Opiniones de Medici Roasting Austin
While visiting Austin I went to Medici on a recommendation from a friend. The service was great and the coffee was even better. It was smooth and flavorful, not bitter or burnt at all. They really know how to treat coffee. I was also impressed that the experience was the same at two different locations. Great job Caffé Medici.
Everyone here is so sweet, drinks are fully customizable and so yummy. All of the food is great too. Amazing atmosphere, great to study at or do work, and good wifi!
Cafe Medici really emulates the Italian cafe experience. The quality and taste of the espresso and cappuccino is superb. Great place to study and enjoy an espresso with a pastry. What is unique of Medici is unlike typical American cafes, they serve sparkling water with the espresso to cleanse the palate as is traditional in Italy. For Austin, this cafe deserves a 5 out of 5!
Large, open multi-area split level space. They don't accept Android Pay yet! Do accept credit card payments with Square. Lots of UT Austin students cramming, chilling, and getting wired on good coffee! They have eco concious sugar options, and honey. Cool place to cool out and get work done in an active part of downtown.
Lovely coffee shop with lots of seats for 1 or 2 people. The staff seem happy to let you hang out and work on a laptop, so long as you've bought a coffee or food. It's nicely cool inside, with a few outdoor seats at the front. Espresso was okay. Either over-extracted or the water was too hot, making it bitter.
Super packed with students but still nice. Possibly the biggest coffee shop I’ve ever been in. The baristas were very nice (even though I was indecisive and annoying) and got my order out quickly. It can be a little loud if you’re planning on studying just due to the number of people. I got a dirty chai and it was pretty good. Not cheap but sizes are big and it seems quality.
Not only is this a super chill place to have a magnificent cup of anything, but the location is just great. You can walk there from UT in minutes and it's really not that far from downtown either, if you're up for it. The soundtrack here is always ace. I've been astonished year on year when visiting at how lovely the musical selection is. Haven't been disappointed by drink nor by treat and I can't wait to visit again.
I am lucky because whenever I'm in Austin, I would be next door to this cafe. Coffee is amazing, and they have a variety of dairy-free options, such as oat or almond milk. If you like coffee and you are in Austin, this is the place to go. It is also super friendly and perfect for a short break. Usually full of students from the close by university.
2 story coffeehouse!! The live comedy nights here are fantastic. They're in the upstairs part, so the "coffee shop noises" don't get in the way. In terms of espresso drinks, they are well made, and delicious. I recommend stopping by if you're near West Campus and the Drag area! This area is getting "gentrified," too, so it's not all bad!!
Ordered Double espresso macchiato, Iced with oat milk/brown sugar. Not a menu item, but Sophia was very helpful to make the drink exactly as I described. It was a great interaction, and the drink was perfect! I will stop by Medici roasting again when I am in the area.
I met a friend there who was on campus for coffee and a chat. Nice atmosphere, fast service for his busy they were, good iced coffee. We sat outside which was nice but the interior had a great vibe if it hadn’t been so full. I did not attempt to park nearby.
So far so good! Only been in summer when the crowds are out of town and I can grab a seat with a great people watching view. Coffee and bagel options are solid! Keep showing up too late, though, to get my hands on those Taco Deli breakfast tacos.
This place has some of the best lattes in the UT austin campus area. The vibes inside are beautiful with the brick walls and black metal accents, and the staff is friendly and attentive to everyone walking in. Highly recommend if you need a caffeine boost or need a place to study.
This place was so pretty, like the vibe was amazing, and the matcha was the best thing I’ve ever had, and the cashier was so sweet and pretty, this place made my trip to Austin like the best experience, I’m definitely gonna go back when I have the chance!!
It's a chain but the coffee is good.
Oh my goodness, where do I even begin with my glowing review of Medici Coffee? From start to finish, my experience there was nothing short of delightful, and that's all thanks to the amazing Jenna! Let me just say, the coffee itself is absolutely delicious. I ordered a latte with almond milk, and it was so smooth and flavorful, I almost couldn't believe it. But what really made my visit stand out was Jenna's incredible customer service. She greeted me with the biggest smile and a warm welcome, and took the time to ask me about my day and recommend some of her favorite menu items. Not only did Jenna make sure my coffee was perfect, but she also went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and appreciated. She offered me a complimentary biscotti and even took the time to sit and chat with me for a bit. Her positive energy was contagious and made my day so much brighter. I also have to mention the beautiful ambiance of the cafe. The decor is modern and chic, with lots of natural light and cozy seating options. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy my coffee. Overall, I cannot recommend Medici Coffee enough, and it's all thanks to the wonderful Jenna. Her exceptional customer service and positive attitude truly made my visit unforgettable. Thank you, Jenna and Medici Coffee, for providing such a fantastic experience!
Medici is great! From LA and just spent some time in another city where finding good coffee was not easy. This place not only has great coffee, but a great atmosphere and the staff are awesome. Loved the espresso over ice and the cold brew!! Haven’t tried the breakfast yet, but I’ll be going back for sure!
Excellent coffee and friendly baristas! Loved the space, very open and a great place to study or get some work done. Tons of seating and easy parking which is a plus!
The baristas who are here Sunday morning do a great job!
It was my first time there, and the customer service and coffee were both fabulous! The barista was very knowledgeable, explained the difference between how they make a macchiato and a latte in house, which helped me figure out what to order compared to what I’d order at any other coffee shop. Service was fast and the space was clean, lots of seating available. I’ll definitely be back! Thanks y’all!
Love the coffee and how much seating is available. This is definitely a college hangout spot but that didn’t compromise the quality of the coffee and pastries. This is a nice place to have a good conversation with a friend if you find yourself near UT and the ambience and atmosphere are very inviting and friendly. I would definitely come back!
No arrogant baristas here! Richard, the manager, is so knowledgeable and kind!!!! Amazing coffee, quiet ambience, Medici Coffee had been in business for over 20 years for a reason! Make yourself a favor and don't waste money and time trying to find a great overall coffee experience in Austin visiting all the new places! Map it out and find a Medici Coffee near you!
This is my go to coffee shop by UT campus! I have been coming here for a few years and it's always a great time there. Great atmosphere, awesome baristas, delicious coffee. Slightly expensive, but that's Austin. Don't skip out on the Medici! Great place to catch a coffee with a friend, or sit down and study!
I didn't stay to try their stuff. I just passed by looking for someone. But the place looks wonderful. A place i would definitely come to spend a couple of hours. Its cozy and nice looking. Mostly students from the University of Texas hang out here. Pretty girls are found here!!!❤️💋 (I'm also a lady but I'm also attracted to the and ) this place is full of "eye candy"!💋💋💋💋💋
Great place to get a cup of Joe and study. The service is very friendly and the space is a vibe.
I've been coming here once a week as a little pick me up after I meet with my therapist who works off of UT campus. It is always clean and smells nice in here, the baristas are kind and respectful and always playing something interesting on the speakers. The vibes downstairs differ from those upstairs, one being quieter and one being more sociable and noisy, so it's nice to have two different options depending on your mood. There is charm and character to the inside with wood paneling and real wooden tables and chairs and a real brick wall. Very cozy industrial. The coffee has never disappointed me, it's coffee! And they have a GREAT selection of food and treats available throughout the day. Would recommend it as a place to stop if you're looking for coffee in and around guad and the campus.
Medici Coffee Shop on Guadalupe is a revelation—a tranquil oasis amid the city's relentless pace. As you step inside, you’re immediately embraced by an ambiance that effortlessly melds vintage elegance with a modern twist. The aroma of freshly roasted coffee permeates the air, inviting you to pause and savor the moment like a cherished interlude from the ordinary. The true heartbeat of this establishment, however, is Molly. With an uncanny ability to intuit your mood and pair it with the perfect brew, Molly transcends the role of a mere barista. She is an artisan of flavor and a warm beacon of hospitality. Every recommendation she offers is delivered with a personal touch that transforms a simple coffee run into an experience steeped in both craft and care. Her infectious smile and genuine enthusiasm remind you that here, every cup is a testament to the art of connection. It’s for these reasons—and countless subtle details in every corner of the shop—that I bestow Medici Coffee Shop a solid 5-star rating. Whether you’re seeking a quiet moment of reflection or a lively conversation over expertly crafted coffee, this gem on Guadalupe stands ready to elevate your day.
They have THE BEST customer service. Very friendly and nice. Great coffee and location. And if you’re a remote worker, best places to cross everything from your to-do list. Huge space as well.
shit wifi but still easily the best coffeeshop near campus. sometimes can be annoying working here for that reason.
Terrific visit today with my daughter to grab cappuccinos. The crew are super welcoming and make it a place you want to visit. (I appreciated the nice cashier who recognized the SSC Napoli logo on my jacket and started a conversation about Serie A football!) The coffee was superb -- it's nice to have a cappuccino that is made to proper dimensions and not some giant oversized mess. Can't wait to go back!
Very cool 😎 descent size , old fashioned coffee shop , in UT Austin campus area, u will find students studying here , 2 storey hangout study 📖 place. I ordered local pale beer to kill the heat , it was very nice beer..
Medici is the best coffee shop in the UT Austin Area, handily beating Starbucks, Lucky Lab, and I think onpar with Centro, but they are good for different things. But the main thing is coffee: Medici is a Roastery (like Merit), which I like only because the quality of the coffee can be ascribed to them, and not just having the decent sense to buy well-roasted coffee. I also suspect that since roasting is the single highest value-added step in the cofy chain, prices are a bit lower. Anyway, Medici’s coffee is consistently good with sufficient options in a nice location. Its the quintessential college coffee shop that you want nextdoor.
A two-level coffee shop in a university district, and the academic energy here is real. While other coffee shops start shifting to a weekend vibe by Friday afternoon, this place stays focused—even on a Saturday, most people are locked into their screens, studying or working. It’s great knowing there’s a spot where you can still find a productive atmosphere on the weekend. The coffee is excellent, and the space feels open and inviting, thanks to the high ceilings and second level. We grabbed a table upstairs, which offered a nice view of the café below. Good music, good design, and a balanced mix of quiet and activity. By the time we arrived, all pastries were sold out, but that’s on us for coming after the morning rush. Clearly, this place keeps busy, and for good reason. If you’re looking for a solid coffee spot with a studious, focused atmosphere, Medici Roasting delivers. A must-visit if you need a weekend work session with great coffee.
Today I finally decided to try Medici Roasting after hearing from one of my professors how good it is. I ordered a hot Pumpkin Pie Latte, and it was so delicious! It was the perfect mixture between sweet and bitter. The customer service was excellent, the baristas are very sweet and know what they’re doing. I stayed for 3 hours doing some essays on the second floor. Very cozy and warm atmosphere. I liked how it was a good balance between loud and quiet. Thank you!! I will definitely come back to try new items.
The coffee at Medici Roasting is nothing short of exceptional. They take pride in sourcing high-quality beans and roasting them to perfection, bringing out the rich, complex flavors in every cup. Whether you’re ordering a classic espresso, a pour-over, or a latte, the attention to detail is evident. The baristas are skilled and knowledgeable, ensuring each drink is crafted with precision. Their espresso has a robust, smooth taste with a perfect balance of acidity, while the pour-over options highlight the nuanced flavors of single-origin beans. Service at Medici Roasting is professional and friendly. The staff is passionate about coffee and always willing to share their expertise or recommend a new blend to try. Despite the café often being busy, the service remains efficient, and the baristas maintain a welcoming demeanor that makes you feel at home. Medici Roasting locations offer a mix of modern and cozy aesthetics. The spaces are typically bright and airy, with plenty of natural light, clean lines, and a minimalist design that emphasizes comfort. The atmosphere is relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both working and socializing. Whether you’re there to catch up on some work or have a chat with friends, the ambiance supports a range of activities.
Medici is located across the street of UT campus. I enjoy the atmosphere here. Students work on their stuffs and be productive at this place. Iced latte is great here. Espresso tasted balanced, not too sour or too bitter. I especially like the crushed ice inside. If you happen to visit this area, Medici is a great place to have a sip of coffee and take a rest.
Been going here for a year and some change- the baristas all deserve more than an applause. They see hundreds of students daily- many of them who don’t even say thank you. But they still show up, practice their latte art, and share an experience with The Drag and UT. They’ve opened the doors to homelessness, student organizations, and so much more. I think it’s one of the greatest tasting coffees in Austin and I’ve heard the same from so many people! When dialed correctly, a double espresso can showcase their awesome vision for specialty coffee. More than anything, the baristas at Guad are some of the most fun and heart-filled people and if given the chance to be treated like humans with feelings and compassion, you’d also join the hundreds of regulars (UT students, UT professors, people who work remotely, and people who have lived in Austin and have experienced the story of Medici the last 17 years) who take the time to head to Medici over any other local specialty shop in Austin. The one thing that does suck is parking so good luck with that!
Came here because we wanted to try some Italian-style coffee. I liked my drip coffee and my wife liked her cappucino. Coffee was a touch more bitter than what we usually have, I guess that is the difference between American and Italian style? Service was fast and friendly. There is seating on two floors and that seems nice. They don't have designated parking so we parked on the street in front of the shop. Glad we came here.
This place was my home away from home when I went to the university of texas. Between classes this place was great to visit and get some extra study time or when the day was done it was a relaxing place to study and get some good coffee. The lattes are amazing, the pasteries are amazing. I lovvvvve Medici.
Love this place! With its high brick walls and long entrance, it has wooden stairs leading to a second floor and plenty of windows for natural light. It also offers breakfast/lunch options besides coffee like tacos and pastries. It is quiet and people can be found working on their laptop for hours disturbed.
I just visit, Medici after carefully check the reviews... Caroline, is so welcoming, professional, friendly, she help me, and did make an excellent latte, with oat milk, I also have a croissant sugar and cinnamon warm, to die for. I'm very picky when it comes to coffee, because I grow up in Adjuntas, P R. Witch is a coffee town for excellence.
Coffee is a bit pricey (me being a lowly college student and all) but you pay for the atmosphere. The upstairs section is prime real estate for studying and small group gatherings and if you manage to snag a seat by the windows, people watching can fill an afternoon very nicely.
Great place. Visited while we were in Austin. Enjoyed the coffee and a croissant. It is very much a college study place but also has great atmosphere and coffee.
Decent cup of coffee near campus. You can tell they don't really want people to stay because their seating is super uncomfortable, but if you're in the area and visiting, it's a good little coffee shop and worth stopping in.
This is such a great place to study, lots of seating, nice vibes, and friendly staff. I think the coffee is okay but it's a little pricey for the size/quality and there's limited options but still has those nice basics.
One of my TA's used to have his office hours at this location, so I went there quite often one semester. It's a lovely coffee shop and has two levels in it. The upper level is kinda dark and the lower equally bright. They have soy milk and organic milk options which Starbucks doesn't always have, so that's a plus. Their coffee is a tad overpriced but that's probably because it's located at such a prime spot. You can always smell their coffee as you pass the shop by on your way to work or class. The staff is friendly. The shop also sells local products like Juiceland's quirky juices.
I wish I had a cafe like this near my school. Great seating and wifi, though outlets are a little scarce comparatively. Coffee is brewed to order and pretty good, as is the espresso. Good music playing, and the view + daylight on the second floor is really nice in the afternoon.
It's pretty loud in here because it is very busy. It seems like a good place to meet people or to spend time with friends. The drinks are good, made quickly and reasonably priced. The service is okay, but I wouldn't say that they are cheery. Finding a seat can be a challenge at times.
atmosphere is beautiful I could spend hours there. Was not a *huge* fan of the cafe au lait (maybe i don't like roasted coffee?) and the breakfast burritos were prepackaged (but i still loved it 8.5/10)
It's pretty large with a lot of seating. There aren't a ton of available outlets, especially for those not against a wall. The drinks are pricey, and even the drip coffee isn't cheap. The music is also pretty loud but I did like the wooded interior and atmosphere.
This place is a staple of UT Austin. The dominant clientele are student and faculty—ideally the people who can walk there from campus—so in that regard, it feels familiar even as a newcomer. It is very dear to me. I’ve never had a problem with their customer service and was attracted from the start to the environment. Yes, the coffee is overpriced; but it’s Austin. And no, their milk texture is not always perfect; but whose is? Plus, their espresso never fails. And all shortcomings are made up for in the place’s charm. Their employees are part of that. Their manager, Aries, cultivated a warm and understanding atmosphere. It is always a joy to see a familiar face behind the bar.
Espresso was a little under-extracted. Staff and environment were excellent. Wifi didn't work for one reason or another. almost five bucks for an espresso is kind of crazy.
Nice coffee shop to work. I love their London Fog, blueberry muffin and jalapeno bagels :) Usually its busy because of students, but you can always find a table upstairs. The only annoying thing is that they dont have a lot of charging ports, so sometimes you might have to wait for someone else to go, to charge your devices
Pretty standard coffee shop. Its main appeal -- at least to me and other UT students I'd imagine -- is that it's close to campus and easily accessible during school hours. Coffee is fine, pastries are good but nothing extraordinary. Prices could stand to be lower but when you're working on a project and need a comfy place close to campus this is a great spot. Only criticisms I feel are worth mentioning are the prices (slightly high), the closing time (10pm), and the lack of outlets (my laptop is somehow always dead before I come here). It'd be great if they could stay open later, or throw a couple extension cords in the outlets upstairs, but other than that, it's a good, cozy little place.
Very good coffee and a nice spot to hang out and work. Service was fairly quick, but definitely a place that is known for its atmosphere. There is plenty of seating on the first and second floors, with nice natural looking wood paneling.
Really nice place to come study, they even play study session playlists. If you come here expect to see many students on their laptops and with books. Really nice atmosphere. They have two floors and the second floor is super cute with a library style on the walls. I only gave it 4 stars because the coffee was ok and not exceptional. Friendly staff!
The atmosphere and vibe of Medici is on point. It's a great spot for studying and getting work done. They definitely can get pretty busy, but that's just cause they're quite good. The staff tends to be pretty chill with only one or two experiences where they were short or not very friendly. Overall though, I recommend their drinks and the place itself. It's a good spot.
I got the Strawberry Rose Matcha as it was a special drink on the blackboard recommended by the batista, and it sounded yummy but the drink itself didn't taste like much, very watery with a hint of matcha and strawberry flavor. Not very sweet, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it was unflavored in general. The service was nice though, not overtly excited but amiable workers. The atmosphere of the place itself is my favorite part, would be very good for studying, hanging out, or drawing. I don't particularly like the art on the walls though, very trite and bad paintings. But I respect that they're all local Austin artists. I do enjoy the cardboard still life's a lot.
Great coffee and service. However, the upper floor is extremely dirty. You can see the dust and hair along the ledge. Also, in general the floor is very dirty. It has been this way two weeks in a row.
This is a convenient coffee shop located right next to The University of Texas at Austin campus. The coffee is average and pretty over-priced. The WiFi connection is pretty good though, so I recommend this place for studying!
Would be such a nice atmosphere/study spot if they didn't blast music so loud you can't hear yourself think. Additionally, they usually play pop or something non-coffee-shop-related. Kinda ruins the vibe
Medici has decent coffee, but the biggest problem here is the wifi. For a long time it didn't work at all so I stopped coming all together, but recently it seemed like they got it together finally only for my laptop to get kicked off the wifi 15 minutes into my stay there. Just go somewhere else or a different medici location.
Overpriced tacos, especially for the size. But good tacos nonetheless. They also were out of every taco I wanted when I went there so that was also not cool with me. However, there is free WiFi and plenty of seating so you usually don't have to fight for a seat. Have yet to try their coffee but I have heard it's good.
This is a pretty good coffee shop. The coffee is good, but not great. The layout is a little strange. It can get a little too loud to get much work done, and the music can be played a little too loud. It does have plenty of seating, though, and some good people-watching.
Today I went for my favorite coffee place Medici to get my Free Coffee after 10 stamps of my previous orders! It was a wonderful day and instead of ordering something complex and fancy, I ordered as always my small Americano with a little bit of milk in a middle cup so that it wouldn’t spill out. But there was a new girl that was in a rush and just messed up this whole simple order. When I asked for a little bit of milk and a middle cup, she poured out half of my coffee to the sink and put too much milk and spoiled my order. Just totally ruined my mood, I came excited for my well-deserved free coffee and left with disappointment…
Wifi is usually really slow here, and often a little bit loud. Coffee is kind of pricey and there isn’t as much variety as other shops. The lattes are okay but usually ask for extra shot b/c it is not strong enough for me. I really like the espresso tonics here though. Matcha is also usually too sweet i would ask for half sweet. Pastries are pretty good especially the banana bread. Kimbala chai and golden milk kind of just gives off cultural appropriation vibes to me. View from top floor is pretty aesthetic. Overall I recommend this coffee shop as a date spot over studying
Overall, I enjoy this place, I really do. Pleasant atmosphere (though with most American cafes, the music is almost always too loud, and there isn't anything to deaden the sound (just brick walls and hardwood floors). I come here when I'm on campus, and I want a little higher quality cup of coffee than some other competitors nearby, but be prepared to spend a little more for that. However, my biggest gripe, which makes this cafe a no-go for me if I am doing work, is the wifi. I'm surprised there are so few reviews here that mention it, but it is essentially unusable as it disconnects constantly. When it does work, it provides moderate speed at best. If you're looking for a place to work remotely, sadly, this is not it. But if you are looking for a place to socialize over a cappuccino and you're close to the UT campus, by all means this is a great spot.
Coffee was good but don't come here thinking any of the outlets to charge devices are any good. Just about every outlet is so worn it can't even keep the power bank in place; it'll fall at the slightest movement. Owner: please replace all your power receptacles with new that can actually hold power blocks in place
Ordered an iced latte, got watery milk an essence of coffee. Not sure how it’s possible for a latte to taste like nothing at all, couldn’t taste the milk. The coffee was barely there, it was like a whisper in the back of your throat. I’m no coffee aficionado but I appreciate the different roasts and undertones of a good cup of joe. You don’t get that here. Spacious coffee shop with two floors and many tables so I can see why students go here to study, probably for the ambiance not the coffee.
Overpriced coffee, poor snack selection, very little parking, moderately friendly staff, but lots of seating available. Probably not the best place to meet your boss for coffee , but a good place for students that don't mind paying $5 for a prepared drink. Tea and drip coffee are avaialable, and probably the only affordable items in this place.
Coffee itself is fine. The experience working remotely inside the shop was not good. First, the bathrooms are closed. They didn’t seem to have an urgency to open them up right away either. Not sure how they expect to keep this up with tons of people working and studying in the shop. Second, they have a “No Pets Inside” sign BUT there were people with loud small dogs upstairs in the study area. These dogs kept barking. The baristas said nothing. What’s the point of having that sign? Overall, a bad experience. I wouldn’t revisit this place, especially if they still keep those bathrooms closed for a long time.
I love going here, maybe today was a fluke but they didn't toast my bagel, didn't give me any cream cheese like they usually do. My matcha latte was super clumpy. Not worth the price plus tip.
Lots of seating, which is a plus, but this place is even more unreasonably priced than starbucks! Plus, the drinks are incredibly small here. I’d definitely go somewhere else if I were you. Definitely. Spare yourself the waste of money. Plus, they didn’t let me know when my drink was ready; they just let it sit there and get cold.
The ambiance is great but I’ve never thrown away a whole cup of coffee. The espresso had a sour taste compared to other coffee shops and ruined my entire drink and my friends as well. We all threw away our drinks.
This is a very nice place to catch up with a friend, study or go on a date. It also has a nice, full bodied espresso and decent pastries. The one thing that brings it down to two stars for me is the poor service. The cashiers never welcome you or even acknowledge you. You state your order, they charge you and not even a "thank you" is muttered. They have an attitude that it seems they're doing you a favor by letting you be in the shop. I've given them a shot several times and every single time I come out feeling stupid. Because of this, I no longer go there nor do I recommend it to my friends. There are several other nice coffee shops nearby that have much nicer and better service than Medici.
Not bad coffee but it feels like there is no AC at all in the building. I can’t stay there long without breaking out in sweat.
Great coffee, great service, but playing metal Saturday AM , seriously.
Do NOT go here! After my experience this morning, I'll never go here again. Over the years, I've stopped to get coffee here just a few times on my way to class on campus only when I really needed caffeine and didn't have time to go elsewhere because I hate their brewed coffee and the sometimes rude, dismissive service. But today was the last time because the service was obnoxiously rude. The menu lists the price range for brewed coffee beginning at $3.00 without showing the price for specific sizes, so I ordered a small thinking that must be the $3 size. Right? When the surly hipster dude who rang up my order said the total was 3.84, I said, "Excuse me, I ordered a small." He held up a cup the size of a Starbucks tall, looked at me like I was an idiot, and said, "This is a small." "Is that $3?" I asked. He then held up a tiny 8oz cup and sneered, "This is $3." I responded, "Okay, that's what I want then." I then asked very calmly and politely, "Just for clarification, what should I have ordered if not "small?" He lost it and told me to just leave the store!! I repeated I just wanted to know what to order if not "small" for the $3 size. He refused to answer and again told me to just leave. Wow, just wow. As I was leaving I said with a smile, "I really hope you like your next job much better than this one." No more awful, outrageously overpriced coffee served by pathetic hipsters who must hate themselves, no matter how bad I need some caffeine.
I have always enjoyed the hot lattes here, but I was very disappointed with my experience this morning. The latte seemed to lack flavor, and it felt as though cold milk had been added to the espresso, which was not to my liking. Additionally, when I requested a remake, the barista simply poured out a portion of the latte and added milk that was not fully warmed, which unfortunately did make it worse. Given that the 12 oz latte costs nearly $6, I expected a higher than instant coffee. I hope this feedback helps in maintaining the standard I've come to expect from your café.
Usually enjoy this place but I made the mistake of walking away and forgetting to hit the tip screen. I come here semi-often and I always tip $1 per drink which works out to about 20%. I only ordered a single simple latte this time, and the barista was telling me to have a nice day before I tipped so I felt pressured to hurry and walked away, forgetting to hit the button. I guess the barista hit the button to tip $2 without my knowledge or permission, and I only found out via the emailed receipt. This experience kinda soured me to this place; might not come back.
I've been a patron of Medici since I came to Austin 3 years ago. Not only do I regularly visit this location but this is where I get my beans from. Over the years, I have also befriended several of their baristas. I went there this before before my class, it was moderately busy, and there were two women in front of me, talking to each other and the cashier. The cashier kept talking to them and not taking orders for a while. Then another girl walks in, cuts in front of me, and is also friends with one of the women in line, and places her order. The cashier doesn't say anything. I finally place my order, stand at the bar waiting for it for 7-8 mins, but it never arrives. Turns out they messed up my order (which was an Americano and a bag of beans). And to top it all of, I was late for the class I was supposed to teach. I spent about 15 mins there for something that should have taken 5 mins, and then never got it, and got late for my class - effectively ruining my morning. Thankfully, one of the baristas was patient and kind enough to listen to my and apologize. Staff is what makes a cafe. Don't think I'd like to go here anymore.
Air conditioner, broken, cooler unplugged with warm sodas in it, tables are dirty, sign on the door says cash only and the whole place looks like it is falling apart. The cup of coffee is decent, but you can’t hang out and enjoy it because it’s a mess in here.
The staff needs some work. Every time I’m here there is an unfriendly vibe from everyone but one person whose name I can’t remember but they’re the only one who is consistently friendly and helpful. I waited over 10 minutes for a single latte today because there were 2 people working and one of them left in the middle of a giant line forming so the person still working had to take orders and then make a ton of drinks which probably contributed to my drink turning out the way it did. I’d find somewhere else to get a coffee and work.
