Yum! This place is top notch. Lovely change of pace and scenery if staying in Austin and is definitely worth the quick trip for an evening. I had the salmon and it was fantastic...also had the chocolate cake for dessert and that was also delish! I would come here every time I come back to Austin
I can not explain in words how delicious my meal was at the Blind Salamander restaurant. I attached an image of my salmon meal as well as the lobster mac and cheese which was to die for. The serving was large which allowed me to take home leftovers that was just as good for lunch the next day! Chef Francisco Baca is a genius. The service from Will was impeccable and the manager Michael was amazing with his table touches. Thank you to the entire team for an enjoyable evening!
1 WORD. AMAZING!!! It was my birthday and I have never been to a restaurant where I was catered to so much. The manager Michael is amazing & also our server will! If I could could give 10 stars I would. The shrimp cocktail - OMG…. The redfish.. crab mac n cheese… could not recommended more!
We spent a wonderful night at Blind Salamander! The drinks were fabulous, loved the chart!!! And the food was amazing. Service was slow but we didn’t mind it. Food: 1. Oysters: we chose MA oysters beach plum oysters, they were so fresh. 2. Ahi Tartare: the sauce was amazing and it was so fresh 3. Jumbo shrimp cocktail: the shrimp was fresh, the cocktail sauce was really good 4. Blackened Texas Redfish: it was very flavorful and delicious 5. Lobster Mac'n cheese: it was good and creamy 6. Molten chocolate cake: it was really good Drinks: 1. Smooth flight: my favorite drink of the night, very unique 2. Spiced old fashioned: my husband’s favorite drink, the whiskey wasn’t over powering 3. Strawberry peppercorn gin & tonic: I am not a gin & tonic girl but I still really enjoyed it 4. Apple pear whiskey sour: it was good, but my husband’s least favorite 5. Rock star martini: it was very flavorful and different 6.Scottish mule: it was very refreshing We enjoyed every dish. Can’t wait to try them on a warmer day and be able to sit outside. They are a little bit pricey, but really good.
Delicious dinner complete with hill country views and vibes 😍🥰🤤 Incredibly friendly staff who walked us thru the menu and helped us to order dishes we'd enjoy. We shared an appetizer and main course. Wine pairings was a phenomenal addition to dinner. We didn't feel rushed at all and were able to relax and enjoy our time. It was my wife's birthday and she was given the choice of a dessert. She decided on a creme brulee which was just exquisite. Luckily she couldn't eat it all and I got to get a few bites too 🫠😏 Everything was perfect. We hung out here for a couple more glasses afterward before making our short walk to the room. Great restaurant inside a hotel. Seems like some people make the drive to have dinner here who aren't staying at the resort. Would recommend and come back again.
My wife and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and we requested a special meal. Oh boy did they not disappoint. The chef prepared a special 7 course meal just for us!! With a special menu! And man the food was absolutely fantastic!! In addition, the drinks were superb and paired really well with the food. Service was top notch and very well attended, Stephen is phenomenal! We’re both fans and will surely be back :-)
This review won't be able to do the restaurant and service justice, but here we go. We were treated with amazing service as soon as we arrived at the check-in stand with Michael, who led us to our table. Our server Will was absolutely incredible, and very knowledgeable on all the cocktails and wine. He recommended a few different drinks which were all extremely tasty. Will let us know the specials of the day and you could tell he knew the menus and ingredients. We ended up ordering the oysters of the day, shrimp cocktail, ahi tartare, tomato bisque, burrata, carrots and salmon dip which we shared family style. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but it was worth every single bite! Chef Francisco came out and personally checked in with us to see how we were liking everything and he sent out a couple desserts which were so delicious! Do not sleep on the creme brûlée! We ended the night with some tasty champagne, I can't wait for my next visit!
The Good: Just about everything. Probably my favorite meal I have had since moving to Austin. Period. Fun, inventive, and flavorful. And our server was so attentive and pleasant. Afterwards we got to go out and roast marshmallows which was so much fun. The Meh: I mean can you even say "price" at a place like this? You know what you're getting into in any hotel restaurant. So yes it was a shock when the bill came, but yes, we expected it. Definitely worth it for a special date night.
Excellent meal at the Blind Salamander! First, the service was top notch. Will was so attentive and made our dining experience even better. The cocktails were fresh and delicious. Oysters were amazing and bread was so good. Our mains were the evening special which was a fish with homemade pasta, it was phenomenal, and the filet which was also fantastic. Overall highly recommended this place for delicious food, service and great views.
Food is exceptional, service is beyond attentive, recommended 100%.
Love this place. Best chefs ever and nice staff.
Great restaurant.friendly staff. Good chef.
Everything that we ordered was delicious.
Just do the oysters and Buretta salad!
Great spot for a quick bite to eat
Delicious! Very tasty
Awesome place for breakfast!
Great !
Quality dining in style
Had dinner here and was delighted with the food and service. They don't have many vegetarian options, but we are in Texas. I had the Caeser Salad and the Roasted Cauliflower and it was great. My server was super friendly and helpful!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. Our server Barry really deserves 6 stars, as well as the manager who personally came by to check on us. Even if the food had been below average we’d still return simply for the service and people. The “Old Cuban” cocktail is my new favorite anywhere. The cocktail menu in general is one of the most intricate and well thought out I’ve encountered. The oysters were fresh and well presented with a number of house made sauces as opposed to just tarter and horse radish as most places do. The house hot sauce and blood orange sauce were fantastic. My wife and I split the Butcher cut burger along with Lobster Mac and Cheese and Seared Yellowfin. All deserve 5 stars. After dinner there are fire pits and a large balcony to finish the night. We’ll be back very very soon.
We made this our one splurge meal (also one to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary) during our spring break stay at the resort and was not disappointed! Had our family with kiddo & baby and our waiter Will could not have been more kind & accommodating with getting our son’s order in and served in minutes as well as reccs for everything. My grapefruit cocktail and husband’s old fashioned were fantastic, and this was, no exaggeration, the best Caesar salad I have had in my life. Filet and scallops for our meals, molten lava cake and creme brulee for dessert (enormous!), all wonderful.
We ate here during our stay at the Omni Barton Creek. The food was amazing but what made our experience was our waiter Ken. This man is by far the very best server we have ever had at any restaurant. Excellent food and drink recommendations and excellent attention to detail. I felt like we were eating at a friend’s house instead of a restaurant. We had such a pleasant experience we ate there again the next night. He instantly recognized us, called us by name and remembered our drink preferences. If you decide to eat here, ask to sit in Ken’s section. You will not be disappointed with your experience.
We sat outside over looking the golf course and putting green. Beautiful! Food was great. Service spot on.
Hidden gem in the Omni Barton Creek hotel. Everything we tried was a delicious combination of taste, texture, and presentation. To cap a delicious meal off; my wife and I highly recommend the passion fruit cake - unreal!
Staying at this resort for conference and our grp went to eat here for din din. It was quite a large grp (15) or so. Had appetizers that were shared, salads and then main course. Had the Red fish and it was 😋😋😋. I'm usu taking pics but didn't this time b/c of lots of conversation at the table. Our servers were very attentive. Had dessert and I went str8 for my fave - crem brulee; was on point....
Came here with my wife last night and I have to say this is one of the best restaurants in Austin, both in service and food. We had the sea bass, white fish dip, spinach salad, mac n chesse with lobster, wagyu ribs and chocolate molten cake. Everything was 5 stars.
Decent food. Salad was a bit salty and the risotto was a bit under salted but overall an enjoyable meal. Thanks for being open during Thanksgiving!
Excellent service and very impressive menu for a resort. Almost all seafood which was fresh, well prepared, and beautifully plated.
Amazing food & service along with some beautiful views. More locals should come here for a romantic date night/day. Exceeded expectations.
We had a wonderful time at Blind Salamander. Food was delicious and Will our server/bartender was outstanding!
Great menu options , food was delicious and view was amazing
Great food and service with with a beautiful view of the golf course. Limited menu that they do well.
Any time I come here and visit Allie she never fails to make the experience great! The $5 grande margs till 7 are such a great deal too!!
Kp makes the best Margaritas if you see her there definitely go to her for your drink orders!
Amazing meal and service. A favorite for my family when looking for an upscale dining experience!
Fabulous, fresh, beautiful views, great menu and delicious food!
We had a delightful experience here and our server Courtney was very helpful.
We went to celebrate an anniversary and Martin at the bar was absolutely the best part of the experience. He had FANTASTIC energy, amazing recommendations and made us feel so warm and welcome. If you come to the Blind Salamander… ask for Martin at the bar!!!!
The service was fantastic. From the moment I arrived, without a reservation the exemplary service was poured out on me. The hostess was very personable. She even remembered my name when I left.. Barry, my server was excellent. He took the time to describe the dishes and most ingredients. He ensured my meal was cooked per my request. The food was great. I had the salmon, carrots, and the reimagined peach Melba. The views were spectacular. I was given the choice of indoor dining or outdoor dining. It was dusk and just incredible. I recommend this restaurant.
We always eat here when we stay for a weekend getaway and the server we had, names Will, has the been the best service so far! He was funny, on point and knew his stuff! He added to the already great and delicious evening with friends! The food is always amazing as I’ve liked everything I’ve tried. We normally drink wine but the cocktails sounded so interesting I had will pick one for me and it did not disappoint!
Love this place already! The drinks and food are unique and tasty. The atmosphere is really nice with 2 stories and a bar, indoor/outdoor seating on each floor. Look for KP as your bartender! She knows what she’s doing and she has a great personality. She will make sure you have a great time. I recommend the Pina Rita’s so yummy!
The restaurant is inside the omni. The food was amazing and the service spectacular! Everything recommended was spot on and perfect for what we wanted. This is a great place for a special date or get together with friends. The spiced old fashion was a hit at the table.
This places is hidden in the center of Resort with amazing patio with great views. You pay a lot for the food which is missing spices, yet oversalted, then coming out late and seems like you don’t get premium cut. Cocktails are just ok, wine selection good. While servers were kind, service was slow and food majorly delayed. Not even busy day. Overall overpaid experience.
Our night here was mediocre. We were staying at the resort, so it was convenient. We made reservations for 7:15 on a Saturday night. Service was incredibly spotty- they were slammed and understaffed. We sat at the table for at least 10 min before receiving menus. Took another while to get waters. The food was ehh. My filet was good, but definitely not the same quality of other $58 filets I’ve had. Our waiter, who was the bartender (no, we weren’t in the bar section), was incredibly nice. The scallops weren’t cooked properly, and the redfish entree was “ehh.” This was definitely not worth the $300+ tab we had. In a city known for food and culinary scene, skip this and try something else.
I wanna start by saying I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, and the halibut was great. But I guess it's dissapointing to see someone still selling foie gras in 2024. It just seems cruel to force feed a cute little duck. Hopefully they update their menu bc I really would like to come back sometime.
Disappointing service, no one checked back with us about our meals or if we wanted another drink. Half of our order was missed. While the food received was good, the lack of service eclipsed the experience. Would choose to spend my time and money elsewhere in the future.
8/10 vibe 7/10 margs 0/10 food. You can’t call a cup of corn elote, and I think the fish tacos were fish sticks.
A Nightmarish Dining Experience at Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar Our recent visit to Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar was nothing short of an abysmal dining experience. From start to finish, the meal was an exercise in absurdity, and I must say, the only redeeming feature was the polite and attentive waitstaff. The evening began with a glimmer of hope in the form of the starter bread, which, to our dismay, turned out to be the pinnacle of the culinary offerings. We ordered the duck, anticipating a delightful dish, only to be met with the most repugnant flavor imaginable. The sauce accompanying the duck had a bizarre, plastic-like consistency that was impossible to ignore, and the black rice emitted an unbearable stench. It seems the chef has a heavy hand with the salt shaker, as everything—and I do mean everything—was overwhelmingly salty. My onion soup starter was essentially a bowl of brine. The scallops, which we hoped would be a delicate delight, were instead an assault on the palate with their excessive saltiness. Even the side dishes did not escape this travesty; the potatoes were inedible due to the sheer amount of salt. The pasta, while somewhat decent, could not salvage the meal. It was the one dish that managed to escape the over-salting, but it was far from remarkable. Our descent into culinary despair continued with the desserts. The cheesecake tasted as if it had been extruded from a cardboard box, with a distinctly chemical aftertaste that none of us could stomach. Despite the horrendous food, the waitstaff were exemplary. Their professionalism and courtesy were the sole highlights of an otherwise disastrous evening. It is truly unfortunate that their efforts were overshadowed by the appalling quality of the food. In summary, Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar was a profound disappointment. The dishes ranged from mediocre to inedible, and the pervasive saltiness ruined what could have been a pleasant dining experience. I sincerely hope that the management takes these critiques to heart and makes significant improvements. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a satisfying meal.
I really hate writing bad reviews, especially for this place since I’ve been a long-time member of the club. But here goes… Overall, the food was just bland, and in a few cases, downright unpleasant. Shrimp Cocktail The shrimp tasted like it came straight out of a frozen bag - practically icy, rubbery, and with that unpleasant “ocean” taste no one wants. The cocktail sauce tasted fermented, and the smell was so strong my guests asked for it to be taken away immediately. I can’t believe I put that in my mouth. Lamb Cutlets They arrived almost cold. I honestly questioned whether they were even cooked fully or just reheated. No flavor at all. The sauce was gamey in a bad way, and the vegetables were strange and unappetizing. Easily one of the most disappointing lamb dishes I’ve had. Other Steaks The steaks at the table were about as average as it gets - the kind of thing you’d expect from a basic chain restaurant, not a high-end resort dining room. Minimal seasoning, nothing memorable, and definitely not worth the premium price tag. For what they charge, the steaks should be miles better. Kids’ Food Not great. Kids are honest food critics - if it’s good, they eat it. None of it was touched. This place desperately needs someone to step in and actually care. It feels like they rely on the nonstop flow of resort guests who eat here once and move on, so there’s no pressure to deliver consistent quality. It’s sad, because the location is incredible and the view is one of the best in Austin. But the food? It’s bad. This was my second time giving it a chance, and now I remember exactly why I didn’t go back sooner. And the price? $600 for four adults and four kids. For food this mediocre, that’s a joke. Wouldn’t recommend - and it genuinely pains me to say that
Went there today for lunch only my second time eating there and both times were awful. The first time we went they ran out of practically everything. They didn’t even have tortillas for their tacos and they ran out of sugar and nectar berry all they had was salt. Then this time, one of the bartender’s was eating behind the bar and when she came back to make drinks she didn’t wash her hands. The bartenders were not friendly or helpful at all and the food was awful. We won’t be returning we wasted a bunch of money and actually didn’t eat most of it because it was so awful. So we went to Torchy’s instead. Torchy’s is the top taco place for me.
I had lunch there during a conference in June 2019. The bill I got was $17.32, I added gratuity to a total of $21, which includes a more than 20% tip. However, on my credit card it was changed as $24. I was in a hurry so I didn't write the exactly amount of the tip. It only takes one dishonest waiter to ruin your experience. I sent a complaint to the management but never got any reply.
First time here was extremely disappointing. And I really had high hopes. I visited this place in the middle of the day and there were only two other people in the restaurant. So not busy at all. After ordering food I excitedly bumped into the tray and it fell on the floor and made a very loud clanging noise. Both bartenders seemed totally unaware of their surroundings. Maybe they heard the noise and thought I would just go away if they didn’t say anything. So that was what I did. Management: Please hire kids who can be professional. I would never recommend this joint to my friends.
