il Focolare Via Vallari Reviews
I loved the refuge. The staff was smiling and welcoming. There were four of us, plus our dog. The place is pet-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friends along without leaving them at home. I'm from Rome but live in London. The polenta with melted Bettelmat Alpe Regina cheese on top was divine. I loved everything about it: the location, the food, the interior. At the entrance, they even have jars of homemade local products, if you want to take a souvenir of the valley.
We had lunch and enjoyed the best food you could ask for. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, with an open fireplace where polenta is cooked in a pot. The ingredients are amazing and perfectly cooked. If you love polenta, you absolutely must try theirs; you won't find it this good anywhere else. The prices are fair.
It's a wonderful place. The atmosphere is rustic, warm, and welcoming. The dishes are refined and delicious; don't miss the dessert. Plus, they bring you warm gnocchi with your coffee!
We arrived on a Sunday without a reservation, so we had to wait about twenty minutes. This is completely understandable, as the place is quite popular, so I recommend booking in advance. The place was definitely worth the wait. The four of us had the meat tasting menu (venison, wild boar, fondue, bruscit, snails, etc.) with polenta for €17 each, excluding drinks and cover charge. Superb value. We were truly satisfied with both the quality and quantity. Thanks to the staff for the excellent service and the welcoming atmosphere!
Another delicious experience at "Focolare"!! Among the first courses, the tagliatelle Vigezzine with mushrooms and the chestnut gnocchi in walnut sauce are unmissable. The polenta is then served with everything you could desire (for those who like them, the snails Vigezzina style are worth a second!). The desserts are also traditional: the "panelatte" cake, named after a beautiful Alpine lake in the valley, is extraordinary in its simplicity! The atmosphere is clean, warm, and welcoming (November 5th), and the staff is courteous and attentive. Congratulations and thanks to all the staff!! ... see you soon!
Beautiful, clean, high quality and good food, good prices. Not easy to find a place if you do not book well in advance
I went here today for lunch with friends. We ordered a liter of house wine, water, and a mixed antipasti platter of traditional cured meats and game cured meats, all very good. They also served peppers and Borettane onions. We then continued with polenta and a mixed appetizer to enjoy together, finishing with two blueberry sorbets (delicious), three slices of cake, and three coffees, all for €35 per person. The place is nice, but the restrooms are outside. I recommend it because the food is really good!!! Congratulations!
What can I say?! It's a fantastic, warm place, it makes you feel at home! The staff is very, very kind, the dishes are truly delicious and authentic, you can taste the quality of every single product. The prices aren't high, they're affordable for everyone! They have a wide selection of dishes! Must try! I forgot, the dishes are generous.
Simple but good menu, all things considered. Terrible service. It took an hour to receive the food, the children's pasta arrived after the main courses, and various requests (e.g., toothpicks, waiting time, etc.) were completely ignored. Too bad.
Unfortunately, our experience wasn't a positive one... we arrived at 8:30 PM, our order was taken immediately, and our drinks arrived shortly thereafter. From there, we were completely forgotten about for an hour. We ordered four first courses, three tagliatelle, and one chestnut gnocchi, yet despite the speed of the service, time kept passing. At 9:15 PM, they told us they were about to arrive, then, at 9:25 PM, with our hunger completely gone, we kindly gave them a ultimatum: either they were on their way or we'd leave. From there, another 10 minutes later, they arrived. Meanwhile, the place had practically emptied out, and other tables received two or three different courses... We're disappointed because we would have definitely ordered something else, but after an hour of just bread, our hunger had completely subsided. The most disappointing thing was the lack of an apology at the end. Too bad.
