Opiniones de 677 Prime Albany
Best Steakhouse in the Capitol District. Service is top shelf. Food is consistently good. Wine selection is superb. Very pricey, but really top shelf. Fois Gras was best we've had in a very long time, anywhere. Hanging Tomahawk steak (carved tableside) was cooked and seasoned perfectly - portion could have fed 3 easily. Creamed Spinach never disappoints, but Cauliflower Steak was dry and oddly seasoned. (When our served inquired about the uneaten cauliflower, we told her our candid opinion and she took it off the bill, which was classy). Coconut Custard Pie and Big Chocolate Cake are both substantial and delicious. Great place for special occasions or if you just want to be treated the way you've longed for since before Covid. 😉
My husband and I dined at 677 Prime for my 30th birthday. The service was spectacular. Our server was incredibly attentive, and knowledgable about the food and drinks on the menu. We started with the bacon steak, which was delicious, and I ordered the premium petite filet (cooked perfectly medium as I requested), scallops, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower gratin. The scallops were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the wagyu cap steak, which he really enjoyed, except he felt that it was a touch too charred. Overall, it was the perfect dining experience.
This is a first class restaurant. The food and service are excellent. This is definitely a place where you want to to go to impress someone. I loved the food and it would be hard to find a nicer place in Albany
It was more than I expected. Layla was an amazing server. Best of the best - but everyone seemed happy to be there which led to a great environment. Food was insanely good. A lot of “ bests” - best oysters- bear bread- best steak- best seared tuna - BEST crème brûlée! High end vibe but in a comfortable environment. Stayed longer than I ever did in a restaurant before and didn’t feel rushed. Highly recommend.
Had a great experience here with my wife. Firstly, the service is absolutely incredible. They moved us to a bigger table when they noticed we wanted to sit next to each other. They also knew the menu in and out, and were helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is clean and nice. I would recommend picking the food carefully, given it is on the pricier side. We got a lot of different items and some were beyond expectations, and others were fine but I would make some adjustments. The enhanced bread is a must. This is one of the best dishes I've ever had anywhere, I'm serious. The flavors of the dips are unique and the pesto butter is absolutely delicious. The bread itself has such a nice texture and tastes amazing. Calamari was alright, could've been crispier, but the peppers it came with were great. I got an A5 wagyu steak and my wife got a hanger steak. The A5 wagyu was delicious but given it's A5 it was very pricey. I think if you get a hanger steak with a companion butter, it'll get the job done as both the truffle butter and the bacon butter were pretty good. The garlic and steak sauce that came with the steaks also enhanced the experience. I would also recommend taking a look at the vegetarian/vegan menu even if you're not that. There are some unique entrees on there and the sweet potato napoleon was actually one of the best things we got, with carefully prepared vegetables and unique flavors. This place does have valet, but we probably would've preferred to park ourselves, given the cost and also we got skipped on line a few times while waiting (though they might've been understaffed). Overall, a good experience but I would pick the food items carefully and use images online to make your decisions.
I don't normally write reviews but 677 and their staff deserve a round of applause for the service we received last night. I believe our servers name was Layla, and she was beyond wonderful. Such a bright and easygoing personality and clearly knew her stuff. (Layla if you're ever thinking about changing careers Globe Life would welcome you =]). We were a group of 8 that turned into a group of 10 and were celebrating the opening of a new business with the staff. We sat in the loft since we had a videographer present to record content and didn't want to disturb dinner service. Our videographer's transportation was delayed multiple times which meant we had to stay later than expected in order to get the footage and the staff were so incredibly accommodating to all the changes. I've worked in the industry and know how annoying it can be when your last table of the night won't leave. This was not the vibe at all last night though, on a Wednesday no less. The food was amazing, drink recommendations were great, any mistakes with either were quickly corrected. I can't say enough how grateful l am for the staff at 677 making what would have otherwise been a train wreck of an evening into nothing but smooth sailing.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last night. The food, ambience, and rich flavors are all 5 star. We enjoyed some champagne and a card that they wrote wishing us happy anniversary. Thank you for helping us feel special! Jon was a great waiter as well. Definitely reccomend!
677 Prime! The hype was real! I wouldn't say it's a culinary Fufu experience. Rather a delicious hardy Steakhouse with fine attention to detail. Don't play games being a cheap Charlie here, just ball out and enjoy the ride. Server can be a bit over friendly, always trying to connect with their guest. I know that's what the industry forces them todo with those fancy pants guidelines. My little fat cousin eddy cried when the meal was over, because he knew his cheap skate nature would never allow him to drop the coin himself, to come ball out here again.
Came here to say for a work event our server was Matt he was the best would come back if I can have him again
We can’t get over how amazing our wedding dinner was! The food, atmosphere, service and drinks were 10/10. The filet was perfect. The guests LOVED the cheesecake. Everyone commented on how exceptional the staff was. I am SO glad we worked with Autumn and the team at prime for our wedding. They truly went above and beyond!
Celebrated my engagement here and had such an incredible experience. Huge thank you to Mark for making the night so magical for us! He was incredibly attentive to my need for gluten free food and allowed us to pace out the evening slowly. Its nice to have such a wonderful restaurant near by dedicated to excellent service and delicious food!
Menu change during this lovely pandemic and the food is still perfect. Might have been the best steak I have ever had. My 10 year old doesn't like steak and said he thinks his taste buds might have just changed. French onion soup was perfect. Finished with something called the titanic, check out the pictures. Highly recommend, will continue to go back.
677 Prime continues to be the classic, contemporary steakhouse with the great service that you expect from an upscale restaurant. From the front desk staff, coat check, valet, main bar, entertainment and very experienced wait staff; 677 is the place to be. I had the Wagyu strip steak ($125). I don't know if I can look at another NY Strip steak in the same way ever again. This steak is perfectly marbled and cooked to perfection. The seafood tower is a delight. The wine selection is on point. Don't mess around. Get a glass of the Anthill Farm, Pinot Noir or Cabernet Sauvignon, Paul Hobbs, "Crossbarn" (Sonoma, California); A+. The Calamari and Surf and Turf rolls are go-to starters for me. However, you have to try the Rabbit stuffed Italian Long Hots...Amazing. For sides, try the roasted butternut squash or the Brussel Sprouts. There's something about the detailed and quick service that you get from the experienced waitstaff. And most of the time, I can get in a nice conversation with my waiter/waitress. Classic, classy, quality establishment. Highly recommend this jewel in downtown Albany. On another visit, we receive the same quality, service, and attention to detail. And on yet another visit, 6 friends took advantage of their prefix menu. The service and food was exceptional. A HIGH CLASS MEAL. Was taken here for date night and 677 Prime did not disappoint. The porterhouse was tender and the fries were definitely a compliment. The mac and cheese was to be desired, just needed a bit more salt. However, it did not take away from the rest of the food and the decadent environment.
Absolutely wonderful place. A bit heavy on the wallet, but certainly worth the price if you're in the mood to splurge. The steak was wonderful, and I had a ribeye for two to myself (as well as a strip steak and a wee bit of A5 wagyu). As amazing as the food is, the pleasantness of the staff is also of note. They were very nice and comforting. All around, this is by far the most wonderful place for a steak in the capital region.
I proposed to my lovely wife in January 2021. And with all the restrictions related to Covid, we were a bit concerned about how smooth our wedding planning would go. However, the staff at 677 made the process seamless. We selected 677 as the venue for our reception because we loved what we saw and heard great things about them. And after our wonderful experience, they lived up to the hype. Despite the ever-changing health policies and unique challenges presented by the pandemic, we never felt "left in the dark". Mary B. and Amanada T. would routinely reach out to us to share updates and obtain information. During the reception, Tiffany was very attentive and responsive. She made sure I always had a cold drink in hand and that our guests were being attended to. I don't intend on being single and getting married again. But if I did, 677 would definitely be my venue of choice haha
677 Prime was excellent. The food was delicious and our server, Layla, was wonderful. We will definitely be returning.
Came here with friends and family for my bachelor dinner, and what a delight it was. The bar is fully stocked with spirits of varying colors and ages, but I stuck to a few 10 year Old Rip Van Winkle pours, eyeing the 23 year but couldn't go through with it. We all got a complementary zucchini falafel to start, which was a nice crunchy warm up to a much heavier meal. Next up came the bacon steak, which my new brother-in-law is still talking about. Fatty without being disgusting, yet savory. Didn't even need a knife to cut that bad boy. Highly recommended. For the meal, I split the 40 oz. long bone tomahawk for two, topped with gorgonzola bacon butter. The bacon butter was initially forgotten, but our waitress addressed that immediately. The steak was cooked perfectly at a cool rare temperature as most steaks should be, and the bacon butter was divine. Also highly recommended. This place and Yono's can fight for the honor of "Fanciest restaurant in Albany" but I'll keep coming back to both as they are exemplary dinner spots.
Absolutely amazing food. The steak is what they are known for and for good reason. The temperature chosen will always come out perfect. Besides the steak, the sides are also amazing. I would recommend the octopus as well as the wedge salad to start. Staff are also very kind and attentive and there is valet parking for $10 upon entering. Will definitely be returning. 🥩
Today my family and I have had quite the adventure and now we’re here having delicious food. I had the steak, but of course my kids had the burgers. Impressive restaurant
Tonight my fiance and I went to 677 Prime to celebrate our engagement and Valentine’s Day. We were greeted right away and they checked our coats. It was a very cold night. After we were seated our waitress, Tori , came over and asked if we wanted water or something to drink. Her attention to detail was phenomenal !! She would always come over and asked if we needed anything else. We ordered the oysters and the calamari for an appetizer. So amazing !! The calamari was so tender. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. Our main course came and we both ordered a steak. Such a very tender steak and so flavorful. Our dinner out was a great experience. If you have never been to 677 Prime , you need to go and have a great dining experience. We give this restaurant 5 stars !!
Had an amazing dinner experience. The food was spectacular all around. The atmosphere was elegant, but did not feel stuffy. And our server, Bowman, created a truly unique dinning experience that our table of 6 was blown away by. Bowman is the man and we definitely can’t wait to return for more.
We had an excellent evening. An attentive but not intrusive waiter, excellent wine list, finely seared, perfectly cooked, tasty steaks. We enjoyed the wedge salad and several sides, finishing our meals by sharing a large piece of coconut cream pie (which had an interesting dense texture).
We have been to 677 twice now and we had a great experience each time. Jon served us both times and I must say he is amazing at his job! He is very professional and so knowledgable about the menu. The steaks were delicious and the dessert was OUTSTANDING!
Jeanna was our server tonight, she was very professional and knowledgeable about her job. My wife, daughter myself and host had a wonderful evening there. The food was perfect in taste, temperature and presentation. We ordered a mixture of seafood, steak, and chicken. I had vodka (Tito) with tonic. Each mixed drink was a perfect simulacrum of each other. If you want Hi class dinner with your family, this is the place to go. It was perfect
Amazing restaurant. It's my family's favorite spot since LaSerre closed a few years ago. Great food, amazing service, and wonderful atmosphere.
Wonderful night out for a birthday celebration. We had the Wagyu ny strip and the Snow aged wagyu. Both melt in you mouth amazing. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and flavorful. The lobster stuffed baked potato was huge and also very delicious. We had 2 of the seasonal cocktails and they were perfect and very tasty. The price is high so it's a place for special occasions if you can afford it. I will note that it took over an hour and a half to get our food. Not sure what caused the slowdown. But the food was worth the wait.
677 prime is definitely a date night spot. The ambiance is very romantic. The staff is very nice with their service. Their wagyu steak melts in your mouth along with the jalapeno creamed corn. You're here for the food and experience so you're getting your money's worth for sure. Definitely recommend so go enjoy!
We have been enjoying this upscale steak house for years. All the food we have tried and we often get dishes other than steak have all been delicious. The waiters are phenomenal and take very good care of you. The live music is a nice addition to a perfect date night. Gluten free options available for those who need that along with vegetarian dishes. If you enjoy seafood the two tier tower of lobster, shrimp, oysters, blue crab, king crab leg, & a spicy seafood salad is an amazing way to celebrate.
Seriously the best food I have ever had! Especially loved the foie gras truffles and the cinnamon roll pork belly appetizers. Appreciated they had some cool mocktails to go with the food as well. Service was great and you could tell the servers and chefs all cared about what they were putting out. We will absolutely be back!
First off, the staff were beyond attentive. They all were super helpful and in my case probably the best service I have had in a restaurant! The food, though on the more pricy side, really worth it! My sister and I had the porterhouse for two! The steak was cooked perfectly! The roasted garlic was my favorite to add to the steak. I am not a big beef eater, but I would definitely recommend the porterhouse, medium rare! The side dishes were amazing! The mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful, but I have to say that the bacon steak with the brown sugar was the best menu item that my family ordered. If you want a vegetarian meal, this is not the place for you, but seafood and steak lovers please make a reservation now!!! You will not be disappointed! The desserts will blow your mind. We had the mount Vesuvius brownie. It was covered in whipped cream and fruit. Delicious! They also had live jazz music playing. And the atmosphere is very calm and family friendly. It was easy to talk to one another. They also offer private areas, and a valet parking service.
Amazing food, so fresh and cooked to perfection. The entire staff was so friendly and our server Sergio was amazingly sweet and funny! The wagyu steak was absolutely the best steak I've ever had in my entire life and even the side dishes blew my mind. Today is my birthday and the staff gave me a birthday card and a gift card for our next visit, which was so unexpected! Price is up there but the portions were surprisingly huge and everything was more than worth the price tag. Amazing decor, amazing staff and service, and PERFECT food!
The food was absolutely amazing. This is going to sound crazy, but one of my favorite things was the bread, maybe because I had never tasted any bread like that before.. If you like steak, I highly recommend the cowboy steak. My husband got that and I got the strip, my steak was great, but his was even better, which I couldn't believe there was such a difference! I'm not sure of the exact differences in the cut, seasoning or cooking method, but wow! Don't get me wrong, my strip steak was great, but mmmm, that cowboy was something else. 🤣Our server Tim was phenomenal! 👏👏
Our family recently hosted a very special birthday for our patriarch at 677 Prime. I can confidently say this place exceeds expectations in every aspect. Every course was amazing & presentation was flawless. Servers (Bryan & Jon) were impeccable throughout the evening. Also the event planning services were remarkable…Autumn was the best. She took care of every detail & helped with every decision I didn’t know I had to make. In conclusion, 677 Prime is a must visit for anyone celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a great meal. 677 Prime should be at the top of your list
Comfortable atmosphere. attentive, friendly, helpful staff. The bone-in filet mignon was cooked perfectly. It was savory, juicy and absolutely worth it. The loaded potato was much more potato than I expected. My wife had the bone in filet as well but with shrimp. For dessert we had the bag of donut holes. Again a surprisingly good treat, we picked it because it sounded like it would travel well...
Mark is the best waiter I have ever had, and makes the experience at Prime well worth it! I actually only go if he is working. Very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. Highly recommend dining at Prime with Mark as your waiter!
Stopped in here for dinner while in town for business. Overall my coworker and I found ourselves extremely pleased. Our server was very personable and attentive and they had a musician playing the piano and singing. The food was wonderful and of course the steak in particular was the star. We also noted the Foie Gras to be particularly decadent and delicious. Overall this place was wonderful and it makes sense that this is where the local politicians and executives go for a good meal. Looking forward to coming back again.
My wife and I decided to go to 677 prime for our first year anniversary. Upon sitting, there was a hand written anniversary card on the table waiting for us. This was our first time at a more high end restaurant and our waiter Joseph helped to make the night so much more comfortable for us. It was easy to see that he had his hands full, but he still made every attempt he could to stop by our table and check in on us. We ended up ordering enhanced bread service and the 4Oz. hanging tomahawk steak for 2. After the bread service, there was a long wait for the steak as it was cooked to perfection. (Which it was). Joseph brought over a complimentary sample of a pasta dish they had for my wife and I, it too was amazing and unexpected. but helped to make the night amazing. When the steak was brought over, joseph used a torch to blast the black truffle butter onto the steak and potatoes. The presentation was amazing! Joseph went out of his way to help explain dishes, drinks, and make our first year anniversary a memorable one. I highly recommend going here for a wonderful meal. The cost is high. but the food is worth it! My wife and I cant wait to go again!
The waitress was super helpful with fulfilling my request for the larger oysters. The sorbet they served with the oysters was really good and I loved all the textures together. Cox au Vin was delicious and the lobster mac n cheese was filling and who doesn't love cavatappi pasta! Also this restaurant makes a killer bloody Mary, the mix is just to die for. *chefs kiss* to this meal
My family and I went to 677 Prime on a Saturday evening to celebrate Moms 60th birthday. We arrived a bit early, and were seated right on time for our reservation. The first thing I noticed was a sweet birthday card for Mom from the staff, which was so thoughtful. Jon and Alejandro promptly attended to us, keeping our water glasses full, and keeping smiles on our faces! Mom had a glass of Chardonnay, DH had a beer, and DD ordered the Dragons Breath mocktail. To start, the table shared the seafood plateau and bread service. The oysters were some of the best I've ever had. The bread came with hot honey, a pesto butter, and a savory jam. To accompany our hors d'vours, Ryan in the kitchen created a beautiful ravioli dish just for us. Halibut stuffed fresh ravioli, topped with saffron sauce and a lobster tail. Thank you, Ryan! For dinner, Mom ordered the wagyu Cap, DH ordered the A5, DD ordered the cowboy steak (HUGE!!), and I enjoyed the sea bass. For the price, I was expecting decent service, but we were treated like royalty. At the end of our dinner, Mom enjoyed an espresso while DD had the salted caramel sorbet. Mom was also gifted a birthday dessert. I can't wait to return!
Between my engagement party and hosting my parents 30th anniversary party you guys have been so good to us! Fantastic staff, atmosphere, food, customer service. Autumn and Tiffany are wonderful!
Been coming to Prime for years now, and every time it's amazing. Haven't ever been disappointed. We love using the valet, the wait staff are always polite, the food is absolutely the best! Prime is most definitely in our Top favorite places to dine! We highly recommend this establishment!
Place was amazing, from the valet service to the hostess who took our coats and got us a nice table spur of thr moment without a reservation for waiter was great as well, punctual, knowledgeable and he had a personality, just an all around great experience.
677 PRIME is an old fashioned steak house and it is fantastic. Nice Venue, with GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. You won't be disappointed at this place. You're welcome 😊
At Angelo's 677 Prime in Albany, New York, the evening began with a vivid flourish: the Dragon’s Breath mocktail, a jewel-toned elixir of pomegranate, dragon fruit, lychee, and lime, anchored by fresh mint. What might have simply been sweet proved instead to be nuanced and invigorating, with just enough acidity to wake the palate without overwhelming it. The surf and turf tempura roll followed, a clever intersection of indulgence and playfulness. Steak and lobster folded into creamy cheese, scallions, sweet soy, and a sharp chili-wasabi aioli. Each bite delivered a satisfying crunch followed by a rich, savory finish. It’s a roll that doesn’t merely bridge land and sea, but does so with a certain swagger. Then came the main event: a 6 oz Kagoshima A5 Wagyu fillet, seared to indulgent perfection, melting on contact, its richness subtly mirrored by a butter-poached Canadian lobster tail. The peppercorn cream sauce provided the right contrast, warm, aromatic, and precise. Charred heirloom carrots and parsnips added depth and earthiness, while the maple tahini and dukkah lent the dish both sweetness and spice, punctuated by the gentle heat of Aleppo chili flakes. Dessert was less of a course and more of a coda. Rum raisin bread pudding drenched in dark rum, layered with salted caramel and paired with maple walnut ice cream. A classic reimagined without fanfare but with remarkable balance. A cappuccino accompanied, naturally, as a final grounding note to a well-composed symphony. Service, led by Alejandro, matched the kitchen’s finesse. Attentive, perceptive, and quietly orchestrated. Timing was impeccable, interaction never intrusive. 677 Prime knows what it is and delivers it without hesitation. Confident, composed, and quietly extravagant. The restau opened in 2005 in downtown Albany and quickly established itself as the Capital Region’s premier steakhouse. Originally launched by Angelo Mazzone, the restaurant helped redefine fine dining in the area with its focus on prime steaks, fresh seafood, and a serious wine program. In 2017, founding chef Jaime Ortiz took ownership, continuing to elevate the experience while preserving its reputation as a destination for celebrations, business dining, and special occasions. Now more than two decades in, 677 Prime remains a cornerstone of Albany’s upscale dining scene. To sum it it all up in one word, amazing!
Thank you to Autumn and everyone at 677 Prime for hosting my Birthday. Matt and Tiffany were wonderful servers. I chose a four course menu and the food was amazing. The food was very fresh and tasty. I could not be happier. 677 prime is a beautiful restaurant for events with a hardworking team.
Jandro is absolutely top tier. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, professional, and exceeded expectations. The attention to detail, quality of work, and overall care really stood out. You can tell Jandro takes pride in what he does and genuinely wants customers to leave happy. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back
677 Prime is the best stakehouse in our area. They have excellent entrees with yummy appetizers and desserts. My son always picks 677 for any special occasion that warrants a splurge. Last night was his 12th birthday and they made him feel like royalty. Shout out to Jon, our server who was super knowledgable and gave exceptional suggestions for both food and wine. He added in some special surprises like brining champagne/ginger ale in flutes to have a family birthday toast, bringing a surprise lamb ragu course, and sending out a really cool sparkler with my son's dessert. Special shout out to Alejandro who was the busser, I believe. He made our son a special mocktail with boba in it and brought out the dessert with 3 candles and a sparkler. He also refresned the hot stone and was super fun and kind to the birthday boy. The food is amazing at 677 but the service is what makes them shine.
Honestly, one of the top 2 or 3 steaks I have ever had. Has to be the best in the area, at least for us. My wife had the salmon, I had the cowboy steak, some grilled jumbo shrimp, and we split the lobster Mac and cheese. We finished everything except the lobster Mac and cheese, although we dented it, but we brought that home. 2 of our lovely children, who are in their early-20s, got into an argument because neither wanted to split it with the other, it was that good. Loved the piano music and the lighting, and the well-lit menus were a nice surprise. Definitely heading back, excellent date night destination.
This place is definitely what you call fine dining. We did make a reservation. They do have valet parking or if you choose you can park on the street. Upon entry you can do coat check. Upon entry we were greater immediately and taken to our table. Shout out to our server Alejandro for a pleasureable dining experience. Just remember you are paying for an experience. The menu lights up when you open it.. Now that's top tier.. Food is great the only down side is you pay for each item you add to your dish. I would highly recommend this place. I will definitely be going back.
Rented out a room for my proposal and was met with the most perfect night of our lives. Dinner was phenomenal, every bite was amazing and the service was top tier. If I could eat here every night of my life I absolutely would. They made us feel like the center of the world and I couldn't recommend a better place for any special occasion.
This is the perfect date night spot! The wife and I decided to have well deserved night out so we chose 677 Prime and we’re not disappointed. Our waiter John was great at answering our questions and making recommendations from the menu and drink list. We opted for the Snow Aged Wagyu and Wagyu filet and were not disappointed. This was some of the best Wagyu I have had since we left Japan and the first time to try snow aged. The Wagyu was juicy, tender and savory! Paired with a Cabernet that John recommended it was even better, although it was a bit too sweet for my taste. We had a phenomenal meal with great service and I can’t wait to go back to 677 Prime.
The ambience was beautiful. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Food was AMAZING! I got the 12oz wagyu ny strip with black truffle butter and veal demi glaze, with the triple butter mash puree and everything was tender and buttery. The first drink I got (frenchy) was OK, definitely could taste the liquor but the BLACK MAGIC DRINK WAS BEYOND AMAZING. Definitely try the strawberry cheesecake pizza, you will not be disappointed!
677 Prime: Where Excellence Meets Perfection in Albany As someone who is incredibly harsh with food critiques, I don’t hand out praise lightly. But 677 Prime has solidified its place as one of my favorite restaurants ever, and for good reason. Let’s start with the service. Our server was the epitome of professionalism, paying attention to every detail and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. His mannerisms and attentiveness stood out so much that I can confidently say he’s the best server I’ve ever had. Now, onto the food. Every dish was flawlessly executed, with flavors that were perfectly balanced. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender, flavorful, and complemented by excellent pairings and sauces. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned just right, showcasing the kitchen’s attention to detail. But the star of the show? The coconut cake dessert paired with coconut ice cream. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best dessert I’ve ever had. The cake and ice cream combination was perfection, so much so that even if I wanted to nitpick, I couldn’t find a single flaw. It’s one of only two dishes in my life that I’ve ever rated a 10/10, and it deserves every bit of that score. The ambiance added to the experience, providing a pleasant and sophisticated environment for dining. While the total cost for two came to $720, it was worth every penny for the quality, service, and overall experience. If you’re looking for a dining experience that delivers excellence in every aspect, 677 Prime is a must-visit. Join me in tracking down the best bites!
Best steak I've had by a mile. Accompanying salts and sauces elevate the already perfectly cooked well seasoned steak. The steak is 5/5 unfortunately the sides were not impressive with the exception of the lobster Mac and cheese which was good. Deserts were also great. This is the only upscale steakhouse in the area I've had that was worth the price.
4.25 Stars Overall is was very good, not quite excellent. I would consider it upscale rather than formal fine dining. Biggest issue: high price, even for fine dining/upscale. Most people probably don't want to seem cheap and say it but I will. I actually compared menu's from similar establishments and 677 is 10-20+% more on everything. I say it because on a 4 top table it makes the difference between a $500 tab and a $750 one. I enjoyed the experience but definitely paid above market value for it.
I had the lamb shank. If you order it, ask for a steak knife. It was not tender and not a great dish. If I go back, I will order something other than that. Otherwise, the service was excellent.
Service and atmosphere is incredible. The bartenders are amazing, creating perfect cocktails. However the food is very average at above average prices. The steaks are okay. The tuna tartare is weird. The wellington was borderline inedible. The octopus was too hard to eat. Calamari was good. They also had a weird sushi roll with cream cheese in it... I think that is off the menu now though which a relief.
Right off the bat they ask for 8.00 valet parking upfront. This was a 1st time to ask before service was over. The valet staff although was very nice. Seated by a very nice employee. The table was set very nicely. My courses include Canadian cold water lobster, shrimp cocktail, 7 Oz filet, baked potato, coconut pie.Food presentation was excellent.Food was cooked to perfection. 4 stars given for service. Jarrod? waiter was inattentive. Had to wait 15 minutes for tea,had to ask for salt and pepper. The busboy really deserved the tip.He was outstanding and very helpful.
Our waiter was terrific and it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was great—but incredibly overpriced. Hence, removal of a star.
I had a great experience. The waiter and waitress were very nice and professional. The valet wasn't the friendliest person, but he was ok. The food was good. We had the "Faroe Island Salmon" with Moscato and it was delicious. The atmosphere was great!
What you expect from a high end steak house. Went in for a family event. Got there early to get our drink on. Bartender (Jen) was so much fun and knows her drinks! From the IPAs, to whiskeys, to Chardonnay! When we sat, we where taken care of by a super attentive staff. The light up menus were fun! Tim was fantastic. The onion soup made with short ribs was amazing. You need to try it if you are a onion soup aficionado. The steaks were all good as well, the strip steaks were huge. The 90-day butter aged Delmonico was great. Lobster mac and cheese, creamed corn, creamed spinach, desserts, everything was great. Lost one star just because these high-end places charge so much for the food. While The food service and everything were good, the prices don't have to be that high.
Fancy steak house, 1st time in restaurant where the menu book has lights when you opened it! Pretty cool, makes is easy to read in a dimmed lighting 😄 We didn’t order steak but opt to several appetizer to try their menu. Started with lobster bisque, foie gras and octopus. All 3 were great flavors. Dinner was seared sea bass and Wagyu tartare bone marrow. Sea bass was a tiny bit overcooked for me but it had a great crispy sear and delicious lobster topping. The tartare was mixed with marrow, I think the caper is a a bit overpowering, not the best tartare/marrow dish I’ve had. But overall we had a very nice dinner.
We took my son here for his birthday. I ordered the wagu steak and it had a line of, clearly visible grisal line right down the middle. This should never happen, I didn’t eat an entree that evening. I’ve been there before and had great steak and loved Prime. I won’t be back, Shaun O’Rourke
It’s been several years since we’ve dined at 677 Prime. Their Lobster Wednesday promo piqued our interest and we easily made Open Table reservations. Our first choice, parking garage or 677 Valet. The weather was decent and there were no major events; we opted for the relatively empty garage which turned out to be a $5 bargain. We were greeted upon entry and seated quickly with the bar and entrance in view. An eclectic stream of patrons entered, donning their finest to the tee shirt, cut off shorts and sandals look. We told Jeanna it was a lobster night and ordered cocktails. Even though we previously read the Lobster Wednesday menu, it took us a few minutes to decide. Cocktails came and we ordered our appetizers. A serviceable Bloody Mary was followed by a Lavender Lemonade. The $15 Lavender Lemonade was a glass of ice cubes, gone in 2 sips. I was told the bartender carefully measures its ingredients. The lobster and crab stuffed mushrooms were tasty and well prepared, not overpowered by the tabasco nor lemon. The lobster and burrata salad hit all the right spots. But with fresh burrata, ripe heirlooms, watermelon and pistachios; the lobster was almost an afterthought. A very good $20 salad, but questionable $20 upcharge. Unfortunately, our main courses were disappointing. An overdone, rubbery steamed lobster was a letdown. My sparse, overcooked lobster meat, sat on a mound of very chewy risotto, that had a glue like consistency that solidified when it cooled. Dessert, two giant chipwiches, were huge and tasty. Overall, a lackluster dining experience at a premier restaurant.
Order the BLT salad, the amount of Gorgonzola on it was overwhelming and this made the salad extremely salty. I also had the surf and turf tempura rolls and them also tasted salty. Please note that I are some without the soy sauce. The wine was exquisite along with the music. The atmosphere was great, the piano guy made this place special. That said, food needs improvement.
For some reason, the night we went to dinner, the service was terrible. We were seated on the top floor, and I had to get up several times to find our waiter. The appetizers and main courses took a long time to arrive. We love the food and the atmosphere, but the servers need to be more attentive, especially since we are spending a lot of money on a good meal and service. We will still return and hope it's better.
This restaurant has been my go-to for years for special events or if I just haven’t been in awhile and would like a nice steak. Last night was disappointing to say the least. I ordered the petite filet cooked medium as I have there many times before. The steak came out well done. I sent it back and the next steak came out rare. I will say to this point I have never sent anything back at any restaurant even when I probably should have, but for $63 for a petite filet, I expect it to be done perfectly. At this point, my husbands dinner was going cold so I took what they brought out the second time as it was at least cooked enough that I could eat it. Aside from that, there was a fruit fly circling our table for most of the dinner. At the end of our dinner, our leftovers were presented to us in a bag similar to what you’d get for cheap Chinese takeout. The presentation was just poor. When you’re spending about $300 for 2 people to have dinner, I expect much better and at the very least the quality and attention to detail I have come to know there in previous years. I understand the ownership has changed since Angelo Mazzone was at the helm, and it definitely shows. Separately, I will say the service was excellent and did their best to remedy the situation. My husband and I also thought it comical that who we thought was the manager came up to our table and said “we are taking the carrots off your check for the inconvenience”.. we thought this was an interesting way to remedy the situation. Long story short, 677 needs to get back to what they were.
If you're coming here, order steak! Their wagyu was exceptional. However, my seafood special was lacking in flavor and was disappointing. It had so much potential, but the execution was lacking. The pre meal bread was awesome, as was the salad we ordered. For the price, my meal (seafood) wasn't worth it. I think it could have been a lot better.
It was overpriced, I expect better execution and ingredients for what they charge. I'm happy to pay the amounts but there should be better execution. Chicken and Salmon were good, I would prefer a different sauce with the salmon. The brussel sprouts were burnt, brcoolini was undercooked. Crème brûlée custard part was very bland that ruined dessert. Raspberry sorbet is what you would expect. Wine was as expected. There are so many amazing restaurants with better value. The server had social hour talking to friends at the bar when we were trying to leave at 11pm so we were stuck there much later than we wanted which also ruined the experience. It was so loud in there that it wasn't relaxing. We wouldn't go back.
DISAPPOINTING! A few years ago I went to a wedding here at 677 and it was terrific. I was really looking forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary here. The menu is pretty expensive but I knew that going in. And, we had a generous gift card, which made cost a virtual non-factor. But, the value here seemed very low to me. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, but not very long. The location we sat at, a booth, was uncomfortably chilly. The booth was great and plenty of room for both of us, but I’m not sure how it would be for four people. I felt cold as soon as we sat down, even with a sweater on. I felt cold throughout the entire meal, as did my wife. The restaurant vibe was a little gaudy, but otherwise generally okay. We ordered calamari as an app and it definitely was tasty, although not the best I’ve ever had. The waiter brought over some very uninspiring bread. It had virtually no taste, and seemed less than that of a supermarket’s-brand bread. They poured their ‘homemade’ olive oil on the bread (I didn’t know olives grew in Albany!). The oil wasn’t anything special. Butter wasn’t offered. I ordered the NY strip with mushrooms and my wife got a filet mignon. We also ordered baked potatoes, a ‘cauliflower steak’, and asparagus as sides. The potatoes were huge, but tasted bland. Tables here do not have salt or pepper on them, and there was no butter provided. The asparagus was actually pretty good. The cauliflower’steak’ was dry and pretty tasteless of flavor. I felt like I didn’t get many mushrooms, and that they were nothing special either. On to the center of attraction - the steaks. My wife said she liked her filet mignon. I REALLY did NOT like my NY Strip. It was surprisingly difficult to cut with a serrated knife, difficult to chew, and to eat. There was absolutely nothing special about its taste. I honestly have had far better at Texas Roadhouse, the Barnsider, Delmonico’s, and plenty of other restaurants. I only ate about a quarter of my steak because it was that bad. I did bring it home and it’s still in my fridge, but I honestly don’t know if I’ll eat it. I’ll probably give it a try. Our waiter was okay. Not great. Not horrible. If there were any specials he didn’t mention them. I thought I heard a waitress serving a nearby table mention specials, but I could be wrong. He was otherwise attentive. We had two sizable gift certificates, so we didn’t care much about the cost. Someone I work with said he had Japanese Wagyu filet and said it was the best steak he’d ever had. I almost ordered it but, despite the gift certificates, I could not justify $195 for a six ounce serving. I’m honestly not sure if I’m happy I didn’t try it or not, given how lacking of flavor most everything else was. I know there’s a relatively new owner of 677 who specializes in high end restaurants. I’m not sure if he owned it when I was here a few years ago for the wedding but, if not, something definitely seems to be different and not really for the better. I live around the corner from another restaurant he owns, Toros. I’ve eaten there twice, maybe three, times. My experience at Toros was very similar to 677 - pretty expensive and pretty unimpressive. If I could rank this in half-stars I would not give 677 a 2 1/2 or a 1 1/2 star rating - 2 really seems accurate. We have a pretty good balance on our remaining gift card, so we’ll probably try 677 again, but I won’t be looking all that much forward to it.
This is a corporate restaurant with nothing special. The food is OK. But at that price point it should be much better. They didn't cook steaks to temp. The wagyu steak was tough. They charge for butter. The decor is a little long in the tooth. Even the ice cream was very average. Look, it's Albany. But if you're charging me $145 for a steak, you better make it a good one; especially 160 miles north of Manhattan. This was at best of $55 steak. I feel bad writing this because for a lot of people it's probably their favorite restaurant. But if you really know steak, and you're used to restaurants that warrant $140 or more for a steak, avoid this place or you will be disappointed.
I am writing to share feedback about our recent visit, where my fiancé and I were celebrating our anniversary. While we were hoping for a pleasant and memorable experience, we left feeling disappointed. To begin, I made our reservation three weeks in advance, expecting appropriate seating for such a special occasion. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table in a tight row with other tables extremely close together. My fiancé was very uncomfortable due to the lack of space, and we did not understand why we were not offered a booth, especially since it appeared booths were available and we were not walk-in guests. Additionally, the steak that was served was very small and excessively fatty. There was also visible blood on the plate, which was extremely unappetizing and took away from our dining experience. We chose your restaurant specifically to celebrate an important milestone, and this experience did not reflect the level of service we expected.
I must admit, this was somewhat disappointing. The appetizers and sides were quite impressive, and the lobster bisque was exceptional. However, the steak, which should have been the star of the show, was overcooked. I requested medium rare, but it seemed slightly overcooked by 1-2 minutes. Which is quite unfortunate for an $80 steak and a $400 diner.
Very disappointed they removed the vegetarian menu. Was an excellent spot to go for date night when someone likes steak and the other doesnt. Will have to go elsewhere
We celebrated my wife's birthday at this place, we don't drink and ordered orange juice for our dishes, and the first glasses were fine, but when I asked to update my juice, they brought me a glass of juice and it smelled like alcohol, the waiter didn't believe us, and proved otherwise, but a passing girl waiter confirmed our words, and I'm sincerely grateful for it, the staff told me that I was wrong, and this can't be, And it's not even about money, it's about attitude, the evening was ruined.
677 Prime is wildly overrated. Charging over $100 for a ribeye in Albany is absurd. This isn’t NYC, where you can actually get better steaks for less. The experience feels rushed. When a steak hits the table in about 10 minutes, it raises real questions about whether it was already cooked. That’s not how a serious steakhouse operates. The staff second-guesses your ordering decisions. Paying top dollar only to be questioned by the server completely kills the experience. Final verdict: Overpriced for the market, rushed, and oddly judgmental. In Albany, at these prices, the bar should be higher—especially when NYC delivers better value and better execution.
Update 9/26: No response to date. Incredibly insulting to offer to make things right and then go radio silent. Initial assessment was accurate. Update 9/19: They have still not responded to my email after asking me to reach out. 677 Prime turned what should have been a special birthday celebration into a $2,230 catastrophe that was nothing short of insulting. Despite advance reservations and specifically requesting their Wellington, they simply ran out of their signature dish. The wine service was an absolute disaster that revealed complete incompetence at every level. Multiple bottles were delivered to wrong tables throughout the night, we were charged for both a Mocine Super Tuscan and Planeta Cerasuolo that we never received, and their sommelier violated the most basic wine service protocol. When serving a shared bottle, any trained professional knows to have one person taste and approve the wine, pour for all other guests, then fill the taster's glass last. Instead, she had someone taste it, then immediately poured his glass first followed by others, demonstrating she had zero understanding of proper service. When we politely corrected these glaring errors, staff chose to gaslight us rather than acknowledge their obvious mistakes or offer any apology. The kitchen proved equally incompetent, sending out steak cooked well done instead of the requested medium rare, lobster scampi with frozen, gummy shrimp alongside warm pasta, and Caesar salad missing eggs. They couldn't even provide enough plates for our party. It took two hours just to get water refilled, and after promising a complimentary birthday dessert, they charged us anyway. While our server Jeanna was professional throughout this disaster, she's wasted on an establishment that operates like an overpriced amateur hour production. The management is incompetent, the kitchen can't execute basic dishes, and the service staff lacks fundamental hospitality training. For over $2,200, this was an embarrassing display of everything wrong with restaurants that charge premium prices while delivering bargain-bin execution. 677 Prime is a scam masquerading as fine dining. Avoid at all costs.
