Casa Carmela València Reviews
IMPRESIONANTE.
The Restaurant was in an amazing part of Valencia's seaside. The premises were impeccable, clean and amazingly decorated. All the service was well organised: despite lots of people checking in at the same time (lots of people waiting out of the door before the opening time, 1 pm), we were immediately served. We opted for the Tasting Menu, and we didn't regret it. We ate paella at other places in Valencia, but this was definitely the best.
It’s a nice restaurant, but is very hyped and thus always packed. For that reason, some of the reviews that mention a “paella factory” vibe are correct. However most paella places near the beach are also like that. The paella is flavorful; they have an extensive wine list and there is a bar area that can seat walk-ins when they are not too busy. They do have a €50 euro pp minimum, so it is certainly a pricey option for Valencia. And, I do believe that there are comparable paella restaurants in Valencia that are just as good and less expensive. The location right off the beach is great. The wood-fired paella has a nice flavor and it’s fun to watch them make it. If you can ask for seats in the primary dining room, it would be recommended.
The food is top notch, everything fresh. Of course the Paella is the key dish to go for and the seafood one did not disappoint. We were surprised by the fried sardines and the sepionete. Amazing!portions are good and service is really friendly although servers might be overstretched. Desserts are just ok. Very traditional interior with a beautiful oceanfront location.
Its one of the best restaurants in Valencia. But its very busy, reservations are recommended. They also close early at 16:00. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat at the bar are, there no paella is available. They say they have the best ones. We had riso bolito and it was ok. Not like paella. Everything was delicious. Staff was kind and attentive. Its located by the beach , far from the center.
Casa Carmela is a special spot—right by the beach yet with an elegant, roomy interior. The staff were warm and attentive, and the food was excellent, especially their Moluscada salad and octopus with ink. I was glad to have pre-ordered their famous Valencian paella, often praised by locals, and it fully lived up to its reputation. After lunch, you can simply stroll over to Malvarrosa Beach—perfect for a quick dip and chill in the summer heat!
A truly lovely local experience! This was the best Paella 🥘 I’ve ever had, cooked traditionally over a bonfire. The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere, and the service was professional and welcoming. We started with a fresh salad and crispy calamari—both delicious. The traditional Paella was definitely the right choice, especially compared to so many other places in Valencia. Pre-booking is highly recommended, as locals also suggested. The décor creates a great vibe, and despite being busy, everything was spotless—hygiene standards were excellent, including the toilets. As a tourist, I also loved being able to watch the Paella cooking process, which made the experience even more special. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Valencia!
Visiting from NYC with my parents, my two sister’s and husbands (a group of 8), everyone we spoke to who had been to Valencia — plus some local friends — told us we had to try Casa Carmela. I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking it might be more hype than substance. But I was wrong. We had an amazing experience. We were seated at a round table (which I love for groups of 8+) in the back covered patio area, which was really pleasant. We ordered the arroz negro for five people — absolutely exceptional. Don’t miss it. We also had rodaballo (turbot) carved tableside, which was equally superb. The place was packed for comida (lunch), but somehow it still felt calm, and the service never missed a beat. Midway through the meal, we realized we were going to go over the 2-hour time slot they typically allocate per table. The staff kindly asked if we’d mind having our coffee and after-dinner drinks on the upstairs terrace — which actually turned out to be a perfect way to end the lunch, overlooking the beach. (For the future, definitely try to request one of the large tables on the second floor with ocean views.) As for wine, Casa Carmela has one of the best Spanish wine lists I’ve seen, with a great selection of magnums — we went for two! Anyway, if you’re visiting Valencia, don’t miss the chance to eat here.
Absolutely wonderful wood-fire paella! It is right by the water and has a great atmosphere. My group had some questions and the staff was very helpful when we were deciding what to get. I ended up doing the tasting menu and seafood paella. All of which was extremely fresh and full of flavor. The cheesecake was my favorite between the French toast and that. It was a vanilla bean flavor and had a great crust. The highlights were the oysters and paella of course!

Our party of four had the paella tasting menu. It was amazing! All the seafood was fresh and delicious and the service was top notch. I would definitely recommend.

This! We specially made a detour to Valencia for their traditional paella. The communication I had with the restaurant ahead of time was great. I secured a reservation directly with the restaurant.…
Fabulous food and wine! Reservations are needed and paella is for lunch. The traditional Paella with rabbit has to be reserved in advance. Worth the visit!

Very good food and service! Even after coming back after 2h for a cup of coffee we have been recognized as customers and been treated with a free cup pf coffee.

If by any chance you’re around do go to Casa Carmela. As a single client I’ve been nicely welcomed. Indeed you cannot have a paella for 1 but Valencia it’s not only paella 😊 My grilled fish and vegetables where just perfect. And talking about the dessert tarta manzana con turron helado recomanded by the waitress… speechless😋😋 🙏🙏
Food is absolutely fantastic, we ordered baked red peppers with cured codfish, garlic and tuna jerky, grilled octopus with parmentier potatoes, brothy rice with shrimp and langoustines and French toast with horchata ice cream and traditional flan. Everything on point, fantastic. The restaurant is nicely decorated and it is great to be able to see how they do the paellas on the wood fire. Músic could be toned down, too loud. And lastly, the service was bad. We waited long for the check, had to ask three times for water. For a restaurant that charges as much as Casa Carmela does, everything should be perfect. Prices are too high in my opinion, about a third more than great rated restaurants in the city center.

Nice dining experience. Food was delicious. HOWEVER.... The waiter we had was a CROOK. Two times during our dining experience he HIGHLY encouraged us to buy more food, and he was about to make a rum and coke with HIBIKI Japanes whiskey...which is EXTREMELY expensive...like more than the WHOLE meal itself. Luckily I caught this. Because the waitor didn't even attempt to alert us on the price. Also he recommended we order a fish for $75, he told us we didn't order enough food for the group. Meanwhile we couldn't even finish the paella, and we were 4 HUNGRY MEN. Luckily I'm smarter than the waitor, and didn't fall for his tricks. He almost stole roughly $200 from us. Not cool. I hope the management read this review, because he shouldn't be employed anymore after this. Ciao.
