Ly Heng University Avenue Reviews
This place was great. Ordered the fired calamari, seafood noddles, and wonton soup. The wonton soup was light and flavorful. The seafood noodles come in a big portion (enough to feed 3), reasonably priced, and flavors were delicious. The fried calamari was not greasy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. My son doesn’t eat fried calamari, but this day, he did and enjoyed them. People serving food were so nice. I will definitely go here again because of the quality of food.
This no-frills restaurant knows how to cook their food! Both the crispy egg noodle dish and the Mongolian beef dish were just cooked to perfection. The portion was so generous that one dish could’ve fed two people. The complimentary soup was so good the meat just fell off the bone. The food were not too salty and seasoned very well, the beef so tender, the gailan crispy, tofu and the noodle were so flavorful while remaining its crisp. They didn’t taste like old oil. I was also impressed by the chef’s knife skills! All the veggies were sliced in perfect thickness, all even. Even the jalapeños in vinegar were sliced so well 😆 The restaurant felt clean and every bite of the food was so indulging. We would go back again and again!
First and foremost, amazing value! They really pile on the food for the price it’s kind of crazy how much will still be left in your plate after you finish your meal. The food is also DELICIOUS!! I definitely recommend the stir fry noodle with egg noodles and beef, and the house fried rice is a heaping plate of flavor. It’s a small family owned restaurant and they deserve every star, definitely bring your family and friends here :)
Went in trying to recover from an insane hangover, and I felt like I gained an entire new life! The broth they have made my eyes roll back from how amazing it tasted! I got the steak and meatballs soup, my friend had the tofu option. Both were amazing! You can’t go here and not get salt and pepper wings! They were so hot and crunchy!!! The eggrolls were just as hot and amazing.
This place is quaint but pumps out delicious food. If you don't get the salt and pepper squid you will regret it. I was told by a friend of mine that they sell out of the squid all the time. It is so much better than Italian calamari. I can't really explain how delicious it is, you just got to come here and try it. Parking is a challenge since it's all street parking in City heights so don't bring your nice car. Will definitely go back again.
Food taste's great, portions size is great, only bad thing is if you wanna order by phone they never pick up, I have actually talked to actual staff about the issue and it has never changed, so don't waste your time trying to order by phone, just head straight there! My brother loves the house fried rice, I like the beef fried rice, my sister likes the fried calamari!
I love the food from Ly Heng, they are unique in lot of way (cooking method, flavor, the soup), when you order an item, the item will come look exactly same as the menu, very appetizing. Both chicken wing and calamari appetizer are flavorful with right amount of garlic and pepper to boost the aroma. Then come to the best part, the bone soup. When you order ride dish, usually it will come with a bowl of pork bone soup, the meat are very tender and tasty, the soup have good amount of fish sauce to help on the umami side. Every rice dish is huge, but Hainan chicken and combination fried rice are my favorite by far.
Ly Heng offers a memorable dining experience with their standout Phnom Penh dry noodles, featuring a perfect balance of savory minced pork, tender slices of liver, and springy noodles, all complemented by a fragrant broth served on the side. The freshness of the ingredients and the expertly crafted flavors make this dish a true delight. Their beef satay noodles are equally impressive, with tender beef slices marinated in a rich, spicy satay sauce that pairs wonderfully with the chewy noodles. The dish's complexity and depth of flavor are enhanced by the addition of fresh herbs and crunchy peanuts. Overall, Ly Heng excels in delivering authentic Cambodian flavors that leave a lasting impression.
Came here around 5:30 on a Friday a little bit after they opened for the evening hours. I was the first customer for the evening so service was fine. Food also came out fast. I had the beef sate with thick egg noodles. Fresh, yet savory and slightly spicy, about a 4/10 on the spicy scale. It comes with a side of pork and broth, which was also delicious. It was my first time here and I'll definitely be back!
Phnom Penh Noodles was 🔥 Tasted authentic
Been here twice now, food is consistent and is now one of my favorite spots!! You have to try the calamari, some others that I loved were the satay beef noodles and the Mongolian beef, will be back to try more
Tons of delicious food for a reasonable price and very nice service. Really good Vietnamese coffee too. Will definitely be back!
Delicious broth. Nice owners. Large portion They did not skimp on the tender beef in their broth. I loved it and returned the next day for lunch
Sam makes amazing food here! Dining at Ly Heng Restaurant was a truly memorable experience. The ambiance was both elegant and inviting, and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. All the food is fresh and was absolutely delicious, and the drinks was perfectly crafted. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful dining experience. Thanks sam for making my family feel right at home.
I loved the veggie noodle soup with thin rice noodles. My friend got the beef and loved it, and my husband really enjoyed his house fried rice (it’s huge). The egg rolls were ok but I would skip them next time.
Ordered the fried calamari and it was 10/10 with some lime on top. Order the wonton soup, it was very light, and felt it was missing something, nonetheless the shrimp stirfry noodles (flat egg noodles) was sweet and savory and full of flavor.
Went here twice to make sure the dish is consistent. The beef satay egg noodles here is the best I have tasted in SD. The noodles were nice and firm. The sauce has a balanced peanut and spicy flavor. Although during my first visit, it was spicier than what I like. I requested a less spicy version during my 2nd visit and it was perfect! I am not sure what it's called, but theres a soybean(?) thing they have that you can add to the dish which adds a slight different flavor. The dish also comes with bone soup. The soup is light, but flavorful. The meat is really tender and almost melts in your mouth. I like this one compared to the ones around the area because it's not as fatty. Still reading? Beef satay noodles. Get it! The tofu and calamari were decent. I can't recommend other dishes since I have not had them...yet. Update: Kitchen cant keep up during busy hours so expect quite a wait. Also, you can't order takeout for some reason.
Tried the phnom penh noodles dry for the first time itnwas really good huge portions came with side of pork bone broth , the pork was so tender! My noodle side of soup and drink was 10 bucks deal!!
Beef plate was tender and good. Comes with beef soup which is good so don't order another soup. Stir fried noodles were good. Portions are big so you can order one less dish than number of people.
I am skeptical about giving the review. Their Phnom Penh noodles is a bit…strange. There are chicken, chả lụa, bò viên. 🤐. Mì xào giòn is good but the shrimps aren’t fresh..kinda on the expensive side at $20 for seafood mix.
