The Burrito Poblano Tuckahoe Reviews
Great local Mexican food with great ambiance. Big upgrade over the original. Menu has expanded and includes weekend brunch!
Very delicious and authentic food. First time in will be back.
Random first stop and could not be more pleased the food is authentic and delicious. A must if in the area. Had the carnitas tacos and they were perfect.
I had the nachos and they were absolutely delicious! Service was excellent! Definitely will come back!
My friend and I went to Burrito Poblano for an afternoon lunch on September 26, 2025. We started off with Queso Fundito with Queso de Chihuahua, and we added Chorizo. As our main choice, I had the Frajitas with Chicken and my friend the Enchiladas with Mole. The food was fabulous! Fresh ingredients, very large portions, and very tasty. Yes, yummy! This is an authentic style Mexican restaurant. I ate my leftover Frajitas for my Saturday breakfast... WOW, delicious when reheated! I have ordered take out and delivery before, yet what a great sit-down restaurant. Great music, not too loud. The service was excellent. Those that complained about high prices... these are the times we are in, yet the portions are large and very generous. We both ordered a burrito to take home. I believe in supporting local businesses, and Burrito Poblano is absolutely one of them. This restaurant is a must for great food!
Always our go-to place for a date night. The service is great, they’re all very nice and the food and drinks are amazing. Love it, so would absolutely recommend it !
This place is spectacular for tex mex. Take out is excellent, but if you eat there the atmosphere is awesome. They have cool murals on the walls and a great southwest feel. Also has a particularly extensive whiskey selection, including rarity like old van winkle and wellers.
Have you been to @burritopoblano ? If not we suggest you head over ASAP. 🏃 🏃♀️ • This was the very first Mexican restaurant in Tuckahoe, NY. 🇲🇽 • Gilberto the owner came over from Mexico 33 years ago, and now with the help of his son Valentino they continue to provide authentic Mexican food. 🌮 • Truly is a hidden gem that you must try, the service was amazing from the food runners, to our server Mark. 🌟 • Here is what we had: • Drinks: Mango Margarita Passion Fruit Mock-tail Grapefruit Paloma Mock-tail • To eat: QuesaBirria Tacos Enchiladas Suizas Malinesa de Pollo Carnitas Tacos • Dessert: Homemade Flan (and you can taste that truly was made in house) 🤤 • Also be on the look out for their big Cinco de Mayo celebration 🥳
This is most definitely authentic mexican food. It's like they flew the food in first class from Mexico. The waitress was full of energy and extremely pleasant. The owner came over to see how things where. They have hand crafted drinks with natural juice. I definitely recommend stopping by for a drink or dinning in. There mole sauce is home made. I will definitely be back.
Had been here for a meal with coworkers some time ago and had ordered take away a couple of times. So this review is overdue. This time was dinner with family. We ordered a couple of empanadas (ground beef and chipotle chicken) and street corn to start. I really liked the flavor of the chipotle chicken even though it was a bit on the drier side. Ground beef empanada was good as well. Everyone really liked the street corn. It was a bit acidic for my taste, but still very good. For mains we ordered a couple of burrito enchiladas - one steak and one chicken. The person who ordered the steak said is was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the pastel azteca - basically Mexican lasagna made with masa, chicken, corn and poblano peppers. It was different than anything else, in terms of Mexican food, that I've had before. There was a bit of heat, but most people should be able to manage it. We got the churros for dessert - fresh and very good as well and came with a chocolate dipping sauce. I forgot to take a pic of my pastel azteca.
I've dined at Burrito Poblano on several occasions, including a few delivery orders. While the restaurant has its moments, my overall experience has been somewhat underwhelming. Service has been inconsistent, ranging from attentive to indifferent. Given its prime location on Main Street and the high level of competition in the area, I expected a more consistently high level of service and food quality, perhaps closer to a 4-star rating. While I am not one to typically complain about minor issues, the flavor profiles and seasoning of the dishes have been inconsistent. Parking on the street can be readily found, although it is metered during the day. The recent opening of another taco spot on the same street will undoubtedly increase the competitive pressure. I don't expect every restaurant in Tuckahoe to be a fine-dining establishment, but I do expect consistently above-average food and service.
Went with my family—four of us. The reason I’m giving the restaurant an overall rating of 2 is not because of the service or the food; both were great. I’m doing so because the owner—who I’m 100% sure it was during our dine-in, because I can’t think of any other employee who could scream that loudly and face no consequences—was completely unacceptable. We were seated and greeted by a nice lady; I think her name was Allison, sorry if I’m mistaken. Everything was going well. My wife and I got margaritas, and our kids got Mexican soda. As soon as our entrées arrived, our family time was completely disrupted by screaming coming from the kitchen. My wife is from Mexico, and from what she translated to me, it sounded like the boss wasn’t happy with something. I know different cultures shape people’s attitudes differently, and thanks to my wife, I’m familiar with loud talking and even a bit of yelling. But even then, the way the owner was screaming was completely unacceptable. It lasted almost half an hour—tantrums back and forth. At one point, my youngest was about to start tearing up. It’s truly sad that a restaurant with such good food and a great server (at least from my experience) is held back by an owner who lacks adequate leadership.
I spent over $54 and felt completely disappointed; this place is a scam. I ordered two tortas, two fish tacos and chicken flautas for pick up. The tortas (grilled chicken and grilled steak, had a tiny slice of avocado, and barely any beans. The fish tacos lacked flavor, and the rice that came with the chicken flautas was just okay. Overall, the food quality was nowhere near worth the price I paid.
I ordered steak fajitas steak was tough saturated in oil loaded with peppers and onions very little steak food was bland don’t think we are going back
Wish I can leave a good rating for this restaurant. But have been ordering from them with my girlfriend for years and the service has been very disappointing. As the food is ok but my girlfriend is vegetarian and they delivered a chicken dish instead of just shrimp. The owner seemed aren’t to not handle or correct the problem when it was clearly them at fault. Not the first issue we’ve had with delivery from them. I wish the manager/owner would have accommodated us better then brush us off and say they can’t do anything for us. Just hoping for the staff that they take their company in a better direction and own up to mistakes. We are all human but to not acknowledge them when your in the hospitality business is just not appealing for us to ever order from them again. The photo included should have been only shrimp. There is clearly other meat present.
