I absolutely love matcha and creme brulee and they had both of them so I was a happy camper. I am a bit picky about my creme. Brulee and I was served it warm, and I prefer it cold, and my waiter had no problem getting me a new one that's cold. I was with a friend and we stayed awhile and enjoyed ourself. I was able to finish a crochet project and I will definitely go back again even by myself.Just for a creme brulee.
Amazing bakery with delicious late night treats! Super busy so prepare for a wait time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Good selection of hot and cold drinks to go with your fresh dessert. Stopped in around 11ish on a weekday and the dining was full! Highly recommend this place.
The chocolate mousse cake was delectable in every bite—decadent and perfectly sweet. The Mississippi mud pie was absolutely amazing. While the blueberry muffin was quite average, ordering online was quick and easy, and the pick-up process was smooth. I do wish the place wasn’t always so crowded, but we’ll keep trying for a table. Overall, 9/10—highly recommended.
Pastry and service are exceptional. We waited longer because there were a lot of customers, but we can’t blame Martha’s for that. The pecan pie was sinful and perfect with my espresso. So was the strawberry shortcake, creme brulee, tiramisu and red velvet. The desserts at Martha’s are just decadent.
Very nice cakes went here in the past i love it so much I highly recommend going here for a classic German and European breakfast
I want to thank the staff especially Amy for all their help. I had to order a cake last minute due to an emergency and not only did Amy patiently help me navigate the order process she was also kind enough to help me with the design. When I picked up there were some minute changes to be made and the staff was very pleasant, helpful and quick! The cake turned out excellent and everyone loved it especially my mom. I ordered a 10 inch caramel mousse cake. I will definitely be returning for some of the other desserts that caught my eye!
Have to say, this place is worth the wait it usually has. The pastries are amazing and attract so many different people and as well, they are detailed and visually appealing creating a big picture crowd. I have been coming here for years and can recommend the strawberry crème brûlée with Nutella, 7 layer chocolate cake, the cupcakes, gelato scoops of raspberry or mango, the marble cheesecake and one of my seasonal favorites the pumpkin pie!
This place has so many deserts to choose from. The line was a lil long as it is lil inside but we did get a seat and we had a nice time. It is very busy in there. The deserts were so good and the portion sizes are huge I had to take my cake home it was just too big to eat at one time. I definitely would go here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nuce place to have deserts and coffee
Large assorted varieties of freshly made cakes, cookies and other assorted items. Prices are $7.95 and up for a slice of cake. Cake prices start @ $45. and up. Very rich flavorful cakes. I love the triple chocolate mousse cake, it's heaven. Good time to go is during the weekdays early hours for cake pick up. Open till 10:00 pm. They do have seating but it's very limited. Great place to go after a date night movie or to get a bite for pick and go. They sell large assortment of delicious fresh always cakes, cheesecakes, large cookies, mini tarts, pastries and assorted beverages (coffee/tea).
This is one of the nicest bakeries in the area. Their cakes are amazing. Have tried many different kinds over the years. They have cute little tables too. Service can be hit or miss depending on the day but nothing bad. Adding bunch of photos for the people to see and have idea what they have.
The shop has a lovely, inviting environment that makes it a perfect spot to relax. The cakes are absolutely delicious, and the coffee is fantastic. The staff is friendly and attentive. Here is a nice place for anyone looking for a delightful place to enjoy some wonderful treats and a great cup of coffee.
The Forest Hills location of the Martha's Country Bakery chain is located at a busy intersection in the heart of the Forest Hills restaurant area. With a smaller storefront, it's something easily missed while driving. We really like visiting this location after dinner for some well-made dessert. One of the most popular items on their menu is the berry napoleon cake. It's a must try if you've never had one before. Otherwise, it's a busy bakery with excellent cakes and cookies. This location is smaller than the Astoria location, but the wait for a table is usually not too bad.
Can't thank them enough !!! They made my day Cake was too delicious and the service was outstanding !! Though Marthas Country Bakery has always been my first Choice for ordering cake specially from the Austin St branch. They are very very cooperative and helpful. Thanks guys for making our every precious moment extraordinary!!! Thanks !
I love coming to Martha's Country bakery. The have the next selection of desserts in NYC in my opinion. Their cheesecake is to die for. The customer service has always been fantastic. The place can get extremely busy at night. So you might have to prepare for that. It's a great place to sit down and enjoy coffee and sweets with close friends and loved ones. Highly recommend
My favorite bakery in Queens! My go-to dessert would be the Napoleon Very Berry cake always❤️ My son's favorite cappuccino cupcake was unavailable at the time and so was the red velvet hot chocolate. That's a bit of a bummer. But they have so many other delicious options that you'd still leave with satisfaction❤️ Update: We got the cappuccino cupcake and red velvet hot chocolate🥰
I’m absolutely in love with this dessert cafe. They have a large variety of cakes, pies, cookies and macaroons which would entice anyone with a sweet tooth. My favorite is the chocolate mouse. If you plan on visiting the queues can get a bit long into the afternoon hours so bring your patience .
Dessert always delicious and puts a smile on my face. This location is very popular so be ready for an extended waits to get the items you want. The stuff if more attentive in person then over the phone. You can try different location (they have 3), it can be not as busy as that one. My favorite is the berry napoleon, highly recommend to try it. The slices are very generous.
I recently visited Martha's Country Bakery, and it was an incredible culinary experience! The store is located at 70-28 Austin St, Queens, NY 11375, and it's open until midnight, which is very convenient for evening visits. The first thing that catches your eye is the vast selection of beautiful and appetizing cakes and pastries that you immediately want to try. The assortment includes both classic and modern desserts that look like works of art. The baked goods here are truly top-notch! The cake I tried was incredibly fresh and delicious, with perfectly balanced cream and moist layers. The aroma and taste of each bite were simply delightful, and you can tell that high-quality ingredients were used. In addition to cakes, you can also find a variety of pastries, pies, cookies, and other sweets here. I was particularly impressed by the selection of gelato, which was a perfect complement to a cup of aromatic espresso. I also want to highlight the atmosphere in the bakery. It's very cozy and warm, making you feel right at home. The staff is friendly and always ready to help with your choice, which makes the visit even more pleasant. Martha's Country Bakery is a place you want to return to again and again. Here, everyone will find something to their liking and leave satisfied. I highly recommend this wonderful bakery to all dessert lovers and pastry enthusiasts!
One of my go to spots for desert. You can never go wrong with Martha’s! Amazing apple pie and the portion size is like whoa! The Oreo cheese cake is amazing. The red velvet cake is good…more than good. The desert selection is huuuuge! The servers are always smiling and helpful. The spot was clean and neat even though it was busy. Don’t hesitate to go and try it’s worth it.
This place was highly recommended by several people. It did not disappoint. I had apple pie a la mode. The filling was fantastic. The apples were sliced thin and were perfectly spiced with cinnamon. It was not too sweet, making it perfect. The crust was flaky and delicious. I got some cookies to go, and they were amazing.
Martha’s, oh how I love you! My sister lives in Forrest hills so I’d go with her to come here many times growing up. I remember thinking they had the best strawberry shortcake ever back then. I went back for the first time in years today and was not disappointed. All of their cakes are delicious and I think it’s the perfect spot for a quick catch up with a friend.
I have tried Martha’s before thru other people who brought cakes from there (always delicious) but this time I got to check it out in person. Stopped there for dessert after lunch. Great service, well organized place….you can get food to go or see the hostess to be seated. The 4 people in our group each got a dessert and we all enjoyed them! I think the mini passion fruit mousse cake that I tried is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted…not overpoweringly sweet but sweet enough, a little tart, light and small enough….it was exceptional! Their berry napoleon was also delicious. So many things to try, can’t wait to return next time I am in the area! Very reasonable prices considering today’s economy!!
Love to come here! I’ve been to other Martha’s bakeries in the city, this one is the closest to me. Always a great place to stop for dessert especially with good restaurants around the area. The cheesecake is always so decadent and delicious every time! It’s usually really busy so if you want a table to sit down, best to plan before hand. If you’re getting to go, the line might be long but it moves quickly so don’t be discouraged by that. Definitely must try their Oreo cheesecake as that’s my favorite but went with something different by getting the strawberry shortcake and the flan cheesecake and they did not disappoint!
Martha’s Country Bakery is hands-down one of my favorite spots in all of New York City. I’ve been a loyal customer for eight years and have visited multiple locations—and they never disappoint! Their carrot cake is truly unmatched: moist, flavorful, and generously frosted. I also adore their linzer tarts, although I have to admit the ones at this location aren’t quite as good as the Williamsburg branch—the texture here is a bit too thick for my taste. Still, the service is always warm and friendly, and the quality of most baked goods is consistently excellent. Definitely worth a visit if you’ve got a sweet tooth!
Nice place for take out pastries and coffee or sit down. So many options will have you coming back for more. We decided to have a sit down bite with the little one and found the location to be very cozy. The seating is nicely spaced so it’s ideal for any occasion. There are plenty of places to park on the street at least the time we had gone around noon.
Martha’s Country Bakery never disappoints. The dessert selection is incredible—everything is fresh, beautifully made, and rich without being overwhelming. From the cakes to the pastries, the quality is consistently high. Service was efficient despite how busy it gets, and the atmosphere is classic and inviting. This is a go-to spot for desserts and special treats, and absolutely worth the visit.
Number one choice in NYC if you want dessert everything I tried is so good. The best thing for me is very berry Napoleon it’s like Martha’s signature cake, but all other cakes / menu are so delicious too tables are a bit close from each other but still ok. All the menu items are great, I went there many times also chocolate layer and the tart is amazing. Service is so good and very fast, sometimes they are so busy specially in the weekends so there will be waiting but they’re fast
I had such a wonderful experience at Martha’s Bakery! The waiter who helped me had the brightest smile and made me feel so welcome. She recommended the Oreo cheesecake, and it was absolutely delicious—rich, creamy, and one of the best I’ve ever had. She even checked in to make sure I was okay, which made the visit feel so warm and personal. The staff here are all so kind, and the overall atmosphere is just as sweet as their desserts. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Came in for take out. Staff worms efficient. Greeted, asked if I was here for pickup of takeout. Directed to the line. Waiting and one of the many staff members assisted me with my order. I had the pleasure of having Selena assist me with my purchase of an Apple crumble pie. Selena was almost as sweet as the pie was! Thank you!! And don’t forget to tip these workers they work extremely hard in a fast paced setting to get everyone’s orders packed and served up! Thanks again.
• Everything here is so good—you really can’t go wrong with any of their pastries or cake slices! • We tried the carrot cake, very berry Napoleon, and apple crumble pie. All were rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious with excellent flavors. • Despite the busy evening, we were able to order and receive our items quickly. • Staff were kind and accommodating. • Cozy, clean interiors. Will definitely be back to try more desserts!

Seats are really close to one another. Although is was very busy, the service was fast and friendly. Desserts are good. Bathroom could be cleaned.
The customer service was.good here. They brought me the wrong order but I allowed it because it looked good anyway. The coffee was just ok and the size was kinda small as I love coffee by the bucket. Overall, I would go here for dessert again. It was a.good experience.
I've been coming to this spot for many years, and sometimes it's a 5* experience and sometimes it's a 3*. Overall the variety of goodies is large, from cakes and pies to cookies and tarts, to beverages and Gelato. Some of the offerings are tastier (subjectively) than others. For example, a peach tart I had today was almost inedible for me because of the cloying sweetness, while the napoleon was perfect, and the rainbow cookies were merely OK. Sometimes the inside is a huge cluster-F too, so be prepared. Overall a solid bakery that I find myself coming back to time and again.
I’m just writing this review because people have the right to be aware of what to expect when ordering/ viewing desserts online. I placed an order of a strawberry short cake EXPECTING to receive the one that’s viewed on the official website and instead I receive a completely different looking cake. This is completely false advertisement and if this is the case, it should’ve been mentioned to me over the phone when I placed this order with the staff. I think the pictures can speak for itself here.
We recently visited Martha's Country Bakery to pick up a red velvet cake for my wife's birthday, and it was hands down the best red velvet I've had in a long time! Moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness—everyone at the party loved it. While we were there, my son and I also grabbed some cupcakes. He chose the carrot cake, and I went for the strawberry. Both cupcakes were delicious, but my son was a little disappointed because the frosting on his carrot cake cupcake fell off a bit. Despite that, he still enjoyed the taste, and my strawberry cupcake was spot on. The bakery has a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the staff is friendly. The only downside was that the service could be a bit quicker, and they might want to ensure the cupcakes are a bit sturdier for those with a lot of frosting. But overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend stopping by, especially for the cakes!
This is one of my wife favorite bakery. Mine isn't. Although it is small, it's nice to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. I haven't seen this place empty. The contrary, it is almost packed. There are usually big lines to take out and to get a table. The tables are small and each of them are very close to each other. I think that in places very small like this one, try to fit as many people as possible that you are a few inches apart from other customers. Due to that you can't have a private conversation, even if you try to whisper. In my opinion, the cake slices are big enough to share because of one person can be a lot.
I'm not a huge fan of pie but THIS is good pie. I ordered cherry, and it was warm, tart and delicious. Paired wonderfully with my cappuccino, which had a good stiff foam. My only gripe is that some of the prices are a little hefty, for example - $10 for a piece of pie. However, the pie is lovely and they have a great spread of cakes and other desserts.
Everything from the bakery is amazing. I love going here all the time, but I will say when it comes to drinks they’re not the best. I usually just keep it to a hot chocolate. I would recommend the apple crumb or the sour apple pie are amazing. I usually get it with ice cream or gelato. It’s a really great combination service was good but I will say sometimes they take a while even when it’s not busy but I love coming here. I even get my birthday cakes from them.
Went to get a chocolate layer cake for a work event and the cake was good like really good. Just wish the customer service was a lot better!! Such a shame... And I say that because I used my card to pay and check out and I was asked if I wanted a receipt which I replied "yrs, please" and the receipt was just thrown on the counter and wasn't handed to me like I handed him my card to pay and I'm big on do unto others what you would like done to or for you and that gesture of not handing a paying customer items on their hand is just RUDE AND LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE to say the least, I'll go back but I will make sure not to get back to the guy that serviced me, I won't forget his face !
Nothing compares to Martha’s Country bakery, keep coming back here for all their sweets. Love their red velvet cake and all cheesecakes, all to die for. Staffs are friendly, clean , but always jam packed , sometimes you hardly can get a seat. There are take outs though if you can’t get a seat. It’s always worth a visit every time you’re in Forest Hills, Queens.
Great variety of desserts! I’ve tried about 10 different kinds so far, and I’d recommend 7 of them, so overall, not bad at all. It can get quite busy at night, especially on weekends, but the service remains fast and efficient. The portions are huge, and if you’re a dessert lover, this place is definitely worth trying.
Love the ice cream not a big fan on the tarts though. I kinda dislike the calm and eerie background music and for background music, it is certainly loud. The inside looks nice ( beware clean freaks, there is little pieces of trash on the floors. )The tables are a bit too small for 2 people (fits like two water cups, two plates and two gelatos stacked on top of napkins)
While waiting for my friends to order from another restaurant at the Forest Hills location, I peeked into Mather’s Bakery and the desserts in the window instantly drew me in. The line was long but moved quickly, and the Berry Napolitano, Carrot, and Oreo Mousse cakes we tried were all delicious. I later ordered a large Carrot Cake and a tray of cookies for Thanksgiving, and my family loved both. Parking is tough in this area, but the bakery is absolutely worth it. My new favorite spot! 😋😋.
Huge selection , understaffed on weekends and nights pastries are always fresh and top tier but sometimes the wait is so long makes you think twice

Got a pistachio macaroon which was very hard and tasted stale. Strawberry macaroon was better. Chocolate chunk cookies were ok once I brought them home and warmed them. Brownie was flavorless. The bakery was very crowded and more expensive than it was worth.
The last few times I’ve been here, the service is slow and the workers are just not proactive. Maybe inexperience or lack of training but I’ll be avoiding Martha’s until after the holidays. The last time I went, I tried to bypass this by placing a pickup order on their site so that I could be in and out more quickly since I knew I’d have to double park. The store was surprisingly empty but after informing the clerk that I was picking up an order which was ready, I was left standing there waiting while other customers who came in after me were attended. After almost ten minutes, I was finally handed my order by another clerk but held up further because she wanted me to “verify” that I picked up my order on my phone somehow. I scrolled through my confirmation, didn’t find anything, showed her my phone and told her to feel free to scroll to verify as needed, but she couldn’t figure it out either. Finally she called over the hostess and asked if she could help me bc I didn’t know how to verify the pickup…like I’m the one who works there? Hostess just looked at my confirmation email and said I’m all set. They informed me that the hostess normally handles pickups, that’s why the clerk wasn’t sure. I told them that no one was standing there when I walked in and if that was the case, the first guy whom I told about my pickup should’ve instructed me to wait for the hostess rather than attend three new customers and watch me stand there waiting.
Read great reviews and decided to give it a try. The place was packed on a late Saturday afternoon which is usually a good sign. Pastry offerings and cakes were abundant. The line for the orders to go was a bit long but they were moving. We ordered the Strawberry Shortcake since it had rave reviews. The cake was was a little disappointing for 42.00. It was very dry for our taste.
The cakes are dry. Pies are just ok. Black & white cookie was so dry I couldn’t eat it without soaking it in something. The only reason I keep coming back is because their Nutella hot chocolate is amazing.
I’ve heard great reviews of Martha’s but I guess it’s a regional thing. I found that while the portions are very big, the flavors are just not there. I’ve tried many different desserts they offer and at different locations but it always tasted like refrigerator and lacked the flavor of what was listed. Flan, rice pudding, banana pudding, cheese cakes, cookies, carrot cake, cupcakes, pies and even their drinks. Always very lacking. I also find that when dining in at this location, it takes a while to get service. I wanted to like it and tried it multiple times to hopefully find something I like but unfortunately not worth it and not great. If you just need a dish to bring to a celebration, I guess it’s an okay option. But if you’re going for personal enjoyment, I think you’re better off going to Paris baguette or some other chain if not a real bakery. Also the name is very misleading since the only country thing about the bakery is the size and look of the items. Again, the taste is just not there. Coming from someone that lived in Georgia
Pickup service is not for the weary. For two slices of pie, I waited an hour. I really had no other place to go so I just waited. When I ordered, it said 15-20\nminute wait. Also it seems other…
Everything I ordered tasted bad, it only looked cute. Strawberry shortcake, I got a whole cake and it was somehow dry cake inside. Macarons had no flavor. Cookies taste had no sugar or flavor, all flour, and even the chocolate tasted cheap. Banana walnut bread was just okay, very little banana flavor. Expensive. Long line, and very slow service when I ordered. Staff were very particular about where I stood while waiting on my order, asking me to move to the front and wait in a cramped area instead of by the case watching my order fulfilled. I don't understand how this place is popular.
Last night I ordered a “strawberry Nutella creme brûlée”… and I got a cake with giant pieces of strawberry and nutella on top. The box was dripping like crazy with God knows what. I thought it was going to be more interesting than literally slapping stawberries and nutella on top, so that was already a let down… but presentation, mess, and taste took it to another level of disappointment. Giving 2 stars because I’ve had better things. Y’all need to rethink this one. 😅

On my last 3 visits the cake was not fresh. They were dry and stale. Due to crowd rush, staff annoyingly rushes you to select your order just to get it wrong on occasion. I use to love Martha’s but it seems that the priority is to push out quantity over quality now and days…..HIGHLY OVERRATTED!
I purchased a cake to surprise my in-laws for their anniversary. I told the server to put happy anniversary, and they wrote univesity on it. However, they spelled the term "university" erroneously. I called the store, and they refused to give me a refund unless I returned the cake at 12 a.m. without cutting it, destroying my surprise completely. I spoke with a manager named Nico (I'm not sure if this is their real name), who told me that they would offer me with a replacement cake but would not issue a refund unless I returned the original cake. This is intolerable.
After waiting long line, So upset they ran out of my favorite very berry napoleon so I bought plain instead. Tasted like were done yesterday and took out from fridge, not flaky no crusty no creamy. Fruit pie not fresh. The only aceptable was the flan. Martha Should have more quality control please! Do not loose customers…
I have been a customer here for years. This evening I had a terrible experience because of Maurice. I was second on line behind the person paying for their order but Maurice looked right past me, ignoring me several times asking to help the next person. His attitude only got worse when he realized he would have to help me despite his apparent dislike for people who look like I do. This was the only place anywhere in Forest Hills where I've been treated with such disrespect. Maurice ignored me again so I asked for a manager but I didn't feel that this business cared about customer service. And no, it was not busy when I arrived. I spent over $100 but I would not recommend this place because of Maurice. I spoke to the manager, Maria, but she wasn't equipped to address this situation. Nick Z. and George need to do better with managing their personnel.
There was someone's freakin nail in the napolean!!!! And my kids ate this shit. This place is disgusting. How the hell did a piece of someone's nail end up in the cake??? Im never ordering from this location again. 🤮🤮🤮 Called to complain about the fingernail in the cake and no one really cares. Disgusting !!! If you guys like to eat hidden pieces of crap in your cake then continue to eat from this place.
I’ve been coming to this very location since I was a kid (over 20 years). Desserts and service are usually amazing. This particular day however, my server was extremely impolite. He took my order but had an attitude while doing so. I was sat for over an hour and a half, he did not check on me once. I was never even offered water, as all the tables surrounding me had water as soon as being seated. As soon as I tapped my card to pay, the server SNATCHED the handheld and walked away without even as much as a “good night.” The entire experience was off putting.
For Christmas, I bought pastries and cakes for $153, all of them were old, and two muffins were dry and stale. When I called, the manager told me that everything is baked fresh, which is a lie and deceives people. I just wanted fresh, good pastries and cakes for almost $160!!!!!! It wouldn't hurt to send an inspector.
The worst place ever been and traited like I was a lmfull, I got a cake for 56 box and the following week the cashier and the manger try to full me by trying to sell me the same cake way smaller for that he same rate, I had tried to explain is not the size that I paid for and both were denied me right there like I am the crazy one, again I will not advice no one to be lied and miss traits for a cake, so bad place to go at.Realy guys thus ppls take advantages of you by faking they checks and and racking the register with taxes. % So unfair to be overcharged
The atmosphere is great especially for the holidays now but unfortunately the service is bad! They don’t have a sytem where they take costumers based on who came first but rather whoever they pick behind the counter. I had to literally wait and beg the hostes to get someone to take our order because they wouldn’t see who ordered first or whos next. I was trying to get someones attention but no luck, they were moving up and down behind the counter. Sucks to experience this for such a nice place
Staff behind the display/ register are incredibly slow. Even when the line is out the door, they barely move. There’s absolutely no urgency in their movements or apologies even if you’ve waited for 20+ mins. It’s in Austin st which obviously is a very busy location. The staff needs to be trained better.
I am SO disappointed and infuriated with the lack of attention to my order. I ordered a cake for my birthday and the cake decoration was horrid. You can see the uneven lines of frosting on the cake, the writing wasn’t even centered in the middle of the cake and ON TOP of that, I payed $100 for a cake that looked NOTHING like the reference picture I sent. The cake was sloppy as hell!!! I wanted a rosette ombré cake and they said that they were unable to do it even though they have done it before (rosette cake pic attached below). The quality of Martha’s has gone down drastically and it’s extremely disappointing that I will not be ordering again from here.
The worst Martha’s place- our coffee was spilled, and without taste, and the lava cake looked more like a pancake than a real lava cake. The waitress was impolite. We love Matrha’s Bakary, but this one in Forest Hills is the worst. Avoid it if you can.
⭐☆☆☆☆ Disappointed with the service experience I visited the Martha Forest Hill branch today with my family for dinner. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the service we received. While the staff were checking in on other tables, no one came to our table for a long time. I had to ask a waiter just for water, and even then, he seemed annoyed and brought only one glass instead of four. Later, when I asked the same waiter for takeout boxes for our leftovers, he kept asking how many I wanted without first letting me know what sizes were available. When I tried to clarify, he seemed irritated and unhelpful. The food was actually very good, but the lack of basic courtesy and attention from the staff—especially from this one waiter—really affected our overall experience. I couldn’t help but wonder if we were being treated differently because we are Asian, which was upsetting. I hope the management looks into this and trains the staff to treat all guests with equal respect and professionalism.
