L&B Zahínos Reviews
L&B Spumoni Gardens is a true New York institution and a must-visit spot in Brooklyn. From the moment you arrive, you feel that old-school, authentic neighborhood vibe that makes the place so special. The square Sicilian pizza is legendary. The thick, airy crust is perfectly baked, the tomato sauce is rich and slightly sweet, and the cheese sits beautifully underneath the sauce — a unique and delicious twist that makes it stand out from any other slice in NYC. Every bite is comforting and full of flavor. And of course, you can’t leave without trying their famous spumoni. Creamy, colorful, and refreshing, it’s the perfect way to end your meal. It adds that nostalgic Italian-American touch that defines the place. The outdoor seating area creates a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. It’s lively, casual, and feels like a true Brooklyn gathering spot. Despite being popular, the service remains efficient and well organized. If you want authentic, classic New York pizza with history and personality, L&B Spumoni Gardens is non-negotiable. Iconic, flavorful, and unforgettable. Highly recommended
Classic Brooklyn vibes! Came here Sunday around 7:30 PM. It was packed, but we were seated in just 15 mins! Very family-oriented and lively. Pro-tip: Don't even bother with the parking lot; go for street parking. Must-orders: • Sicilian Pizza (The best!) • Baked calms & Shrimp Cocktai • Chicken Bolognese Not a fan of • potato croquettes • chicken Parmigiana Overall experience was great, will come back again!
Jack was a fantastic host. Really made us feel welcome and his hospitality was the best we’ve had since being in New York. What a lovely place to visit. The pizza was delicious, would recommend the grandma pizza!
Anyone following me knows my dad and I love a good pasta and/or pizza so when we stumbled onto Spumoni Omg there was magic in the air. Greeted by amorous smells wafting out of the kitchen we were powerless instantly ordering three test slices. We were not disappointed the smell of melted cheese (actual cheese) topped on the sauces and dough was amazing giving instant thoughts to the stories of brick oven pizza’s my dad told growing up. The crust was amazing crispy yet soft in the right places with the the sauce going a plucked fresh from the garden taste simple but delicious. We couldn’t stay long to try the pasta due to a prior engagement but I will update this later this week with food pics. - sb : only thing that survived was pops coffee 😌
This is my favourite pizza spot in New York for a Sicilian square: a proper, crisp base, soft in the middle, with the mozzarella underneath and the tomato sauce on top, finished with grated cheese. It looks simple, but it hits every time. It crispy, a bit oily and soft, perfection.
I ordered pizza through Uber Eats and was pleasantly surprised by how fast my order was accepted and prepared. I also left a note asking for fresh basil on the side — and wow, thank you so much for the generous amount! They included a whole container of fresh basil, which truly made my day. The pizza was absolutely delicious, especially the Sicilian square pizza — it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Amazing service, thoughtful details, and incredible food. You are the best! Highly recommend!
This is the kind of place you go to when you want a glass of something interesting, not just the usual suspects. The wine list is clearly curated with care—lots of small producers and unique varietals you don't see everywhere. Our server knew the list inside and out and helped us pick a bottle that paired beautifully with our meal without being pretentious about it. They even offered us a taste first. The food is clearly designed with the wine in mind; the flavors complement each other perfectly. A wonderful spot for oenophiles and casual drinkers alike.
I’ve been coming to L&B Spumoni Gardens since I was young and honestly, from childhood to now raising my own family, this place remains the heart of Brooklyn for me. We have a tradition that began when I was young and I continue it with my girls and has been going strong for 19 years now: every holiday season, after we take the kids to see the Dyker Heights lights, we head straight here for dinner. It’s also my go-to spot year-round whenever I need to swing by and grab a half-square (because let’s be real, no one does a thick crust with the sauce on top like L&B). This recent visit, after seeing the Dyker homes, we headed here also to celebrate my friend Joe’s birthday. He has never been to Spumoni as he was not from Brooklyn. Lenny came right up to our table to say hello and immediately made us feel like family. He is such a class act and truly made us feel at home. He went totally over the top to make Joe’s night special, bringing us his favorite appetizers on the house and even surprising us with a dessert special on the house that was just incredible. As always, the food was 10/10 and that pizza is consistently delicious. It’s rare to find a place that holds onto its magic for decades, but L&B never misses a beat. Thank you, Lenny, for taking such amazing care of us! We’ll be back soon!
As a man who grew up in Coney Island and Brooklyn boy, this place brings you back to the old school Italian deli feel. The food tastes like the heroes you get from the best pizzerias and they obviously focus on the sauce the way it's intended like real Italians would. I only had the tomato Sicilian with vodka sauce, meatball hero with fresh mozzarella, and shared a chicken parm with vodka sauce. Each bite was delicious and the service was great despite being busy. On the way out, the guy remembered my name and asked how was the food. I said, it was amazing and it definitely was. Come try this place out. There is also pasta as well. Parking is a bit crazy and people were double parked down the block, waiting to get in. You must try it if in the area!! Sorry as i didn't get the usual photos I typically don't when trying places out but trust me, it's good. They also have this ice cream boat that people order for special occasions. It's a mix between pistachio, chocolate, and creamoso ice creams with cones and piled high. You can find pictures of it in other reviews.
Love this place. The rice balls were very tasty and the Sicilian pie was one of the best I have ever tried. The italian ice tasted just like when I was a kid. Can't wait until my next visit to try some other items. I also had rigatoni and sausage in Marinara sauce. And the meatballs were delicious. And the tiramisu was excellent.
The Sicilian slice had the perfect amount of doughiness and the perfect crispy bottom. We had the shrimp fra diavolo with linguini pasta. Pasta was cooked to al dente and paired very well with the red sauce. Fried calamari was tender, not chewy at all, and was delicious with the marinara sauce. Definitely coming back to try other items from the menu and the GELATO!
True to their legendary status the pizza was amazing, round and square both a different delight in every bite . From the soft pillowy dough of the Sicilian to the cheesy goodness of the Round cheese both were delicious, the spumoni was a very nice touch to finish off a pizza pie meal , lots of fresh pistachio chunks and packed with flavor to boot. Thank you for the good time and great food.
Been coming here for decades. They have a full service restaurant with seafood and pasta. They have a walk up cash only pizza window with their famous squares. It is 4$ a slice/square - but worth it. They have a large outdoor seating area but can get chilly in the shade. There is usually street parking. I will post more pictures once I come for dinner at the restaurant. They have ice cream and spumoni. I tried the seasonal pumpkin flavor and it is delicious. It was not too pumpkiny or sweet - it was a nice pumpkin spice flavor. You can also buy tubs of ice cream, Italian iced and spumoni.
Wonderful doesn't come close. We were a party of 10 including 3 kids, and we couldn't have had a more perfect afternoon. The food!! Yes of course the pizza but everything we ate was delicious -- mozzarella tomato salad, calamari, baked clams (to die for), soft and delicious chicken parm, the eggplant Sicilian ziti, the spaghetti marinara... Great inexpensive house chianti. And of course an incredible dessert platter. Thanks to the entire team - we will definitely be back!
really cool throwback old Brooklyn place. I've been here a couple of times and had plenty of items. salads, eggplant, parmesan, spumoni all really good. for this trip I got the Sicilian slice and a spumoni and I sat outside. it was super chill. really great vibes. didn't feel rushed at all. The slice was absolutely fantastic. really good crunch. the sauce had a real savory flavor without being acidic. it was delicious. what can you say about the spumoni? it is so good. it has nuts in it though for anybody who doesn't like that heads up always go for the corner!!!
If you’re looking for a perfect spot to enjoy great pizza outdoors, this place hits the mark. The outdoor seating is relaxed and inviting — a great vibe whether you’re catching up with friends or just enjoying a nice day out. We ordered the vodka pizza pie, and wow — it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crisp crust, rich and creamy sauce, and just the right amount of cheese. You can tell they put care into what they serve. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. Highly recommend if you’re a pizza lover or just want a solid, casual dining spot with a great atmosphere.
We had a wonderful visit to this local spot that’s been around for a century. We were greeted with so much warmth and the food was delicious and huge portion sizes. I asked about the Spumoni after our meal just because I was curious what was in it and our server quickly said “I’ll show you!” He came back a bit later with a plate full of spumoni that completely surprised us. It was delicious and they didn’t even charge us for it they just wanted us to experience it! What a great experience.
I went to this place yesterday and it was INCREDIBLE, AMAZING and SO DELICIOUS. OMG I had the best pizza 🍕in my life. The pie was So FRESH, flavored balanced with the ingredients and perfectly cooked. Plus, I had the rainbow Spumoni out of this world. Please do yourself a favor and go to enjoy the different delights that this place offers to all of us. The staff were so friendly, real and authentic Italian culture 🇮🇹 I had the BEST experience of my LIFE
With 2 locations at the moment. This is my favorite Pizza since I’m a child. I’ve been going to the one on 86th St forever. When you come here on a beautiful day, you definitely want to sit outside and eat pizza and enjoy their famous ice cream Spumoni. How many pizzerias do you go to that has an actual pie line? They have a restaurant that’s on the property. I personally had a few of my birthday parties here and made it a family style. All you can eat chef’s choice. They have a parking lot to the left of the restaurant if you were standing in front of it. The set up is. Pizza is on the left. Ice cream is in the middle. The restaurant is on the right.
We just recently arrived in New York and started to get acquainted with new places here. And I want to say that this place has become the best for us. We came here with our boys, and we were offered different delicious dishes to our taste. This restaurant has a very cozy and wonderful atmosphere. The waiters are very polite and attentive. Now we will often come here and recommend it to everyone who wants to eat deliciously and have a good time!
Great space, and even in the garden space — it was toasty warm on a frigid day. Great service and vibe. Plenty of people and clearly super popular. Ok - to the point: the pizza was really good! The 6 of us got a 12 slice rectangular pie, and it was crispy where it was supposed to be and the sauce was fresh and just so good. Recommend.
L&B Spumoni Gardens was a fun experience dining in and the Pizza was very good. I think an important note to make, their Sicilian pizza, which is the recommended one to get, is not like other Sicilian slices in NYC. It's more like a loaf is bread with the cheese and sauce on top. It's still very good but caught me off guard. I like the traditional Sicilian style better but I can appreciate what L&B is doing and I still very much enjoyed their pizza.
A great family hang out, even for special occasions! We had my 50th B Day there 🥳 Fast food 🍕 🍝 also is available, food prices have gone up like food joints across America, thxs Pre. Trump! Not bad for food place that started by their Grandfather on a horse 🐎 and buggy 👍🏻 cheers to the, "Spumoni Gardens"! 🍻
Never got offered water or bread were waiting almost 20 mind before anyone acknowledged us. The lady that came in behind us had 1 person seat her n her ppl 1 person behind him literally standing behind him with water and another man behind him with not 1 but 2 breads. I was so confused I ate my salad but that bothered me so I took the rest of my food to go. Dude saw my attitude on the way out I expressed how I felt he said oh ill give you bread a half of loaf not cut not warm. I was so done that salad was great for $16. The Asian couple next to us got the same treatment we were so pissed that it took so long for them to get service my date spoke up for them b4 we left. I couldn't enjoy my food there so I left
This is a really nice restaurant — a great-looking space with a lot going for it. I went in genuinely wanting to love their square slice, especially because they do sauce on top with cheese on the bottom. They also tout a big crunch, which is something I really appreciate. Unfortunately, the slice fell flat this time. It wasn’t left in the oven long enough, and the sauce on top was cold, which is a deal-breaker for me. The sauce itself actually tasted good, and the cheese was good quality as well, but the slice simply wasn’t warmed through say. To be fair, it was around 11:30 in the morning and they had likely just opened, so that may have played a role. Because of that — and because I love the concept — I’m giving it a 5/10 for this visit. I would absolutely come back and give it another shot. Sauce on top and cheese on the bottom is a great idea, and I’ve honestly never seen it done before. Today just wasn’t their best execution, but I’m open to being won over on a return visit.
Stick to the pizza. It’s fine, dare I even say respectable. The pasta in my experience was overcooked, soggy, and gross with no real cohesive sauce. Hiding behind giant portion sizes won’t make it any more enjoyable. The calamari was sad and the garlic bread would probably go hard in a high school cafeteria- but that’s about it. The pizza is fine though. The pizza is fine. Friendly atmosphere.
Unreal how much they’ve gone down in quality and service. Ordered a vodka pie, Caesar salad, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and 3 sodas. Vodka pie was so salty could hardly eat it. Caesar salad was unbelievably drenched in dressing and was not edible so we told the waiter it was too much dressing and we couldn’t eat it. He took it away just saying okay. Any other restaurants takes it off your bill because we hardly ate it. When the bill came and the salad was still on the bill we brought it to his attention. He just stood there thinking for like 30 seconds and just said I can’t take it off the bill. We were confused and questioned him and he said sorry I can’t take it off. Wasn’t even about the $17 for the salad it’s the way he said he wasn’t taking it off as if we ate half of it and returned it like we were trying to get a free salad. Management needs to train their wait staff better or at least consult management before refusing to remove an item. We happily paid for everything else because we ate it, over $100 of food. And we paid for the salad as well but it was subtracted from his tip for his terrible attitude and service.
We went and got a slice of Sicilian and a slice of round. You can’t put any toppings on slices and there’s none of the usual accoutrements: garlic powder, salt, parm, etc. The pizza still somehow tastes old and isn’t crispy on the bottom. There’s nowhere to sit inside so be prepared to sit outside or take your slices to go. Overall extremely underwhelmed and wouldn’t recommend.
