Stopped off for late lunch with Nan, Auntie, Sister and our little dog. Excellent service with friendly young girl, huge portions, high quality meals. Nice little visit on our holiday. Wheelchair & Dog friendly!
Was on our way home to Kent from a few days in Swanage when we decided to stop off in Wareham. Chanced upon The Quay Inn and glad we did. I decided to try something with a bit more flavour (altho I love a Full English generally) so had the Wareham Spicy Eggs and they didn't disappoint! My brother in law went large on the Full English and it was impressive!! Sis had the berry pancakes and those too were lovely. Couldn't fault it at all plus a decent amount of tea rather than just one cup. Definitely recommend!
We came here for dinner, expecting regular pub grub but turned out to be a really amazing eating experience! We ordered the lobster bisque, burger, share starter of bao buns, wings and Camembert cheese with bread, steak& ale pie and loaded chips. See the photo for the great presentation of it all!! Overall amazing food, all tasted very fresh and well seasoned. My only note would be some gravy with the pie, but could just be my preference. Spoke to the chef afterwards too, very friendly man who gave insights into what we ate! 10/10 definitely recommend anybody to eat here.
After a lovely sunny afternoon in Swanage, we found this place for a lovely evening meal before the drive home. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere made more homely by the pleasant decor and warm inviting fire. We decided on the steak and ale pie, rustic chips and peas and the steak and rustic chips with salad followed by toffee apple crumble with custard washed down with a couple of ciders. Delicious! Both of us saying it was the best meal we've had out in ages and would definitely visit again.
Photos don't do them justice, the Katsu and Beef burgers were incredible, the chips were some of the best I've ever had. Service was attentive and friendly, huge range of drinks in a great location. The bao buns were a great starter but the portion sizes made starters nearly redundant! Will be back again!
Lovely food and very friendly place
Camping nearby, fancied a walk by the river. Afterwards, we stopped in here for a bite to eat. Friendly, warm welcome, dogs included. Food was also good, will definitely be returning soon.
Had late lunch on a Monday. Fish and chips and mackerel pate. Absolutely delicious and excellent value for the size and quality of the meal. Brilliant pub. Really really impressed. X
Sunday Lunch today - amazing attentive service from the two young ladies. Always looking for eye contact to see where everyone was with their meal or drinks - 5* The prawn and crab starter was really fresh with salad that tasted great. Beef roast was tender and all vegetables cooked perfectly with crispy roasts and home made Yorkshire puddings. Dorset apple top notch and local IPA at £4. No wonder they were full!
Great food, lovely waitress called Cat, nice tidy and modern pub with a lovely view
Stayed on Valentines night and was not disappointed at all! Great atmosphere in the pub, decorated beautifully for Valentines. The special cocktails were gorgeous. Great location and the room was nice. Bed very comfy. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb. Will definitely stay again. Thank you
Great atmosphere with a lovely roaring open fire . Bar and serving staff were excellent & super efficient . We had wings to start as a sharer which were nicely spiced, and had a sirloin steak for mains which was cooked to perfection. I’m always wary of steak and generally avoid as I’ve been disappointed many times but the landlord Mike assured us they would be great. Such a good location next to the river ,we’re definitely going back
My wife and I had the most amazing meal at The Quay Inn at Wareham. The food was superb from start to finish. Some really great cooking and exceptional flavours. Would highly recommend!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely banging steak night at The Quay. Cooking your own steak on a volcanic rock sounds a bit gimmicky… until you do it and realise it’s elite. Sizzling, perfectly cooked exactly how you want it, with zero room for disappointment. Caveman energy in the best possible way. The chips? Flawless. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside – the holy grail of chip engineering. Whoever’s in charge of chips here deserves a raise and a small statue. Also had the crispy chilli chicken bao buns and honestly… lush doesn’t even cover it. Crispy, saucy, soft bun perfection – I’d go back just for those. Great food, fun experience, and left extremely full and very happy. If you like steak, chips done properly, and food that makes you smile while eating it – this is your place. 🔥🥩🍟
I have recently had the pleasure of booking a works Christmas party at The Quay. From the start, Luke couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was a problem at all. There were 30 of us booked to attend, we had a DJ who by the end of the meal had everyone up on their feet. The food was amazing and plentiful. I've had people comment to me how its the best food they've had at a works Christmas party. Everything was fresh and brought out hot. The staff were all amazing and very attentive throughout the night, from bringing out the meals with people's names rather than everyone trying to remember what they ordered, to making sure the bar service was speedy, everyone was so friendly. I wasn't away that The Quay was able to host such a large party indoors, but I've had lots of staff members ask if I can book it again next year! Thank you Luke and the team for an amazing night, and we'll see you again next year, I hope you can get us all in because I'm expecting many more to join us after this success!!
A very enjoyable 2 night B&B stay with friends. 2 rooms located in a adjacent building, above ice cream shop. Steep stairs to access the rooms. Our room, small but comfy, clean and tidy. Coffee/tea and biscuits made available. Small ensuite with walk in shower. Booked meal in the restaurant, very good food, especially the steal & Stilton pie and the salmon. Great serving staff, all youngsters, who were all really friendly, polite and efficient. Good selection for breakfast. Located just on the edge of town, easy to get to, parking is in a public car park, not too many spaces, you have to pay from 8-6, Sunday free. Would definitely stay again.
Superb meals my wife and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary with steak meals black rock style very nice polite staff and professional explained everything .As locals we look forward to visiting the Quay as a group next time.
Lovely cozy atmosphere, very attentive staff. We had soup, falafel burger and Turkey roast, everything was made to perfection. Coffee and dessert were also delightful. No booking was needed.
Found this little gem while on a short break from the world. Stopped off for lunch, and it is just a lovely proper country pub. Staff are so looked and helpful. They dont rush you or bother you just leave you to your meal. While in there I see a stake night poster and thought I'd book a table and what a night. Food was lovely staff was brilliant .
Love this place when visiting Wareham. Right on the quay so you can watch the world and boats go by sitting in the sunshine. Good prices. Really nice food for roast or snack. Have never stayed so don't know about the rooms.
We had a fantastic experience at The Quay Inn in Wareham! We arrived just five minutes after breakfast service had officially finished, but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The chef kindly offered to cook our breakfast anyway, and it was absolutely delicious, served with a proper pot of tea, which was a lovely touch. The service was brilliant from start to finish, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend for both the food and the warm welcome!
The food is amazing — big portions, loads of flavour, and really well done. The staff are super friendly and make you feel right at home. Perfect spot for a meal or a few drinks with friends.
I am currently having the most gorgeous evening meal here. Food is absolutely fabulous, staff so friendly and helpful.xant recommend highly enough.
Great location as right on the river. Really enjoyed my vegetarian Wellington and the Dorset Apple Cake fabulous
Great service tonight dirty fries were lovely and the tacos we had were awesome great cosy pub and fantastic service by Megan. Thank you so much team fish4junk
Fantastic Christmas meal for 12 of us, lovely food and great service. Highly recommend.
What an lovely place , friendly service with a smile, always works, great food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
we had a lovely visit to the quay inn this last weekend, and stayed in the B&B, as my boyfriend was competing in a local running race! a huge shoutout to the young blonde waitress who went above and beyond to look after me as my boyfriend was away - showing me to the room and ensuring i was able to still have a delicious breakfast despite my boyfriend not being around, as well as allowing me to have his breakfast portion ‘to go’!! a huge thank you to both front and back of house. the hotel was great - cosy room with everything you need, located right by the river!! a lovely stay overall! just be warned the farmers market begins setting up at 5am on saturdays - so make sure to close your window else you’ll be woken up!! luckily we needed to be awake to get to the race, however just bare in mind. however, was such a lovely stay, highly recommend.
The best breakfast I've had in a very long time, worth travelling for.
Lovely pub lunch very acomodating to the dietary needs . Polite staff who made sure we felt welcomed and checked on us a couple of times . Although busy, nothing was too much trouble . Food was tasty plenty of and of excellent local quality . Thank you we will be back .
We were very pleased to find, that atjo 3.15pm on a Friday, after a long cold walk, the Quay was still serving food and had the fires going. We were equally happy with the food, the beer, the prices and the service. We did not actually try the rooms, but I am positive they would be worth 5 stars. All very good. August: Have just returned for another visit. All the above still stands. Five of us all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the excellent service. Plus, with a tasty local ale at just £3.50 a pint we are now contemplating moving to Wareham!
Went there for a meal (4 adults 2 teenagers) phoned reasonably late but they still managed to fit us in.
Lovely welcome on arrival. Staff were friendly and helpful. All food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Prices are reasonable for the excellent quality of food. Great evening out and would highly recommend.
All food is lovely and nice clean and lagars other drinks nice too
Had a superb moules frites at The Quay yesterday, highly recommended! Plus a pint of good real ale is £3.80. Lovely staff and service too!
The first pub we went into had no tables so we popped into the quay inn instead. What a great turn of fate. This pub was an absolute delight. I had the burger with extra bacon and blue Vinny cheese. The other members of our party had hunters chicken and the steak and ale pie. The food was outstanding and my burger was the best I have ever had. Absolutely delicious. Empty plates and full stomachs all round. The staff were very friendly with service with a smile. Cannot recommend this pub enough if you are in the Wareham area. We will definitely go back, if not this week, the next time we are holidaying here. First class👍
Had the Sunday lunch. Beef. It was delicious. Everything perfectly cooked. Service was really nice too, didn't rush us at all which I really appreciated given we were there to have a relaxing lunch. Beers were also very nice. Looking forward to coming back again.
Had a meal here on a day out to Wareham. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere. I had a very tasty falafel burger with a glass of Dorset cider, which tasted like real cider! I would recommend.
Visit this place every time I'm in Wareham. Good selection of drinks, good menu and lovely staff. Outside seating and right by the river. Tonight was steak night. Quality meat, well presented and you cook it yourself to your liking. Loved the chips and salad. Staff were very busy but outstanding in service and very friendly.
Lovely food and friendly staff, made us feel very welcome
The staff are very welcoming. Food was Amazing. Love it. Came last year and now will be a yearly Easter break away for us
Had an evening meal which was good value and delicious. The best steak I've had in a very long time. Sticky toffee pudding was great too although could have done with an extra blob of ice-cream given how large the portion was.
Had a wonderful meal there last night, food was amazing and the service went above and beyond, a young lady whose name I believe begins with M, I’m sorry I can’t remember her full name. Thank you will be returning very soon. What a beautiful place out for a meal.
Lovely place to stay, the rooms are situated in a very quaint building above a small shop. The room was up a steep staircase so not suitable if you are unable to climb stairs. But the view from the room was lovely, the room itself was small but clean and tidy with tea making facilities. The pub itself was lovely with very friendly staff who were happy to help in any way, the food both in the evening band at breakfast was great. Thank you to all
Popped into The Quay inn, originally for a light breakfast after the Market in Wareham. Politely informed that kitchen was shut for an hour and would be open at mid day. Went away for five minutes before returning and had a drink. Ordered a farmers ploughman's lunch which consisted of a variety of local cheese. Sourdough bread local ham and pork pie. With a lovely chutney. Very impressed with the lunch and not outrageously priced compared with similar pubs. Three ales on draught. I chose Timothy Taylor's landlord. Which was well kept. Would recommend
We went on a Tuesday for steak night (steak is cooked on individual hot stones at your table). In our group of six, one of the steaks seemed off, by smell and taste. We brought it to their attention, so they delivered us a replacement piece of steak (raw), but not the stone to cook it. We asked them how our friend was supposed to cook the replacement steak, as the stone had already cooled. Reluctantly he suggested the chef in the kitchen could cook it, which we accepted. We were all a bit shocked by this odd service interaction, which slightly spoiled our overall experience.
We went for the Tuesday steak night. Buy 1 steak and get 1 for £1. Unusually the steaks came on a hot stone so we could cook them to how we liked them. Came with chips and a side salad. Very much enjoyed. 2 steaks and 2 pints cost me £35 very good value
Lovely Sunday roast meal. The staff were very helpful and the pub was situated nicely overlooking the River.
Called in for a meal whilst on holiday in the area. Nice pub grub. Had a steak and it was cooked to perfection. Set across from the river, lovely spot. Will eat here again on our next visit to the area.
We ate delicious our compliments to the chef! We had Korean bbq chicken and garlic bread we reccomend it. Bit disappointed in the service it was partly self service ( the drinks ) me as myself who works in the hospitality aren’t used to this so I could be my fault but overall I reccomend it. Ps a really nice location and romantic as well
Nice old pub, great location next to the river, serving really good food, excellent choices at decent prices. Dog friendly, very friendly and attentive bar / serving staff. Altogether a very pleasant lunchtime experience!
Lovely location. I think the 7% service charge is high as they didn't do anything exceptional just what you would expect. This isn't a hateful comment but feel the service charge shouldn't automatically be applied. We had a ham and chrese sandwich with side order of chips, the bread wasn't the freshest. Personally would rate it a 6 out of 10. Chips were good.
The pub itself is lovely and the staff were friendly and welcoming. However, I found the breakfast a little below expectations — the portion was quite small (just one egg, one sausage, and one slice of bacon), and the bacon was a bit chewy. I’d definitely come back for a coffee, as the atmosphere is great, but probably not for breakfast next time.
Came here for dinner on a sunny August evening. The location is lovely, just across from the river frome. Staff were largely very friendly. Food, unfortunately, was Wetherspoons quality, served at gastropub prices. Great place to be with a family I’m sure, but they’re ripping you off a new one with the food pricing.
Here for Lunch. This is a pub and not a restaurant. Unfortunately they charge restaurant prices. It's loud, lary and a 8oz steak will set you back over £33! There was one poor girl front of house who couldn't possibly keep up despite her best efforts. We had to wait 15 minutes just to get a dessert menu. I would say it was about 2 thirds full. I wouldn't recommend this place for a meal. Even though the food was good the poor service and level of noise and drunks at 13:00 was way too much for the high price tag
I went to use the toilet of this establishment and the bouncer pinched me by the inside of the arm and then swore at me. He then decided to start shouting verbal abuse at me multiple times. He told me his name was Luke and he was the manager but refused to give me any more information. I would avoid at all costs.
