El Azteca Ukiah Reviews
El Azteca in Ukiah has been a favorite of ours for many years. Their dishes are always delicious and the service is excellent!
Came here for my birthday. The food was delicious as always. It arrived quickly and hot. The bathrooms were clean and smelled fresh. Our server was attentive and friendly. It's been a while since I've been here. It is still the best Mexican Food in Ukiah in my opinion.
Best Mexican food and great margaritas!!! A definite must have every time I am in the area!!
The food was great, and the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this to those who love Mexican food.
We have been going to this wonderful family owned Mexican restaurant for years! It is always wonderfully delicious. I i’ve always loved their food, drinks and service!
They have the best strawberry daiquiris I've ever had Family owned over 40 years. The staff is very attentive and courtesies. The food is delicious and in orders To go you can order a drink to go. Outside and inside dining.
I really enjoyed the taco salad with grilled chicken. Sat outside and it was a great day and lunch. They bring you chips and salsa at no charge. Also a small portion of Pico de Gallo.
The food is always amazingly good, every time. The people are always really nice and super friendly. Prices are set to match the quality of the food. Definitely would recommend this place to any and everyone.
Never ever had a bad meal at El Azteca, and that spans 30 years! Today's waitress was one of the best. If you want a full belly of great tasting food, this is the place to go!
Very good service. Amazing food and great atmosphere. Overall wonderful experience, I would recommend it to everyone as one of if not the best place to eat at in this area.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Ukiah. Their Aztec pizza is fantastic. The portion sizes are very large, the service is great, and the prices are good. They have a good selection of beverages to go with your meal. When I have friends or family visit from out of town this is where you usually go for dinner.
Ordered takeout due to covid restrictions. Food ready when they said, easy pay and pickup. Most importantly food was very good. Looks like they also have outdoor dining. We will try that another day.
Yum We were traveling through and wanted Mexican food ! This was close to our hotel and quick fast hot food with a lot of locals to boot ! We knew we scored .
Amazing food! And you can tell the employees are friendly and invested in the community as they are always talking to their customers as more than just customers but as friends too. I would 10/10 go here again and 100/10 would reccomend this place to others. Quite possibly the best Mexican restaurant in town. Thank you El Azteca! Can't wait to visit again. 😍
Amazing food! Such an authentic experience , the food was so flavourful and felt so healthy, my body rejoice. Wonderful service
Arrived here just before 5pm after a 10mile hike. 6 of us ate delicious Mexican food that filled us right up. Specials were $20.
It was a great spot this afternoon! Service was very good and the food was even better! Almost zero people here, truly a gem.
Soo good! We went on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed. Delicious food (a little pricey, but aren't all restaurants these days?) Hit the spot and zero complaints. Highly recommend checking it out. Sooo yummy!
It was so nice, clean, good service & delicious food.
Clean and organized. Simple yet delicious menu. Gravel parking lot but can accommodate a good size party. Will return.
The service here was very friendly the chips and salsa hit the spot after a long day of having fun. This is some good ole comfort Mexican food. Chase it down with a beer or even better a tall glass of ice cold water with lemon. Just down the street from the airport.
A Ukiah favorite. Indoor, patio, and takeout. Quality Mexican food. Always tasty. Plates are filled to the edges. A little pricey. But, worth it
Food was great. Service is amazing. Nice touch by giving homemade cinnamon sugar tortilla chip after your meal.
Definitely recommended for great Mexican food on US-101 whether you're heading towards the Redwoods or coming South!
Had the Fiesta Azteca pizza it was amazing! Clean restaurant, great service, and great food!
Chicken taco salad very good. I like salsa and chips. Give me more. Give me more.

Had the Fiesta Azteca pizza it was amazing! Clean restaurant, great service, and great food!
We enjoyed our Taco salads very much. The only problem was that I discovered that I had inadvertently left my wallet at the table with cash inside. The following day I stopped in to check after it and they had found it and put it in the safe, all cash intact. Their honesty really hit home. Thank you, Staff!
Nice Mexican restaurant a little off the beaten path. Been living in Ukiah area for a few years and just barely found this place. Definitely coming back! Good quality food and service so it’s a little more expensive than the other restaurants in town but the experience was worth it if you dine in. Also had great margaritas with real liquor. Not that sugary rice wine that other places serve.
The shrimp with garlic was excellent! The shrimp were perfectly cooked and it came with fresh orange slices and slices of avocado. The green chili pork was tender and you could cut it with a fork! Also, the fresh salsa was brilliant. We ordered two and ate all of it.
Some of the best Mexican food I've had in a very long time
Had a great time, ordered the 2 chimichanga item and it was delicious! They serve you free chips and salsa as you wait....The waitress was kind, and the atmosphere was great, they have these really cool old looking black chandeliers too 😎.

Great service, especially for a busy Saturday night. Food was hot and delicious. Can highly recommend the margarita (rocks + salt, of course!) Happy crowd, happy customer
Went there on a Sunday. Place was pretty empty and service was super slow, but our waitress was on top of things. Fresh chips, great salsas, entree were just good.
I have loved this restaurant for years and will continue to return, but I'm a little disappointed that the prices have gone up so much but the portions have gotten smaller. You have to pay for a salad now. My friend asked for just a tiny bit of sour cream and they brought her a whole side and charged her $2.00. Still love the food though, always consistently good.
I enjoy eating here from time to time, the Mexican pizzas are delicious, and the casuela bowl is awesome when shared between a few people. If you order a casuela bowl, call a cab you should not drive home after having one. The seating at this restaurant is nice, there are long tables capable of seating many people and an outside seating area. The service here is fast and kind, staff are eager to help you enjoy your dining experience.
Their Taco salad is excellent, and free refills on the soda is appreciated. Great selection of Mexican food, and they now serve alcohol too. Margaritas, anyone?
I recently dined at El Azteca, a local Mexican restaurant that offers a casual sit-down experience. I was seated promptly and given a menu right away, which was a great start. However, it did take a noticeable amount of time for my order to be taken, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. I ordered the asada taco salad, which came with beans, sour cream, and guacamole. The lettuce portion was minimal, and I found myself wishing the dish was a bit more veggie-forward to balance out the heavier components. The taco bowl was nicely prepared and arrived crisp, which I appreciated. The asada was cut into strips, which made it a bit awkward to eat, and there wasn’t much meat overall considering the $2 upcharge (and an additional $0.75 upcharge I noticed on the bill later). For those who don’t opt for the premium meat, the default is ground beef or shredded chicken, which may be a better value. Shortly after ordering, the chips and salsa arrived—two types of salsa, both of which tasted fresh, and the chips were warm and clearly freshly made. I also ordered a side of refried beans to dip the chips in, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal—really flavorful and satisfying. One thing that detracted from the experience was the service flow. Halfway through eating, my check was dropped off at the table, which gave the impression that they wanted me to pay and move along quickly. That felt a little rushed. However, to their credit, after I paid, the waitress brought out a small complimentary dessert—a tortilla chip topped with cinnamon, whipped cream, and strawberry drizzle. It was a pleasant and unexpected touch that helped end the meal on a nicer note. Overall, my experience was just okay. The food was decent but felt overpriced for the portion and quality, especially with the add-ons. Service was a mix of friendly gestures and rushed moments. I might return to try something else, but it wouldn’t be my go-to for Mexican food in the area.

The Very Best Salsa in town, chips are fresh and Delicious, ive been going here for way over 20 yrs, the Chile Colorado enchiladas have been my favorite for many years, and the refried beans are delicious. Unfortunately the chilie relleños are not fresh chile after all these years and so I don’t recommend those here but my children always order the cheese enchiladas plate. The house Margaritas are pretty good but i usually get the upgrade tequila. 9 times out of 10 the servers are really nice, i have only had a bad experience here around 3 times with the service and that’s in over 20 yrs. I highly recommend the Enchiladas and the refried beans and the excellent chips n salsa.
I noticed this place as I was heading out of town and decided I better give it a shot. The food was fast and tasty. I really enjoyed the salsa and chips that are offered to you. The service was above average and the waitress that we had was beyond sweet. The atmosphere of this place makes you feel as you are in Mexico. I would say give this place a shot and see if the Mexican food here soothes your taste buds.

This was my grandma’s favorite place and all of my elderly clients frequent this spot. It has very easy access and good drinks. Copper tabletops though, so people with copper allergies should be aware of that. Staff has been very attentive and our orders are always correct. The food itself is not my favorite, but the burritos are pretty large and the chicken is more like pot pie chicken, or something along those lines…very tender, although the flavor is not what I would associate with Mexican food. I think this is why seniors may dig this place, the food is pretty easy to eat and the atmosphere is good for a little gathering with drinks. The pico salsa we got was super fresh. I ordered fajitas, though, and all I got was… one fajita…which was kinda small and very overpriced for what you get.
This place is hit and miss. Shredded beef is always good. Chili verde changes flavor depending on the days cook. Chicken is very bland. People are very nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. Biggest downfall is they are a Mexican restaurant with no carnitas.
I bought a $14 burrito that was almost entirely rice. Hidden intermittently within the rice burrito were dabs of beans (Which were good) and a few scattered pieces of meat. It felt a bit like an Easter Egg hunt looking for the steak ($2.00 extra charge), except when you found it your prize was a cut of bland stew-meat that was too large to eat in a single bite and too tough to cut with a fork. The waitress, although very nice could have used some additional help. Our glasses sat empty for quite some time, when she did re-fill them she did so with a pitcher of Coke that had been sitting long enough to get warm and go flat. One would probably assume from my review that I am difficult to please. I don't believe that I am, I just expect more from a $34 lunch for two. Next time I will visit any one of the other 13 Mexican Restaurants we have in Ukiah, and receive much better value for money.
Quantity over quality. I did not see what other's saw in this place for I was not impressed with the food or service. I ordered the $20 steak fajitas and though it was a large plate, I did not think it was very good - on the dry salty side - and on the menu it said it was spicy, but this gringo did not think so. Also, the service was slow and poor. I wanted to try their flan made in-house, but never got the opportunity. The only thing the server got to us quickly was our check and never asked if we wanted anything else.
Good food, good drinks, but you have to get lucky with good service, recently went again and the waitress brought us our check without asking if we wanted anything else..which we did. Again the food is really good...but service is not up to par
Went for lunch this past weekend. Haven't been there in years and it was not what I remembered. 3 of us had lunch. Pico de gallo had no flavor, salsa was bland. The meat in the quesdillas had absolutely no flavor. We ordered one with ground beef and one with shredded steak and there was no seasoning in either. Our other person had a ground beef enchilada which was absolutely soaked and soggy in the red sauce; which was also bland and again no seasoning at all in the meat. We packed most of it up and re- cooked it at home and added seasonings and flavor to it. Would not eat here again. Taco Bell has more flavor.

I'm sorry to say, this was hands down the worst "Mexican" food I've had in my life. Should've known when the chips were stale and the salsa was awful that things weren't going to get any better. No effort put into the flavor of their food. Carne asada had absolutely zero seasoning. Prices way too high for the quality of garbage they're serving here. I don't know how this place stays in business.
Me and my husband came in we bought 2 lunches and we had 2 drinks. The wine 🍷 glass that I had was a quarter full. So.. I had a 3rd. Are bill was over a $100.00 the food was good.. but a $100 for lunch is way overpriced!! It’s not THAT GOOD!! I feel totally ripped off!
Great food. Poor, poor, poor service. How do you get charged extra for tortillas when you order fajitas? Felt like they could care less if we were there or not. To bad, because like I said, good food.
Their food varies. Sometimes it is pretty good. Sometimes it isn't very good at all. To make matters worse, their prices are HORRIBLE! I paid as much to have a Mexican dinner here as I do for a steak dinner at a local steakhouse! That's insane!!! I pay twice as much at El Azteca as I do at Taqueria Jalos and Jalos is much better! Save yourself some grief (and money). Go to Jalos instead! I would give them 4 stars if they would cut their prices in half and if their food was more often consistently good.
Thought we would try this place for lunch....Boy were we wrong! Restaurant was empty took them 10 minutes to come take our drink order then took another 15 mins to take our food order. Order was very simple to say the least but unfortunately it took them over 35 mins to bring our food out! I couldn't believe how tasteless the food was and very over priced!
