Sakura Sushi House Willows Reviews
I stopped at Sakura Sushi House in Willows after a job interview. They are as surprised as you should be that I’d want to leave the coast, but I do. Then to try Sushi 90 minutes from Sacramento and 3.5 hrs from the coast. Adventure awaits. This is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a high quality dining experience. From the start, the visit is effortless thanks to the spectacular parking, which is a refreshing change of pace. Upon walking in, the amazing atmosphere immediately grabs your attention, featuring vibrant Japanese murals and a modern, polished look. The entire establishment is very clean, and the service is truly top rated, striking the perfect balance between professional and genuinely welcoming. The food is where this spot really shines, as everything served is very fresh and beautifully presented. The house salad is a crisp, refreshing way to begin, followed by hand rolls that showcase the kitchen's expertise. The Spider Hand Roll features perfectly prepared soft shell crab with excellent texture, while the Escolar Hand Roll is incredibly buttery and rich. Between the fun "Prize Wheel" at the counter and the high caliber of the sushi, it is clear why this is a local favorite. It is a must visit if you are in the area.
Found traveling for work, food was amazing! Staff was friendly and helpful. Will eat here again when passing through. Food won’t disappoint. Prices are very reasonable. Thank you again.
Super fast service and very attentive waitress. I got my food in under 10 minutes and it was very good. They have a $12 happy hour roll special from 4-6 PM.
FANTASTIC SERVICE AND FOOD! wow wow wow, I loved getting the opportunity to stop here. Went for a hike in the area and decided to stop for sushi. Apparently this was their soft opening and I was SHOCKED how good the food was. All the rolls complemented each other well. Some places you go to and the flavor profile of the rolls are so similar you can hardly tell the difference- not here! Every roll we got stood out with its own flavors. Will definitely be coming back here!!! The service was incredible, you can tell they really want to please their customers. Congratulations on the opening. 😁
Normally, sushi in the middle of nowhere would be a bit risky. But the highly rated Google reviews are for good reason. This is a family owned business who also own another successful sushi restaurant in Sacramento. Thick cuts, quality fish, wonderful people. A hidden gem. Don’t sleep on this one!
Sakura has spectacular sushi. Simon and Tim do an amazing job. The rest of the crew are friendly and the service is great. We even got to witness how well they dealt with a rude woman with her three small children. No matter how loud and obnoxious she was they again were polite and helpful. I did feel sorry for the kids though.
Visited July 5th..see my receipt. What a find in Willows! The reviews are correct - great sushi! It is located off of highway 5 and behind Black Bear diner. I was traveling on my birthday and I wanted sushi! The roll i got had tuna and avocado and it was a big portion! I am extremely picky about raw tuna and this was fresh! Great presentation! Of course I also got my edamame fix which were perfect ( some places put too much salt on theirs). There is plenty of parking. The drive thru is not open yet. You can dine in and enjoy the air conditioning or also do take out. They have beer and wine and sake as well. Bathrooms were sparkling clean as well as the restaurant itself. Owner (juan) and his staff are super friendly and pleasant! I also got green tea ice cream for my birthday! Lovely food and i will definitely be back!
Best sushi in the world! Simon the chef is fantastic both in his ability to make beautiful sushi and have meaningful conversations with the customers! And the waitress Evelyn was very sweet and attentive. All around a great experience!
I'm from the Bay Area, and was out in Willows at the Thunderhill track, and noticed that a new restaurant had opened up. Decided to give it a shot, and was very surprised at the quality of the sushi. I was expecting the typical inland empire style sushi, but it was far far from that! Simon (the chef) introduced himself when I sat at the sushi bar and talked me through several options. I wish this place was closer to home, because it beats the vast majority of Bay Area sushi spots! It'll be a special treat after a track day.
Friendly staff. Great food. I got the cucumber salad and chicken teriyaki bowl. Pretty large portions.
This place was fantastic! The staff were on top of everything and incredibly friendly, the service was super quick that we hardly waited at all, and the food was absolutely amazing! The fish tasted so fresh, the portions of sushi were perfect. So far the favorite is the Crazy Roll, but will definitely be coming back to see more of the menu, and highly recommending it!
The other reviews got me to stop here and I was not disappointed. Can't believe this is in Willows, it's some of the best sushi I've ever had. Ordered the yellowtail sashimi and it was phenomenal, tasted like it just came out of the ocean. That and they cut the daikon much finer than anywhere else and it's noticeably nicer in your mouth. Also order the Hot Night roll, spicy tuna topped with avocado and tuna. Very generous with the fish but the best part is the rice. Almost every sushi house has rice that's just too hard. Not these guys, very soft rice in the roll. I've only had rice like that in a couple of other places, it's amazing. It's probably the best sushi I've had in northern California.
It was so yummy are favorite place to go!!! Everyone is so nice and if you have any questions about the menu they are on top of it!!! Thank you so much for having your sushi restaurant in willows!
This place is great! Very pleasantly surprised with the quality of sushi.

This place is great! Very pleasantly surprised with the quality of sushi.
Excellent rolls, but even better nigiri. The freshness shines through. The hot edamame was salty and buttery and perfectly cooked. The rolls were a bit big, which is only a complaint if you have a small mouth. The staff is friendly but never hovering. Very professional. The restaurant itself is an old fast food place that they have creatively made comfortable. Bright and inviting. Glad we stopped on our way through.
I was pleasantly surprised how good this place is! I have eaten sushi at many places, and this little restaurant in this little town is top notch. I strongly recommend it.
We came in for lunch, it was slow but not in a bad way. The waitress was amazing. Probably the best service we have had in a very long time. The food was really good. We will definitely be back!
We were driving from south on I-5 late on a Friday evening, and I was so surprised to find such an amazing sushi place! My daughter said it was the best sushi place she has been to, and we've been to places all over, so that's saying a lot. It was packed on a Friday night, but the service was fast and very friendly. Two of my kids (tweens/teens) ordered Bento boxes, and the portions were very generous. The chicken teriyaki was delicious, as was the veggie tempura roll. The miso soup, salad, gyoza, edamame, and sushi were really tasty as well. We ordered wasabi on the side, and it was high quality and very spicy, which is just what we wanted. They have done a nice job with the space and the bathrooms and facilities seemed to be in great condition. I had some of the chicken teriyaki bowl we had left over for my lunch today. Highly recommend.
Such nice people and amazing food and you get such big portions. Would definitely recommend.

Stephanie was very kind and helpful when ordering. Food and drinks took forever but otherwise was a good experience. A hidden gem of Willows.

We stopped in Willow driving north on the evening about 7:30 on December 29th 2025. Stayed at the holiday Inn which is 0.3 miles from Sakura House. I used door dash and ordered chicken yaki noodles. When it arrived there was a pool of soy sauce on the bottom of the bag that the foam container was sitting on. It really was a mess! Wow the SALT was too much and so overwhelming in the dish! I just couldn't eat it.

5 stars on food, service, & atmosphere. Given a 1 star as a whole due to the family running this business can't keep their vehicles out of the disabled parking spaces. No placard on license plates OR on dash/hanging mirror in car. Both their white vehicle and their black vehicle with ABEESEA for license plate should NEVER be in those disabled spots without having a placard.
