Opiniones de Rick's Chop House Allen
The best steak I've had in a long time. It was so tender and cooked to medium like requested. I ate every single thing on this plate. I absolutely love it when money is spent on a dish I absolutely enjoyed. The server Kyle was our waiter he was amazing. Thank you Rick's chop house for an amazing experience.
My fiancé won a giftcard to this restaurant so we made our way up to Mckinney to check it out and to celebrate our birthdays and recent engagement. This place did NOT disappoint! Definitely recommend getting a reservation. We enjoyed the atmosphere and historic vibes that Rick's offered. There is first come, first served street parking since it sits in the square of downtown Mckinney, but there is a free public parking lot very close by that we took advantage of. For dinner, we both ordered the filet which came with mashed potatoes and garlic green beans, as well as extra sides to try (Brussel sprouts & carrots). Our server, Ross, was very attentive, friendly, told us their current specials, and made us feel like family at Rick's. The food came out very quick, which we were surprised since we ordered steak, but it was all fresh and hot! The food was full of flavor and perfectly cooked, our water was never once low thanks to the additonal wait staff. I'd also like to recognize the outstanding managers and their contribution to the evening. One manager stopped by to personally wish us happy birthdays, another stopped by when he saw my wine was empty and asked if I wanted a refill. It was a nice change of pace to see management truly embrace all aspects of customer service so much kudos to Rick's. We closed the night with our birthdays desserts (I chose the cheesecake and he chose the apple pie with ice cream ), both amazing! We can't rave enough about Rick's and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new place to try out. We will be back!
If you really want to experience McKinney, not just the city, but the love, and pure heart of it all... Here it is. Rick, and the staff, put nothing but love, care and faith, into the food and building, which is so rich in heritage, and history. A forever staple of downtown, and what good, simple food should be. Forever, a fan. This place feels like family, everytime you walk in. Well done, Rick.
We went to celebrate my birthday.. Delicious food and was good service. The only problem being is that we had reservations for 2 weeks prior. We actually ended up waiting for nearly an hour because another couple didn't finish their dessert in a timely manner and we were told that we needed to wait to have their table. I think they should have made provisions for that. I saw tables available so, I'm really unsure as to why we couldn't get seated it in a shorter time.
I brought my husband here for his Bday, everything was perfect. Our server Joey , absolutely amazing. The pork belly appetizer, tender with a perfect blueberries gastric. The poach pear salad , light and refreshing. Steak cooked perfect delicious and tender. Cauliflower steak with the risotto, the flavors were on point. Definitely will be back! If you've never been to Rick's, go now! Its worth it.
I visited Rick’s Chophouse for the first time a couple of months ago and brought my special needs nephew and his caregiver. It was a Sunday. The brunch spread was amazing! There was something for everyone ( all three of us have dietary restrictions). The staff were lovely to my nephew! At one point he exclaimed, ”I’m so happy!!!” It brought tears of joy to my eyes! I am so grateful to our servers and to the manager for their kindness and compassion. Oh, and the food is top tier, by the way!😆 Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes from their extensive menu!
We spent a gorgeous weekday afternoon in downtown McKinney enjoying the warm fall weather. We stopped at Rick’s Chophouse for a midafternoon late lunch/early dinner and chose to sit outside, which was delightful. Joey, our server, went above and beyond during our leisurely meal. He first thanked us for choosing a locally owned eatery to patronize and gave us a little background on the restaurant. He knew we were in no hurry and gave us space and time, but never let our water glasses go empty. In other words, Joey was on the ball. My wife ordered a cup of acorn squash soup and I added a salad to my chicken fried steak order to have while she slurped her soup. CFS is a meal I rarely order as one never knows how good the beef will be, but I thought it would be ok at this rather high end eatery. The green beans and mashed potatoes included with the steak were both delicious and plentiful. The breading on the steak was crispy and quite tasteful. Unfortunately the steak itself was about a quarter inch thick, very tough, and overcooked. My wife attested that her fried catfish was good and the coleslaw was unusual, but very tasty. The salad I had was so good and so much, that Joey boxed up most of my main course for me and presented it to me in a nice tote bag. Our experience at Rick’s Chophouse and our server, Joey, was quite enjoyable. Just avoid the Chicken Fried Steak.
The best restaurant on the square in Downtown McKinney! The food is very good & flavorful! Love their bar area with live music on the weekends as well! Overall, the lunch menu serves a variety of options. The staff and atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly. This time we had the: >Crab dip with delicious, warm, seasoned tortilla chips >Chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes >Wedge salad >Key Lime pie >Blueberry cheesecake
We have been to Rick’s several times and it’s always great! This time we went to celebrate our daughter’s 18th birthday. Emily, our server, was amazing! Jerome, host/concierge, was a great communicator for our reservation and made sure our balloon bouquet was set up and ready to surprise our daughter when she arrived. I couldn’t be more pleased with our experience! A bonus surprise, seeing an old friend who works there! Sasha is an incredible woman and such a ray of sunshine! Make sure you go and enjoy the delicious food and outstanding service!
We went to Rick’s for a birthday and the highlight of the night was the service. Excellent staff and management always there for anything you need. The food was delicious. The sides were the highlight for us. The basil potato side was outstanding, delicate texture, pesto-like flavor. Potatoes au gratin were perfectly prepared. The street corn had a slight spice along with the creamy sauce. I’d say I was least impressed with the steak unfortunately. Perhaps it was the cut I got but it wasn’t the most tender I’ve had. The flavor was on point, but at a steak house like this you’d hope the steak would steal the show. Still 5 stars for the amazing, special experience.
I have eaten at Rick’s Chophouse for the past 4 years. For the past 3 years, I have celebrated my anniversary here and enjoyed the free dessert treat they offer. I recently celebrated my 20th anniversary here, had the shrimp and grits with a spicy margarita, which was delicious. I have also tried their brunch which is one of my favorite things from this restaurant. It is definitely a place where I will continue dining for memorable moments.
We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was a great choice! The restaurant had a very romantic feel, even though it was busy. Everyone was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Our waiter recommended some dishes, and we ordered the Elk and the Buffalo Tenderloin. The Elk was amazing—1000/10! It came with mushrooms and was unlike anything I’ve ever had. I’d come back just for that. The Buffalo Tenderloin was also good, but not as special. They even gave my wife a complimentary dessert for her birthday, which was really nice. Overall, a great night with great food and service. We’ll definitely be back!
My daughter took me to dinner last night. This was my first time at this restaurant even though I've lived in McKinney for 21 years. My daughter has been here before and she knew I would like it, I love a good steak dinner. I didn't realize she had told them that we were celebrating me being cancer free. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May and recently completed treatment. I have to say it's probably one of the best meals I've had! We started with the Crab Cake appetizer, I had the Filet with green beans and potatoes. My daughter had the NY Strip with Spinach and potatoes. Afterwards, they brought me the Rustic Apple Pie with Bourbon ice cream. I have not one negative thing to say. It could not have been a better experience.
From the moment we stepped into Rick's Chop House, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a family dinner. We chose to dine on the patio, where the weather was absolutely perfect, allowing us to enjoy a delightful evening of people-watching in the square. To start, we indulged in the crab cake appetizer, which was a true standout! The cakes were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. For our mains, I opted for the prime rib cooked medium rare, and it was simply divine, tender, juicy, and full of flavor, paired beautifully with perfectly seasoned potatoes and grilled veggies. My husband chose the porterhouse, also medium rare, and he was equally impressed; the meat was cooked just right, with a delicious sear and excellent flavor. Our son couldn't get enough of the mac and cheese, which was creamy and comforting, making it a hit at the table. We also enjoyed some delightful Mexican corn, which added a unique twist to our meal. Overall, Rick's Chop House exceeded our expectations. The combination of delicious food, fantastic service, and a lovely atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening. We can't wait to return!

Excellent food and service. Went in with no expectations. Left with nothing but praise. Delicious filet, asparagus and garlic whipped potatoes. Isn’t cheap but great food and service seldom is.
Excellent food perfect service and great atmosphere. The restaurant is preserved in it's art Deco style and the prices are reasonable
We had such a great time at our family brunch on Sunday! Our server, Sarah, was incredibly kind, warm, and observant - it's your lucky day if you get seated in her section!! Cost was very reasonable and tremendous value. Highly recommend, especially for a special occasion, but be sure to reserve a table in advance.
The little things become big things at this price point. The Ahi tuna appetizer, the wedge salad, the elk, and the crème brûlée were the best items ordered by our group. Negatives: onion rings too salty, no one offered to find fourth member of our group a seat in the bar, when we initially checked in with the host, she said you need to be back up here when it is time for your reservation….. my thought weare going to be in The Bar spending money. Maybe you could come and get us? Someone in A suit in Thai came by our table to check on us. He said how are you doing? Do you need anything? How about another drink? So one of our party asked for another drink. It did not show up even after 15 minutes lol….. we had to ask again for it. They tiniest ladies toilet is just kind of silly. Maybe it should be marked for children or short ladies only!! I was hoping to consume a Landon Winery Cabernet reserve that evening, but I was told they only sell the Land and Winery Temperanillo.
It's fine Texan restaurant with good variety of cuisines. Stake house, fine bbq place. Food is fresh and delicious. Not regular Texas portion though 😉. A bit pricy but makes up the quality and atmosphere. It's a quiet, dimmed light ambience inside for maybe romantic date night. Indoor and outdoor seating. Better to secure a table by reservation. Service was responsive and quick. Accessible with flat entry and wide routes. Not good for kids for sure. Good for couples, date nights, small groups and gathering.

Celebrated a birthday here. I decided to try them out because the reviews seemed to be decent although not as high as I would have liked. I was expecting an upscale experience. The location is nice and since it was around the holidays the location was decorated and comfy. The service was good. The food was subpar and did not really meet the expectation. Considering the price the food should be a bit more generous on the plate. The portions were out of proportion of the price. The New York strip was ok but was not cooked medium it was undercooked. It needed to be cooked a little more because it was not cooked properly. I did mention it and they attempted to fix it. At this point it was overcooked and when I took the rest home to rewarm it was not enjoyable. The shaved bacon brussel sprout portion should have been more than 3 to 4 tablespoons. The baked potatoe was good. The two shrimp that come with the steak was the best part, perfectly cooked, plump, and fresh. This is the reason I gave it 3 stars. I have had some really good steak dinners and this one just did not quite meet the expectation of experience.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing Birthday celebration last Sunday. When I made reservations a week prior they told us we had to make reservations in the front but could get a table in the back bar dining if available on day of arrival. No reservations in back. The receptionist said great, we will celebrate your birthday next weekend. We found a table and couch in the back with couches and silverware on the table. I asked the bartender if we could sit there. She said there were only 2 bartender’s working but we didn’t realize we would get minimal service by sitting at that table. It should have been explained better and told to us that for attentive service we needed a different table in the bar. We had a party of four and we had to get up and remind the staff we were still waiting on drinks 10 to 15 minutes later. It was Brunch so we helped ourselves to the buffet. We only required cocktails. When we arrived she did wish me a happy birthday after my husband mentioned it. There was no birthday cake brought to us at the end. We were expecting a great time but our conversation with our family couldn’t flow because we were always getting up to get help. We love the atmosphere but they apparently need more help in the back. We went down the street to Lone Star Winery and they offered a piece of raspberry cheesecake to celebrate my birthday! We finally had our celebratory moment. Thank you, Lone Star Winery!!!
I really wanted to enjoy our dinner at Rick’s Chophouse, and a lot of the experience was good — but the kitchen missed the mark in a big way. My wife ordered the scallops and a spinach salad, and both were excellent. Our server was attentive, friendly, and did everything right. The front-of-house experience genuinely felt like the level of service Rick’s is known for. But my entrée — a filet — was a major disappointment. Not once, but twice, it came out undercooked. After sending the first one back, they brought out a replacement that wasn’t even a filet, and that one was undercooked as well. At a place with this reputation and price point, that’s unacceptable. The service team tried, but ultimately the kitchen failed to deliver a quality entrée, and it dragged down the whole experience. With how many great restaurants there are in McKinney, I expected better consistency and attention to detail.
What an odd mix of experiences in one meal. I took my husband here for our anniversary. Let me explain why I only gave three stars for food--the array of dishes had highs and lows and the average just came out to be...average. But there were highlights and lowlights. Highlights: I ordered elk and it was cooked perfectly. The green beans were excellent. The gratin that came with it was meh--slightly undercooked. My husband's prime rib was also cooked perfectly and the jus was lovely. The dessert (apple galette with bourbon ice cream) was really nice. Not too sweet, pastry was perfectly cooked, apples were not overcooked and there was a nice hint of spice in there. Lowlights: So, this is my fault for ordering oysters in August, but my husband wanted oysters. These were from PEI, according to our server. They were tiny, and one of them had grit--like, seriously, inexcusable grit. I included a photo of the oyster to show you how incredibly tiny these were for the $14/4 rate they charge. I guess they charge extra for grit. It's ridiculous. The shrimp cocktail had nice quality shrimp but they decided to douse it in what appeared to be some kind of Creole spice blend? It tasted like Tony Chachere's. I wanted to actually taste the shrimp. Now we get to service, which was...inconsistent. We had multiple people helping us but they didn't appear to listen to each other so it was kind of chaotic (the dining room was not full, either); it felt both rushed and also disorganized at the same time. Halfway through the meal we realized we had a piece of old carpet stapled to the bottom of our table, which confused us so I asked the server, and he said he'd never looked under the table and he would find out for us (apparently it is to "keep pantyhose from ripping."). So that was weird. Finally, I took some issue with the odd little unlabeled atomizers at each table which (when I asked the server) I was informed are hand sanitizer, but it's rubbing alcohol mixed with peppermint oil, so basically you're going to smell only mint if you use this stuff before you eat, so do not spray from the bottles. I don't want to smell mint when I'm about to eat seafood and meat--I just washed my hands in the bathroom before I ate.
