Derek's Truck Woodside Reviews
The Suadero tacos are a must! Super tender and unlike any other tacos you've had. The birria tacos were great as well and came with consome. Excellent portions and great flavor!
Delicious tacos with plenty of seating next to the truck. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients, and the portions are generous with good price. Good neighborhood staple!
Had the Al pastor torta. Came out hot and fresh. Ate it beside the truck for a music festival on the same block. I had zero expectations about the food; it was relatively inexpensive. They didn't have the meats like lengua or tripe at the time so I settled for Al pastor. It was a banger. Crispy fatty meat mixed with bits of pineapple in my torta. I'd recommend it. Good stuff.
Absolutely delicious cecina tacos. Perfect meal post-BK Mirage.

Here you can get the best quesadillas in the world! We are from Germany and found Derek's Food truck quite spontaneously! And all we can say is wow! He definitely has the best quesadillas! Thank you!
Living in Bushwick I must say this is the most underrated tacos truck. They cook delicious! The steak tacos are great. Tender and tortillas super soft. Chicken quesadillas are a lil bland but still good If you want to eat a lil healthier, bit the best thing on the menu are the birria tacos, they are better than Peter's crunch red tacos which were voted the best birria In Bushwick , Derek's consome is hearty, and the tacos are a bit bigger, the beef is tender. I absolutely recommend food from Derek's truck anytime.
Consistently amazing Mexican food. Have had their food a number of times now. The birria is incredible - SERIOUSLY. Today I also tried the enchiladas verdes. Also delicious. The chicken inside is high quality. I highly recommend.
This is the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The tacos were so flavorful, the tostadas were incredible and the food was ready quickly. There’s a lot nearby so you can take a little walk while you wait. If you’re thinking about getting food from here this is your sign to do it!
I came here after a show at the Brooklyn Mirage so there was a rush of ppl. My order took 30 minutes but the workers were orderly getting peoples food out. But let’s talk about the food. The tacos were $4 and they’re huge. 2 should be okay, 3 if your really hungry. At $12 for 3 tacos, it’s equal to an average burrito in terms of how much food you get. We got chorizo and there were crispy ends in there. It was soo good. A perfect crunch. The carnitas tacos were also amazing. You know when youre 420’d out and you really crave a good taco/burrito. This is the place. We also got a chicken burrito which the chicken also had crispy ends. It’s so good. The whole order came with a tub of salsa (solid spicy, not super spicy). For a food truck at 1:30am, I am super impressed with how good their food is. Probably the best Mexican food I have ever gotten from a truck.
Probably the best burrito around this neighborhood. The size of their burrito is huge and their service is pretty quick. Their red sauce is spicy as hell. Overall a great experience.
I’ve been complaining for almost 20 years that NYC has no great Mexican food. I was wrong! Plus, the servers are kind and helpful. They sometimes let me practice Spanish with them. They’ve also made special veggie options just for me. We love going here!
I think I’ve found my favorite Brooklyn food truck. We tried the chorizo & bistec tacos, as well as a chicken torta. Everything was genuinely perfect— the texture, the seasoning, the size of the tacos, the amount of meat. Both the green and red sauces are delicious, and complement the food really well. They also prepared the food in a really timely manner! The wait wasn’t too long at all, and there were other customers before us. Honestly, I woke up craving more. That chicken torta is to die for. Can’t wait to try more of their menu!
Ordered a chorizo bfast burrito, got a regular chorizo burrito. I didn't say a damn word about the mix up cuz it was fire! Chorizo, good!, Rice, good! Cheese good! If you need more than that you have problems that i need a more advanced degree to solve. Luv ya, good luck!
Birria Definitely hit the spot after a skate at Xanadu. Got the birria combo of mulita, quesadilla, torta, and 2 tacos for $35 split for two…great deal. So much meat. The soup container was so small but to our surprise we had leftover. Still wish it was a bigger container to be able to dip. All were pretty much the same tortilla wise, except the torta with so much meat, onions, cilantro…like a Mexican French dip. Anyway, all delicious. Bonus burnt cheese on the taco. Obsessed.
Late night bar hopping on a random Wednesday night with friends and we got hungry. Was recommended by some people to go to this street with some food options- pizza, tacos, sandwiches, etc. Came across a Mexican food truck, but it had pictures of burgers, hotdogs, tacos, and probably ice cream too. I thought to myself, “what type of nonsense is this” plus the name was “Derek Food Truck” not “Derek’s.” Needless to say, the initial reaction was not good, but I really wanted tacos that night so I ordered. Let me tell you, Derek knows what he’s doing. Looks are deceiving. Some of the best tacos I’ve had. Not the absolute best, but top 5. Better than Los Tacos No.1. Tacos were piled high with meat and he has this guac sauce that was perfection. Also had the limes and radishes which were a good sign. The man does not sell burgers and hotdogs, so he should take it off his truck because he’s really confusing people. Would love to come again if I’m in Brooklyn, which I never am.

It's fine nothing special, if I am being honest. Basic food truck. Decent food. I think there are better things in the area..

Okay place. Made an order for pick up which was supposed to be 20-25 mins according to them but ended up being 47min wait. Food is decent but not worth the service.

Burrito literally fell apart in my hands. Tortilla just wasn't wrapped at all.
Very unhappy with my order. First of all, when I opened my order I got upset because it did not look appetizing at all. I got shrimp quesadillas (basically a wrap folded in half, with chunky cheese), veggie taco (basically a rice and lettuce taco), and rice and beans (the rice tasted like water and burnt pot). There was no flavor in anything I ate, I couldn’t even finish my meal. $45 down the drain, please do yourself a favor and check out any other taco truck on the strip.

I place a order it was not that crazy busy and it 3 people working on a truck i wait for my food for a hour 20 minutes then they give me my food the tacos where ok but the sauce that they give you for those are not even good I order for us to semita and the I toke a bit the food taste it descasten and i end up throwing it away to the trash made me feel nauseous. Definitely not gonna shop there again.
This used to me my favorite spot, but they changed staff and the quality of the food went down. They have a new guy taking orders and he’s just weird and does not want to take any orders or answer the phone for pick up , kinda just stares at you weirdly .
