Cafe Del Rio Mesquite Reviews
Always a pleasure to meet up with my friends for lunch or dinner.
The food was delicious and came nice and hot
I give Cafe del Rio five stars if I could I give them 10 they were very hospitable attentive the food was amazing big size portions like Texans like them and the manager was so so nice he made sure that I was taking care of that you guys should definitely get by there I can't tell you about their drinks because I don't drink but if I'm looking at the bar they were making some pretty delicious looking drinks to have happy hours you guys so get on by there
Food and service was great! Our Waitress was wonderful
We have passed this place numerous times and kept saying we wanted to try it out. That happened today when many of the other restaurants in the surrounding area were all packed and had long wait times due to the holiday. This place had no wait time on such a busy night. The wait staff was so on point the whole night. But the star of the show was the food! I wasn't expecting to get a steak at a Tex Mex place, nor was I expecting the steak to be cooked perfectly! Entire experience was excellent and we will be back.
After a long, exhausting day, I sat at the bar just looking to unwind with a shot of tequila and a margarita—and I’m so glad I did. Ruby, the bartender, was a true standout. Her energy was professional, fun, and effortlessly welcoming. She treated everyone with the same enthusiasm, kept the drinks flowing quickly, and created a vibe that made everyone feel at home. She turned a simple stop into a great experience. Café del Rio is already a gem, but with people like Ruby behind the bar, this place isn’t just good—it’s going places.
I got the enchilada dos and literally no complaints 10/10 but ima need bout 2 more
Service is always nice waiters are especially nice and food is great
The best Mexican food in Dallas hand's down. Every dish is made fresh, spices are popping with flavor. The food is not heavy on your stomach. Fresh homemade chips and salsa. Fresh homemade tortillas, they do it right in your face at the entry in the restaurant. Highly recommended
Had a great experience, food is REALLY GOOD! And to top it of, we recieved excellent service from the bartender Pedro. Will be coming back more often!
This was not the intended restaurant for me and my group we were going to Texas Roadhouse but it was full and not the right atmosphere. We decided to go next door to del Rio and it was great. Our waitress Cindy was the best ever, she was so sweet and friendly she deserves the best. Our food was great had leftovers and the atmosphere was great and welcoming. Will be returning
Awesome habanero ranch. Decent drinks. Plus he supports the GREATEST PRESIDENT EVER in DONALD J. TRUMP!! Awesome establishment!
What a great spot for a nice time out with friends or maybe a romantic dinner. The waitstaff is great and really happy to help you. Check out the fresh salsa options for the free tortilla chips that are house made and amazing. I have been here several times and have enjoyed everything so far. Highly recommend this place!
Great food and service. A lot of the negative reviews are because someone's family member got fired and she went on Facebook and got everyone riled up
I love the service here AURI AND SARAH are the BEST EVER! The manager Cassie is so sweet and professional! The manager with the nike mask is cool as well but i dont know his name. I get HIGH QUALITY SERVICE EVERYTIME! The lady at the front with the short curly hair is always POLITE and she seats you in good spots!
Food was amazing, service was quick and attentive Margaritas were excellent
Went today for lunch. Very clean dining room and friendly staff. Chips n salsa were good and food was delicious.
Celebrating was a great experience for my birthday Food was delicious and customer service was excellent We had a blast with our family of 38 on a Wednesday evening
8/20/22: This was our first visit. We watched a movie at AMC 30 and this location was nearby. There was plenty of parking available around 9pm, and it was not too busy for a Saturday evening. We asked to sit in the bar area and Anneth took care of us. She was very friendly, a great hostess, and bartender. I had a draft beer, which was very cold, and she had a watermelon margarita. We ordered stuffed jalapeños, chicken nachos and a chicken burrito plate. Jojo brought our food and he was very nice. The food arrived at the same time, and the portions were huge! The food was hot and freshly prepared. We enjoyed the atmosphere and there were several seating areas, indoor and out. The have a large patio area. We would definitely eat here again!
we initially went to go to Texas Roadhouse but stumbled upon this place and last minute changed our minds and just stepping off the car by the shell if the food filling the parking lot knew we were making the right choice, food was so amazing and good the staff was friendly and welcoming and the beer came out super cold so big plus. 👌 mesquite is a little far for us but we'll definitely make the drive for this place!
Amazing service and food! We went early so everything was fast and super fresh!! The habenero ranch was to die for and I couldn't stop eating the chips and salsa. When our fajitas came out there was a side of fajita butter and it was bubbling! Kenny was a wonderful server. We will definitely be returning.
We had the BEST server!! Ask for Sam!! He was amazing and the sweetest we never had to ask for anything he stayed on top of everything.
The cheesecake is awesome! Good price for the food you get too. Place isn't a looker but it's pretty good food.
I had the most amazing experience despite all of the negative reviews. Jasmine was our waitress for a holiday party of seven. And she was very attentive. The food was reasonably priced and our group had a great time.
The waitress that handled our 45 people party was absolutely wonderful how she was able to keep everything in order surprises me. She deserves a raise! My food wasn't that good though the fries were really overcooked and my state was a little greasy but that would not stop me from coming back because they have such great customer service
This place was incredible. Our server was so good and the food was impeccable. Really large restaurant. My husband had Crawdad enchiladas and it was packed with meat. We both tried the tijuana sauce on our enchiladas, and it was super tasty. They provide free tortillas with a thing of butter which you rarely ever see or get in any mexican restaurant. They bring several different types of hot sauce, which were all really good.
This restaurant has really good food & service. Not to mention when they bring you the chips & salsa before you order they have a dip called jalapeño ranch. That stuff is awesome you must try it. While you're waiting for your food if you prefer you could request tortillas. And at the table they have butter, salt & pepper that you can put on the tortilla & roll it up & snack on them till your food arrives. The mixed drinks are good as well plus they carry my favorite beer Shiner Bock. They're menu is very good too they have lots of favorites to choose from but if you're not sure what you want you could order what's called the botana platter. It's a mix of different items, it's a sampler plate. They also have Chile relleno with your choice of meat, a plate called three amigos which is 3 enchiladas...1 beef 1 cheese & 1 chicken or you could choose how you want them. They also have seafood if you prefer. All in all it's a great place to go eat & have a good time. The staff is very friendly & helpful. I would go there again & again. Go expirence them, tell your friends & family...you won't be disappointed.
VISIT: 12/16/24 around 8pm This location was dead (very very slow) by the time me and my plus 1 arrived, keep that in mind when reading this review. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FOOD: 5/5 -Very delicious, seasoned perfectly, i highly recommend getting the Beef Fajita Burrito*, it puts the regular beef to shame!. -Although the food did take a little longer than expected it did arrive burning HOT (temp wise)which is great. -The Diablo Queso* was hot and fresh, went great with the chips and cheese, would Highly recommend it to those who love Spicer Queso. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SERVICE: 4/5 -As mentioned before the place was very slow (as in customer traffic), yet the food did take a little longer than expected to arrive. -Our waiter was very attentive and friendly, she made sure to take care of us, as well as go above and beyond and recommend us different items for take out (i.e Desserts). -Close to the end of our meal staff began to use vast amounts of bleach which overwhelmed our table, so much so the aroma of bleach neutralized the aroma and taste of the food, highly affecting the remainder of our meal, and dessert. Truly a punch to the nose in terms of Bleach Intensity. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUILDING: 5/5 -The lobby and surrounding areas were very clean maybe even spotless. -The decor is always on point! they don't go overboard when it comes to TEX-MEX, very festive atmosphere. -The music playing was appropriate and went hand in hand with the interior theme (decor). (Some other Tex-Mex locations have hip hop and such playing which ruins the mood) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CONCLUSION: -This is a great location when it comes to Tex-Mex food, the staff are very friendly and the food is cooked with a lot of love. -It is located in a VERY BUSY area especially on the Weekends, so keep that in mind. -I highly recommend this location for Family Gatherings, After-Church dining, or Dates. Thank you for the meal, i shall return hungry for more.
One of the best Mexican restaurants I love going to in Mesquite. They have half price dishes Monday - Thursday. My boyfriend and I love taco Tuesday and enchiladas Wednesday. They have this white ranch sauce they serve that is AMAZING, be sure to ask for it. 10 out of 10 highly recommend🥰
Came here for a quick bite for lunch... I was always skeptical of coming here, but seen the reviews and decided to try it out! I’m sooo glad that I did!!! Be aware anything that you order will be a large portion I order 3 regular tacos and they were huge, and their prices are really decent. They have happy hour from 11am-7pm $3.99 margaritas which were a nice size. Our waitress was very friendly and insightful on things to order and substitutions. Also a perk that I loved you can get free ice cream on your way out, and they give you complementary chips and salsa. Great place will definitely come back. Never judge a book by its cover. - Wheezy
We went for Mother's day around 7pm and 8pm. Even with it being a little busy, they were able to sit us fast. The waiter was very friendly. We ordered the Nachos and the Del Rio chicken enchiladas. The nachos (half beef and chicken) were enough for two people to share and actually good. I would visit again but not on a holiday.
I had a wonderful experience here! The service was good, and the food was delicious. My enchiladas were absolutely banging, and the quesadilla was full of flavor. I never knew this spot existed, but I'm so glad we discovered it on Father's Day. My husband enjoyed the food and left feeling stuffed. While the margarita could have been a bit stronger, it wasn’t mine—I was just sipping on my husband’s drink. Overall, I had a nice time. Our waitress was super friendly, checked on us regularly, and definitely deserved her tip. Highly recommend!
Had the fajitas and more and fed all 5 of my family of adults with a box to take home! Waited forever for plates and silverware but the food was fantastic . Best tortillas ever, and the shrimp wrapped bacon was a fave too
We went an hour before close on a Friday night. The staff was still friendly, the food portions are large, fresh and good quality. It was my first time at this restaurant and our server answered all of my questions. The brisket tacos were fantastic and they served complimentary chips with salsa and jalapeno ranch.
I hadn’t been here in years. I came to eat dinner with my mom on a week night. Every employee we had an interaction with was quite pleasant. The food was as good as I recall. The spicy ranch dip is delicious. The fajitas were delicious too! I recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area.
Good food, excellent service. I know it's Tex Mex but I would've preferred to hear a more traditional Mexican music while dining
The service: Twice we had a party of 30 plus people celebrating graduations here. Both times we called several days in advance to notify management that we would be coming. Both times we were given 1 waiter. The waiter did his best to take care of us. With a group that large that waiter should have had some help. The food: the food quality is very good and usually consistent.
They have some of the BEST enchiladas!! Food is always amazing but unfortunately this last time, table was a bit dirty which I was unpleased about and I ordered a margarita for me and my friend each and NEVER received them.. Asked the waitress twice and she was the one who even recommended them!! So I hope next time it's a bit tidier and service a bit better but other than that the food was still great!
Staff was great and so was the food. The chili relleno with stuffed with steak and cheese was so good! A crispy taco & i changed the beef enchilada to a chicken. My husband had the quesadillas with beef enchiladas. the margaritas tasted a little watery so we order a shot with the Platinum Margarita.
Very slow restaurant from what I could see and actually hear from the staff. They being on the other side of the wall of my table. I spent my meal listening to them complain, fight, argue and make fun of other employees as they had nothing else to do. Did not make for a nice meal. The nachos had little cheese and was a plate of dry chips topped with a lot of tomatoes. The entrees were good but not stellar. The salsas were good, i did like the spicier one. Our server was ok, but to receive the meals before half the appetizer was eaten seemed a bit rushed to me. She did fill drinks slowly and get a refill of salsa, again was ok but not great. Doubt I will be back, must be a reason a restaurant this large is so empty. Outside signs and lighting also not on at dusk.
Food was good our waitress was not very focused on taking care of her tables. Restaurant was clean as we're the restrooms. I would recommend giving it a try.
Keep in mind this is a fast food chain Tex-Mex restaurant. The service has always been great. They have multiple different dips they serve with the chips. They have a lot of different ready-made frozen margaritas (and it only takes two of the bigger ones). The food is decent. They also have a genie machine that talks randomly and will give you your Fortune tarot card. That may be my favorite part. Lol
Checked out Cafe Del Rio, and overall it was a solid, family-friendly stop. Service was genuinely great, pricing felt very fair, and the location right next to the AMC movie theater is a huge plus perfect timing for dinner before or after a show. Food-wise, it was solid but not mind-blowing. Nothing bad at all, just more “reliable and filling” than “wow, I need to tell everyone.” That said, the kids factor is strong here, the fortune teller machine was a hit, and the little kids’ door at the entrance is a fun touch that instantly won them over. Easy, convenient, and stress-free dining for families.
Attending a birthday party. Waitress was awesome. Chips greasy, salsa good. Had chicken fajita salad and was gross lettuce and had to send chicken back tasted like it had been in fridge for a while. Yuck. Got another, salty and dry. So not impressed with food. To many Mexican places to go this far for blah dishes. Some liked their dishes, others had food left but no one was gonna complain at a party. All in all we enjoyed the evening and the space was adequate for a large group.
Our waitress, Carla, was absolutely wonderful! Attentive, friendly, and really made us feel welcome. The drinks were solid and well-made. The food, however, was just okay nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. We also sat at the bar and the bartender was nice but for the bar not being very busy it took us some time to get drinks. Overall, the service from Carla really stood out and made the experience better.
We was having a going away dinner for one of our college students and one of family members already had dinner plans, but stopped in to wish him well, give him a gift, but the waitress informed her that if they were not staying to eat a meal, they would have to pay to eat some of those chips and salsa that was on the table. That is foul...there was plenty on the table already, so why she have to pay...she already had plans and couldn't stay...that was crazy. I will not be returning and will be letting everyone I know what happened. Also, other people within our group will share this info and experience with their friends and other family members.
I would not recommend this place. The food was bland & not tasty at all. I ordered the flautas, they were long but skinny. Could hardly taste the meat. My friends ordered the carne asada, was chewy & very well done. The server didn't ask how we would like it cooked. Service is pretty fast & friendly. The drinks are moderately priced. But you can find better texmex food around.
Atmosphere is generic Mexican restaurant style. Server was flighty and just didn't seem all there. I ordered the chicken fajita chili relleno with rice and charro beans and the wife had the chicken fajita tacos. She didn't care for the chicken, over cooked. I knew it was gonna be bad when I saw a film of grease starting to congeal on my beans. Cilu relleno was bland and nothing had any heat to it, including the salsa that tasted like tomato sauce...
Something weird is going on there recently. We usually go there to pick up takeout dinner and eat at home. We also go to the bar for a drink as we do the pickup. Today was a strange experience. There were so few ppl there. I've never seen the parking lot so empty as it was today, a Sunday afternoon. Then, the really weird part was the bar area was a disaster with one bartender working, a table piled high with dirty dishes, dirty glasses ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BAR, the bar was dirty all over. We were trying to find a clean part of the bar to sit at but we had to settle for the part that was the least dirty. Still not clean, mind you. There were white, wet towels all over the bar along with the dirty glasses. But no customers were there, so the whole thing was so weird. Then the 1 girl bartending gave us our drinks and then completely disappeared. We ended up leaving cash on the bar for our drinks because no one was there to offer to make another drink or give us the check! 😂 The sides of guacamole are way too small for what they cost. I feel like this place is going out of business soon, like, really soon.
This place was once an incredible restaurant. We used eat here at least once a month. Since I've been traveling more, we haven't been here in a while. The entire atmosphere in this restaurant is so different, it was almost awkward. We were seated by a lovely hostess. Then sat for about 20 minutes, with no waitress asking us for anything. Went to use the bathroom, which was filthy. Came back to the table, still not a single bit of service. No drinks, no chips, nothing. It wasn't busy either, as I'm aware that can be a reason. But 30 minutes after being seated & not even a single greeting, is unacceptable. Then helping other patrons who came in after us. Ended up walking out and the workers just said whatever. I hate to think it had something to do with our ethnicity, but it may have been just that, seeing since everyone else was helped. Whoever owns this business, you may want to know that it's getting ran into the ground. Sad, because this place was once jammin with a great time & great food.
This used to be my favorite place to eat Mexican but the last two visits for me and my wife have been horrible. The waitress would disappear for long periods of time and the food would be brought to the table cold. We will not be returning.
If I could rate this place 0 stars I would, service and atmosphere in general was horrible. Wasn’t even greeted at the host stand. Our server Claudia began to make faces at one of our friends when he began to ask questions about some menu items in spanish and she would reply in english with just “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure” with a horrible attitude, treating him as if he’s not a well educated person for not knowing english. Will definitely not bring my family back here.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Café Del Rio was so disappointing that I feel compelled to share. From the moment I walked in, the restaurant was chaotic. In hindsight, I should have taken that as a sign to leave. After a long wait, I was taken to a dirty booth. Not only was the seat greasy but there was a plate with dried cheese still stuck to it at my table. I sat down nevertheless, and then understood why everything looked so greasy. The chips and salsa that came later on were greasy. My margarita was also a disappointment as it tasted like dishwater. No tequila in a Mexican restaurant?? But wait, there’s more. My table was confused with another table three separate times—food was brought that was not my own before I even placed my own order! Needless to say my waitress was slow to take my table’s order. When the food finally arrived, my order was wrong (how do you confuse fish with brisket??). By that point, I had already spent over an hour at the greasy restaurant and had to leave for a movie—so I did and without ever getting a chance to eat since the corrected order never arrived. I received no apology, nor an offer to compensate me for my frustration, such as discounted dishwater (I mean margaritas). I caution others against dining here if they value good service and basic cleanliness.
I ordered the spinach enchiladas and couldn't finish it. The tortillas tasted like they'd been cooked days ago and were stale. The grilled veggies had a weird bitter taste to them. My potatoes were probably the only good part about this meal, but it's hard to mess up potatoes. I probably won't come back.
I stopped by Del Rio on my way to Dallas tonight, worst food I've ever had. So bad that I feel like I need to vomit. The queso was extremely to thick with a sour taste to it. I ordered chicken fajitas. Some of the chicken was undercooked. Couldn't even eat it. The rice was great! My server never checked on us so I couldn't even inform her. It took forever to flag her down just for our bill. When I finally did receive the bill it was nearly 100$. Food was extremely over priced for such poor quality and taste. Not to mention spending 100$ on something we couldn't even enjoy or liked. Plates full of food left on the table just to go to waste. We won't be back. Hopefully my stomach settles and it's not food poisoning or salmonella from the raw chicken that was served to me. I'm not one to leave a bad review.. in fact I've never left a review at all because who has time for that anyways but after my experience tonight I feel others should know.
We celebrated my mother's birthday here last Sunday. It was obvious that the waitress was upset we chose to eat here or maybe it was something personal she was going through but service was terrible Once the food came out, that's where the real drama unfolded. Most of our food orders were wrong and my daughter and I didn't EVEN GET THE FOOD WE ORDERED. The restroom was filthy and smelly, ceiling was leaking. It was just horrible.
For two of us we spent over $60 The queso was like something from a can. Waitress was awesome but no matter how good she was the food and worst was how dirty the place was. Eating my meal and happen to glance at the fake window, covered in what looked like boogers and food slunge on walls and blinds. I lost my appetite. Lets not forget your feet stick to the floor.. Cant imagine what the kitchen looks like. No idea how this place doesn't have a 2 star rating.
This place use to be my go to for any occasion! Since moving to the area my family and I have come here on various occasions. BUT we went yesterday and OMG the food was bland and flavorless, they screwed up half our order, and they’ve changed the rice!! They use to have the authentic spanish rice and yesterday, bleh, white rice covered in oil with small chunks of tomato and jalapeno… It was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I would also like to add that the time before last when my kids took me for Mother’s Day, the waitress we got (green/blue short cut lady) was absolutely rude, she rolled her eyes every time we asked for something, and we overheard her talking about us in Spanish to a coworker (I am white and my kids are Hispanic/White and I speak fluent Spanish) I didn’t even want to go back there yesterday, but I did. And I wish I hadn’t. The owner and her son are absolutely lovely!! They have always had the biggest smile and always sooo kind whenever they served us, as well as every other staff member I spoke to, but not that lady. I just really miss the way the food use to be. I don’t know what’s changed.
I ordered a burrito with fajitas and when it arrived it was the size of the whole plate and the tortita was soggy because of the cheese added on top then their was small portions of the food their was only one salsa horrendous I do not recommend coming here or ordering the burrito I had a bad experience.
Did a graduation dinner the WORST Horrible experience. There's a reason this place isn't busy. I called ahead of time told them booked about the party and how many people. When we arrived they had no clue. Then the waitress was very rude didn't seem like she wanted us there. My son had to go get a highchair and sling. She was rushing everyone. She didn't bring us stuff we asked for. Then worse the food came out wrong all at different times some cold. The waitress stood over us to see if we were adding extra tip to the it's gratuity added to our check. I couldnt believe I planned this ahead of time and still got this service
If I can give zero stars, is that right there would’ve been what I’ve done this place is disgusting. I was greeted by a big cockroach at the door and I was thinking hey it’s not a big deal. The cockroaches outside right now to my surprise as we got inside, they set us automatically next to the bar, which is freaking horrible we have two kids. Could you not have set us in a better area and to top things off we had a waiter for the first half and for the second half of the dinner nobody we literally have no refills on our drinks and had a bed to pay our bill because no one would come to our table to give us the Bill. Our waiter was at the bar, but I guess he was busy then we had a call someone to give us our bill. Another thing take the can of raid off of the counter so disgusting come on people.
Worst experience ive ever had eating out with my whole family, will not be returning. Please dont waste your time or money.
they prefer to throw away “the food in error than “except their mistakes and me “Buy the food at least for “half the price day 10/14 @ the Bar - Bartender: Cyndi so I’m not sure if it’s bc I’m a male” where she was overly cordial with her “female regular by over Pouring her alcohol. But what a disappointment - maybe that’s probably why there’s no “Traffic here and the environment is dead. Yet sooooo much potential
We used to love going here. We always sat at the bar. Now they have this lady that does not even pay attention to you and we have gave her many chances!!! This time was the last!!! Not sure if we will ever be back!
The food was nasty, and I even found hair in my meal. The servers themselves were good and polite, but the cheesecake tasted old, and there were black specks floating in my drink. On top of that, whoever the bald man is was very rude and was yelling at another employee right in front of everyone. Definitely not a good experience.Kayla at the bar made me a great drink though.
Been coming here for a long time. It has consistently gone down hill. Ordered fajitas for 2 over the phone for pick up. Most of the staff is not just unattentive, they clearly don't care. It really seems that ten percent of the staff do ninety percent of the work. I got to watch one young man hang out the front door spitting while I waited. Awesome. The food was tasty however after noticing how skimp it was I priced the steps of fajita meat together. I had a piece of chicken and a piece of beef that were together the size of a note card. The charro beans had the tablespoons of beans for both of us hiding under way to much broth. All and all, to say it was unimpressive is generous. This is the last time I will spend any money here. If ownership/management doesn't fix their service issue soon I don't think it will be here much longer anyway.
