Great new small business in a charming location! Plenty of seating, outlets, and reliable wifi to enjoy a coffee while admiring the forested ridges surrounding the town. Great conversation from the friendly owner who is just getting the place off the ground. Definitely check this place out and support a local business!

In the summer of 2021, after years of driving past the short turnoff from US2 that crosses the river to Skykomish, my wife and I finally decided to check out the town. We were blown away by the beauty of its setting. And as people who love trains, the BNSF main line running right through the middle of town was a wonderful surprise. And Sky River Coffee was the cherry on top! It exudes the charm of its surroundings and offers great coffee and tasty bagels and other treats served, on that day, by a welcoming, attentive young lady behind the counter. It's a wonderful gathering place where it's easy to meet people and have stimulating conversation. We live a hundred miles away, in Anacortes, but Skykomish, the railroad, and Sky River Coffee constantly beckon. Much to our regret, we haven't been back since, but we know that one day soon we'll head there for the rare pleasure of a great cup of coffee among friendly people and surrounded by a spectacular landscape. Hopefully, we'll see a train or two go by, too!

Enjoyed some hot chai, chess, & a cinnamon roll!!! If you can think of the perfect breakfast snack, this is your place - they have oatmeal, bars, yogurt, and more! Great prices and great service by the one woman barista shop.

The Chai Nog and Peppermint White Mocha were off the hook! The owner/batista is awesome and sets up a wonderful community atmosphere in this small town. Worth stopping both ways on any trip!!

Last time we were in the Skykomish Hotel, about 25 years ago, it was to have a tired dinner in a tired cafe in a tired building. Sky River Coffee is none of those. Nicely remodeled, friendly staff, the nicest place in Sky to stop for a cup.

We got a London fog and latter before our lookout hike and came back two days later for lattes and a muffin! They are SO good. Definitely recommend coming here!

Hwy 2 saved the best for ...last coffee stop on the way to Stevens! Becky makes the best oatmilk mochas!! Stop in to say hello and grab a cup of coffee in one of their rad color changing mugs!

Excellent espresso, bodacious barista, wonderful Wi-Fi!, Z lavish latrine-and soon, it's said, a pet-friendly patio. Give her your money, hiker trash.

The service was excellent and the coffee was delicious! My kids loved the play corner so much I could barely drag them away!

K

We decided to stop in the town for a walk to break up the drive and decided a cup of coffee would do us good. Great decision. The espresso was perfect if not better than the benchmark of our favorite barista and the drip was excellent too. I tend to like a sweetened drip coffee to reduce the bitterness but this one didn't need it. The tasty muffin we split was just enough for a nice snack. The barista was a pro.

Relaxing coffee shop with great coffee and service. Get off the highway in Skykomish and have a break here.

It's no surprise this place has an average of a perfect 5.0 stars. It's a great little coffee shop; definitely has the (very) small town feel. There's a chess board and a corner with lots of stuff for kids to play with. Could stay here all day. I can't imagine they get enough business -- I hope they can keep it going.

Such a cute little coffee place. Quick stop before heading to a trail in the morning. Had a pastry and a lotus energy drink. Both very good.

I’ve been in here a few times now to work since I moved down the road to Index. I’m SO glad this little coffee shop is here, this area needed something like this! Everyone’s so nice and the coffee is great. The thing that really made me want to write this review was bc I wanted to do laundry today across the street and completely spaced out and forgot laundry detergent. The owner was in there chatting with some locals and actually went home and got some laundry detergent for me and it was the nicest thing ever. It saved me today and I’m so thankful for that! 🥹

If you're driving to/from Steven's Pass, PLEASE stop at this coffee shop! Beautiful local art for sale, large and homey interior, and the owner was so friendly and kind. Our Pistachio Latte's were awesome. Take a walk up and down this street as well - get some nice views of this beautiful small town!

What a tasty cup of coffee! Don't be fooled by the sleepy, quaint town of Skykomish. If you are passing through to Steven's Pass or back to Seattle, this coffee shop is well worth the stop! Sip a delicious cup of joe, while sitting in the gorgeous remodeled building, which is across from the train station! Thank you Becky for making our stay so pleasant.

Stopped by due to a detour and had a Buttered Rum Mocha Latte that was to die for! Came back the next morning and had another coffee it was so good. Would recommend this place to anyone and the owner is simply amazing. Keep up the great work, love the remodel!!

Come for the coffee and convenience as you're traveling scenic highway 2. Stay and enjoy because Moe will make you feel like you are part of the family of Skykomish. She hustles and works hard, but makes pleasing you her number one priority! Such a warm and inviting restaurant in the middle of an adorable and friendly town. We were staying local for 3 weeks and went out of our way to stop and see her everyday for the atmosphere as much as the coffee. Can't say enough about how much we admire Moe and what she has done with this shop. Go girl 💪❤️!

Have come in here a couple times now but Used the shop as an office for a morning before the slopes. Managed to get a lot done while enjoying the energy of locals. The owner knows how to make a good London fog (a lot of baristas in the US don’t know how) and even put a Large group on the opposite end of where I was working, which is not expected but appreciated. She has the gift of gab and is hilarious. Good stop to stretch legs en route to stevens or Leavenworth. They don’t have any allergy free listed items, but they do have a variety of baked goods. Looking forward to next visit already, whether working remote or stopping by with friends.

Decided to drive up into the mountains to see the fall colors. Not many leaves turning but stopped in little town of Skykomish. This coffee shop is a true gem. Very unassuming from outside but a real surprise inside. Very friendly, very welcoming. Even a children's corner to occupy your littlest. I'd recommend the chai tea latte, they do it very well.

I recently had a delivery in this wonderful little town. I could see this little coffee shop across the railroad tracks from me. So I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I visited this shop. When I went in I was amazed at the beautiful interior and cleanliness of this shop. They young lady making the coffee was a absolutely wonderful person. Very friendly and helpful. I don't usually get fancy coffee but i figured I would give it a try. I asked for the drink the way I thought I remembered with extra shots of expresso. But she talked me out if that and made it her way for me. May drink was great and I enjoyed it very much. Thank you so much for your great service.

I ordered a hot chocolate and the rest of my family ordered lattes. We saw baked goods and added a pistachio muffin. My hot chocolate was excellent and so were the lattes. The muffin was the most delicious I have ever eaten and I could really taste the pistachio. There is a comfortable sitting/reading area that makes the shop very inviting. It's worth driving a couple blocks away from US 2 into the city of Skykomish for a wonderful refreshment.

Y’all, this place is incredible!!! The coffee flavor options were awesome, the owner is so chill and the vibes are immaculate. It’s a MUST stop when you’re in town! Per the recommendation of the owner, I got a lavender dirty chai with oat milk and it was amazing. The lavender flavor was authentic, delicious and not overpowering. The cheese danish was so good that I finished it before I could even take a photo for this review!!

Cute coffee shop with ample seating. I had the hot chocolate and it was excellent. Was hoping for a fresh baked something, but all the food appears to be brought in and/or shelf stable. Wide selection of snacks and drinks of that nature though and I walked away happy with a chocolate muffin.

Very friendly, super clean and welcoming! The coffee is perfect with many choices also teas, Italian sodas, etc.. There are tasty pastrys if you need a snack. Found this gem while driving toward Mount Baker and decided to stop in the small town of Skykomish. The town itself is charming with a railroad running right through the center, and Sky River Coffee fits perfectly into that vibe. I needed to attend a meeting and this spot was ideal. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with Wi-Fi, which worked great. I chose to sit outside since it was nice and chilly, sipping hot coffee while working, and it was perfect. The coffee was excellent and the desserts we tried were just as good. What stood out even more was the people working there. They were kind, helpful, and even suggested places to check out nearby. It felt like more than just a café — it gave off such a welcoming and happy atmosphere that you just want to sit and enjoy for a while. They also had some cucumbers for dogs outside 🥹 If you’re anywhere near this area, Sky River Coffee is a must-stop, not only for the drinks but also for the charm of the town and the warm hospitality. This is a pretty neat coffee shop right in the heart of the quaint little railroad town known as Skykomish. If you haven't stopped by you really should. Definitely take a weekend and check it out. There are amazing places to stay between Gold Bar, Index, Baring, and Skykomish. Take a slow lazy weekend and just chill. Check out the scenery, railroad museum, and a couple small shops. Sky River coffee is like Skykomish itself. Full of great vibes as epitomized by it's owner, lovely Mo. Great coffee, cappuccino, espresso and hot chai, yum! Actually, I'm sure all of those are good because during my three weeks stay there I went almost everyday. If you have kids there's a little corner just for them. Stopped by on my drive to Seattle and tried the pistachio + white chocolate latte, which was really good. But the lemon + blueberry bread the was BEST I have ever tasted!! Maybe it was because I was super thirsty after hiking Beckler Peak and forgetting my water bottle (had to share with my son), but the cold brew was amazingly tasty and refreshing. Only very slight negative was the largest cup they had was 20oz, but in hindsight I should have just ordered two :) Great interior, friend barista, beautiful location, what's not to like?

We stopped by Sky to see some friends and were excited to check out the coffee shop. I used to live in Sky years ago and we only had coffee to go from the gas station... it was so cool to see a real coffee shop and we enjoyed sitting on their couch and seeing all the books they had. It seemed like such a great addition to town! We look forward to going back. Oh, and my iced oat milk latte was great too!

Not only does this spot make an excellent latte, I was greatly impressed with the speed at which they were turning out drinks on a busy Saturday! The pass was shut down temporarily due to overflow and I waited less than 5 min for my drink even though the cafe was packed! The latte was super good and I even saw the barista remake drinks for patrons that had asked. Good coffee, great service. Would recommend. Also it’s cute inside and they have free chess and other games. Looks like a good spot for summer too.

The latte was super good and I even saw the barista remake drinks for patrons that had asked. Good coffee, great service. Would recommend. Also it’s cute inside and they have free chess and other games. Looks like a good spot for summer too.

I make a point to stop at this place every time I'm in the area. The lady working there always strikes up a friendly conversation and my drink is always perfect. Place is clean, cozy, and welcoming. Will be returning soon.

the coffee, the books, the art and the atmosphere , 5 star. You can play chess while your kids play in the kids corner that’s is so thoughtfully curated. They have water for your pups on the back patio which is spacious and lovely in the summer.

The Irish Cream Latte was wonderful, the muffin was moist and the fireplace was so inviting. Stop in, you won't regret it!

Great little coffee shop! It was so cute and inviting. The drinks were delicious and so were the pastries. It's the perfect stop to fuel up before a big hike.

Stopped by on my drive to Seattle and tried the pistachio + white chocolate latte, which was really good. But the lemon + blueberry bread the was BEST I have ever tasted!! They warmed it up for me, and the bread was fluffy and moist and decadent …. And I wish I had bought several more! Please go try it, you will not be disappointed.

Only had a coffee. Great little independent place though. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Sky River was cute. The coffee was OK. I fully admit that I'm spoiled with all the local coffee shops near Seattle. My drink, 20oz iced Americano, half sweet white chocolate with oat milk, was made as specified. The coffee was a tad bitter but not undrinkable. Barista was super personable with the other patrons in the shop, so it's good to see that the barista does a good job in making connections with the customers.

I think the main appeal here is that this is a real coffee shop, with a real espresso machine, in a tiny cute town. We have been here twice for our coffee fix while road tripping. It's a great place for a book, and there is a toy area if you have kids. The only reason I take away a star is because, in my opinion, the coffee is good not great. I've tried their drip as well as their lattes. Taste is subjective (I prefer very light roasts), and this is better than anything else nearby. Also, I suspect the pastries are from Costco. Regardless, Sky River Coffee Is great for a quaint town, but it's not like a hipster Seattle sort of coffee shop. That's part of its charm, I suppose. And we will definitely keep coming back.

Cute little coffee shop in a sleepy little town. The barista was chirpy and in a good mood. Coffee was just ok, the roast wasn’t perfect and some bitterness in the flavour profile. Too much foam too, and you could tell the milk was cheap quality. Good selection of baked goods. The muffin was fresh, but overly sweet. Good pit stop if you want some caffeine, but not the best coffee you’ve ever had.

I would give if there is 0 star for this cafe. Absolutely rude lady with large round stud earrings. She couldn’t differentiate between kids playing and yelling. And we asked for milk for the kid, she gave us cold milk and when asked her to warm it up she said you didn’t ask for steamed milk and will not heat up as she is busy with angry face. Never seen Such unfriendly cafe lady. Will never visit or recommend such cafe ever again 👎🏻

My experience today at Sky River Coffee was extremely disappointing. This was my first time visiting, and I walked in with a group of friends expecting a welcoming atmosphere. Instead, the barista not the one with dark hair, but the other was consistently rude and displayed a very negative attitude toward both my husband and me. Everything I said to her was met with a harsh tone, dismissive body language, or an unfriendly response. I kept questioning whether I had done something to cause this behavior, but it became clear that her attitude had nothing to do with us. She continued to be just as rude when speaking to my husband, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. My husband overheard the dark-haired barista ask her coworker if she was okay, and the girl said yes. Regardless, I don’t think we should have been treated like that, especially as new customers coming in hoping to enjoy some coffee. Overall, I was very disappointed that my husband, our friends, and I had such a negative experience during what should have been an enjoyable first visit.
