The pork bahn mi sandwichhere was delicious. The baguette is very dense so it's very filling. The shrimp chips that it came were better than the taro fries upgrade which were starchy instead of crispy. There's a small indoor area and a few tables outside. It is located on a corner and there is a free parking lot that it shares with several other nearby businesses. Highly recommend if you love bahn mi's like I do.
If you like crispy fries, I recommend to try taro fries. It's kinda rare thing. They have also vegan dip if asked. It's on spicy side. We tried also chicken wings, they were also a bit hot but good. The vegan pho was very nice!
When we lived in Los Angeles 13 years ago, this was one of our favorite spots. Upon returning to visit family we made it a priority to stop by GG to enjoy our favorite dishes and drink; pork chops, beef pho, and basil lime elixir!! Our taste buds were not disappointed with their reunion. This time around we took it up a notch and finished off our meal with a slice of delicious black bottom banana cream pie!! Love this place!
Recommend Fried chicken wings with lemon sauce . It was so crazy delicious:)
I love this place. I have been going here since the month they opened. One of the best noodle dishes in silverlake. The Pho and noodles bowls are just good. The star of their menu are the Wok Tossed noodles. Perfect noodle dish. Salmon is just as good.
Gingergrass was great pho was delicious and lite wonderful outdoor setting my friends bahi mi sandwich was very flavorful
I love their food and ambiance...my son loved his pho which made it extra special :) definitely try their coconut black rice and interesting iced teas. Yummmmm
Wonderful Vietnamese food in a casual, chill setting across from Silver Lake library. Lovely staff. I love the grilled pork banh mi with taro fries.
Papaya Salad made hot as in (extra spicy) Minimal Calories Maximum Flavor...! A+++Personal Favorite...! Friendly Staff..! “Pet Friendly” (they actually bring water for your dog.) Busy with a friendly atmosphere...!..
Flavorful meal. Staff was great and friendly. I love the serving size ans how everything is served fresh.
Gingergrass: Silver Lake’s Hidden Gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ If you’re looking for Vietnamese food that hits every single mark, Gingergrass is it. My partner and I stopped by recently, and honestly? It was perfection from start to finish. The Highlights: Ahi Tuna Rolls: We kicked things off with these, and oh my god. You get four pieces of absolute deliciousness. Fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to wake up your palate. 🍣 The Banh Mi: I went for the Chicken Banh Mi while my partner opted for the Pork. Let me tell you—these sandwiches are massive. I came in hungry and I could still only finish half! The bread has that perfect crunch, and the fillings are generous and savory. 🥖 Whether you’re a local or just passing through Silver Lake, this spot is seriously deserving of all five stars. Incredible flavors, great portions, and just a stellar vibe. We’ll definitely be back for the second half of that sandwich!
Superb service and I’d say a very good option when you’re looking for a low-key spot, good for groups, moderate prices, and good food. It’s hard to find all of those in one place nowadays. I ordered the clay pot yellow curry, which I think is more Thai? Regardless, the dish was awesome. A little spicy and great flavor. My friends ordered all for Bahn mi sandwiches, I don’t think they’re super authentic? at least that’s what someone else had said, but, everyone enjoyed them nonetheless. The pickled radish and quality of beef was great. A group of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meal.
I’ve come here a few times, mostly for dinner, and it’s a great casual, quick spot. The outdoor patio is dog friendly. They have a few local beers on tap as well as a limited wine and cocktail list. They have a few vegetarian/vegan options, including the pho. The absolute best thing I’ve ordered was the Banh mi with grilled pork. The meat was outstanding, I’ll definitely be ordering again. Parking here is super easy - and it’s a quick stop after a stroll around the reservoir.

Not super authentic but tastes good regardless. I ordered delivery and the beef in pho came raw. Good thing I was at home and could reheat the broth to cook the beef. Beware if you are ordering delivery to an office and such. Portion of the pho is very small as you can see in the picture. The fried rice was okay. Flavorful but VERY oily.
My first time at the Gingergrass. Two types of iced tea (Green and Black). I ordered the Beef Pho. It was good. No complaints. The table service was excellent. Very attentive wait staff. Good parking on the back. I'll come back.
I had the chicken Pho. Superb broth, rich in flavor. Add perfectly cooked noodles, fresh veggies and lime wedges - yummy. Atmosphere is very casual, service excellent and friendly.

A pretty decent spot for some Asian/Vietnamese food. They have a good mix of classic dishes such as pho and rice platters. The service is friendly and they have lunch specials too. I ended up getting the "Animal Fries" which are a taro fries and a play on In-N-Out style of fries. Super crispy and playful. For my main, I got the Chicken Pho. It was not the best pho that I have had and the broth was subtle, but still good. Lastly, we got the Key Lime Bars. Super delicious, sweet and tangy! Overall, a nice low key place to get some food!

food is good but overpriced for the portion size. This is the only place where I can spend $40 on lunch and still be hungry. The prices on the menu dont add up the total bill I was charged. Either they've increased prices and havent updated their menus, or there's a surcharge that they're not upfront about. They bill you with a handheld card tapper so I didnt get to see anything my bill, only shown the screen for "do you want to tip 20 or 22%"
First off, this isn’t authentic Vietnamese food. I can tell the team is trying, and I respect the effort, but what’s being served here feels like a Westernized version meant to be approachable rather than true to its roots. It’s the kind of place where people feel like they’re experiencing Vietnamese culture without actually tasting the depth of it. Real Vietnamese food has layers of flavor, history, and care that you’ll find in places like Westminster. That’s where the dishes carry stories, not just spices. This restaurant feels more like a Vietnamese-inspired concept built for presentation rather than tradition. I ordered the vegan options to play it safe since I’m Vietnamese and wanted to give it a fair chance. The clay pot coconut curry was done well. It had warmth and comfort, even if the flavor profile was simplified. What left a stronger impression, though, was the service. It felt as if being vegan and double-checking ingredients was an inconvenience. There wasn’t much patience or understanding, which made the experience feel less welcoming. Overall, it’s not bad, but it’s not the real thing either. It’s a modern take that might please newcomers, but for those of us who grew up with these flavors, it feels like something important got lost in translation.

Finally tried them for takeout and it was lackluster at best. The mushroom skewers (see photo) is two mushroom caps, which weren't cooked - basically a room temperature cap with some sauce. The crispy tofu was greasy - likely partly due to packaging, however, very much was falling apart and just tasted like oil. But the really confusing part was the cold broken dry white rice; it tasted like leftover rice that sat for hours and was maybe attempted to be reheated? Perhaps these items are better in person, but definitely avoid the takeout rice...
