We decided to try this place for a lunch once upon a time. Since that we keep on visiting and no surprises, very good experience over and over again.
This place has excellent food and excellent service. The atmosphere is peaceful, upbeat, and uplifting. I had the protein bowl salad and it was super good; I chose the blackened salmon (which was really good, seasoned, not overcooked) and I asked for no corn, and it was great!
I had a choice of this place and Wood Grill that was down the street - one review compared Wood Grill to Appleby's so I chose Tavern 101 and I glad I did. The waitress recommended the brisket and it was the best - tender and smoky with a choice of sauces - I went for the hottest and it was not only hot but great flavor too. 5 star all the way
Wonderful service. The owner Marco checked on our table, and was so kind and attentive. Food was fantastic, and I love the Tavern IPA. Will be back soon. Great place.
This is an out of towner review* definitely didn’t plan on coming here after hiking but glad we did. Absolutely amazing food and wonderful service. We had the pleasure of having Adamn as our waiter who was welcoming and patient, he went over the entire spectrum of food and beer that they serve. It was absolutely great time and I would recommend any one from anywhere to come and try this wonderful gem near the Santa Monica Mountains
Good food and great service! Portions are good and quality as well. Had their fish and chips which was dive nicely. Their tartar sauce stood out as trading really fresh and light, yet full of flavor (compared to the normally heavy feeling tartar sauce)
OMG!!! If you are reading this, it means you're considering going to Tavern 101 Grill & Tap House out of all the options available... Well, STOP IT, JUST GO!!!! FOOD AMAZING!!! Wings, Mac& Cheese, Prime Rib sandwich, Short Ribs sandwich, Sweet Potato Fries, (Seriously, THE SWEET POTATO FRIES ARE NEXT LEVEL NO NEXT GENERATION... for real, they actually taste like you've read they're SUPPOSED to taste, crunchy and soft, SWEET.... SO GOOD!!!!) MAC AND CHEESE... OMG... SO GOOD!!!! Outdoor patio for my doggies pleasure, and the vibe, the music, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!! SO, GO AND ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!
I came here for the first time last week one evening for a going away party, and our large group sat outside on the patio. Normally I don't have high expectations for large group get togethers, but everyone's order was spot on, the service was fantastic, and drinks flowed reliably. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was excellent. Highly recommended
Great everything Very good quality for the beef and its cooking
OMG!!! We love this place. The best ribs we have ever had and they know how to pour a drink!!! The Ahi fish Tacos are to die for and so are the chicken wings!!! They really took care of us On a large order for our staff at work....THANK YOU DANIELLE, MARCO AND PRINCESS!!!!
Great BBQ! Several sauces to choose from. Big portions. Friendly servers.
Tavern 101 is one of the best BBQ joints in the area! The owner, Marco, is always there with a smile on his face ready to serve. T101 burger is awesome, perfect texture and cooked to medium rare perfection. The patio is a great place to sit with friends. Please support T101. They have always graciously supported first responders.
Even Better Food Than Wood Ranch! I still love Wood Ranch, but Tavern 101 has a much tastier Seasoning and BBQ sauce. They also seem to cook the Baby Back ribs to perfection, with it being a perfect mix of crispy on the outside, tender and less fatty on the inside. Same goes with their brisket sandwich, Tri-Tip and pulled pork. It is also much faster to get food there, since it is much less known than Wood Ranch, even though it is right down the street. With that said, you their corn bread just can't beat the Wood Ranch Garlic Rolls, so I actually order the rolls at Wood Ranch and pick them up along the way to getting Tavern 101.
Gave our dogs water before we got drinks….drinks are amazing and food even better!! Staff was consistently friendly and got us anything we asked for. Great place…we live nearby and are about to be regulars! Try it, you’ll love it!! Dog friendly a huge plus!!
Straight up solid BBQ! Brisket was on point and the helpings were generous and worth the price.
Good beer, great food! Loved the tri tip. Cooked to perfection, highly recommend! Owner is a very nice guy too, I was there on a Saturday and had a chance to meet him.
Visited for dinner in Saturday evening. Ordered the Prime Rib and Short Rib. Both of them tasted great. The Prime Rib was soft and tender for the medium rare taste. My wife enjoyed the sweet potato fries and tasted them the best sweet potato fries that she ever ate. They are crunchy outside but soft like butter and melted in her mouth. The live music was nice and the atmosphere was casual and comfortable. We had a great evening out over dinner and enjoyed the food.
Tricky to find but worth the search. High marks in every category for a reasonable price.
I really enjoyed the Tavern 101 Grill! I especially enjoy going around the holidays as they always have a nice tree and its very festive. The wait staff tends to be very attentive and kind, and the food is always excellent! My one negative is that it is a bit more expensive than I think it should be which unfortunately limits how often we're able to go... but again, we really like it. There is a parking lot that is easy to miss, so watch you for that. Enjoy!
Nice little happy hour spot. Parking is interesting but usually enough. Outdoor patio is nice even in warm or cold weather. Service is better than most and the food is good. Worth a try if you’re looking for a new spot.
My boss took us all here for a holiday lunch. Everything on the menu was delicious. The wings were spicy but not overly so (in fact, I felt like it could use a bit more heat personally). I like the variety of sauces they provide, they allow you to make the BBQ as spicy or sweet as you want. The ribs fell off the bone, they were perfect. I had a burger cooked medium rare and it came out exactly as I wanted. It was juicy and flavorful and I couldn't stop eating. I cleaned my plate, by the time I was done I had made myself sick from eating too much. I couldn't help it though! Everything was just soooooo good! If you have the chance, I highly recommend this place. Oh, they have another location too, tavern 1, so if that's more convenient I've heard the menu and food quality is basically the same.
I've gone several times and the service has always been stellar. We usually go with a large group as well. Prices are a bit higher, but they are acceptable due to the quality, average price in the area, and the service. Their happy hour definitely helps with the pricing. Parking lot is limited in the back but you can park along the street. They have a nice outdoor patio area. If you like Mac N Cheese I would highly recommend theirs. This is definitely a family friendly establishment as well.
I got the BBQ sliders and they were fantastic. We were shorted our change but other than that it was a great experience. The atmosphere was also very pleasant.
Tavern is a go to restaurant and has been for years. Always good, always tasty, always great service. The owner, Marco, is there consistently and keeps things at his high level of quality.
This place has possibly the best BBQ food in So Cal. Not only is the food outstanding but the customer service is amazing. So many people today overlook customer service that poor service has become commonplace. When I called the other night to pick up food the phone went to voicemail. One of the employees immediately called me back and apologized for missing the call and asked if he could help me. I was so impressed that I sought out the owner and told him how great his staff was at customer service.
Good Bbq sauce for the weekend with a few friends in town for dinner tonight at my place in town for the night with my friends for the night at my house i have to go out for dinner tonight and then go home for a little while so i’m gonna go out and watch a little more and watch some tv so that makes sense now lol but yeah it’s gonna take me longer than usual so hopefully it’ll work for the weekend and then i’ll have some more fun to come with me and my family lol and i don’t have a problem lol i love ❤️ with this week tho for the summer too but it’s a great place for the LET HER GO um HERSELF
A hidden gem, perfect for everything from happy hour to lunch to dinner and any type of casual get-together. Food is tasty, prices very reasonable, especially if you try out the happy hour specials. There are the usual wings and sliders and stuff, but I really loved the ahi tacos, so tasty. The staff is friendly and the decor relaxed so you can feel comfortable for anything from date night to dinner with the kids. Parking in the back lot is small and tricky if you drive a large car or SUV, so I recommend parking on the street and walking a block or two, much easier.
We had a fantastic lunch there today! The patio was gorgeous. My husband and I shared the tri tip sandwich and braised short rib sandwich- both were delicious. Great beer/wine & cocktail menu. The parking lot is a bit tight so we parked along the frontage road which was fine. Highly recommended!
Checks all the boxes. Cute, out of the way, gorgeous spot, great server, yummy food, great bar...You have to check this place out. Recreate our order if you'd like. Sit in the front outdoor seating, closest to road. 2 rocks patron margaritas Chili cheeseburger w/fries Bbq pulled pork wrap w/ mac n cheese
Even better than the great reviews this place has. It was amazing. I stopped by while visiting the area. Excellent smoked BBQ made in house. I bet it's packed at dinner. Lunch was quiet and very easy. I highly recommend Tavern 101.
Great food, great atmosphere. I didn't know what to expect, and from the outside it looked a little too secluded and strangley located to me. But when we walked in, the hubby and I decided to stay. They had live music and set everything up to be outside due to COVID. Nice lighting. The musician was good. Food was delicious. Couldn't have planned this date to be any more perfect (I didn't plan it! Total last minute idea)! The food isn't cheap, but I noticed they have a happy hour from 3-6 and they offer appetizers at steep discounts only if you also buy an alcoholic drink. So we might come back and have some good food and a cold beer. They have a good selection of beer and wine, not too many cocktails (mostly martinis). All good. One beer is good enough for me! *TIP* try the brisket tacos, they're AMAZING!!
All the food we were blessed to eat was OUTstanding!! The corn bread was excellent! The rib appetizer was tender and needed no BBQ sauce...it was "tops" on its own. The brisket sliders my wife had and the brisket sandwich I had were the BEST we've had!! My side of sautéed veggies was so buttery and primo! The staff was uber attentive even when they were busy. Marco the owner was gracious! Diana, Mia, and Grant were engaging and professional! Will certainly be back if we are in LA.
The food was good. We tried the Fish & Chips and BBQ Briskett. BBQ beans were an amazing side dish. Drinks were strong, and we enjoyed our time there.
This is our adopted neighborhood bar and we live 1000 miles away in Seattle, but Tavern 101 is our destination place to eat every time we snowbird between Seattle and Palm Springs. Fantastic food, very friendly service, fun bar atmosphere, and even love their background music.
Came from Kingman Arizona to visit my son and he suggested Tavern 101 Grill. We ate on the open patio with a few well separated customers. Masks were optional. I ordered the Baby Back Ribs, full rack which was more than I could finish, while my Wife had the Shrimp Scampi. Our son had the BBQ Brisket Sandwich....all in all a very enjoyable and scrumptious evening.
Phenomenal barbecue. Great service too. Would highly recommend
Fantastic food. My wife and I both got two different burgers and they were both amazing. Huge and messy and really tasty. The rest of the items on the menu looked great as well, and we watched as other plates went to other tables. Every plate looked really good and the portions were big. Beer selection is really good as well with about 20 to 25 different ones on tap. Well 20 if you get rid of the near beer (bud, bud light, etc....). The owner/manager was very friendly and welcoming as well. We will be back for sure.
Good atmosphere, amazing food, drinks are made well, clean and service was on point. This place checked all the boxes for me. Wonderful experience, we definitely can’t wait to come back.
The rib eye was seasoned and cooled perfect, brisket and the braised short rib were delicious as well. The service great and friendly. Highly recommend
My go to spot. Recommend the fried chicken sandwich and naked wings. Extremely good service and plenty of TVs to watch any game. Marco the owner will treat you like family. Order a Marco special for your drink if you are trying to get your swerve on.
We went to their buffet Thanksgiving this year And the salmon and prime rib and the traditional turkey buffet was incredible. The service was great. It was super to get your food, hot and sit down and eat it quick. The pies with whipped cream were excellent. I hope they do it again next Thanksgiving because I told them they hit a home run on this one.
Found this great little gem for some Sunday football. The staff were amazing and really friendly. Best part was the dog friendly patio. We got the tri-tip sandwich and the prime rib sandwich. Both were amazing. Love the choice of sides as well.
Stopped in for lunch, awesome service, amazing food, really highly recommend for a stop in! We were a little bummed they do cornbread fresh for dinner, but will just have to come back. Had our dog with us and they were friendly on the patio and brought him water
An absolute gem of a tavern with a wide selection of beer and a huge menu! Definitely try the Oatmeal Stout Braised Short Ribs, they're 🤤 delicious and come with the right sides. Special shout out to Ren, who is very friendly and an engaging conversationalist, tell him Fred says hi! 👋
Tavern 101 has both inside and out seating. We sat outside which was comfortable and nice decor. The staff was friendly and attentive. Food was very good: shrimp tacos, chicken and pork tacos and a chicken wrap. I would highly recommend coming here for a meal. They have a large menu. If you like bbq, the meals looked good.
Let me start with this, I had my best burger ever in Los Angeles 😍😍😍. Can’t emphasize enough how delicious the foods are, especially the burger. Everything was fresh, the fries, the salad, I love it. They had giant barbecue outside so you can smell the fire while biting your food. Staff are super friendly and the lady at the bar was so nice that made me a non-alcoholic refresher drink out of menu. Highly recommend for a delicious food and great ambiance
I'm not a regular in this area, but I sure felt like it. First off, I decided to sit at the bar to do some work, have a drink. Reagan was immediately there to introduce herself, let it be known and would be helping. The Tavern 101 IPA was delightful, if you're an IPA dinner. They have a decent beer selection, cocktail menu, but will serve what and how you would like. Food-wise, the pulled pork was good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (southern style with coleslaw) and a side of bbq beans. What elevates this is their sauce, wow! Just the right amount of kick and sweetness, super delicious!! Honestly, I went in as a regular Joe, left wanting to be a part of the community. Even met Dennis, an owner, and was super welcoming. I cannot undermine how awesome the experience was.
Nice spot! I was surprised I had never been there. Free delicious corn bread will keep me coming back for more! Good drinks, decent beer selection and plenty of TVs inside to watch sports like us boyz do. Food was kind of high priced on appetizers so we passed. Chicken tenders ain’t worth $12 unless you at Disneyland.
The food is very good here, and so is the wine. I had a glass of Pinot Noir, and I ordered the barbecued pulled pork, with a wonderful, moist and tasty garlic mashed potatoes, and very healthy mixed vegetables which included both green and yellow zucchini. The pork was great, and the serving was big enough that I have some to take home. The service was fine, even though the servers were very busy since the place was crowded! I recommend it highly.
Three of us had a delicious lunch. Diana, our waitress, was excellent and attentive without hovering.
So many good things to say about this place. Atmosphere is comfortable, service is friendly, draft beer selection has something for everyone and the brisket was sublime. There is an outdoor patio area with heat lamps. One table even has small firepit. 4 stars instead if 5 because the dressing on the beet salad was watery and flavorless. Other than that I'd highly recommend this place. Also, has easy parking.
Always consistently good food. The prices are a bit on the high side for lunches, but everything grilled or BBQ'd is cooked exactly how you'd expect: perfectly to order. Their selection of beers on tap is very good too.
It was only my second time there but everybody was very kind and nice
I like this place a lot and I’ve been here a few times. I’m happy to say that their ribs really do hold up! I’m originally from Nashville, so we really like high quality BBQ. The ribs were so good, I had them the second time I went. I also like the Moscow mule. The only gripe I have is that it’s hard to find the entrance alley from the street. I think they should have a big sign or something because you won’t catch it on first glance.
Have eaten here several times Nd the food is always good. Today one order came out wrong. They were also oit of four different IPAs and Tanquery gin. Hopefully the liquor delivery is today.
They play great music and I love their ribs. They are not like regular pork ribs and have a bit more of a ham type taste to them. Very unique and well worth the visit. The staff is very nice too and there's all sorts of sports to watch.
Looks better inside than outside. Parking can be tough. And the door is hard to find. But once inside, the serve is amazing and the food is good. The selection of micro brews is impressive. They have a large patio with a large mature Holly Oak Tree hanging over. Good ambiance. The inside dinning is a bit tight. But it works.
I kept seeing this place every time I passed by on the 101 and finally one day we actually went and ate. Boy am I glad we did. The space itself is nice, plenty of parking in the back, and the food was top notch. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, the pork was so tender and juicy, the mashed potatoes were perfectly garlicy, I wanted seconds but the portions we're so large it just wasn't even possible. Will definitely be back to try more!
I always had a good time at 1:01.The staff are all very pleasant, helpful and right there. When you need them. I was there for breakfast to watch a football game. They're only open for breakfast during football season as I recall. My breakfast was delicious. I had ham and cheese omelet and nice crispy home fries..
Reason for visiting: happy hour Date/time of visit: Friday night around 5:00 PM Pacific Parking: in the lot behind the grill or on th street Party size: 3 Environment/ambience: was empty at first but started filling up with as time went on. Mixed crowd, some kids, couples, guys hanging out. TVs in a few places so good place to watch the game. No TVs outside in the patio. They have live music; you need to be outside to hear it. The women bartenders are pretty hot, some of the patrons were too Service: was great. Came around often and really friendly, always smiling. Seems like a fun place to work Food: was good. The wings, dry were good. Ordered an old fashioned and it was good. We ordered the street tacos from the menu but they offered to make us street tacos, the original, real way (not a menu item) and it was pretty good. The baby back ribs were good too, really good portion. Crab cake was a little plain and sauce a little salty. For dessert had the chocolate lava cake and it was pretty good too. Cost: came for happy hour and it was a little more expensive than other places but that was expected since we're in Calabasas
I ordered some food to go and as it was coming out we had decided to eat in instead because I wanted ro order another thing for my girlfriend to go. The last serving me got a little annoyed sans aid if we were just gonna eat in we should've said so beforehand. It was a little rude tbh. Who cares if I eat in the place or not. I ended up putting in another order for the brisket sandwich for around $25 and I left with the remainder of my food I opened the brisket box and the sandwich was tiny and had only a little bit of meat. I was shocked to spend $25 for tiny little sandwich. However it was very delicious but not enough food at all for the price. Ended up paying $120 for my food and felt hungry and hour later. Was disappointing
Came here late afternoon, and it's definitely not worth coming here just for the food. The ambience is fine, the service is okay, the food was mediocre. The food does look good, but the taste just wasted there. Most bar-style places have the same problem, the food is always at the end of their priority. We ordered a cheese burger with fries, and the full rack of ribs. Both dishes were simply ok, the BBQ sauces were fine too. Nothing special, nothing worth eating again or recommending.
Eh. I won't be back. I got the happy hour chicken wings. They're the discounted version of the regular chicken wings (12.95 vs. 16.95). There were....5...wings.... It was surprising enough I asked the bartender. She said "well, they do it by weight." Which doesn't matter. But I realized there was no wisdom in pushing this. So I thought "I need to order more food." But neither of the 2 bartenders would make eye contact with me for the next 20 minutes. So bad service....oddly small portions... In their favor, though, the food was really good. There wasn't much of it, but it was tasty! But when there are a lot of alternatives nearby...Hope this helps!
Hey I’m continuing my negativity tour… sorry! Today is Wednesday the bar is half full at 5PM when I leave at 5:45 one person left and you’ll read why. Bartenders? Yeah they are around when they come back from whatever they’re doing and might say hi! The bar help…. Well they are there and don’t converse unless they seem to know you. 2nd time in two weeks! Lame! That’s ok, wasn’t expecting Cheers or anything.. the Nacho’s with Brisket are not to dream for! Stale and soggy corn chips. They give you two plates because one is super hot like it’s been in the oven? I’m guessing they are pre made early in the morning? As a business owner especially in these difficult times I’m wasting my time letting you know that I’m not coming back for this lack of experience! Not sure you understand what I’m saying but it’s up to the owners to figure it out. I can have more fun hanging at my house in front of my TV and talking to it! Place has always been a fun place with great BBQ in the past! Hope you don’t fall by the waste side like so many others. Cheers!
The three stars are for the great server we had tonight -great service and for the quality of the food. Unfortunately, for us the food fell short on flavor and presentation. We had the king salmon dinner, the brisket sandwich and the pulled pork dinner. The meats and fish were good quality and cooked fine but flavor wise bland and not seasoned enough for us. The sides were below average too.
Came for the ribs. Very meaty but very dry. Dissapoited. Staff and cocktails were awesome. Three sauces to choose from didn't really find one I liked. Mac n cheese corn bread fries all good. Tri tip sandwich was good. Didnt like the beans heavy on the 🍅. I really wanted to like this place. Maybe ill try again. If I wasn't so hungry I would have sent my ribs back and waited for a second try.
To describe this place in a word… mediocre. The “award winning” baby back ribs were dry and flavorless. The beer was stale and old. Nothing special on tap, all commercial brewery stuff probably AB owned. They have some nerve calling this place a tap house. Everything thing was below average and the prices are very high for what you get. The service was good though. Doubt I will ever go back.
The food is great, but the waitress was horrible. From when we sat down, she was in a hurry up and order. It felt like she was so busy, but the place was close to empty. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day, but clearly, it is not the way to treat your customers. I feel for the owner if people are being pushed to order and cut off before your done placing an order.
Parking is Okay. Since new owners took over, quality has decreased while prices have doubled. No old staff remains. We haven't been back since new management. From a twice a month outing with extended family to never again. Quite a turn around.
‼️This is an unusual review‼️ We had dinner at this restaurant-The food was very good and the atmosphere was fun... SO WHY ONLY 2 STARS? Well... When we got our check it was $35 dollars OVER what we expected!! My husband questioned the prices on the bill and showed the waitress the prices stated on the menu... She said, "Oh. We changed our prices and we don't have the new menus yet." That's not cool! It wasn't just a dollar or two... But $35 more... And the wrong prices posted. She never said sorry and she didn't offer to take off off the "over-charge". I think this was poor on their part... And... frankly... disrespectful to us. We would have been happy to pay the prices on the new menu if we had seen them... But not when it felt like a bait and switch. It's the principle.
I have NEVER come across a manager who was so rude, unprofessional, impatient and disrespectful. My mother lost her wallet and I was calling to see if it had been found since my mom went there herself to inquire. Sometimes things are found later on...in the parking lot, in the gaps between cushions, etc. This women, "manager", who could not be bothered by me, refused to repeat her name ( I was so upset that her name slipped my mind) and HUNG UP ON ME! How disgraceful that an establishment that has been around for so many years would have such awful representation. Shame on you "manager" for making something that is so serious for my mom (everything was in that wallet) something not worth you time. I hope that no one else ever has to be disregarded the way that I was this evening. I will never spend a single penny there again and I will be sure to share my experience with every single person that I know.
Nothing special, really thought that it might be good based on the reviews but honestly t.g.i.f. is a bit better service, save your money folks and go somewhere where the service will make you feel special and not rushed.
Went with a friend, we both ordered different things, and both ended up with food poisoning. It was pretty good food and great service plus football was on which I love. But I give it one star because they either store their meat wrong or don't clean well enough. It was a long night needless to say.
I came here to and I had a gift certificate, I called on the phone. When I came the blonde lady with semi curly hair. She didn’t welcome me or anything she just said the total then she didn’t hand me my food she placed it on the table. After that I was waiting for my change and receipt and he’s like can I help you and I said yes my receipt and change even though my change was two cents still my money. What bothered me is that she the elderly Caucasian couple that came in with more respect. I didn’t understand what her problem was. And the food was very bland no seasoning or anything unseasoned food. If it wasn’t semi free from the gift certificate I would never eat here. People who judge you how you look. Bad service = Bad food
I had drinks here, there was no alcohol in my drink. For $16 a cocktail, it was just ginger beer, very disappointing. The food is 50-50, wings and fish taco were great, there was hot links which was hotdogs in hot sauce, who serves hot dogs as an appetizer. Would not recommend it.
Not a bad burger joint…do not go here for bbq they do not know what that is! Brisket was absolutely a crime against bbq seems like they boil it to get to meat soft. It had no flavor which is why they try and coat it in sauce before serving it to you. They clearly cut and trim it to just what’s edible left. Poor brisket I feel bad for the cow.
