Gomez Mammoth Lakes Reviews
The first word that comes to mind is "Festive"....The bar area hosts the largest, most incredible selection of tequila that I have ever seen. Many bottles are showcased under lock and key so you'll definitely want to taste some of those! So prepare to have an experience when you are at this restaurant.. Be patient as they are super busy during the various seasons that we enjoy her in Mammoth. They have indoor seating, a private lounge, to go orders, and the bar/indoor dinning area will make ya wanna spend a few hours enjoying all that Gomez's has to offer. "Chillax" is the word that comes to mind. After a day of outdoor adventures her in Mammoth.... this is a place to connect and enjoy being with family and friends. If you're flying solo, just sit in the bar area, order up, and make some new friends. The google ratings are skewed here in my opinion. I mean these chefs take great pride in putting out an array of inspired Latin foods (I ate here 3 days in a row) The taco selecti are legendary, they also feature fresh ocean caught fish and hormofree meats. There are choices on the menu to please ones pallette! I also learned that most foods are prepared from scratch for your dining pleasure hence the chillax comment earlier. PS....Don't forget to take home a bottle or two of there homemade salsa. PSS...The flourless chocolate cake OMG amazing with their house Pinot Noir.
I came here with my family for a nice dinner. We really loved the drinks they offered. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. They had a huge selection for the menu. Pricing was reasonable. I had the steak fajitas and it was so so good. I really like this place. Good spot to try if your staying nearby.
Fabulous place. My husband and I went in solely because we saw a photo of the wall of tequila. Which is amazing by the way. It should be easy to spot a tequila you’ve never had. Try it. That being said, it was the service at the bar and the delicious food that won us over. The Wahoo Fish is phenomenal. Yum-freakin-yummmm.
(elevatio I’m) but I met several outsourced dancers who were friendly and told me their names, like TJ for example. After that I walked to the very busy bar, all the barrack ladies had their heads down and not one greeted customers with words like ‘hello, we’ll be right with you’ or something like that. Perhaps they’re enslaved because their is NO excuse for silence in the bartender world. After 20 minutes without service or acknowledgement I went back to my hotel. I forgot my phone and went back to complain to a manager. The mesera said I was a liar without knowing what my complaint was. I gave her the Latino finger shake: meaning I really dont want what you are selling. While I was waiting , I asked her for mil-ochocientos-cuarente dos 1842. I wanted 3 shots and a Modelo beer. It’s $40 per shot, so I would have tipped 30 percent on that because I’ve worked in hospitalit myMy tab would have been $130 plus 30% bout they never bothered to say hello or sorry for the delay. They just want their tips without speaking or greeting. I got one shot of 1842 when I picked up my phone. I tried to speak with the unnamed female manager in a quiet location but she complained about me to the guy with green hai from elevation who was checking wristbands. They kicked me out before I had had one drink. When my one shot of 1842 finally arrived without salt or a line I downed it and left. I’ve spent $6000 dollar s this S
Fantastic Mexican fusion restaurant and tequileria. The mole negra enchiladas were delicious, as well as all the tacos. The mixology menu and signature drinks were also above par. There's a variety of tequila; in fact a whole wall of 7 full shelves of it! I'd highly recommend the El Gomez combo and any signature cocktail with Mezcal!
The margs were fire!! Service was amazing! The waitress was so sweet! , burgers were yum! And salsa 10/10
Food was good! The chips and salsa were really good, enchiladas and birria was good. I dont understand the bad reviews... they had tasty food, good service, good micheladas. The green sauce on the enchiladas was really good. Everything had flavor. A little more $ than I thought it would be but everything in mammoth is expensive lol
Been here a few times and always happy with the food. Service wasn’t as good this time but usually fantastic. They were also busy and we had a larger party so I’m chalking it up to that. Otherwise great drinks and good food. Lots of seating at the bar and lots of seating inside and out. Love the location as well. Would return and highly recommend.
I liked the food overall. Loved their fajitas... Their portions are HUGE.... So the price when compared to the portions is decent. My boy liked the chicken burrito for kids. There is a sand play area for kids with toys in it. Pretty neatly maintained with hardworking and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend going here.
I came here off-season, so it wasn’t too crowded. The food was delicious — authentic Mexican. They also have one of the largest tequila collections in the world. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff are friendly and polite. The restrooms are clean — which says a lot about the place.
Great food. No more gomez hotsauce as of 3 months ago... now they use chilula. Still good
Okay so food is tasty, great flavors but not spicy. Unless you order the habanero wings! OMG wings are delicious and habanero wings have a nice kick!!! My wife had the the shrimp taco was bomb and the a beef enchilada rice and beans was good as well. Of course we ordered 2 mammoth grande Cadillac margaritas 22oz!!! And they were delicious!!! A++++ a little pricey but given it Mammoth Mountain and your are probably visiting it makes sense, you're on a vacation trip spending a little more than usual isn't a surprise but you won't be disappointed. The fresh guac and salsa and chips were good no hot kick but flavors were great. Being of Hispanic background I endorse their food and please try their tequila!!!!! If you get Luis as a waiter then even better he was awesome and chill. UPDATE 2025 JANUARY My wife and I came back and got another huge Cadillac margarita, so delicious, the margarita is legit good and we got the mole enchiladas and the sweet corn ribs. They were delicious. Is it over priced I don't think so given the nice location and the food is good, so we think it's worth it. Give it a try you won't be disappointed by the food or drinks. Love coming here when we going skiing.
Great restaurant in the Village. Doesn’t have that much of a Mexican vibe looks wise, but the food is great here. Staff was kind as well. Enjoyed my quesadillas and huge chocolate cake here. Nice place for a bite.
Couldn't resist after getting off the gondola from Canyon Lodge. Red line was packed and we needed a breather. Margaritas were great. Never been to a place that bragged 1,000 bottle of tequila. El grande nachos made two meals for the two of us. Red line brought us home to Mammoth Mt RV Park.

Good service in a great environment. I had the seared Tuna salad and it was fresh and tasty. Also enjoyed a Primo Paloma

It is always busy here during holiday season but all the staff was cheerful, helpful and very efficient. Was very impressed with the service. Food was good. The salmon and pastor tacos were both favorites.
Excellent food. Excellent drinks. Homemade churros are great too for dessert. Lively atmosphere. Chips and guacamole and veggie nachos are so good!
Had a delicious dinner and drinks! Chili Relleno with Shrimp was full of perfectly melted cheese encased in a chili and fried to perfection. The shrimp on top were grilled and seasoned just right and the tomato based sauce was a fantastic bed for this yummy chili to be nestled into. The Cadillac Escalade Margarita was just the right balance and really hit the spot. I highly recommend having dinner here. The bar is gorgeous and you can see some sports while you are enjoying your meal.
I don’t understand the 3.8 rating. This place was delicious!! Some of the most tender steak I’ve ever eaten. Service was good & super fast. I got it to go because I arrived late and just wanted to relax in the hotel. Highly recommend. I ordered the asada plate, cheese quesadilla, & azteca soup. All 5 stars.

Great service, good menu. May be a little overpriced for what you get, but thats expected anywhere in a vacation town, especially the village. Atmosphere is great, I only gave it 4 stars because it wasnt very busy. But its the off season.
1st time there. Carne asada tacos. Yummy. Traditional burrito was ok and the fish taco ok. Chips and guacamole.. I can't stop eating them. Will need to keep going eventually considering it's in mammoth. Also social distancing and mask to order food required and felt safe. Out door/ open air eating a plus.
The food was really good! And the Mammoth Margaritas are a heck of a deal. Unfortunately we sat in a really windy area and none of the heaters were working so it was a little cold. But the menu and the service were both great! Definitely come here any time I visit Mammoth.
Super delicious food and great ambiance. The wait was a little too long, but it was worth it. Our server who was also one of the managers, had a little attitude and wasn't as nice.

They have items marked as vegan and vegetarian. The guac and chips, plantain, and maxi-stack is vegetarian and can be vegan. I hope they can tofu / seitan / tempeh as vegan options for protein. Thank you! Vegan / veg / vegetarian review ☘️💚✅

I went to Gomez's for some appetizers before going to dinner on the other side of the street. I had the pleasure to meet Russ, the owner and we got a very good conversation. I ordered some cheese quesadillas and they arrived pretty quickly and they were very well executed and I even got some nice sides. Very happy with the overall experience ! I looked at the menu and it has a lot of variety for the food as well as the drinks. I will definitely come back :-)
Mediocre food and food portions. Mixed drinks felt just like drinking alcohol straight. Good vibes and ambiance of the place.
This restaurant has delicious drinks. They have a HUGE variety of tequila. The food was decent. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp and rice were bland in terms of flavor but overall it was okay. The service was great.
After walking around the village perusing all the menus we decided on Gomez. We got chicken fajitas, with rice, and flour tortillas, and added on chips and salsa. The fajitas with peppers and onions had good flavor, which is a bonus, fajitas are often one of those foods that are bland. But not so here. The rice was very nicely cooked and had a good flavor too. The salsa wasn’t very spicy but did have a good flavor, the chips were very nice. A lot of the negative reviews mention that it’s odd to go to a Mexican restaurant that charges for chips and salsa, and this is true, most do just provide them free, but the charge is only $1, and only 50 cents for a refill of each. So this seems more like a waste-prevention measure than a “get rich” scheme. And unlike another place in town that charges $1 for just a small portion of salsa alone, this is a generous helping of chips and salsa for this price. Since the chips are nice and tasty, it’s worth it. We ended up keeping our chips and enjoying them a few days later in our room. If you’re in the village and looking for Mexican food without driving, this is definitely not a bad stop. It’s not: “world changing, open your eyes to new possibilities, stand on the corner and shout how good it is” food, but it’s definitely good food. This is where I wish google had a 1-10 scale instead of 1-5. It’s closer to a 7 overall.
The atmosphere in here was calm and bit dark for my liking. The help was nice but the wait was long. The duck tacos were scrumptious and worth the wait! The rest wasn’t worth how long it took or how much we spent. The enchilada was small and deflated. The Chile relleno was good, not the best, but good with chicken on it. You have to pay for the chips and salsa, hmm. The chips felt stale but the salsa was sure yummy. Kinda dark inside couldn’t tell how clean it really was I’d go back only for the duck tacos.
Decent Mexican food not the best but not the worst either. They are chincy and charge for chips and salsa 😂 they served me steak and chicken fajitas for $45 and didn’t provide salsa 🤪 The waiter (a middle aged guy) was not friendly or attentive. I doubt we will be back..

Pretty much what you would expect from a restaurant in the village. Average food w/ inflated prices. Margarita was good, recommend. Guacamole, stay away. Zero flavor. Chips and salsa is your call, but I hate places that charge for their watered down salsa and nothing special chips. Enchiladas were good, but nothing to write home about. If you are in the mood for Mexican I would recommend this place but be prepared to pay a pretty penny for middle of the road Mexican food. P.s. you get white rice with your meal???

Honestly, this place kinda sucks. There’s always a ridiculous wait (when there are SO many tables available), the staff seem like they’re annoyed that you walked in, and the food is mediocre. If you want to spend money at a place that is ambivalent about customers, this is the restaurant for you. Also, I’m at table 7 so Gomez if you want to bring me a free appetizer I’m ready.
Friendly staff, but very inattentive waiter and they were not busy at all. Not once did I get my water refilled. Food was bland. Steak/chicken fajita tasted like it was microwaved. Zero seasoning on anything. Chips and salsa were delicious though. Very nice atmosphere. However the flame heaters all around should be turned off in 70+degree weather. Got pretty warm quick. Overpriced for the quality of food. It was 6 of us and we all agreed.

Called to make a reservation and was told they don’t take them and to just walk in. We walked in and were told they weren’t accepting more people after we explained the situation and told the we called. They still said they weren’t accepting people while there were many open tables. Horrible way to spend the holidays and awful servers. What a Great birthday for my dad!
Host was great, server was great, atmosphere was great. But why in the world does a restaurant right in the best location of the village sell Mexican food that tastes nothing like Mexican food. My wife, who was raised with no seasoning on her food and compared her family recipes to cardboard, said this food did not taste like any Mexican food she had ever eaten before. She got the chicken burrito and the chicken tasted like spaghetti noodles. Hire someone to build a new menu with new food items or sell the restaurant to someone that gives a damn for the hard working staff to serve a fine tasting meal for the money we paid.
Used to be a really good place in Mammoth. It is nothing but a tourist trap now food was pretty nasty service was slow and with big attitude.
Had a nice atmosphere, but the bartender had an attitude, food came out cold. Not a great experience. My husband and myself never complain and give grace and respect to everyone, but this was a very bad experience.
Where to start with this place, between the one hour wait just to be seated that led into 3 hours of waiting for food and drinks which were sub par. We started with drinks that took too long, were way over priced, and came out wrong. I almost ran out of my pay to park time while sitting through the poorest service I have experienced in a long time. Waiter didn’t write down one thing while taking my parties order… came back with a notepad & pen to double check the orders and still didn’t write anything down. While waiting patiently even for drinks a few groups after us were sat, got served, ate, and proceeded to pay to leave. Would not recommend
Probably the worst chili relleno I have had in years. The sauce was basically Rago spaghetti sauce. I asked the waitress what kind of sauce it was and she said, "homemade ". But didn't engage after that, she was hustling for sure being a Saturday night. I'm sure they rely on tourist to just eat what they are given, but this was awful. We come every spring and will not return. Go to one of the other smaller Mexican restaurants in town. Having eaten here pre-covid and the relleno was more authentic and much better it was very disappointing. Don't waste your money.
Tried to get dinner here with my family. The host and whoever was the management have the worst sense of hospitality. Friends arrived a little earlier but not ordered yet. They didn’t want to sit us at their table. We suggested moving to a big table which would easily handle our kids and adults and they were so concerned about where the dishes would fit they didn’t want to make it work. It’s unbelievable. It’s a friggin restaurant. Just make it work. We walked out and got happily seated at a restaurant next door amongst people with manners.
