Al Chianti Venice Reviews
Abbiamo scelto bene!!! ❤️
Ristorante situato vicinissimo a piazza San Marco, staff molto gentile e disponibile.
While walking the many many alleys of Venice on our trip in December we stumbled across this cute restaurant, we ordered pepperoni pizza, pesto tagliatelle, and pomodoro pasta, we added few things outside of the menu to each of our dishes, waiter graciously agreed and the chef made it for us, the pesto pasta was too good, we ordered tiramisu for dessert it was decadent , try this out if you are in this region for Venice
I went with my friend (we are both celiacs) and ate gluten free tagliatelle, one with pesto and the other with carbonara and they were delicious. They had a great variety of options for us and they were super nice. The waiter gave us bag holders to not have our bags touching the floor. Our meals came super quick and it was affordable and completely worth the price (paid less than 15€). Me and my friend totally recommend coming!
An amazing restaurant just 5 minutes walk away from Piazza San Marco, but I think it’s a hidden gem as it’s not on the Main Street! The food was incredible, but the service was even better. Our waiters were so thoughtful and attentive. When I told them we were going to split the food, they very thoughtfully split our pasta into two portions on separate plates for us for extra convenience. Very fair prices as well, especially when compared to other restaurants in Venice. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the calamari, the pasta with cream smoked ham and mushrooms, the steak, and the tiramisu.
Al Chianti probably the best place to dine in Venice. Located not too far from Piazza San Marco. We stop because we saw someone ordered mussels, and believe me, it was really good! The steam mussel cooked with white wine and butter. It was really fresh and well seasoned. Came with bread where you can dip the bread to the sauce. Super goody! We also ordered margarita pizza and 4 cheese gnocchi. Pizza was also really good. For the Gnocchi, it was also good although I have tried a better one. The service was great and super friendly. The place is rather small so prepare to sit tightly with other guests. Price was okay considering the size of the dish. Overall it was a great experience and we would really love to come back.
Good service, was very attentive. Our table was wobbling and the waiter voluntarily came over and fixed it with some cardboard to even out the table. The pastas were very nice, probably the best we’ve had on our trip so far, fish chowder was okay - some of the fish tasted very frozen. Overall enjoyed the dinner
When looking online for good restaurants near P.San Marco I stumbled on “Al Chianti” and I liked the reviews in which they didn’t disappoint. We ate too much for dinner, but couldn’t resist “all italiana” food. The fish soup is delicious, the “spaghetti al Nero di seppie” were “buonissimi”. We also had the grilled fish mix which definitely was too much for two persons at dinner, but the fish was very fresh, tasty and amazing aroma. The Tiramisu was also excellent. You can expect a small space, typical for the place, with also typical prices but worth the quality and the central location. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would recommend and come back in the future.
We visited the restaurant 3 times during our stay in Venice because we were so impressed by the overall package. I can warmly recommend the restaurant and the food. The staff is very friendly and always gave us a warm welcome. If I come to Venice again I will definitely come back! All in all: Very nice restaurant! Good food, drinks and nice staff! Good price-performance ratio
Update: We went back to Venice and of course to Al Chianti. The food continues to impress. Service is great as before. Highly satisfied overall experience. - Wonderful restaurant. In a sea of over priced restaurants that would rip off tourists, Al Chianti is a gem. No nonsense. Just good food and good wine. Excellent!
Fantastic location for food and friendly staff. I cannot speak Italian so it was great that the staff here were able to converse in English and they had an English menu too. The pizza was top notch. Anchovies are salty so for those who really do not like that, you should choose something else. The mussels were good as a starter. It's a good spot for lunch away from the other sleazy restaurants. Beware, there is a restaurant right next to it with similar layout so be sure to ask the staff if this is Al Chianti before entering.
Superior restaurant , very friendly people and food is very delicious thank you for memorable time highly recommend this restaurant, taste of Italy

Great food, atmosphere, and service! Loved the flavors and the atmosphere. Highly recommend the minestrone soup as well!
All absolutely amazing - waiters were polite and helpful, food was and prices were reasonable for such short distance from St. Marco. We had dinner there and I highly recommend to taste the Chiant…
Do not look further for the best meal in San Marco area. A family run, traditional gem. Unbelievable service, exquisite dishes and reasonable prices.
Buona Trattoria tipica Veneziana, buoni piatti, alta qualità del pesce, ottimo servizio. Prezzi molto buoni.

This restaurant near the main square in Venice was average. The pizza was underwhelming—I’ve had better outside of Italy. The spaghetti with garlic and oil was the better of the two dishes, but overall, not memorable. I’d recommend finding a spot with a view by the Grand Canal instead or near the inner streets of Grand Canal than close to the main square.
3.5, The tiramisu was the best we had in the Italy trip. Having said that, the rest of the food was daily oily. We ordered 4 cheese pizza. Spaghetti with pesto. Ravioli and minestrone soup. Soup was very good. Rest of the food was pretty average. Will recommend just for the tiramisu . The other thing, we didn’t order for 4 cheese penne, the waiter delivered it to our table and we didn’t realize it and when he told us, we returned it saying we’d prefer our pesto spaghetti. The waiter ended up charging us $7 for that dish that we neither ordered, nor ate.
