Iron Horse Tavern Sacramento Reviews
Just after arriving in Sacramento my wife and I were parched and stepped in for a drink and appetizer. Wa had the ahi nachos, outstanding! I saw meals others had ordered and I was sorry that I wasn't that hungry. Good food and great service.
Food was amazing 👏 loved the atmosphere and vibe. Went with a large group of around 14 people and everyone was satisfied. My only complaint was the waitress refused to breakout the alcohol into individual checks per person. Both the restaurant and her could have made more if she would have done so.
What’s not to love about Iron Horse? Great food, great atmosphere, great location, and super friendly staff. I personally love the brandy fried chicken. So crunchy on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. I’m a regular customer and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. Pro tip: make sure to sign up for their MAC Rewards program!
Let's meet up at the Iron Horse Tavern, he says..Tattoo Bob finally talked me out of that old 41 FL Knucklehead motor that I paid 10 bucks for down in Vallejo that some old shipyard dude converted into an air compressor, and the rest of the bike his widow gave to me for free because of the many times I've helped her out over the years.. The tatman said we can meet half way in Sactown at the Iron Horse Tavern, how appropriate. I had ordered a big steak at the Iron Horse and asked the server make sure it's rare...extra rare is okay too. Man-O-Man was it Perfect! 5 stars all day ☆☆☆☆☆
Absolutely loved the experience, me and my friend came for breakfast and ended getting lunch because we were too late:/ but iron horse tavern flipped our frowns upside down LET ME TELL YOU. We got the tavern burger +egg, avocado, & cheese fat 10/10 the side of fries were rlly good as well. We also got the shrimp salad and I wasn’t a fan of it at all. I don’t like grilled shrimp because it’s too Sony for me and the salad was pretty sweet with the mango & mandarin but overall we’d give it a 6/10 not my favorite. The service was very very good and understanding and the atmosphere was relaxing and nice
Food was awesome. The cheesy garlic bread shown in an image below was incredible. Cooked perfect...not burnt not doughy. The cheese sauce was the stand out though. It was perfect. Creamy and tasty. I also ordered the steak sandwich and it rocked as well. Server was very nice but super busy. She was the only waitress on the floor with like 12 other tables. She did very well. Definitely will have to come back next time I'm in Sacramento.
Had a great brunch with the ladies will be back next time. Drinks were delicious food was very good .
The food was great. Try the margherita pizza and blackberry limeade. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The room was a bit loud, but you could generally hear to talk. A bit of sound absorbing textures would help. Recommend the Happy Hour specials if you can get there early.
I’ve been here a few times in the past and have always liked the food. This time was no exception, I had the grilled salmon and it was delicious delicious! It had a nice crust and cooked perfectly. Light glaze that flavored the rice and baby carrots. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice, the music was not as loud as I remembered it used to be and I was able to have a conversation.
I loved the crepe madame while the wife rocked her Benedict. Both were great, and the crack, er coffee was good. (Would you believe I'm Irish, cause I am). Yes, the crack was good! The second shot was the crepe, sorry about the ketchup, but my wife puts it on her eggs!!?!! If you don't know, the crepe madame is a sandwich with French toast , ham and a fried egg either in or on the top slice, and a heavy hint of syrup. The potatoes were some of the most flavorful I've had in a long time. Not sure why, but I suspect it was the oil they used. But the crack was good!
Came here on a Saturday afternoon at 4 pm or so and was seated for a group of 8 immediately - the place is really nice for a happy hour type of ambiance. Good: The place has so many options - asian fusion, American, Mexican - it really has a ton of options. I got the trio of mac and got the lobster, basil pesto, and bacon and egg options - my favorite was the basil pesto - the noodles here are super chewy too. I also really liked the clam chowder here and the poke nacho here - super large portion sizes as well here. Bad: I thought the Korean fried chicken was just average here. It's also a bit dim and the service does sometimes come a bit slower. Overall, tons of variety and would come again! Super fun for big groups.
The shrimp appetizers were fantastic and the pretzel was really good...but whatever cheese sauce that they give you with it was disgusting.
This place is so good! We had the stuffed French toast and the Huevos con Chile rellenos and both were amazing. The french toast was just the right level of sweetness and the filling was so rich. The chile had a good amount of heat and the tortilla was perfectly crispy under it! I also had the white peach bellini which was perfect. The side of bacon was a pretty good serving and the bacon was thick cut. Super great breakfast all around!
We were heading to see the Capitol and take a boat cruise. Thankfully the boat cruise was booked so we turned our attention to food and drink. We ended up at the Iron Horse Tavern and had the best time watching the tourists, locals and pub crawlers cruise by. We ate on the patio and the weather was just perfect. With music playing and people laughing and interacting with pedestrians, it was such a chill couple of hours. The food was excellent and came out quickly. The service was excellent and out server was as friendly as she was professional. Our orders cave out exactly as ordered and exceeded expectations. So many times when you go someplace with decor as cool as the decor at Iron Horse Tavern, it's a crutch that can sometimes forgive sub par food or service. I can really tell you that this is not the case here. The food was perfect, the service was excellent and the drinks tasted great AND served their purpose 😉. We will meet friends here again for sure. We're stumbled on this place and are really glad we did. Keep up the great job Iron Horse Tavern!
Came by Iron Horse Tavern for a dinner! The two of ordered: -ahi tuna poke nachos $17.25, super good! Wish the tuna chunks were a bit thicker. -loco moco $21.25, massive loco moco dish. Super heavy. Eater beware! -side caesar $5.75, a bit too much dressing, so I'll go light next time. Fresh greens though. -track 7 panic IPA large $9 -crooked lane 1-2 punch hazy IPA large $9, super good hazy! -tavern burger $14.95, $2 add on each for avocado and cheese, a solid burger! Unfortunately, we forgot the to-go box for the rest of the burger :/ We ordered A LOT of food haha. Overall, value wise, I think it is a great spot for good eats! Shoutout to Katrina for being a great server and checking in on us constantly. Street parking only.
Found a dog friendly spot on a hot day. They had outdoor seating but informed us dogs were allowed inside. I don't know how that's possible seeing as its indoors, but no complaints here as long as we keep our dog from embarrassing ourselves or bothering anyone. The host, bartender, and server were all very friendly. The drink menu is fire, and the food menu outstanding.
Had a great tine here. I have been several times now since the closure of inside dining. Both times outside table was shaded and cool. Waitress was great and food was fabulous. I love the menu it has great selection and variety. Parking is sufficient but its downtown so at night it can be a little busy and you may have to park several blocks away. Dont be fooled by the parking in front it is for delivery drivers doing pickup.
Looking for yummy food and a cool bar we ended up at Iron Horse. The local draught beer selection was on point with great tasting taps. I had the Tuna Poke nachos and honestly, they were so yummy and fresh and a huge unexpected portion. My partner, she had one of the burgers and it was equally as good. Nice bartenders and a fun atmosphere, were responsible for bringing us back here all 3 nights we were working in Sac. We had the pretzel, caesar salad, wings and fish special and everything was really good. I wish you guys would open in Austin where we live - thanks!
Aye my pizza was pretty good, I know it's a weird choice for a food at a grill but if they have pizza I must try it. Luckily I was there with some friends and their food was good from what they said I can give a comprehensive review. The grill looked pretty nice and was filled with people eating inside of the establishment and outside, one thing I really liked is that they had mock tails. Fake cocktail, it's basically cocktails without the alcohol, which is very interesting haven't seen that in a restaurant yet til now. Your going to be spending quite a bit when you go. Also if I remember correctly you can only split your check into 3 separate checks. So be sure you know how your going to settle the check since it's going to be expensive.
The food and service here are always top notch. Tonight I saw that they had loco moko on the menu, and I had to have it. The 2 half pound patties were cooked perfectly, and the sunny side up eggs on top looked like they came right out of a menu picture. They were beautiful! I had never had it with the fried rice, and the pork in it was a nice touch, but I still prefer the way steamed rice soaks that buttery velvety brown gravy up. Fantastic dish all the way around!
Happy hour time Half price of pizza and appetizers I ordered garlic shrimp pizza and asian style tacos. Pizza was good. Crispy edge bread and garlic sauce with shrimp went well. Asian style taco also good. I also tried local brew beers small one is from Carmichael and big one is Sierra Nevada. Carmichael has a little sour taste with fruity flavor. Sierra Nevada is molt beer taste. Generally good place to hang out with friends and family although I saw a couple of homeless walked in the patio seats place.
Madison was so amazing. This is the best service I’ve ever had here. She was incredibly attentive and fun. The burger was delicious with greens that cooled me off. The beer selection is great. We had such a nice time. I will definitely be coming back and I hope I get Madison as my server again. Love her!
Had a nice meal with my wife. Our server was very nice, the food wad good, and in general it was a nice place to visit. While I may not agree with the things they put on a specific sandwich, picking what I didn't expect/want off was easy and there were no ill effects upon the sandwich. Plenty of seating both inside and out, a very nice drinks menu, and a very well maintained atmosphere inside. Yeah, I'd come back.
Food was really good and reasonably priced! Our waitress was super kind and helpful with menu questions. Bathroom was very dark - that’s my only negative.
Good experience awesome vibe waiters where atentative and fun, and gave some good suggestions. Drinks were good and on point and the nachos were huge. They had good pizza. The only thing that was funny I asked for arugula and they tried to put spring mix on the pizza instead but not a biggie.
Held a 14 person dinner at Iron Horse Tavern. Food was delicious and service was even better. Our server was great and accommodating to kids in our group, which is always a plus!
Great restaurant with delicious food. The drinks and food were on point. The portions we good but not excessive. That is except for the beignets. We did not expect such a huge basket of them. But it was perfect for sharing. The staff was friendly and helpful. For parking. There is street parking and a pay lot just behind the building that is worth the $5 to park depending on how busy it is with the other bars and restaurants in the area.
Love love love this place! Parking is a little iffy. Definitely pay to park. The wait is a little bit or you can grab a seat at the bar for quicker eating. Cameron is the hardest working bar tendress I've ever seen. She makes some delicious looking stuff. The food we had was super flavorful. The regs there told us 2 items to try. So we did. They were wonderful. Got the Locomoto and Korean Fried Chicken. Super clean bathrooms and an actuall REAL handicapped room. Usually don't leave bathroom pics, but it was very handicapped friendly and even had a changing table for babies.
Absolutely amazing. Came here with a friend on Valentine's Day as I was driving her home and she was in the mood for a burger. Had this place saved for a while and didn't realize it was across from Ace of Spades which was a pleasant surprise. Found street parking right across the street and there was no wait. Hostess was nice, waitress was nice, food was delicious, definitely coming back. I wanted a beignet but my friend is deathly allergic to berries so definitely will have to go back without her. I had the meatball sub and it absolutely hit the spot. The place is going in my favorites list for sure. Amount of food is worth the price and the fries were amazing.
This is a nice bar to have cocktails or just a beer. Great menu with many selections. We happen to have soup and salad. I had the clam chowder and he had the broccoli cheddar soup, both good. I had a side salad with chicken for protein and he had the Santa Fe chicken sandwich, be warned May have a kick. A full salad is huge so it’s a full meal unto itself. Will definitely be back. We had a IPA beer and I had the espresso martini.
1st time here and it was very very good. Not to expensive, food is good delicious and flavorful, drinks are good, and service was on point. Got seated right away on a Friday about 5pm. Waitress came took drinks those came out quick like the food no more than 15 min wait for food. Overall pleased and enjoyed good food and good weather.
It is so hard to just pick one dish! There is a litte something for everyone! They have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and some non alcoholic opinions! They have lots of tasty appetizers and main dishes and desserts. Did I mention they have beignets! Yum yum I loved the fried pickles with the sauce. Highly highly recommend a reservation, it gets hella busy. I'd definitely go back again.
Definitely one of the best brunch spots in Sacramento! The French toast omg 🫶🏽 *Update* came for happy hour tonight with some friends and had such a good time! Happy hour is half off all appetizers and pizzas, cocktails were still 10$ but worth it, very delicious and also pretty ✨️ All of the food was delicious, service was great and banana cream pie was a great ending!
When checking in, the hostess typed my name in wrong and mistyped my phone number, which resulted in a longer wait than necessary. However, the food is quite good. I had the poke nachos and my wife had the meetball sandwich. Both were excellent. I do wish there were less chips with the poke nachos, but this is hardly a complaint. If you are passing through downtown Sacramento, I do recommend you check out the Iron Horse.
Just finished having brunch with my parents. This was our first time here and I will be returning! Food was excellent, service was as well. I got the chicken and pancakes, my parents got the shrimp pizza. Both were delicious! I will definitely have to have my parents come with me! Beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered bottomless mimosas and they were kinda weak, we have several and didn’t feel anything but our waitress kept refilling them so I can’t complain.
Absolutely loved this place. The vibe was good, the food and drinks were yummy, good happy hour and friendly staff. Everything we tried was great, shrimp appetizer, Asian Taco appetizer, and prime rib sandwich with fries. For drinks we had the mustang salley and walk the line. Both delicious. So many items we still want to try. We spent some time conversing with the bar manager, a great guy. Honestly, all the staff had smiles and were very welcoming. We really enjoyed our visit and will absolutely be back for more.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday, and it was such a great decision. The staff was lively and even brought out a dessert with a candle. We shared plates of sliders, roasted Brussels sprouts, and craft cocktails, all bursting with flavor. The vibrant atmosphere, with upbeat music and stylish design, kept the energy high all night.
Nice comfortable place giving off english tavern vibes. I enjoyed the atmosphere because it was unique in this way. Had the waffles, crispy on the outside and soft in center, with fruit and whipped cream, delicious! Staff was attentive.
Awesome! They have a dish that I am really in love with which is pan seared athletic salmon. Also it has good vibes specially for the ones who like house music is a great choice. Customer service is good as well. Overall is a great choice to make memories and having a good meal! Thanks!
Initially made a reservation for the patio on Mother’s Day. However, only seats available at the time we arrived were in the sun and a few people in our party cannot be in the direct sun due to medication. Thankfully, there was some space available inside to accommodate our large party. A few of us got the bottomless mimosas which were very tasty. A bit more of OJ than we would have normally done for ourselves, but it was probably to our benefit as to not drink too much. Everyone pretty much got different dishes and all loved their meal. All bursting with flavor and also reasonably priced. I specifically ordered from the “small plates” section instead of ordering a meal in the hopes of receiving a small appetizer. That was not the case! I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos and it’s definitely meant to be a shareable dish. We finished off with the crème brûlée that was delicious. Overall, the atmosphere was good, service was great, food was fantastic. I’ll definitely be back again!
Amazing food and the portions are huge!! Happy hour is crazy good because appetizers are half off and they are massive!! Could eat an appetizer as a meal. I had their PBnJ Burger because I was always intrigued by that concoction and I can’t say it was the best, just different. The tuna poke nachos, sweet and spicy shrimp and tavern pizzas are incredibly good!! Highly recommend this spot especially during happy hours the vibes are great and the service was too!
Simple work outing with my colleagues, but absolutely nothing simple about the flavors delivered in every dish. I’m quite hesitant to eat out because I need to taste the love in my food and I can confidently say they love what they’re cooking up. Enjoying all the flavors of the smaller items I failed to capture a picture of any of our main dishes and I especially recommend the Croque Madame.
Lovely Place, Coolest Vibe, Amazing Atmosphere, Wonderful Staff And Undeniably AWESOME FOOD !! All Important Things To Make Such A Lasting Impact On Us. We Look Forward To Returning Soon. My Daughter And I Had Such A Great Experience For Our First Time. Our Waitress NADIA Was Like Reading My Mind, Bringing Me Everything I Needed And Wanted Without Me Even Having To Ask Her - Now That’s What I Call Service! I Had The Steak Dinner Which Was So Delicious. My Steak Was Cooked Perfect, The Potatoes Were Soft, But Firm And My Veggies Were Such A Delight. All Covered In This Sweet Sauce! My Daughter Had The Salmon Dinner, Which She Really Enjoyed. She Practically Swallowed It Whole, It Didn’t Stand A Chance. Two Of My Favorite Things About Being Here, Is The Lighting, Which Sets This Laid Back Chill Vibe, Or Sets A Romantic Mood For DATE NIGHT! Second Is The Beignets, Which Was One Of The Best Desserts I’ve Had In Years! Just Absolutely BLISSFUL. *NADIA Is An Absolute Superstar!!*
First time here, and it was great. A little crowded for 5 pm, but there was a concert at the venue across the street. We were able to get a table right away, which was nice. The food was good, as well as the service for being so busy. The clam chowder was tasty. My steak was a little overcooked for medium rare, but the taste was great. It definitely has a kick, so choose wisely. The fish and chips were very good, and the portion size for both were plentiful. I would highly recommend this place.
Omg omg omgggg I've been seeing this place all over my fyp and decided to try it out. And I am so glad I did. Their breakfast is so good. And the servers were so nice and understanding. Thank uuu!!

Food is good, the service was great and the Happy Hour is a fantastic deal. It's our "go to" place to bring friends and for special occasions. S
Visited on a Monday for lunch about 1 pm. Nice bar area. There was a wait for indoor seating and immediate seating for the outdoor area. We chose to sit outdoors. It was a 100 degree day, would've been nice if they had misters or turn on the two giant fans. Ordered a Ceasar salad with skirt steak and clam chowder with bacon. The Ceasar salad was ok and my husband said the chowder was pretty good...his only comment on the chowder was it had too much potatoes in it. Staff were friendly, but they could check in with us more than once. I ran out of water and needed a refill on a hot day. Parking wasn't great...on street or a pay for parking lot about $8 behind the restaurant. On a weekday, on street parking is used by the surrounding offices.
Food was good and the prices weren’t too steep. The portions were a good size, with some being much bigger than others. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and numerous TVs to watch various sporting events. I would go back here again, as they had a few good vegetarian options to try on the sweet and savory side.
Good food and great customer service on a busy Saturday night! The salmon was DELICIOUS, moist and tender with a flaky crisp crust! Seasoned perfectly. Only downside was the carrots were pretty raw. The poke nachos were good! Texture of the tortilla chips were similar to the crispness and crunch of pork rinds.
More of a bar / pub / sports bar than restaurant. The atmosphere is dimly lit to create atmosphere; however, it makes it hard to read the menu. Great selection of high quality beers. The menu is typically pub / bar fare with appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and bun based food. Some of the more upscale items are the same base components with something extra. Now I do have a complaint that no Bavarian Pretzel should be served with Sriracha sauce. That goes over the top. I also asked the server if the meat balls in the sub are house made? She said yes, but my palete said NO! Overall it's a pleasant experience but it feels very chain like. There are better local options, like the Fox n Goose or Burgers and Brew that would be a more original experience.
(This location is Iron Horse Tavern in Sacramento airport) Hostess sat us near airport window and waitress didn't realize we were there. We sat until my husband went to acknowledge we were sitting there. Waitress was Awesome after she realized we were there. Food was good, decent prices, didn't take long for food to come out, nice window view of airport staff loading luggage and doing their job, could clean the window seals near windows alot of dirt and dust, nice atmosphere if waiting for airplane in airport
Great place to hang out with friends and people watch. Food is tasty and the service was great! I had the loco moco and it was pretty considering we weren't in Hawaii. My friend had a burger and fries and it looked great. If you have a sweet tooth, try the beignets... you get a ton with yummy dipping sauces. Can't wait to go back!
EDIT: Not sure how to change the location of the review but this is actually for Bawk, the chicken sandwich and bar across the street from Iron Horse! Cute spot for drinks and limited chicken themed menu. Get cocktails 🍷, beer 🍺 or cider 🥤 and chow down on some chicken nachos or chicken 🍗 sandwich and fries 🍟 This is totally a secret but they also have a speakeasy here 🙊 🙈 If you ask politely the bartender might even tell you more about this top secret speakeasy and it's location 🤫
The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was nice and we had excellent service. The salmon was excellent. My husband ordered the tuna poke nachos, and they were also excellent. I only gave the restaurant four stars because I didn't like the banana cream pie. The pie was beautiful. However, I was searching for banana flavor. To my surprise the pie also had chocolate on the crust. If you like traditional banana cream pie, do not order this dessert.
Great food! Came here for my birthday last night and everyone enjoyed what they ordered, the drinks are phenomenal! The only thing that I was upset about since I have worked in hospitality for over 10 years is that the employees all seemed to be monotonous. There was very little expression when talking to any of them. That can really be a turn off although food/atmosphere was great. Will try again in the future. Thank you
Friendly staff but food quality has gone down for the past few years. I take a detour here coming from Lake Tahoe going back to Bay Area whenever I get a chance. And of the decade that I've know of Iron Horse Tavern this is the first time their food has not matched the experience I had on my first visit. Hoping my next visit in a year or two improves 🙏
The food and service is always good. This time around howeverwasn't our luck. I ordered the Santa Fe Salad, it was ok, the dressing lacked flavor. My husband ordered the fried Korean chicken plate I believe it was called. He stated his dish was also "OK and lacked flavor". We have been here a few time and we know not all dishes lacked flavor or seasoning. Maybe it was just an off night. The beignets never fail though, which is the main reason we always come. They are soft and chewy. This time around we also ordered a slice of the banana pie. It was also delicious, it reminded me of a flan the way the bananas and sauce was caramelized. Still leaving 4 stars because their food and service is usually good.
I came on a Sunday morning for breakfast and ordered the Eggs Benedict. I was impressed that the food was brought to the table so quickly that it arrived before the coffee. The food was tasty but maybe slightly on the salty side. I liked that it came on a bed of a potato patty. I wish it came with meat like a typical Benedict. I really like the atmosphere of this place. It's not the first time I've eaten here. This restaurant is a great addition to the revitalization of R street.

The food, the service, and the atmosphere we all nice. We made reservations, showed up early. and they sat us early. I would go again if I eat in midtown more.
Love the food! 5 stars for the food. The restaurant seems to be poorly staffed. The host is hardly ever in the front leading to unnecessarily long wait times. They have difficulty getting their tables cleaned to turnover. Seems like a few staff tweaks could turn this around and greatly increase customer satisfaction and profit.
Great brunch. Good fried chicken and waffle. Nice eggs benny. I wished for different garnishes (regular syrup vs. jalapeno butter, salsa, bread vs. rosti) but still everything was delicious. Friendly and attentive service. Bottomless mimosas are premixed and heavy on the OJ, but decent. Everything is $18-25 so on the pricey side. Ambience is restaurant group does fancy Black Angus but bigger tables.
I had gone there with a group of 6 adults, and 2 kids so it was an automatic 18%gratuity. We were seated like within 30 minutes, so we waited at the bar area. Alcohol drinks were really good. The atmosphere was nice. Once we got seated, they took forever to get our orders. I recommend the shrimp appetizer. I had ordered 2 orders of kids chicken nuggets which didn't look like chicken nuggets when it came out. It was super overcooked and dry. It was a waste my kids didn't even eat it.
Good service but I didn't like the Thai steak salad. Steak tasted really strange and possibly like the meat was old. The restaurant was also nice.

Visited for dinner on Friday. Pretty much busy on weekends. Quick Service, Staff, place and prices was decent but food is average. 4 stars rating is for spicy and Sweet shrimp, Beer collection, sitting capacity and location. Ordered Chicken Wings, 2 Impossible burgers with fries and kettle chips & spicy shrimp. Spicy and Sweet Shrimps are delicious. Chicken Wings are semi cooked, not fresh we can consider as cold served. Requested Server to replace my food and they did replacement with fresh chicken wings freshly made, properly cooked..Thanks for replacement. Then received cold impossible burgers, I'm expecting hot buns and pattie. Buns are very hard to cut into 2 halves due to frozen one.
I went to Iron Horse Tavern in downtown Sacramento with my niece to celebrate her graduation. I made it clear to the host and our server that we were celebrating, so we expected at least decent service. Instead, we got the exact opposite. The food was nothing to write home about. Brunch here is overrated. The only thing worth mentioning were the beignets, which were delicious. Everything else was forgettable. What made the experience truly disappointing was the service. Our server seemed to go out of her way to ignore us while giving constant attention to another nearby table of a different race. Every time we asked for something, she rolled her eyes, acted like we were a burden, forgot items, and never brought things we requested. The difference in treatment was hard to ignore. Once it was obvious we were not going to leave a tip for such disrespectful service, she completely disappeared and never returned to our table. What should have been a special brunch for my niece’s graduation ended up feeling dismissive and uncomfortable. If you are looking for a place to celebrate or simply enjoy brunch where you are treated with basic respect, I would look elsewhere. Sacramento has plenty of better options.
Food is always good but couldn’t say the same for service. My visit prior the waitress was extremely rude. I tried to give it another shot & this past visit the server made it a point to press 20% on tablet before handing it over. Feel like that’s a bit sketchy like they are hoping you don’t notice when you sign.
There was a 30 min wait for 2 ppl. Walked to the empty bar and they told us we could order food there. That should have been offered to us in the 1st place as an option. Ordered a drink, which was perfect. We were told the prime rib sandwich was good, but it really tasted like a freezer sandwich. It wasnt that good.
Went in last night oct 30th with a friend, the atmosphere of the place was great, the host and our server Cam I think, a blonde lady was very nice and on top of her game. Sadly the food we got was less than good.. the ahi nachos way too much sauces and just over powered any hint of the ahi, so we barely ate it, then I got the Hawaiian ribeye and honestly was the toughest steak I have ever got. Sad cause I really liked the place.
The service was odd, but I'll give her grace because I think she was extending her shift to cover for someone. The food was bland but the drinks were good. The fried pickles with onion were tasty but whatever creamy vinegarette they paired with it was disgusting 🫣 our pizza tasted was bland, undercooked and similar to a frozen pizza, but my friends pizza was cooked well and was fine. My shortrib stroganoff tasted like water and mushrooms and the shortribs were dry yet fatty and flavorless. Their prices have also increased recently. I should've kept it safe and gotten a burger or sandwich but I've never had a bad shortrib before, anywhere. Not even Brunch spots like Mimosa House.
My wife and I were out for drinks and dinner on R St., and decided to try Iron Horse. \nMost of the surrounding restaurants looked full and we didn't want to wait. Iron Horse didn't look that full,…

Really is this place too cheap to have their cooks overlap in shifts ... Came in to have lunch at 2:30 and they told us the kitchen was closed after brunch.... I won't support any business that is too cheap to have their cooks overlap. 0 excuses are welcomed here.
Food was terrible. Ordered the fish & chips and they served me over cooked frozen fish that was soaking in oil. Told the server she took it back and I ordered the chicken sandwich which was the same thing over fried and soaked in oil. I couldn't eat it. The fries were rock hard. Overpriced for frozen food not even fresh. They gave me 2.5 pieces of fish for $22. Yeah no on top of that it wasn't even fresh fish and over battered and over fried as if the oil was old not fresh. The kids cheese pizza was soaked in grease not appetizing at all. I wouldn't reccomend this place but maybe your experience will be better than mine.
From out of town and stoped by for the first time because I had heard such good things. Ordered the chicken and pancakes. Pancakes were very good with the maple butter but I was disappointed when I took a bite out of my chicken because it didn’t taste like anything. Absolutely no seasoning no flavor whatsoever and as much as I like crispy chicken mine was definitely over cooked. Our server seemed like she didn’t want to answer any questions about the menu when we asked for recommendations. I only remeber she was blonde and looked a little older but I don’t recall her name. Only checked on us once when she handed us our boxes, but probably won’t go back because frankly we didn’t feel welcome.
12/7/2025, went in with my wife and was greeted and sat down. Waiter took our drink order and 15 mins had passed and yet no drinks yet nor to checkup on us. We love iron horse but the service absolutely sucks! Worst part is they weren’t even busy! Definitely will be going to the Folsom location instead.
My family and I came in for brunch. Had mimosas and the bartender was very nice. We got seated and the waitress finally showed up after an extremely long wait. She looked overwhelmed and like she was put out. She told us she would get us water. She never came back! It was not crowded and so we left. Never had a lack of service before! I wanted to talk to the manager but my girls said they won’t care.
