Caffe Matteo Via Fieschi Reviews
Thought this was a great example of a small local family-run restaurant with local style dishes and produce. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The ravioli with walnut sauce, fresh fish of the day (sea bass) with vegetables and Tuscan testaroli pasta with tuccu sauce were all delicious. A genuine Italian trattoria with a comforting atmosphere.
Tiny little place that was super busy. Lovely quirky ambience. You have to sit very close to your neighbors. Friendly staff and every dish was delicious. Only the side green beans were not to my taste Interesting pasta paired with pesto. The tuna steak and the dessert in particular was excellent. You definitely need to book
We were lucky to get a table at this small but fine place. Had read reviews and they apparently take reservations (open at 7p) but they had an open table for us as a walk-in. Antipasto dishes were delicious and large. Pasta was awesome as was the rabbit. It is very small... tight seating and 1 server so do not be in a rush. But everything was delivered in order.... English and Italian menus.
A very quaint restaurant right in the heart of Corniglia. They have two dinner seatings so a reservation is essential. We booked easily via WhatsApp and the team responded very quickly. The food was incredible. We had the seafood pasta, which was absolutely amazing, and also enjoyed the octopus cooked in the traditional Ligurian style. Service was warm and friendly. Highly recommend!
We were a group of three and got a reservation just 30 minutes before the second service (the restaurant has two seatings: 7 and 9 p.m.). We took the 9 o’clock slot. We shared three antipasti: acciughe al limone (lemon anchovies) — my favorite dish of the night — burrata with anchovies and dried tomatoes, and a fresh caprese Everything was absolutely delicious, especially with a white Cinque Terre wine. For primi, we had three pasta dishes: one with pesto and two ravioli filled with ricotta served with salsa di noci (walnut sauce). We finished with a limoncino, and our kind server explained the difference between limoncino and limoncello. We truly loved our experience — the food, the service, everything. We're even thinking of going back tomorrow, even though we're only in Corniglia for two days.
We ordered an anchovy dish that was served with arugula, basil, tomatoes, olives, capers, and lemon—all exceptionally fresh and high-quality ingredients. I really enjoyed this dish because combining the anchovy with all these familiar flavors—though I had never experienced them together—gave it an exotic dimension. A brilliantly creative recipe in its simplicity. We were also offered a very good local white wine, which paired perfectly with the meal.
Absolutely loved it here. Big menu with lots of options either through the board or the menu card. For allergens, definitely go through the menu card for assurance. We had the tuna steak and the rabbit stew with pasta as a first course. All were lovely! Good pricing and amazing interior. Make sure to make a reservation day before or mid day and just pop in to ask.
Simple menu, yet so much satisfying! We chose this restaurant based on very good reviews. Already half an hour before opening time there was a line of people waiting for their table. The place is very cosy, just a few tables (waiting in the line makes sense I guess), decorated by owner’s valuables including family pictures. I loved the atmosphere. As appetiser we ordered acciughe (anchovy) platter. Man, that was a lot of acciughe! But all were very nice, prepared in different flavours and techniques and with a bowl of mussels. For mains we chose 2 types of pasta - ravioli and testaroli. Testaroli come from ancient times and look like sponge squares, which is not a very appetising appearance. It tastes better than it looks - happy I have tried it, but nothing I would be craving for in the future. Our secondo piatto was the octopus - very tender and just delicious! We skipped the dessert and had a coffee with digestivo - homemade herbal liquor. Would come back any time!
A must when in Corniglia. Food was amazing. We had fresh anchovies, seafood pasta, grilled pulps and rabbit (wouldn’t recommend though). Small restaurant but nice ambience. One waitress for everyone/everything but she was very efficient and friendly. 125 euros for 1 antipasti, 2 primo, 2 secondo and one bottle of wine. Great value for quality! They seem to have a 7pm and 9pm seating. We made reservation mid day for 7pm and glad we did else we wouldn’t have made it. Only 9-10 tables.
Exceptionally good and well-worth climbing the 383 steps to get to Corniglia (it helps to wet your appetite). I was informed that the restaurant is renowned for its poaching techniques by my host Nessuno. The poached tuna dish did not disappoint and I frankly admit I have never tasted any tuna as good!
The place offers a real gastronomic experience! The best place for dining in Corniglia. It’s small and private but with an immersive atmosphere. The food was locally sourced and authentic for the region. Yummy! The staff was nice and made our evening spacial! You must book in advance - the evening was split into two shifts and guests were welcomed at 19:00 and 21:00. Very well organized.
For me personally, this restaurant is one of the best and cutest in whole Italy. Make sure to book a table in advance, as they are already fully booked at 7pm, which is very early for dinner - but still, people are happy to come this early in order to get a table! The mixed seafood platter is probably their signature appetizer and is really delicious. I can either recommend their catch of the day or pasta with their self made pesto, that is very typical for Cinque Terre. On top of all that, the service is great and friendly! Perfect evening, looking forward to my next visit!

Outstanding Atmoshere, the staff is phenomenal and very social able. The cafe and desserts are to die for. The coffee in the square just added a True Italian touch. Highly recommended.
Delicious gluten free pizza - thin crust, very flavoursome - would definitely recommend the pizza mondo (has everything yummy on it!). Lovely staff and great atmosphere, thank you
This restaurant shows a lot of promise with its high-quality dishes! We tried both the poached and grilled sea bream, and they were absolutely delicious—especially when paired with the excellent local white wine. However, the overall portion size was a bit too small, leaving us still hungry. We added dessert to treat ourselves, which was really tasty but also a bit modest in size. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere pleasant, but make sure to order extra if you have a bigger appetite!
