Le Coucou is an exceptional dining experience. The food is absolutely outstanding—refined, perfectly executed, and full of flavor. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted. What truly sets it apart, though, is the service: attentive, professional, and warm without being intrusive. Easily one of the best services in New York. A must-visit for anyone looking for top-tier French cuisine.

Went there for the 2 set lunch menu. It was delicious and the place was so cozy and pretty. We also ordered Baba au rhum and it was great as well

had the best experience here for my 21st birthday! the service, food and drinks were all top notch, and our server was incredibly helpful with dessert recommendations for the most aesthetically pleasing birthday cake :) i initially chose this place for the foie gras, but every dish was perfect!

The fish was phenomenal. Definitely get the steak with bone marrow too. The duck was very good. We shared everything between two so the photos we took are half portions of the original dish.

Service was magnifique! Tasting menu is delicious, we came for lunch and got some cocktails too. We hope to come back and try the dinner menu. A beautifully decorated restaurant, not stuffy and felt really cozy inside!

The best birthday lunch a girl could ask for! The food was absolutely outstanding; fresh, unique, and delightful. The only thing that could possibly top it was the five star service by Ryan and his entire team — amazing recommendations for food and wine, impeccable service, and so many delightful surprises throughout to celebrate my birthday lunch to myself. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a one of a kind dining experimented in the city

Expensive but personable, I came alone but was welcomed by the company of the sommelier, Quincy. The halibut and chicken patty with foie gras were excellent, as were the wine pairings. Should’ve noted the wine names Finished with delectable chocolate cake god i’d go back just for the cake! Need to try the veal sweetbread next time

I celebrated my birthday at Le Coucou and had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. The service was excellent — attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the evening. The atmosphere is elegant, warm, and inviting, making it a perfect place for a celebration or a special night out. Overall, a fantastic restaurant with great food, great service, and a lovely ambiance. Highly recommend.✨👌

Came here for my partners birthday celebration and it was a hit ! First off, you’re greeted with lovely staff where you check in and they do have coat check. You wait patiently with some nice seating beside their beautiful entrance bar. We took our seats in the inner dining area and loved the open kitchen concept. You can see the chefs/team preparing your food as well as hear them too. We decided to split everything we ordered and they did such an awesome job serving us with our own dishes for each ordered enter (hence why the portion looks smaller). One of my favorite parts was the servers left the sauce pan on the side for us especially with the Ris de veau à l'estragon. That sauce was my favorite and would have scrapped it with the bread if given another chance. Lastly, if I were to order a dish over again… it would have to be the Ris de veau à l'estragon or the Canette à l'orange. I believe that my partner enjoyed the side pan they left for us. Please see photos and videos for more context on our orders !

Le Coucou is special. The food is rich, classic, and perfectly done without feeling over the top. Every dish feels thoughtful, from the sauces to the presentation. The room is beautiful but still comfortable, and the service is calm and confident. It’s the kind of place you go for a real dining experience, not just a meal. Worth it.

This is probably my favourite restaurant in New York. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is amazing. You must try the tartare with caviar and the crème brûlée. Our sommelier was simply magical! I haven't had such amazing wine in a long time! This was my second visit, and I will definitely be back.

One of the best restaurants in NYC. The food is just amazing. Every dish is the best thing you have ever had (or at least this week if you eat at Michelin Starred restaurants every week). The maniacs in the kitchen (you hear them yell "Ouii" after every order is read by the Sou Chef as you eat) are incredibly talented and have attention to detail that would normally be considered a problem. The service is excellent as well. Everything was properly paced, and all the service was smooth and unobtrusive (unfortunately for wait staff, if you can't remember them even being there they did their job at the highest level). I've been here for lunch and dinner and both were occasions I won't forget.

Le Coucou has been on my list for what feels like forever, and I’m so happy we finally made it in to experience it. From the moment we sat down, it was clear why this spot has the reputation it does. The menu, while reading as incredibly exotic and uniquely curated, reveals so many thoughtful intricacies once the dishes actually arrive. Each plate feels like a quiet little masterpiece! Bold in flavor and elegant in technique! We decided to lean into our server’s recommendations, and happy we did! Every single dish was truly mouthwatering in its own way. We started with the eggplant, then came the sliced tuna, perfectly seasoned and impossibly fresh, with a silky texture that practically melted the moment it touched your tongue. The fish dish with the buttery mousse was to die for, one of those plates you already start craving again halfway through eating it. Beyond the food, the entire experience felt intentional and intimate, from the knowledgeable service to the way each dish was delivered with just enough context to make you appreciate the craftsmanship behind it Safe to say Le Coucou fully lived up to the hype fand then some!!)

Everything was perfect — the food, the service… well, except for the bill. They took their time bringing it, but hey, no complaints 🤣 The veal stew mid-course was absolutely heavenly, and the veal chops were truly to die for. The open kitchen was a masterpiece on its own — no smell, just chefs working like artists driven by pure passion.

We had an amazing time at Le Coucou. The whole experience felt incredibly romantic, especially with the candlelit atmosphere and the beautiful open-kitchen concept. The room itself was stunning and set the perfect tone for the night. The drinks were amazing. We weren’t impressed with the tuna or lobster, but the monkfish was definitely interesting and unique. The bone marrow and steak were absolutely life-changing. The veal chop was also very good. Dessert was a highlight. We loved that they offered cheese to finish, and the crème brûlée paired with the passionfruit sorbet was the perfect ending. Overall, a beautiful experience and a place we’d definitely return to.

New favorite, Had a 7:30 p.m. reservation to meet a friend — and while the food was fantastic, the real joy was catching up over a beautiful meal in a stunning room. We started with gin & tonics — cold, balanced, no fuss. Then came a series of dishes that show why Le Coucou earns its reputation: • Veal sweetbreads with tarragon cream and maitake mushrooms were rich, crisp-edged, perfectly executed. • Buckwheat-fried monkfish with cucumber and curry vinaigrette: incredible texture and flavor contrast — crunchy, tender, bright. • Halibut with beurre blanc and fermented daikon was subtle and elegant, with that perfect hit of acid. • The kitchen surprised us with an off-menu bay scallop (callo de acha) — delicate and fresh. • Dessert was the Vacherin aux fruits exotiques — passionfruit and mango sorbet, coconut cream, crisp meringue — like a tropical cloud to end the night. Service was warm, attentive, and perfectly timed. The room felt alive but never loud. Every detail, from the plating to the pace, allowed us to focus on what mattered: reconnecting. This wasn’t just a meal — it was a setting for conversation, memory, and presence. And that’s what great restaurants are supposed to be.

You’re gonna love this place! It’s an elegant French restaurant with a full menu of incredible food and wines — perfect for a romantic date or a special celebration. I started with the Thon à l’Espelette, a tuna appetizer that was absolutely amazing. For the main course, we had the Filet de Bœuf — insanely delicious, tender meat served with creamy mashed potatoes and bone marrow. We also tried the Agneau Printanier, which comes with lamb chops and a small pot of slow-cooked lamb — juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. For drinks, I went with a non-alcoholic cider (Longe Cider) — refreshing and fantastic. Prices are fair for the quality and experience — not cheap, but if you appreciate top-notch food and fine dining, this place is totally worth it.

This was the BEST dining experience I have had in a long time. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and everyone from the hostess to the waitress to the support staff were wishing us a Happy Anniversary and making sure we were comfortable throughout the night. The service was impeccable, our waitress was attentive, and the whole dinner ran smoothly. The most impressive thing that I took away from this experience was the fact that the kitchen went above and beyond to give us a crème brûlée for our dessert to celebrate our anniversary, since due to my food allergies, I could not eat other desserts that were on the menu. The food was amazing and we will be returning 100%.

Excellent Atmosphere and Hospitality. Food quality was excellent, as always. Our server Paolo was very knowledgeable about all the items on the menu, as well as the wine recommendations. We had the Yellowfin Tuna, Morrells, Lobster and Filet. All 5/5 choices. Deserts was phenomenal. A true experience, not just a dinner. We had a 10:45 reservation but arrived at 9 and were seated very promptly.

My boyfriend took me to dinner at Le Coucou for our anniversary, as he knew it has been on my list for a long time. TLDR; We were both blown away by the whole experience at this restaurant! After a lovely greeting, we were given a table with views of the whole place so we could take it all in. Every detail about the design felt intentional and luxurious, and the ambiance was peaceful yet alive - a rare feat in NYC. The staff are beyond wonderful - so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. They also made sure our special occasion felt truly special, not just like another night of the week. Every single staff member we interacted with wished us an emphatic Happy Anniversary :') The food exceeded all expectations and we were so grateful to our waiter for making such perfect recommendations. Every bite was a genuine delight and we left VERY full. I also am never one to say the dessert was the best course... but I will be thinking about that green chartreuse creme brulee for a long long time. I could really go on and on about what a great time we had. I am already plotting my next visit! Thanks Le Coucou <3

Celebrated my birthday here. Everything was phenomenal. Atmosphere is chic and VERY romantic. Me and my husband ordered Galantine de pintade et foie gras à la chartreuse, Filet de bœuf, Homard « bourse et la vie » and Creme Brule. We loved everything. The lobster was one of the best among those that I had in US. I just wish they had escargots served together with baguette as well. Other than that, price matches the performance. Highly recommended!

A Restaurant Worthy of a Second Star ✨ This restaurant is truly a must-visit for everyone—and it has definitely become our favorite. It’s the kind of place you immediately want to return to. First of all, it’s beautiful. The bar at the entrance is perfectly designed and lit, with extraordinary chandeliers and a unique evening charm. The white tablecloths add a festive touch. Second, the teamwork is impeccable—every staff member greets you and is attentive at exactly the right moments. Third, the quality of the products, the techniques, and the ideas behind the dishes are outstanding. Hats off to the chef. Let’s start at the beginning: elegant silver settings, the softest tablecloth, and synchronized service as two waiters place dishes in unison. Crumbs are cleared instantly. Each couple is served their own basket of handmade sourdough bread and individual butter. Highlights of the evening included: • Tuna tartare — exquisite. • Lobster with onion — delightful. • Pike mousse — meltingly tender. • Buckwheat fried monkfish — clever, with both crispy batter and refreshing cucumber. We shared the grilled black bass and the duck with cherries and foie gras, both beautifully plated, so there was no need to stretch across the table. Desserts were a true celebration. Crème brûlée—though not on the menu—was legendary, served with crisp sugar-dusted breadsticks. The rum baba was a do-it-yourself joy: the bun, two types of rum to choose from, pineapple pieces, and whipped cream. The chocolate cake is a must: served with ice cream, and for us, decorated with a “Happy Anniversary” in chocolate—a lovely gesture! We also received madeleines in a basket, along with handmade truffles, meringues, and marmalade as a sweet treat. If anything could be improved, it’s the tea—served in bags of modest quality. But cocktails and wine were highly praised by our friends. Even the details are thoughtful: in the restroom, “Coucou” plays on repeat, and Aesop scrub soap is provided. Everything spotless. Interestingly, there is no music in the dining room itself—we only realized this as we were leaving. We wish you a second Michelin star—and when it comes, we’ll be back to celebrate it with you! Thank you for such a wonderful evening where everything came together perfectly.

We were given this as a gift and were blown away by the experience. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and at first glance let our eyes feast on the beautiful white table cloths with candles under large round chandelier like lights giving the place a warm glow. Our waiter was informative, attentive and funny as he carefully guided us on the multi course meal paired with wine. The sommelier was well educated on each wine and offered suggestions and information about the taste of each and the compliment it would add to each course. The wait staff accompanying each course were efficient and warm. The excitement of what the next course would be was fun anticipation and at first bite - a culinary experience. We ended with a glass of white port and were amazed that 2-1/2 hours had gone by. We definitely wanted it to go on longer but were filled to the brim! For those seeking a Michelin experience with incredible informative service we would highly recommend Le Coucou. This will be the dining experience that we will speak about for a lifetime!

Overall a great time but something that didn’t click for us early in the meal lowered our score and our overall recollection of the experience — let me explain. Everything started marvelously. Beautiful setting, open kitchen with tall French chef hats, impeccable and attentive service (exceptional service). for some context, we had initially come because we were visiting from Los Angeles and I had a hankering for French cuisine (which is sparse in LA). Le Coucou’s Michelin star was an enticing proposition, along with their Beef Tartare topped with Caviar. From most angles this places would rank highly: Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Drinks and Wine: 5/5 Desserts: 5/5 Main Courses: 4.5/5 It was the earlier parts of our dining selection that were confusing to us. The starters and the gourmandises were just not “our taste”. 1/5 Starting with the bread service — yum. Delicious fluffy warm sourdough. Then we moved to the Beef Tartar and the Leeks… the leeks were exceptional, very well prepared and presented. The beef tartar was well presented but we both found that while pleasing to look at, texturally not muchdynamism, and very salty. Because no shallots or textural contrast it was “rich / creamy” on top of “rich / creamy”. This was a theme for half of our time eating… truly unfortunate I didn’t like it because I really love beef tartar and the dish was beautiful. The gourmandises were, as Michelin says, “unapologetically French” which — again — is someone’s taste but I guess just not ours. Each dish seemed warm, “rich / chewy / creamy” which starts off the dinner quite heavy. The pike fish mousse with the lobster sauce was really not for us. It reminded me of a jello mold of fish with a very bubbly thick lobster sauce on top. Again, “rich / creamy / chewy”, and we left most on the plate. I was surprised the staff didn’t ask us about it, why we didn’t like it (especially after they recommended it as what the chef is known for) and then the Morilles Farcies dish (I think)… also sat as rich, creamy and chewy. Ultimately both weren’t to our liking. Interestingly, the other gourmandises option would likely have been the same — sweat breads with a thick sauce? Again too much rich, chewy, creamy... I suspected my dislike was possibly my Pacific / Asian palate… maybe I should have ordered the fish crudo / tartare dish they also had on menu (looks good, see other reviewers Google Photos). But my partner is half European and half Latina, and she agrees. For our Mains, we loved the duck served two ways and the sole / fish. So well prepared. Knowing what I know now I would go back — beautiful scene, gorgeous kitchen, great staff, world class wine selection, good bites here and there — I would just would avoid those dishes.

Located in SoHo, Le Coucou carries significant prestige and social media hype, bolstered by its Michelin-star status. Expectations were naturally high. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not align with that reputation. 🦴 The Os à Moelle (Roasted Bone Marrow) felt overwhelmingly rich and greasy, with the fat overpowering any nuanced flavor. After a few bites, it became difficult to continue. 🐟 The Quenelle de brochet, sauce américaine (Pike Quenelle with American/Lobster Sauce 🐟🦞) was the most memorable dish of the evening — though not in a positive way. The texture was extremely soft and mousse-like, and the combined intensity of the fish purée and shellfish-based sauce resulted in a pronounced seafood aroma. For diners unaccustomed to traditional French quenelle preparations, the flavor profile can feel quite heavy and overly fish-forward. Overall, nearly every course fell short of expectations, creating a noticeable gap between the restaurant’s acclaim and the actual execution. While the service staff were polite and professional, the pacing of the meal was considerably slow ⏳, which further affected the overall dining experience. Considering the pricing and reputation, I personally would not return nor recommend it to friends.
