Fuego Waco Reviews
Getting a taco on my way to work is the best way to start my day! I’ve never been inside so I can’t rate the atmosphere, but every person who works the drive through window is so nice and always gets my order right! Shout out to Clarence - he always has a smile on his face.
This is our second time in 3 days to eat here.. we tried the one in College Station and just tried the Waco location. So good!!! All the food is made fresh including their tortillas. We love the South Padre Shrimp tacos and the tortilla soup is amazing. We hope they bring locations to Arlington/Fort Worth area! Open 24/7 including dine in.
I love their Dr Pepper Cowboy. The Smoked brisket was so good and the sauce was just perfect. 10 out 10 recommend.
I had such a great experience at Fuego during the overnight shift! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, even late at night. The staff working overnight were friendly, fast, and made sure everything came out hot and just right. It’s rare to find that kind of great service and quality food after hours, but they really delivered.
If you’re on the hunt for tacos that could double as a small child’s pillow, look no further than Fuego Tacos! Our waitress, Jerida, was a taco whisperer, guiding us through a menu that felt like a flavor adventure. We kicked things off with chips and queso that could make even the most loyal cheese lover swoon. Then we tackled some serious taco giants: The King was a meat-lover's dream, while the Hippie brought a refreshing crunch that felt like a garden party in your mouth. Sweet Caroline had just the right amount of sweetness, and Good Golly Miss Holly? Let’s just say it was a flavor bomb that left us smiling. The Dr Pepper Cowboy was a zesty twist that packed a punch you didn't see coming. With portions this generous, you’ll definitely leave satisfied—and maybe even with a taco to-go. Forget Torchy’s; Fuego Tacos is where it’s at! 🌮🔥
What a great find! Its a fun place with great food. I got the chicken and waffles and she got the rotisserie chicken tortilla soup. Amazing flavors. They had a bunch of unique features as well - a salsa bar and their sodas were something Ive never seen. The Stubborn drinks were EPIC! The Vanilla Agave and the Pineapple Cream were so good we will probably come back just for that. Excellent.
This place is awesome! The decor was impressive for what you would assume to just be a taco place. I love that they have a salsa bar. I think two drink machines us enough for this size store when you get the option to mix up flavors. It can take a while but most places I go only have 1 machine. The tacos were delightful. Great portions and everything tasted fresh. I suggest dipping your French fries in the queso. We had our own cheese fries appetizer going on.
I've been coming here for years. This one and the one in San Marcos. I know the one here in Waco has gone through some changes over the years. I always get the same thing when I come here so the major changes I've seen were the juices they offer and the salsa. The salsa here used to be amazing now it seems they've downgraded to something cheaper. Also, there used to be... like adult-sized juices sold here. Apple, orange etc in bottles that were like 16 ounces. This time when I came, the lady handed me these little 10 ounce kid-sized drinks and I was really disappointed. Who ever managing this should be ashamed. You had a good product, stop downgrading.
August 24 We stopped by here due to flat tire on our way to Austin. We looked for some simple chips and queso. Kind of disappointed the chips were kind of stale but the queso was good with the compliment salsa. But, the highlight was the soda fountains with different flavors on a hot Texas summer. Looks like a busy college student hung out place due to its long hours operation. The staffs were attentive and courteous. My rating as 5 is highly satisfied. Taste 4/5 Attentiveness 5/5 Speed of service 4/5 Cleanliness 4/5 Will I return ? Most likely to try their tacos. Will I recommend? Yes.
We came here for breakfast and it’s been a while since I’ve had Fuego. I forgot how large the tacos are! Do not underestimate these. Yes some of them are six dollars but with that being said, you truly only need one and two if you are starving. Tacos are very unique. I would definitely recommend the Dr Pepper cowboy.
Food was great. Highlight of the experience. The Fuego steak taco was super delicious and probably one of the best tacos I've ever had. The issue is that it took almost an hour to get our food. It may have been an off day, or it was crowded, but on a Friday night in a college town, it seemed understaffed. The service was less than ideal. Staff is friendly and welcoming. But they fail to see small details. Both soda machines did not have any ice, some of the sodas did not dispense and were out, and some tables were not cleaned. And they delieved the wrong food or were unfamiliar with the menu item being delivered. Atmosphere was fine. It's like a Chipotle, or any other counter service restaurant.
The service was okay. Employees were friendly enough. I ordered the Buffalo Bill, fries, and charro beans. I liked the Buffalo Bill, but the fries were dry despite the seasoning; maybe the seasoning was not well applied to the fries. I really did not like the beans either. They were also not seasoned well. The decor of the restaurant was very nice, but the restrooms were not clean at all. I also noticed that the pillar in front of the entrance is tipped slightly, so don't lean on it. Overall, dinner here was decent. I would never complain to eat here, but wouldn't recommend either.
the food is good here but the drive thru is extremely slow, there’s only one person ahead of me in line and i will be waiting almost 30 mins even when they aren’t that busy instead. the consistent slow service makes me not want to come here
As a longtime Fuego enjoyer who knew it as a standalone College Station restaurant, it’s pretty sad to see how much the quality has declined here. Maybe it was just this location, but the food was mediocre at best. Guacamole was completely unsalted, used old avocados, and had some of the skin still in it. Fuego bowl was probably at least half rice and didn’t have much flavor. I had hoped Fuego would age like Tom Cruise, now it seems a bit more like a Danny Devito.
I don’t know what happened but Fuego used to be the go to breakfast taco place and lately the quality is so disappointing. Something has changed with the tortillas as they are suddenly so thin and harden fast. This was NEVER a problem at Fuego. They had the best tortillas in town. I don’t know if it’s a change for the whole establishment or if it’s the staff just being lazy and not wanting to make tortillas. These are obviously not made fresh which is crazy considering how long it takes to get through the drive thru line. I’m just sad and disappointed :(
Update on the review! Fuego took special care to make things right. I thank you so much!!!! 5 stars! I chose Fuego for the special they were running. The special 20% off Tacos ran until 2am. I arrived at 1:50. Stood at the counter with 3 guys in front of me. Did not get served until 2:03. I was told that I could not get the special since it was 2:03. Honestly, I feel like they could do better. It was ok that they didn't get to is for awhile but I feel they should honor the special since it was out of my control that they could not wait on me for that period of time. My ticket came to $27. Not a terribly small ticket....
Im here after the Baylor game, its pretty cramped. 20 min wait for the food while others have been waiting for 30 min (as seen on the CA screen) So based on the reviews it does shows that this location is fairly slow so ill rate it 2 for service. Atmosphere is pretty trash when its busy, people trying take your table as soon as you get your food. The dr Pepper taco was good but was it worth $7 with no drink? With maybe a side of chips? Doesnt have to be a big tray of chips just a small tray (smaller than the yellow tray) Idk i say this restaurant and have wanted to have it. But the appetizer really helped fill us up (pint of guac with chips for $10) And the Brownie is nothing to write home about. Honestly, probably wouldnt return bc 1. I live in killeen 2. The price is not there You can probably get more value elsewhere. I hate sitting and knowing someone is eyeing where im sitting (mind you we sat outside!)
I have been a long time fan of Fuego. First in College Station and this one as well. I am usually amazed at the quality. This afternoon was a swing and a miss. I miss the fresco queso- being replaced by shredded jack cheese on tacos but power through it. I had an El Presidente. It was fine. It just wasn’t the normal quality that I’ve become accustomed to there. The queso. This has been my go to favorite queso for years. Today- it was bad. Really bad. The taste was close to normal but I think it had been cut with something. It wasn’t the creamy normal awesomeness- it was thiner and had an odd off taste. Maybe had milk added? It wasn’t just bad- took a few bites and threw it away bad. In full transparency, I did stop at about 5 o’clock on a Sunday afternoon. I was the only one in line in the drive-through and it took 10 minutes to make the order. Maybe I was the last of a batch I don’t know. I’m willing to give it another try, but the whole experience was just off. I’m hoping they didn’t change the recipe and this was just a bad experience.
I’ve been eating at Fuego since 2008 and never have I been served this watery substance they call queso. That’s disrespectful to queso. When I asked manager if they could fix it he told me something about it being too thick and this was the new process. If that’s true just change the sign to Chipotle. Ain’t nobody complaining about queso being too thick. The steak was also basically chipped beef and there like a spoonful of it on my Fuego Steak taco. If steak is in the name, I feel like it should be the star of the taco. Honestly I’m flabbergasted by this experience. I hope it never happens again. Oh and atmosphere gets two stars for unclean tables, they had clearly wiped them but disregarded the food stuck to the edges and paper towel holders.
ABSOLUTELY CRAZY YALL DELETED MY LAST REVIEW!!! AT THIS POINT I THINK YALL SUPPORT WOMEN BEING LOOKED AT AS OBJECTS!!! I caught a manager that goes by the name Eric multiple times looking at females behind no matter their age. He is also a big flirt, this is so unprofessional and should not be happening in the work place. TIME AND PLACE!!!
Fuego has changed… stopped in for dinner and was shocked at how the quality has tanked. Everything was lacking in flavor or completely overtaken by one ingredient. One taco tasted only like Chipotle ranch, while we added 4 salt packets to a small gauc. Overall, very disappointing!
I am not one to leave reviews for fast food or ever really complain about fast food service BUT…. Potato, egg, and cheese taco….. I came back because they forgot to add cheese and THIS is what they handed me in my bag. When I pulled back around for the THIRD time, I asked to speak to a manager because…??? Are you serious??? Like does my worst enemy work here?? Turns out - it was the MANAGER who told the girl to hand that back to me. This type of carelessness is just unacceptable and could potentially end up sending a customer to the hospital. I was literally in disbelief. Also no one ever goes to fuego and gets their order 100% correct. Most of the time when I ask for EASY EGG, I get a taco full of egg. It’s fast food - not rocket science 😭 Yall need to vet & train your staff way better.
