Manakish Oven & Grill Walnut Creek Reviews
I'm Lebanese, and this is some of the best Mediterranean food I've had in a VERY long time! The food was so fresh and flavorful, well-seasoned, the meats were perfectly cooked and juicy, the bread was soft and warm, the sauces were tangy and refreshing. Very authentic. My mom got the kafta kebab plate and I had the chicken, both were wonderful. I already want to go back and try the lamb and it's only been one day! The staff was friendly and accommodating. I will absolutely be back, I'm bringing everyone I know to try this authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. I'm only sad my little Lebanese Gramma is no longer with us, she would have LOVED this place! 10/10, definitely recommend!
Manakish Oven and Grill is, hands down, the best Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food spot in North America! I had the pleasure to dine in the restaurant (pre-COVID) during my last visit to NorCal. For my second time trying it I had it hand-delivered with a friend who was driving down to Los Angeles and they were still super delicious!!! Fresh ingredients, monstrously generous proportions (especially for the price) and all of their meat is 100% Halal! Highly recommended :)
I read a glowing food critic review about this restaurant. I've been back over five times since then. Wonderful dishes. Great flavors. Nice people. Both indoor and outdoor seating.
Loved this restaurant! Food was amazing and definitely fresh. Loved the seasonings and was very satisfied with my whole meal. Good portion sizes too!
Amazing food and super friendly staff. The portions are huge and super tasty. Highly recommend the jalapeño hummus!! Been here twice and it gets better every time. The keftah, chicken, and falafel are amazing!
Food was delicious! We picked up takeout, and the service was fast and friendly.
Some of the best Mediterranean food I’ve had in a LONG TIME! I used to work for a Lebanese restaurant/family. Definitely the spicy harissa fries are one of my favorites ❤️
Delicious Mediterranean food. Fresh and generous portions. I had the beef shawarma plate with half rice and half veggies. I'd love to return in the morning and try the pistachio latte
Edit- I'm not sure how my phone gave my previous review, just three stars without a review. This place is just amazing. I highly recommend the jalapeno hummus. All the dishes I've tried have been excellent. The parking lot was a little hard to find. But other than that, this place is a gem
Great Breakfast. I had the Sujuk Omelet, and Moroccan Shak Shouka breakfast. The food was hot and fresh with plenty of bread included. A great place for breakfast. Perfect!
Went there last night and also today! The food is amazing and reminds us of our childhood in the Middle East..the whole family enjoyed it very much. Friendly staff, clean premises and delicious middle eastern food! Definitely recommend trying the desserts as they are not super-sweet and yet flavorful
WOW! The food was soo good!! And there was A LOT of it. We're from out of town and tried this place because it's close to our hotel. We're probably going to go back again before we head home. Yum, thank you for making our night.
An amazing place. Fresh, wholesome, delicious and consistent food and the sweetest people. We come in every chance we get, but we’ve had good experiences ordering in, too - meals are thoughtfully packaged for delivery and our food always arrives in perfect shape. We love Manakish. So glad these folks are here.
First time visit and now I’ll be a regular. Place looks fantastic. Employees were welcoming and explained their offerings well. I placed a to go order of several of their manakish, salads, hummus, boreks, and pastries. Portions were large, tasty, and cooked to perfection. They have the best pizza style dough I’ve had. Authentic food with excellent service at very reasonable prices. My family and friends enjoyed this special lunch.
We usually get our food delivered but today we picked up-staff was friendly and restaurant seemed clean and comfortable. We will dine in next time. Thanks!
The food at Manakish Oven was absolutely delicious! The portions were generous and perfect for sharing. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the kenafa was amazing-definitely a must-try! We had a wonderful experience and will be coming back for sure.
Manakish is the best restaurant in Walnut Creek. All the food is fresh and delicious. Music is on point. Order direct and pickup like once a week.
A lot of food for a good price. My wife and I tried lunch here today. Loved it all. We shared bites begrudgingly and agreed that both orders were great. First was a Tri-tip Shawarma bowl with rice. The flavor combinations with the pickled veggies, hummus and a cucumber tomato salad were sooo tasty. Second was the Chicken and Cheese Flatbread with garlic sauce, Onions and Cilantro...just a mild but hearty deliciousness in each bite. Lastly, we had an original Kanafeh. Made with shredded pastry dough, sweet cheese, and topped with crushed pistachio, this was a crunchy, doughy, sweet, creamy dessert. There was a container with cardamom syrup with it, but was already sweet enough. I would recommend Manakish for lunch.
Absolutely amazing experience at Manakish Oven & Grill! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a perfect meal. The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful. On top of that, the service was outstanding! The owner & staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. A TRUE family experience! You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they do. If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality Middle Eastern food with top-notch service, Manakish Oven & Grill is the place to go. Highly recommend it in Walnut Creek, CA and will definitely be coming!
I have been seeing this restaurant for a while and finally decided to give it a try. We went there for lunch and it was pretty empty because it was raining but I still like the beautiful blue vibes around the restaurant with cute chandeliers which we're giving very Turkish vibes. For food we got lentil soup, pepperoni pizza (so happy it's halal), kefta kabob plate, chicken and beef shawarma bowl, beef shawarma wrap (which was loaded with meat), and chicken fries. Everything was super fresh and piping hot. We loved everything cause it was so delicious, fresh and colorful! Will definitely come back!
Place was clean. The food was really good the second time. Owners do pay attention to their customer's reviews, they have modified the chicken Kebab recipe, and it was perfect this time. We didn't try falafel this time, but I'm sure next time when we try, it would be better than the one we tried previously.. Service was friendly and timely. it took to prepare the food was fare, because they can't rush the cooking process. I hope owners maintain the quality and taste of their food. The presentation is always good. I think the management has changed. The prices are higher and quantity has decreased so much, not worth the money.
We love Manakish for our Board Retreat meetings. A friendly reminder, be sure you have your own plates and serving utensils. Food is always fresh, delicious, and warm.
If you love Mediterranean food, @manakishoven got you!! Definitely the best place for Manakish in Walnut Creek. Don't get me started with the Zaatar & Whipped Kefir Manakish! I just love the taste of Zaatar, it's so exotic and delicious. All the food we ordered was so good, the Beef Shawarma Fries was so good! Must order! The Lamb Kebab Wrap was so flavorful with a hint of spiciness; while the Kefta Kebab Plate was everything you need in a meal, with creaminess from the hummus, crunchy salad, and the meat was so tender and yummy. Of course, I had to order the Lamb Kebab Salad. It was huge and beautifully made, so refreshing and delish. 🍰Oh, don't forget desserts, we decided to try the Cheese Kanafeh, it was so flaky, cheesy, savory, and sweet — all at the same time.
Delicious generous servings, and a cozy spot with good service! There’s a large menu of flatbreads, wraps, bowls, desserts, and more. I got the tri tip shwarma bowl and cauliflower flatbread. Both were flavorful, lots of vegetables, and large. My friend is vegan and he also found plenty on the menu to eat. There’s also a cute patio which feels intimate, thanks to their landscaping and lights, even though it’s on a major road. Definitely think this deserves a higher star rating than it has currently.
I had a ‘Pick up’ order. My brother came home with massive amounts of food. We were all stuffed but couldn’t stop eating. The shawarma chicken & pork were very well enjoyed & a couple of us have enough leftovers for lunch today! Delicious food!!
Apparently, it's a Lebanese restaurant which is not so evident in Google search. Glad to have found this restaurant. Definitely try their Pita bread. It was so soft and warm. The hummus was slightly on the sour side but went well with pita bread. We also got their pizza. The crust was perfectly baked. It was fresh, crispy and smelled great. The cheese on top of the pizza was not so great. But the herbs used in pizza compensated for it. They have a very nice outdoor place.
Great chill lunch spot! Had the falafel flatbread and it was really yummy. I would like to try the cauliflower/eggplant protein option next time.
Just visited their soft opening and was pleasantly surprised by the taste and authenticity. We got 2 manakish, 2 sides and a cake. Zaatar with whipped labne manakish- very authentic, just like Lebanon. Crunchy bottom crust, and soft dough. Nice acidity on the lebne and refreshing tomato/cucumber salad on top. Cauliflower and eggplant manakish - blew my mind! The deep fried cauliflower and eggplant were cooked perfectly. The harissa sauce stole the show. Absolutely delicious! Jalapeño hummus - this makes all the store brought hummus taste like garbage. Just like how mom used to make it with a twist. Babaganoush - delightful, you can tell they used fresh ingredients. Saffron orange cake - perfect pair with their iced sage tea. Not too sweet and full of flavor. Tl;dr - If you’re Middle Eastern, expect authentic food. If you’re not, this is the healthiest and most flavorful pizza you can get!
The freshest most delicious food ever!!! This is my go to! The lamb kebab plate is amazing, comes with rice, the best homemade hummus and cucumber salad, all the different flavors that go so well together, when I’m done I’m already craving it again! And they are the kindest people always make me feel special and part of the family, you will not be disappointed! Love you so much my Manakish family!!!
I love mediterranean food! We were visiting in town & it was walking distance from our hotel. I ordered a tri tip flat bread, my daughter got the chicken schiwarma wrap, my friend got the falafel bowl, & we started with delicious hummus & pita bread. Everything was soo flavorful & soo good!
We visited the area so I wanted to try a few different things on their menu. The spicy fries were 🔥 delicious! Flatbread "pizzas" were good, as was the jalapeño hummus. I couldn't stop eating their pita bread-it was so soft and fresh tasting. Will come back when we return to the area!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Manakish Oven & Grill, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for the entire meal. The service at Manakish was impeccable. The staff was not only attentive but genuinely friendly, making sure that every need was met with a smile. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring that each dish was prepared to perfection. Now, let's talk about the food. It was simply divine. Every dish was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. I particularly loved Zaatar & Cheese Manakish, which were cooked to perfection and left me craving more with each bite. The blend of spices and herbs used in each dish was masterful, creating a symphony of taste that left a lasting impression. What truly sets Manakish apart is the authenticity of their cuisine. Each dish transported me to the streets of Lebanon, with flavors that were both comforting and adventurous. It's evident that the chefs put their heart and soul into every dish, and their passion shines through in the exceptional quality of the food. Overall, my experience at Manakish Oven & Grill was nothing short of exceptional. From the friendly service to the delicious food, it's clear that this restaurant is a cut above the rest. Whether you're a fan of Lebanese cuisine or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, I highly recommend paying a visit to Manakish. You won't be disappointed.
I've been living in this region for a year and a half. It's one of the best meals I've ever eaten in this region. It suits our palate very well and it's completely compatible with the food of our region. It's really very filling and very clean. It's excellent food. I'd like to thank Manakish for the meals he prepared.
The food is really good. Tasty, fresh and well done. The hummus, tabuleh, babaganoush is so good. They do it right and I've tasted hummus & babaganoush at other places and it's just meh. Not here. I've been happy with everything I've tried. I'd suggest getting your sides to keep in the fridge with their yummy pita bread for snacking. Perfect to bring the sides to gatherings, etc. You'll be happy with their food.
Manakish helped make my office lunch party special and flavorful. The people who eat meat were so happy to try the non meat filling falafel platter. The servings fed 20 even though we only expected it to feed 10! The staff of Manakish are clean and respectful, they treat customers like family and we look forward to ordering again soon!
Starting off with the ambiance they had so many cute details and also a plant wall that was so pretty! The service was amazing everyone was so friendly even with all our questions. A great thing is that they fry meat and veggie stuff separately as a vegetarian that was really appreciated. The food was also so good everything tasted so fresh would recommend the cheesecake for dessert.
Food is very fresh, portions are generous- flavor is great. It is a happy surprise to find a restaurant that truly serves fresh food, the salad was not limping and had no rotting lettuce in it, the meat is fresh. Importantly, the price is commensurate with the amount of food that you get. This is an unpretentious place and staff prides itself in providing great service. The con is that parking is very small.
Love the food from Manakish Walnut Creek! The service is fast, courteous, and overall pleasant. I like bringing my family here to enjoy a late lunch because there’s great outdoor seating (when the weather permits). Definitely order the tri tip shawarma or the cheesy fries.
I went to Manakish Oven for lunch today, around 1pm and the food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the chicken kebab salad, and it was so fresh and flavorful — the sumac dressing on the side made it even tastier. The service was excellent too; the lady at the front was super friendly and helpful. Definitely one of the best lunch spots I’ve been to — I’ll be coming back for sure! They deserve a 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tried this spot and loved it! The manakish was super fresh and flavorful, especially the chicken shawarma one. The hummus and falafel were really good too, and everything tasted homemade. Great portions, lots of tasty sauce options, and the pickles were perfect. Finished with the baklava and it was amazing. Definitely coming back!
I came here with a few friends ordering several dishes. I had the chicken shawarma wraps which were soo GOOD – packed with flavor & you can tell it's authenticity. The shawarma fries tri tip was delicious, I usually like regular fries but THIS added so much flavor to fries I never knew I needed, the sauce was finger licking good! We also had the Cheese Manakish with olives and parsley, which was a perfect starter for me. I highly recommend you coming here with friends to try several dishes, everything tastes so delicious & the portions are great and shareable. The service was great, everyone was so nice. They truly made this place feel welcoming. I definitely will be coming again!!
Manakish Oven and Bar is located in Walnut Creek, CA between Treat and Geary Blv, next to the Habit Grill. It’s Mediterranean food and well-known for their Manakish which is a food consisting of dough topped with thyme, cheese, or ground meat (similar to pizza). I never had manakish before and I decided not to get their manakish because I just chose not to however, I did get their lamb kebab bowl and their chicken wrap. I will review their lamb kebab bowl first. Overall, I really liked the flavors and the flavors that they offer. I like how the bowl was composed together however, the lamb was a bit dry and I wanted a bit more medium-rare on the lamb. It was a little hard to chew but the seasoning was pretty good for the lamb. Everything else on the bowl was well-balanced and I liked the freshness it had with the sauces. I also liked the addition of the greek pico on the side and it’d really a nice cleanser for the palate. The chicken wrap was pretty delicious. Whatever sauce they put in the wrap, it was really delicious. I liked how the sauce tied the wrap together flavor-wise. The flavor of the overall wrap was very delicious and I liked the seasoning but I felt the chicken was a bit dry and didn’t have enough salt. The chicken flavor was still delicious but I would have liked the chicken a bit more moist in my opinion. I did like the addition to the lettus and the other vegetables in it I thought it was nice for the palate as well. I did like how their sauces were homemade and how fresh they were. I was able to try out the baba ganoush sauce which is a dipping sauce with mashed eggplants with tahini and olive oil. I loved the flavor of the baba ganoush and how fresh it was made. You can really taste the freshness of the sauce and that’s something I give huge props to. Overall, the food was very tasty and delicious and I would recommend this spot if you are ever in the Walnut Creek Area.
A welcome Lebanese style addition to the city's food places, although they basically only sell variations of manakish (no pun!). You can't get shwarma or falafel wraps etc. The local chain Yalla doesn't really sell anything remotely tasting like Mediterranean food. The good thing here is the great bread dough and their behavior. So, I'd only go with their manakish. The tabooleh salad and spinach burek were just ok. The Lahm badjin tasted good with right spices but it feels more like pizza rather than lahm badjin. I still wish their food felt closer to what you get in Lebanon but still happy they opened.
Just got manakeesh. It was yummy and the service was excellent. I wish it could be less pricy though
Food was really good. We did take out for a large group, everyone enjoyed it
Really good food. Got the chicken shawarma wrap and the beef manakesh along with a lamb kebob on the side. Everything was tasty. Venue was clean and nice ambiance. Lots of outdoor seating. Staff was friendly. I would definitely say that the place is not inexpensive, as me and my wife with those three items and no drinks was over $40. If it was a few bucks less and we didn't have to eat in to-go boxes, I'd rate this place a full five stars.
I recently visited Manakish Oven & Grill, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The restaurant itself seemed inviting with a modern interior and a clear emphasis on Middle Eastern cuisine. However, the food quality left much to be desired. I ordered a grilled dish, and what I received was a piece of food that was excessively charred. The burnt exterior overpowered any flavor the dish might have had, making it nearly inedible. It’s clear that the grilling process was not monitored properly, resulting in a poor culinary experience. The accompanying sides were standard, but the main dish, which should have been the highlight, was a complete letdown. Overall, while the atmosphere of Manakish is pleasant, the quality of the food, at least in my experience, was far below expectations. I hope this was an isolated incident, but it would make me hesitant to return.
Very tasty food with great options! Took a bit for the order to come out, but got the falafel fetteh bowl, which came with a lot of falafels, nice and crispy and a good amount of hummus and veggies. The manakish is essentially a medium sized pizza. If you get cheese, it really is a pizza! Ordered the cauliflower and eggplant which had terrific flavors. Beef swarma wrap was a large size, which my friend said the meat was good but not super flavorful. Overall, great options for vegetarians and non vegetarians and I would come again and recommend.
Clean nice place for a getaway dine in. Parking is sufficient. Google Maps takes us to the wrong side of this place. Spicy Chicken Shawarma Wraps are good but could have been better. Their packaging and serving sizes are adequate. 2024 update: Ordered Chicken Kebab Plate and Chicken Shawarma Wrap. Serving sizes are good and food tasted okay! Still feel they can work on their sauces to taste better! Overall ambiance and service is excellent!
The food is delicious but the service was not all that great. I ordered a wrap that took approximately 15 minutes for me to get and I was the only person in the restaurant. Very quiet atmosphere and seems to be family owned. Seating on inside and outside patio area. Cool drink options from the refrigerator. Jalapeno hummus is 🔥 and the lamb gyro is very good. Def would eat here again.
This is the second time I have been to this restaurant. The first time it was amazing, organized and well managed. This time it seems like things are not managed. Perhaps they’re shorthanded or something. The food was still good but it was delays in getting the orders out. I was disappointed and hope they can get it together. I loved lahm bajin. We wanted to have kunefe but they don’t offer tea to go with it.
Taste great! But this is probably the most inflated price for manakeesh ive ever seen, definitely treating this place purely as a treat only
Hesitant between 3 and 4 stars, however remembering the taste of the beef kebab, marinated reddish in hummus and “fresh” salad with pickles will go for 3. Cute place with the inside and outside seating. Nice, middle eastern music played on the background. No one asked for vacation status for inside dining. We were treated warm and very friendly. Host recommended to order Lahm-bajin (pizza type flat bread with ground beef, onions and greens), that is definitely worth giving a try. This flatbread should be the flagman of the place. Baba Ganesh was something new for us to experience. Light and flavorful. We really liked it. Beef kebob was a little bit of failure (chewy and tough), along with 1 lb of flat, tasteless sticky rise, soggy and flavorless “fresh“ salad with weird tasting copped pickles and hummus. Overall this place is not bad, however have no desire on coming back.
Came here for dinner recently. While the food was excellent the service seems to have declined greatly. They were very understaffed, with many people waiting for their doordash and pickup orders for over 20 minutes. To make matters worse the inside of this place is very disorganized. There is stuff everywhere, but ironically if you want a plate or ketchup it is behind the counter where you can’t get it. I don’t know that I will come back after this..Not a lot of parking here either which is rough, so idk if it’s worth the trouble
Great service and atmosphere. The flatbreads are fresh and they come with pizza toppings; not sure if the pita is homemade, it’s ok quality wise though. Fresh squeezed juices are good but have plenty of added sugar. Baklava looked good although we didn’t try it. Kanafeh dessert is simply delicious. Baba ganoush was good hummus excessively salty.
We tried Manakish for the first time and my girls were hoping to try out the flatbread as well as a few other things on the menu. Unfortunately, they were out of flatbread along with several other menu items which certainly altered what we planned to order. I don’t recall what the girls got but it wasn’t good. I got a falafel wrap and couldn’t finish even half. Very fresh food and well prepared but the flavors were terrible. On the other hand, the only other person in the restaurant seemed to like his food fine. As a side note, the place is very messy with things scattered and stacked in various locations and there is a weird bar type thing that is used for storage instead of anything else. I gave it three stars because the food they did have was fresh and the staff seemed friendly enough even though there was some obvious drama going on with a few employees. I’m 99% sure I won’t be back.
The food is good but the price varies on in person and delivery by an order of magnitude. The flatbread is priced like a pizza but its not as filling as a pizza and there isn’t enough meat on it. So you always have to order more and then its too expensive.
The food wasn’t bad, but I don’t think it was a great value. I paid $25 for about 4 pieces of chicken, rice and pita. Food was slow to come out, but the guy before me placed a big order. Just randomly stopped in as I drove back to SF, I just don’t think the value is there for the amount served.
I recently visited Manakish and found the ambiance pleasant with a wide variety of options. However, the food was overpriced. For instance, the $16 shawarma wrap used a wrap that tasted store-bought rather than homemade or authentic lavash. The kabob plate had a small serving size and was not worth the price. Additionally, the kunafeh was overcooked. Unless the quality improves, I don't plan on returning.
Take out. Meh…The food was just “okay”. Tritip Shawarma was more like short ribs. Chicken Shawarma was decent. Lahm-bajin flat bread had a nice texture to it, but not very tasty. It may have been an “off day”. With this experience, I didn’t find it comparable to other Lebanese restaurants like Zankou chicken in Los Angeles area
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The food was completely disappointing and not worth the money. The dishes we ordered were missing many ingredients that were listed on the menu, and the flavor was severely lacking. To top it off, the service was abysmal. Our server seemed completely uninterested and didn't even bother to provide basic amenities like sauce or napkins. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and wouldn't spend another dollar here if you paid me. The whole experience was dry, boring, and unappetizing.
Ordered hummus, kefta kebab with salad, and felafel bowl, total $61. The food is good kefta was really salty and they did not include any salad dressing, neither Tahini nor sumac as shown in picture. Called the restaurant and told the manager about missing items. She was not only apologetic but also, saying that extra dressing is 2 dollars and they would give me a free one next time. I demanded they send me a dressing, and she kept repeating that that supposedly if I am honest, i can go and pick up dressing at store. I think that is not fair to charge $25 for a salad and expect customers to come and pick up the dressing from the store. I expect them to respect customers and accept their mistakes and accommodate accordingly.
I ordered online Beaf shwarma wrap, the meat was kind of kenaf, was hard to chewing/swallow The food quality was worse, no taste at all, when I opened the bag, there was not any napkins and and spices.
I got food poisoning from this place! I love Mediterranean food but do yourself a favor and stay away from this place - right off the bat I got bad feeling about the level of hygiene maintained in this place as I’ve notice workers touching every surface possible and then touching the food. I was hungry so I decided to take the risk - the food came and was a huge disappointment , cold hummus right from the box, overcooked Kabab that tasted like it was reheated and even the salad didn’t taste any fresh. I ate about %20 of the dish and left the rest - still, later that night I suffered from severe food poisoning and had to skip work the next day! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place !
