Brandywine Restaurant Windham Reviews
My wife and I popped in here after a weekend of skiing and we were extremely impressed! The atmosphere was amazing with old school wood and beautiful plants. When a resturant has specialty herb butter and bread you know it’s only going to get better! We got the clams and soup of the day as an appetizer and both were amazing! For the entree we got the ravioli and the fish special! Again both meals were absolutely divine. The creme brûlée was a fantastic finisher. The service was perfect. The waitress, Dawyn, was very attentive and kind! We will be returning many more times. Thank you for such a great meal!
We literally just returned home from a Christmas dinner at Brandywine. It was WONDERFUL. They offered a buffet with numerous great items, including eggplant rollatini, prime rib, chicken, fish, meatballs, roasted potatoes & more. Everything was fresh, and it is clear that Joe takes great pride in the food he prepares. I have been going to Brandywine since they opened (I was much younger then lol) and it is truly one of the most consistently good restaurants on either side of the mountain. When a place has been around this long, you have to realize they know what they are doing. Merry Christmas 🎄
Lovely place for a family dinner or a date night. Our waitress was Dana and she was an absolute pleasure. Food was wonderful and the espresso crème brûlée was the best thing in the world. I highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.
Brandywine was recommended by friends of our. We went to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent and the staff was super friendly. We had early reservations and beat any crowd. There was nothing to complain about. We will definitely be returning again!
Very cozy ambiance and good food. Make a reservation, because they seem to get very busy around 5.30pm-6pm. My husband had the rib eye and he said it was really good. There is also a very good selection of wines at decent prices. Great choice if you are in the area! ✨
I used their catering services for my mother’s 90th birthday party in Prattsville NY. The food was amazing and all guests raved about it…Chicken Franchise, London Broil, Penne Vodka, Pasta Primavera, Broccoli and Salad. All delicious. Sara was great to work with. Thank you Brandywine! I recommend them highly.
Food was excellent. Host and staff make you feel like family. We had dinner with the Wounded Warrior Project and the Adaptive Sports Clinic. The owner is a volunteer with the two programs. He puts his heart into what he does and I am grateful for the time and experience that I shared with him.
My meal off the specials was truly special. My wives was not I was good but not very good and she thinks that there was garlic in it even though she requested garlic free. Staff were very nice but the restaurant itself was a bit old, needs more lighting.
This Windham Italian restaurant has been around for a long time! I've eaten here several times over the last few years since we own a 2nd home, here in the Catskill Mountains. I was never overly impressed with the restaurant which seems "tired". The carpets are old, the booths are not very comfortable and the restaurant can get very loud on weekend evenings, even though we usually come for a 5:30pm seating. On Friday, the day before Valentine's, we came here for an early dinner, only to learn that their online menu prices are not the same ones as in the restaurant. I ordered the fish filet off their menu, which was swimming in butter and had little/no taste. I ate less than half of the dish which came with pasta, as the waitress refused to substitute it for my request of mashed potatoes, saying it was reserved for the pork loin special. My husband ordered the pork loin special which was ok, but when we received the bill, we were shocked at the $45 price of his dish - which seemed excessively high, considering it was just a regular meal and the other meats on the menu were closer to $25-30. They recently raised the prices on their cocktails - not indicated on the menu and we were also surprised at that, since most restaurants in this area charge much less for cocktails. This isn't NYC.. . The service is very good and attentive, but I would not return. Very expensive for only average food.
We have been celebrating our wedding anniversaries every year at Brandywine. My wife and I made it a tradition. As a family we have celebrated birthdays, graduation and other family affairs at Brandywine. It was our “ go-to” restaurant. Over the years we have never been disappointed in either the quality of the food or the service. Today my wife and I decided to maintain the tradition of celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary at Brandywine. This time we were terribly disappointed in the quality of the food. The waitress service was consistently excellent. Dawn was our server and she continues to provide excellent service. The disappointment came in the quality of the food. Since a salad was a part of our meal, my wife and myself ordered a vinegarette dressing. It was totally tasteless. We each agreed that we both felt it had no taste. As an entree, my wife ordered her favorite dish: Chicken Grismonde. She was totally looking forward to this most delicious entree we have ordered in the past. This meal was such disappointment and truly bland and tasteless. Something has happened in either the management or culinary staff that such a drastic change has occurred in the food quality. I ordered the Brandywine broiled seafood medley. This item was a disappointment in that it was also bland and tasteless . We mentioned our disappointment in the salad dressing to our waitress but we never discussed our disappointment in our entree. Based on this most recent dining experience, we will probably not be celebrating our family celebrations at Brandywine. Another family tradition has been canceled. I hope the Brandywine proprietors take this positive advice to look at the poor quality of the kitchen staff’s culinary ability. These comments are not intended to denigrate the Brandywine staff and its owners. They are meant to strictly advise them of our disappointment in the food quality. We hope they shake this advice and bring back the former food quality that some may have enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately we won’t be back to witness any improvements, if any.
I recently revisited Brandywine, a place I used to frequent throughout my childhood. I was excited to return, but the visit fell short in several ways. There were four of us plus a baby, and we were seated at a table far too small for our group. It was so cramped that the waitress had difficulty finding space for our two appetizers. On top of that, we were placed directly under a ceiling speaker that crackled and buzzed constantly—definitely not conducive to a comfortable dining experience. One small silver lining was that we were served quickly. I remembered long waits as a kid, so I was glad to skip that part. Unfortunately, the service itself was lackluster. Our server seemed uninterested in engaging with us at all. It’s hard not to wonder if our visibly queer and trans identities influenced the cold reception, but whatever the reason, there were little to no pleasantries and minimal effort beyond the absolute basics. The soda had an odd taste, and they were out of the creamy Italian dressing I used to love, which was really disappointing. The salads, when they arrived, were very small and served on cheap plastic plates, which didn’t help the overall impression. The portion sizes for the entrées were generous, but the quality left a lot to be desired. I ordered the carbonara, which was watery, bland, and unappetizing. The bacon was oddly pink and undercooked, adding to my discomfort. Overall, the experience was disappointing. The food didn’t live up to my memories, the atmosphere was unpleasant, and the service felt cold at best. Sadly, this visit made it clear that Brandywine isn’t what it used to be—and I likely won’t be returning.
I have been going to Brandywine for many years. I am disappointed with how much the quality has decreased. I ordered a hot antipasto. It came with 2 of many items. I could not tell the difference of any of the items. They did not explain what they were, and all were covered with sauce, and many were overcooked. The service was very slow. Overall, it is not worth going back.
Came here after a day of skiing and ordered at around 5:30, restaurant was virtually empty. Was served my food over an hour later at 6:45. My food was lukewarm and the seafood was subpar. It was an okay experience, probably below average. Would not really recommend. Judging from some of the reviews I have read, it seems that more recently the restaurant has been on a decline.
Absolutely horrible service speed and attitude. An hour at the table and all that came were the appetizers. Waitress was rude to the extent that seemed like she wanted us to get out immediately, if so just send us our food and we can be on our way... Food was mediocre, service was horrible, only thing acceptable was the atmosphere. Will not be coming back and do not recommend anyone to come here unless all you want is watching a candle burn to its death.
