I strongly recommend you to visit around 11:30am. Seats are limited.
