Opiniones de Nori Austin
My wife and I visited our son and daughter in law (who is vegetarian) at their home in Austin. Based on their positive experiences dining at Nori, the four of us decided to visit together. After starting with a very tasty Shitake Gyoza, we ordered, from the Maki part of the (depicted) menu the Volcano, Sunflower, Spider, Rainbow and Dragon. The fullness of flavor and the beauty of presentation of these dishes were wonderful. We truly enjoyed these dishes We then decided we wanted more. We ordered the Creamy Crunchy and the Texan. Frankly, the listed ingredients of the Texan leaned us against ordering it, but my son convinced us. The Texan is comprised of smoked Tofu, Avocado and Jalapeño, topped with smoked tempeh, tempura flakes, served with blueberry barbecue, spicy Mayo and Roasted garlic. What a surprise!! The smokiness of the tofu and sweetness of the blueberry barbecue sauce played off of each other quite well. We still wonder how, but are thankful that, the chef came up with the combination of ingredients that make up the Texan. The service was wonderful, thanks to our server Anastasio, who we hope to see again when we return. He was responsive but never intrusive and we appreciate his assistance when needed. The atmosphere is stylish, but not overly so, clean and not noisy at all. I am a meat lover and proud of it, and Austin has fantastic barbecue, but Nori should not be missed by anyone who likes quality sushi. I highly recommend it and can't wait to eat there again. ------------------- UPDATE: Brought more family to Nori's, this time for lunch. Our server Ruba was absolutely excellent and, hopefully, will be assigned to our table for our next visit. The Bao Buns, Karaage and Okonomiyaki were a great start for us. The Origami was great, as were the Brooklyn, the Tempeh Temple and the Buddha. Nori has achieved "go to Sushi restaurant" status with us when we visit Austin. I strongly recommend that you give it a try.
Best sushi spot in town, if you came in blindfolded without knowing, you wouldn't believe it was vegan. Happy hour is a great way to try out a lot of items on the menu but you must get the bao bun "chicken" and the tempura. Try the fried edamame as well. Won't ruin the experience but the food travels well and still tastes great after taking leftovers home and storing it in the fridge for a few hours.
It's just so good y'all. Austin has been in desperate need of an upscale brick and mortar restaurant and Nori checks all the boxes. Incredible service, delicious cocktails, lovely decor, comfortable seating, and most importantly, THE FOOD! Everything I've gotten here has been amazing. Non-vegans and vegans alike will find something delicious to eat. You seriously can't go wrong. The service is top notch - the staff is friendly, helpful, and informative. I really could not ask for more, I just love this place.
You need to try this spot! They have amazing vibes, food, and service and yes it's Vegan! This is a brunch and dinner review! Brunch Review: We were visiting from SC and needed to find some vegan spots because we'll, we must eat. We made reservations for their brunch, and it was nothing short of amazing. This was the one place I was ready to come because I had already done my research. Plant based Japanese Cuisine? Um, yes, please! Every single drink from brunch and dinner was amazing. My wife even got a cocktail, okay? Just always drink responsibility because those drinks make you want to be irresponsible. So to order sushi is only right, right? We also got crossiants, and we had to leave before we ordered the whole menu. We loved it so much that sitting in the restaurant, we decided we were coming back for dinner that night. Dinner Review: We started with more sushi (because it's just that good) and their gyoza. When I tell you they both were bomb, they were bomb. For our entrees, my wife got the lions mane steak, and I had the creamy ramen. The creamy ramen was something out of my comfort zone, and although it was full of flavor, it wasn't my cup of tea. My wife's steak was a little salty, but those creamy mashed potatoes balanced the plate right off. We're foodies, restaurant owners, and managers, so we didn't say anything until the end. Our server was extremely helpful and attentive to our concerns. We left happy and full and will definitely be returning the next time we're in Austin!
Went there for dinner. The service was good. We ordered the Manhattan and Volcano sushi for the main course and a salad. The volcano was better than the Manhattan, but both were very good. The yuzu salad was excellent. We had a corner table next to the bar and enjoyed our anniversary dinner. The dessert was excellent as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Nori. The Creamy Spicy Tan Tan Ramen was absolutely delicious! I sat at the bar and was waited on by Anna P., I have to say that her customer focus service was impeccable! From offering recommendations to overall providing top tier service. I’ll definitely return whenever visiting again.
Kiska was such a great server!! 10/10 Food was perfect. My friend and I gushed about it for days. 10/10 We got the spider roll, the Austin and the one with the “tuna”. The drinks were just as good. I got the midnight rose mocktail, which I preferred. Also enjoyed the strawberry dream mocktail which was like drinking an amazing little dessert.
Wow!!! I'm so surprised by this place, the rolls truly tasted like their non vegan versions. The no tuna nigiri wasnt too similar to regular tuna nigiri but it was a unique dish and Im glad i tried it once! the flavors were really great and presentation was amazing as well! The food came out SO fast and the service is great. This is def a good date spot as well.
This was the best restaurant I dined at in Austin. The Nigiri was incredible and one of the best things I've ever eaten. The Volcano roll was delicious, and also one of the best things I've ever eaten. Vegan or not, if you're in Austin you must go! Yazmine was a wonderful server and took great care of me.
Michael was the sweetest server, the cocktails and ambiance were perfect, and I genuinely forgot I was at a vegan restaurant. The bao buns (that spicy slaw!!) and the sushi were unreal — impeccable textures and flavors. Absolutely magical meal. This omnivore can’t wait to go back.
My friend and I have been visiting Nori annually for a few years. We have loved witnessing the growth and progression of this restaurant, with its menu expanding and keeping things fresh. One clear place of improvement is the mocktail options. When we first came, Nori had maybe a couple, and now they have so many delicious options!!! One thing we noticed and were a bit disappointed by was the change in the Shiitake Roll. When we first had it a couple years ago, we both agreed it was among the best sushi we’d ever had (vegan or non-vegan). This time, we still liked it, but we missed the old version. We are not entirely sure what changed, but we think this version’s sauce had less depth of flavor, and there was less delicious crispy leeks on top. The other thing we miss is the cheesecake! That has been my favorite Nori dessert.
First time coming to this restaurant for the family lunch! We were so surprised to see that everything they offered to us was vegan! 🌱 We definitely enjoyed vegan cuisine and hope it’s continually growing here and beyond! We ordered, chicken karaage, sushi platter with volcano 🌋, katana ya, teriyaki dish, katsu curry dish on lunch special! There was a misunderstanding of the orders but the staff manage to give us everything we wanted to try! Highly recommended for all the vegans and health lovers! So nice to have such a nice healthy restaurant in the community! :)
Even if you are not vegan, this is an outstanding take on Japanese Nigiri and Maki. The two of us, one vegan, one omnivore, sampled several dishes and could not be anything but amazed at the result. In taste and presentation it was difficult to fault these takes on Japanese classics. Service was very good, attentive without being overbearing. Seating was a little tight but not troublesome. Noise levels were tolerable. On site parking was a plus. Decor was simple and pleasing and lighting was good. Overall this was a very fine restaurant and it deserves 4.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale ( 5 Stars on the Google scale ).
A must eat for vegan sushi and Japanese food! The waitress was very patient and helpful. The impossible gyoza was amazing. We got the California roll which was not too sophisticated but good, the Fiesta roll which was super flavorful and very filling, and the curry that had delicious crispy tofu. The cheesecake was good but had a bit of an aftertaste (lavender? Not sure). So much good food. Not cheap, but definitely worth it.
Such an awesome experience! The nigiri sample, sushi roll, bao buns, lion’s mane plate, and cheesecake we shared were all so delicious! Had the coconut by the sea drink and really enjoyed it. Tried the wasabi stinger drink out of curiosity and wasn’t a fan but when the waitress noticed I wasn’t drinking it she offered to get a different drink or take it off the bill. Worth every penny. Such a treat as a vegan. My non-vegan friend loved it too.
A vegan sushi place!? My dream has come true. But wait, there's more! There are so many fun things on this menu. We came for happy hour and were really impressed with everything that we tried. First of all, HH is 5:00-6:30PM Tuesday - Friday or Monday 5:00-10:00PM. Actually I'm confused because I thought it was HH also on Sunday (which is when we went) but their website doesn't say that anymore... maybe call to check. Anyway, here's what we tried: Chicken bao and tofu bao: they were both delicious. The tofu one tasted like a sweet banh mi and it was amazing. The chicken tasted like fried chicken with a slaw that was equally awesome. Apparently the baos are only available during happy hour. volcano roll - amaaaazing and warm. This reminded me of the Longhorn roll from Kyoto (RIP) in case any of y'all remember that amazing restaurant off Congress that will live forever in my heart. The spicy margarita was strong but not too strong and had a great flavor. Update: We came back and tried more things! The fried cauliflower bites are quite delicious. The sunflower roll was fresh and yummy. The nigiri sampler is a must-try, just because it's fun and different. The volcano roll is one that you need to get every time, because it's that delicous.
Went there for my birthday! Atmosphere and service was amazing and food was worth it! I got a special dessert cake with a candle on it when I requested it and my server even brought me a purple rose with a ribbon that said happy birthday on it! Would definitely recommend for any special occasions.
The best place for vegan sushi! Just love everything about this place! I’m personally not a huge fan of vegan desserts though but this is definitely one of my favorite places to eat.
I hope this place never closes. As a vegetarian, it makes me so happy every time I can go here and order ANYTHING ON THE MENU ❤️ The hardest part is deciding which rolls to get. I wish I had the stomach space for them all. Also, I love the vibe inside the restaurant. Great date night spot.
We had an amazing dinner at Nori and tried the Chick’n Karaage, Volcano, Creamy Crunch, and Spider Roll. We absolutely loved the Chick’n Karaage, Volcano, and Creamy Crunch, each dish was super flavorful and perfectly prepared. A big thank you to the staff for making our anniversary so special. Highly recommend for a delightful dining experience!
This is vegan sushi at its best! One of the best sushi places that I've been to. We ordered 8 different Maki rolls for 4 of us, including a chef's special (we only missed dragon and California from the menu). Everything was yummy. Each one had distinct flavors. We all loved everything, except some of us didn't like the tuna roll because it smelt like real fish! Volcano, creamy crunchy, spider were my favorites. We also tried the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. That was delicious too! Pros: Japanese vegan options in Austin, Variety of flavors, Vegan fine dining
Visited Nori with colleagues during a business trip to Austin, and it was a memorable experience. The ambiance is modern and inviting, perfect for both business dinners and casual outings. We were impressed by the freshness of the sushi, and the creative rolls were a delight, offering unique flavors that went beyond the usual. The presentation of each dish was impeccable. Texan roll was my favorite, featuring smoked tofu and avocado, topped with smoked tempeh and tempura flakes. The roll was served with an incredible blend of blueberry BBQ sauce, spicy mayo, roasted garlic, and pickled wasabi—truly a unique and flavorful experience. The ramen, with its rich, flavorful broth, was another highlight. We couldn’t resist trying all the desserts on the menu, and each one was amazing, with a perfect balance of flavors and textures. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall excellent experience. Nori is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates high-quality Japanese cuisine in Austin!
We dined here first on my birthday and then again with some friends visiting Austin. Incredible food both times. It is definitely a pricier menu than usual, but with great service and ambience. The chicken karage (slightly misleading IMO since it was more like chick’n nuggs than karage) were melt-in-the-mouth delicious, the nigiri platter was excellent and the Sunflower Maki roll that I got was great too. Everyone else also thoroughly enjoyed their rolls (Spicy Tuna, volcano, don’t remember the others but they were all yumm). They have a great coffee martini as well. I look forward to dining here with my vegetarian parents so they can also enjoy a fine dining sushi restaurant.
Val was an excellent bartender all around, gave incredible food recommendations, and really took my extensive list of allergies into consideration. Extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu as well. The food was insanely delicious, I literally wish I could eat here every single day! 10 stars
I’m a vegan who loves Japanese food. I was so excited to eat here and try foods I’ve always wanted to try but couldn’t because of my lifestyle. This place exceeded my expectations. Genuinely one of my favorite restaurants I’ve been to. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we came back for breakfast/lunch the next day! Atmosphere was great, food was delicious. I look forward to returning whenever I can! (This review is for our visit in early September 2024)
Had the Nigiri sampler, volcano roll, spider roll, and lemon cake. Val was amazing making sure to explain what each Nigiri was and what the vegan components were made of. Flavorful, thoughtful dishes. I appreciated the well balanced dessert in both sweetness and textural components. Yes, I watch too much Food Network. Joe was also very friendly and helpful. The place has a nice vibe.
Excellent Vegan sushi 🍣 🤤 restaurant in the heart of Austin. The menu is unique and so are the tastes of different items. Being vegan/vegetarian, Sushi is usually not an option for us. That's until now. Excellent restaurant with great service. Loved the small plates as well as main entries. Each item is uniquely made and tasted. Really yummy all over.
LOVED Nori — Unique Japanese restaurant serving vegetarian Sushi. Food is delicious. Service is outstanding. Various mocktails are available for those who prefer no alcohol. Sake cocktails are served too. It's expensive, so I would recommend it for special occasions only. Outdoor seating in covered patio is available for the nice weather days. Seating is timed - for party of 4, they give 2 hours. Not sure how much they enforce the time limit. Table behind us with 2 diners was seated before we were seated and were still there when we left. Space is tight inside - very close seating. Looked like they are doing well, so hopefully, they will move to a more spacious location in the future.
Our waiter was great and helped me pick out some really delicious food. The maki roll was so good. The tempura so light n crispy and the yakisoba so flavorful. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Our first experience at Nori was a journey of unmatched sushi goodness! Our guide for this journey was our server, Treesa. She took great care of us from beginning to end. We enjoyed Miso with dumplings, the Nigiri Sampler and many amazing Maki rolls! I believe there is no wrong choice to make at this fine establishment. The use of tomatoes and fungi were nothing short of culinary genius. Thank you for existing here in Austin. We would love to see you open a location south of the river! We will be back soon!
Service was on point, they were so friendly, and super busy the first few nights of opening and still gave their very best! The food was fantastic. Drinks were so good, loved the red wine from Lebanon highly recommend and the espresso martini was also fantastic, one of the best espresso martinis i've had👌 Presentation was unique as well! It's a little pricier but for the food quality and great experience, it was so worth it!
For all my plant-based peeps, have you ever thought "I love the CONCEPT of sushi...but the vegan/vegetarian options are always lame, so limited, and seem like an afterthought"? Then this is the place for you!! It's everything awesome about sushi, but vegan! Their food is gorgeous, creative, and delicious. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is lovely. Pro tip: their brussels sprouts appetizer is tastier than it has any right to be - it may just be the best thing you eat this year. We've been very impressed each time we've been to Nori so far, we'll certainly be back many more times...and next time I'm trying the ramen!
I have always been curious of this place Nori. Plant-based anything makes me worry (only because I had vegan ice cream at a store once with my family and we all got sick!). So, I had a muted sense of excitement to try this place out. I'm so glad I did. The food is pretty good. You don't forget that you're eating plant-based food; however, the flavor profiles are extremely close and complex. The brussel sprouts were really good - how they got such good flavor in the sauce, no one will know. It tasted like fish sauce! The ceviche was pretty interesting in a good way. I kept getting random crunches and surprisingly enough, they were corn nuts! Definitely clever. The sauce was good on the ceviche too. The shiitake gyoza were excellent. I had to scrape up the sauce which looked like orange marmalade but was really light and balanced well with the gyoza. My LEAST favorite dish was the shiitake maki. Way too onion-y. It was overpowering and overwhelmed my palate. My 2nd least favorite dish was the Lion's King Steak. I appreciate the effort to get the flavor and look of actual steak but the texture of the mushroom definitely failed. It was quite stringy. The mashed potatoes on the bottom were great though. The service got better as the night went along. We sat in the corner of the bar and didn't get water or a server for probably 10 minutes. Once our waitress came by, things started flowing pretty smoothly. The atmosphere is "eh". I wish it was a larger space or had more standard-seating tables. We came in at a relatively early dinner time but there were no standard tables on the reservation platform we used. We had to sit at a high-top. It was also rainy so no one could use the outdoor seating. I bet it would be nice on a pretty day.
Went for Monday all day happy hour. The saporro was cold and the temperature was hot. Each roll we ordered tasted completely different. Great textures and flavors. Service was top notch and the booth was super clean with tasteful place settings.
As a vegan, this is one of my absolute favorite spots in Austin. I bring everyone I know here who is willing to try it, and vegans and omnivores alike think this place is delicious all the same. The last time I came in I got the Cauliflower Wings, the Edamame Gyoza, and the Austin Roll. All 3 were delicious! The cauliflower bites had the perfect crunchy texture, the edamame gyoza had a really nice spicy mustard flavor, and the Austin roll was such a fun way of combining barbecue flavors with sushi! Also the Belgian chocolate and the raspberry lemon desserts are both a great finish depending on what you’re in the mood for. Our server, Michael, had great recommendations and was so kind :) such a gem!
I tried the ramen today, and it was so delicious! At first, they accidentally brought me the spicy one. As soon as I tasted it, I realized it was too spicy for me 😊 I mentioned it, and right away they brought me another bowl — the one I actually wanted. And it was perfect: flavorful, aromatic, and so comforting. Honestly, it was so good I had to stop myself from finishing it too fast! I really appreciate places that not only make great food but also treat their guests with care and kindness. Thank you for the wonderful service — I’ll definitely be back! 🤍✨
Regardless if you are vegan or not , the food offerings will not disappoint. Everything we had was delicious and the mixed drinks we had were on point. I would highly recommend this place to parties of all diverse dietary practices.
I have been to Nori a bunch of times and it never disappoints. I have mainly had the gyozas and makis here. The food is delicious even for non-vegans and meat eaters. It is really commendable how they make plant-based Japanese food taste so nice. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. It’s always better to reserve your spot in advance due to limited seating and high popularity. Parking is fairly easy.
This restaurant is a unique find where you can find vegan sushi which tastes amazing. They change the menu often to keep new ideas fresh. I had the cauliflower wings and they were well cooked, crunchy and had an amazing yuzu mayo for dipping. The volcano and rainbow rolls are great! The sushi here has great flavor and leaves you satisfied and not missing fish at all.
The cocktails, food, ambience, service everything is fantastic! The best ever vegan sushi’s, all the ingredients are very fresh and tasty. Being a vegetarian having a plant based menu means being spoiled with options. I’m so glad I discovered this place on my most recent visit to Austin and had a chase to savour the food 3/5 nights. I also loved the katsu curry that I had initially got on uber eats on the evening of arrival into Austin. Michael & Sanya’s service were excellent and will return to this gem in a heartbeat next time I’m in Austin. I even brought my meat / pescatarian colleagues and they loved it. If you enjoy plant based and fresh ingredients and great cocktails you will love it and don’t miss this ! Highly Recommended Matcha sour, pink flamingo & midnight rose in that order Volcano sushi, cauliflower starter, avocado nigiri, katsu curry with sushi rice.
We went with the team and had such a good time! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, but the one that truly made my night was the miso soup– I already love miso soup, but this one? Beyond amazing. We also tried dessert—so, so good. Nori is just one more reminder that “vegan” or “plant-based” can be even more delicious that people think. Everything was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and the vibe was great. They brought water as soon as we sat down, which I always appreciate. Just a really lovely dinner all around.
We ordered Nori's takeout special for Valentine's Day. The traffic was exceptionally bad on the way to pick up and we were 45 minutes late. Daria graciously offered to remake our order while we waited. I cannot stress enough the quality of the food from Nori and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. It is so great to have this option as a vegan eating out in Austin. Highly recommend trying this place out. Thanks again Daria and Nori!
Nori! My partner and I love this place! He recently became vegan but even before this was one of his favorites! The pictures are the Valentine’s Day special but we’ve come here a lot! The food never disappoints. The specials were above and beyond the regular menu. The service is always spectacular and the environment looks upscale modern. We got mocktails! All the mocktails were surprisingly good! The old fashioned tastes pretty close to the original.
Amazing restaurant with fantastic food and outstanding service. Lily was an excellent waitress—friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We ordered the Austin rolls, Japanese rice, Brussels sprouts, and Belgian chocolate cake, and every single dish was incredible. Highly recommend!
Went to Nori for the first time and had the most amazing experience. Micheal was our server, he was absolutely incredible. It was my birthday and he made me feel so special! Highly recommend eating here, best vegan food I’ve had in a very long time. Thanks again to Micheal for being so kind to my sister and I!
We felt an explosion of flavor the moment we tried the vegan sushi—it was a completely new and delightful experience! We ordered two makis, one nigiri, and shared a lemon raspberry cake, and every bite was incredible. Mikayla was so patient and kind, especially with first-timers like us. The ambiance was relaxing and modern, making the whole visit even better. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone!
Nori was excellent, again. We were celebrating a birthday and Nori was our first choice. Our college age niece is not a vegan and sushi is her favorite food. She loved Nori! Our server, Lilly, was outstanding. Service was very good. She helped us navigate the menu and recommended some things we’d never tried before. We’ll be back!
Great sushi, perfect for vegetarians or vegans. So happy and easier to be a vegetarian or vegan these days with lots of options to choose! Good food and decent atmosphere, just a little tight spacing inside. Going in with low expectations, vegan sushi, right? But I came back out happy and satisfied and way past my expectations. Will definitely be back.
While on a trip to Austin, we decided to try Nori based on the great local reviews, and we’re glad we did. It’s not often you come across a fully plant-based restaurant with such creative offerings. We ordered the Drunk on Love mocktail, which was refreshing and really well made. The Volcano Roll was a standout; perfectly balanced with a sweet and spicy flavor that tasted amazing. The Creamy Spicy Tan Tan was decent, though not our favorite. We ended with the Belgian Chocolate Cake, which was absolutely delicious and a great way to finish the meal. The ambience was fantastic, and overall service was good. However, after taking our order, the server didn’t check back with us until we had finished our meals (just before dessert), which could have made the experience even better. Overall, Nori is a nice plant-based restaurant and a great find in Austin. We’d definitely visit again to try more dishes the next time we’re in town.
Went here with my family and everything was just fantastic; the service, all the food, the cozy ambience, the funk and soul music... was very impressed (especially as someone not usually into vegan food)! Please try the BAO Chick'n, it is SO delicious 🙏
Best vegan sushi and outstanding customer service. They truly go out of their way to make your birthday feel special.
Last night's dinner at Nori was nothing short of magical. My friend and I had been looking forward to this visit, and it absolutely exceeded every expectation. We started the evening with an espresso martini and a lavender gin & tonic — both beautifully crafted and the perfect way to set the mood. The impossible gyoza arrived as our appetizer, and honestly, we were already sold after the first bite. Perfectly crisp on the outside, packed with juicy flavor inside — you'd never guess it was plant-based. Then came the small plates: the Volcano and the Manhattan. I genuinely don't have the words to do them justice. The flavor combinations were bold, creative, and executed flawlessly. Every single bite was a revelation — this is the kind of food that makes you stop mid-conversation just to appreciate what you're eating. What made the whole experience even more special was our server. She was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely generous in guiding us through the menu. It felt less like being waited on and more like being taken care of by someone who truly loves what they do. Nori has set a new benchmark for what plant-based dining can be. If you haven't been yet, book your table now — and yes, book ahead, because a place this good fills up fast. We'll absolutely be back.
Fantastic vegan option in Austin. If you’re craving Japanese staples made vegan, this is a must stop. We had a variety of rolls, all unique and impossible to pick a favorite. The yakisoba was incredible. Huge portion and packed with perfectly cooked veggies. While the small plates/apps were delicious, they were probably the weakest part of the overall meal (less value vs the rolls or entrees). Would highly recommend to anyone who is vegan or willing to try vegan food. We will definitely be stopping in again when we come back through Austin.
This place was absolutely incredible. Everything we ate was amazing! We ordered gyoza (shiitake and impossible), a roll (I don’t recall which one), spicy tan tan ramen with tofu, yakisoba noodles with tofu, sake, spicy pineapple mocktail, and the chocolate cake. The flavors are so full of depth, everything was plated beautifully, the atmosphere is perfect for date night or upscale casual special celebration.
This is my favorite restaurant in Austin. Nori never disappoints with delicious items of food. I always order the Volcano it’s the best sushi roll I have ever had. We celebrated my friends birthday here and received a free dessert for her birthday. I’ve had Michael as my server 3 times and every time I have had him, my experience has been exceptional at Nori. His energy and presence is exactly what a guest needs and I love his service. Thank you!
My sister and I tried Nori and it was honestly 10 out of 10. The sushi tasted super fresh and really felt handmade with a lot of care. We ordered the Volcano and the Manhattan, and both were very, very good great flavor, great presentation, and just overall great! We also had a beer and a cocktail, and they were on special. Biggest tip: go on a Monday. Their happy hour/special menu is incredible tons of items discounted, including sushi rolls (we got some for around $11), and it’s an awesome deal without sacrificing quality. And don’t skip dessert, magnificent. Everything we tried was excellent. If you’re into fresh sushi and great specials, this place is a must.
A perfect date spot for vegan lovers! We ordered the Volcano and Dragon Maki from the menu which were must haves. Spicy Tan Tan Ramen bowl was filling and definitely worth it. In dessert we ordered the Raspberry cheesecake which was the best until now. Definitely recommend this place. Cocktail were ok.
I’ve followed Nori on Instagram for years and finally was able to visit with my husband. The sushi rolls were so good and had plethora of flavors! I definitely recommend the lemon raspberry cake for dessert and I hope you have Micheal as a waiter. He was so sweet and made the Nori experience worthwhile!
This place is friggin genius. The food was absolutely beautiful, and SO delicious. We had a volcano roll, an Austin roll, edamame gyoza, and a chick’n dish, all of which were fantastic. The atmosphere was lovely (we sat on the patio), the server kind and timely, and the drinks good too. Reasonable, non-pretentious, upscale vegan eats.
The best vegan restaurant in Austin! I’ve been here many times and also gotten takeout and it never disappoints. Everything on the menu is good but the Chick'n Katsu Nigiri is my favorite. My most recent visit was great and I enjoyed the service and atmosphere. I wouldn’t change a single thing about Nori!
I am highly sceptical of 'vegetarian' sushi! I mean veg and sushi are like antonyms🤷♂️ but Nori surprised me! Every single plate of sushi came out looking perfectly handcrafted. Our helper, Lily was patient and explained the different options in detail. Overall a wonderful experience!
We came here for our 14th wedding anniversary. I have been a vegan for 4 years and I was happy to find this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I didn’t have to ask which food is vegan. The place itself was very cozy. We didn’t have a reservation but they gladly gave us a table for two. We were served by this wonderful and sweet person named Michael. He made sure we were enjoying our stay. He was very friendly and had a nice smile. He made us feel welcome and we immediately felt at home. We ordered the cauliflower and ramen. It was delicious. Whenever we visit a new restaurant, we remember the food and forget about the people who served it to us. Michael made our experience unforgettable. He gave me a rose before we left when he learned it was our anniversary. Thank you Michael! - Ella & Jess
It was my friend's and I first time at Nori and were we so pleased with the service, the atmosphere and the vegan food! I'm vegan and my friend are not but they wanted to try Nori and said their food was absolutely delicious! We are looking forward to visiting again. We also received outstanding customer service from our server who was so attentive and welcoming, I really wish I remembered their name but they had the septum and cool hair cut, we also received an amazing welcome from the Hostess Allison! As a local vegan who is constatngly searching for warm, fancy, ambiance Nori was perfect! Including the music!
Our dining experience at Nori in Austin, Texas, was nothing short of spectacular. As vegetarians, we often hesitate to choose sushi restaurants due to their typically limited vegetarian options. However, celebrating a birthday at Nori was a revelation. The restaurant's full vegan menu offered an astounding variety of rolls that went far beyond the usual avocado roll we are accustomed to. From the moment we walked in, the waiting staff made the evening exceptional. They were incredibly attentive and helpful as we navigated the vibrant menu, ensuring we understood the ingredients and could make the best choices. Their enthusiasm and knowledge of the vegan options were contagious, setting a joyful tone for the celebration. The menu at Nori is a treasure trove of creative and delectable vegan sushi rolls. Each roll was a delightful surprise, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We savored innovative combinations like the Volcano, with its perfect balance of sweetness and heat, and the Sunflower, which offered a delightful crunch. The freshness of the ingredients and the artistry in each roll were truly impressive. Celebrating a birthday at Nori was a unique and memorable experience. The variety and creativity of the vegan sushi rolls allowed us to explore new flavors and enjoy a truly gourmet meal. I highly recommend Nori to any vegetarian or vegan sushi lover looking for a dining experience that is both satisfying and exciting. This restaurant has redefined what vegan sushi can be, and we can't wait to return for more culinary adventures. _____________________ Nori has become our yearly tradition for my wife’s birthday, and it never disappoints. This vegan sushi gem in Austin continues to exceed expectations. We were warmly welcomed with a sweet, personalized note on our table, setting the tone for a truly special evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely celebrated. Every dish was fresh, creative, and beautifully presented a real treat for both the eyes and taste buds. Do not miss the espresso martini easily one of the best we’ve had. Nori is a perfect mix of thoughtful service and exceptional vegan cuisine.
I went to NORI for my birthday and it was such a beautiful experience. From the moment I walked in, the vibe/atmosphere was immaculate. The food? Incredible. The Impossible gyoza is to die for perfectly crisp and super flavorful!!. The spring rolls, ramen, dessert and everything else I ordered were beyond delicious. And let me just say this is hands down the best vegan sushi in the city so far. No contest. To top it all off, the staff was super kind and even gave me a flower for my birthday. It was such a sweet gesture that made the experience even more special. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend for anyone who loves amazing vegan food, a great atmosphere, and thoughtful service🥰
Planning a romantic date night and want to have some amazing Vegan food? Nori is definitely your place! The food is just delicious and worth it! Do try their Nigiri Sampler just amazing, each one tastes better than the other, Tempura is perfectly crisp, California Maki with the sauce is just so soothing, Spicy Creamy Ramen is absolutely delicious with ginger and corn! Amazing ambience and reception! You’ll fall in love with the place and it is a Vegan’s safe haven for sure!
I wish we had places like this more northward, but alas, we'll just have to plan for more driving! The food here is excellent, especially considering it is plant based, and the service was great. It's a small, very popular joint so make sure to call ahead or make reservations.
This is arguably one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to in 2024! It was a recommendation by Yelps “Surprise Me” feature. I’m so glad I went. Originally did not know that it was 100% vegan sushi! The staff were friendly and welcoming! I love the mid scale decor. They have a wide variety of options on the menu and everything tastes so flavorful. I was a bit hesitant as they feature mushrooms in a lot of their rolls but was pleasantly surprised when they tasted in more flavorful than actual meat and seafood! Cheers to the chefs in the back!! You guys rock! I sat at the bar which had seating for about 15-20 patrons. I would recommend this even if you’re with another person. The conversations you end up having with other patrons at the bar is well worth it! I got the Volcano and Shiitake rolls with a refreshing nonalcoholic Yuzu cocktail. The Shiitake featured zucchini on top, mix of shiitake, onion crunch, leek fries and my favorite part, the miso caramel sauce! It was a sweet and savory delight!!!! The Volcano was my top out of the two!!! It featured spinach, sweet potato, and avocado! Loved the taste and the texture. Warm, crunchy outer fried layer, perfect rice texture, slightly sweet from the sweet potato, flavors magnified by the avocado. All in all, I really enjoyed this establishment , I do wish that they gave military discounts and hope that it’s something they may consider in the near future. I always ask everywhere I go but this establishment does not give them.
Visited here for a working lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. All of the food looked amazing. I think if you are into vegan food this might be the place for you. I’m thankful for the experience but it’s definitely not for me. The place was nice, plenty of parking, and not crowded inside.
Surprisingly really good! I personally love fish and was skeptic of veggie sushi, but very much enjoyed the Dragon Roll and Volcano Roll. Also - it honestly it makes me so happy to see my vegetarian friends just having a blast here. In fact, vegetarians all across the restaurant just have this sweet smile and giddy energy about them and the whole place is filled with that positive vibe! Glad this place exists for those who love the flavors of sushi but don't want fish, Nori does it well!
They have really great vegan sushi and a nice selection of cocktails and mock tails. I absolutely love the food. The volcano roll and edamame with chili sauce were top tier. I think Nori has some of the best vegan food in Austin. I originally had a great experience with the service but the second time i went it was not great. It took 30 minutes to have our drink order taken and the sushi rolls ended up coming out before our appetizers. I will still go back but i hope the service improves.
I am giving a very honest review. Great service, beautiful restaurant, but the sushi did not impress me. We got the chick'n kaarage as an appetizer, which was delicious! What followed was our Nagiri, the volcano, and the sunflower sushi, and these were all quite bland besides the sauces they were topped with. I was hoping for more flavor in the sushi itself. The strawberry cloud - full pour was yummy and seemed like a good amount of alcohol. So good service and ambiance, only 3 stars for food though, and not worth the money in my opinion. Everything is too expensive now. I'm sure they have to charge this much to even make it by.
We spent $109 including 15% gratuity for the dishes pictured. I went through the reviews deciding which ones to choose. Tempura and Cauliflower were so good. The white sauce with the cauliflower was amazing. Cauliflower was more flavorful, the onion was the best tempura the other didn't really have flavor but it was zucchini and eggplant so I don't expect a ton of flavor. We shared the curry and the volacano roll. Now, I was never as adventurous at a traditional sushi place before being vegan and was particular about what seafood I ate. It was freeing to just chomp down with little worries. The Japanese Curry with chicken was my favorite. I would have preferred more curry sauce compared to the amount of rice and veggies. Finally we had the chocolate cake which was the best when you took a bit of cake with ice cream and strawberry all I one bit. IMO there wasn't enough ice cream for the size of the piece of cake and the cake alone was too much chocolate for me. With one more scoop of icecream I would. Have finished it. The texture of the cake was so good. We got a ginger beer and a coke to drink. I love ginger beer this one was accepeptable but not as good as my favorite local brand. Now for the service. I didn't get my servers name. It was pretty bust at our 19:30 reservation but emptied out quickly. I did have to ask twice for a soda refill, they forgot to add a requested item to my order that we asked for to take home and said was no problem. None of this was 'bad' service just unfortunate when you pay so much for everything. When we went back in to get the missed item we got a bag but didn't get a bag for the 3 boxes with the extra we were taking home to the kids. Atmosphere was great lived the decor. I didn't think it was too crowded and they do have an outdoor patio. I do hate this new trend of them holding a machine, running your card and then standing there while you decide a tip. Restaurants with actual service are the only place I tip any more and am generally frustrated with US tipping culture. I believe they suggested 25% 18% and 15% plus of course you can not tip or custom tip but although I wanted to custom tip it felt weird being stared at with the machine being held while I decided. We will likely return and pergola just grab it take out next time.
Grate place, I took my friend there. She’s pregnant so it was a safe place to eat sushi. We had a great time our waitress was incredible. She was so patient and kind. I think they have great choices for vegans and overall it’s an incredible place. I definitely will be visiting again sometime soon.
We were here to celebrate birthday and being vegetarian, we’re very excited to try this place. Some dishes were amazing while other were pretty bland. We loved the volcano rolls so much so that inspite of being full we ordered it again to satiate our taste buds. Gyoza was good too. The service was average (neither bad nor good).
Me and my husband went there for a date night. We ordered Haisy Daisy and Spicy Pineapple for drinks (zero proof) and they both were really good, loved the after taste. In food we ordered Nigiri Sampler, Manhattan Roll and spicy edamame, all of those were delicious too and belgian chocolate cake was like a cherry on top, didn’t eat a better dessert than that ever in my life. Absolutely loved the food. The only thing l did not like personally is, there was no privacy, all the tables were so close to each other that at times it was hard to talk. (Tuesday night)
Rating: 4.3/5 [Doordash Delivery] Our first trying Nori was phenomenal. The second visit was still great, just not quite as impressive as the first. The prices are on the higher side, but the quality is solid overall. Dragon Roll ($16.49): Tempura asparagus, nasu (Japanese eggplant), and cucumber topped with avocado, sweet soy sauce, and sesame seeds. This was my second favorite roll. Spider Roll ($16.49): Soy paper roll with tempura seafood mushroom, spicy toona mix, avocado, radish sprouts, wasabi mayo, and unagi. This was my third favorite roll. Volcano Roll ($15.49): Deep fried roll with spinach, avocado, and sweet potato topped with spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, caviart, and tempura onion. It didn't really taste deep fried, but I'm not mad. The the flavors were on point so it ended up being my favorite roll of the night. Chick'n Karaage ($15.49): Small portion for the price. The chicken was a bit soggy and didn't taste deep fried, though the seasoning was good. Nigiri Sampler ($20.49): Includes six pieces. The tomato "tuna" was interesting. I liked it, but my husband didn't. I couldn't tell what the salmon one was made of. The rest were just okay.
My wife and daughter love sushi, so we came for my wife’s birthday and celebrated at the end of our meal with her blowing out a candle on a Belgian Chocolate cake. It was a fun end to a nice meal. We started our meal sharing two plates, one an Impossible Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) which were so-so and the second of Cauliflower Wings which was Cauliflower florets dipped in batter and deep fried, these were delicious. Then the ladies shared 4 plates of sushi - Creamy Crunchy, Shiitake Rolls, Manhattan Roll and Volcano. All were pronounced delicious. I had Japanese curry with eggplant, it was also delicious. The food was excellent, unfortunately Nori my be a victim of its success in that they are trying to accommodate too many diners. The tables we’re very close together and it was difficult to maneuver around tables to get to the restroom as we were almost rubbing elbows with the tables around us. The restaurant felt a little claustrophobic and it was quite noisy so it was difficult to hold a conversation in a normal voice. Additionally the wine pours were miserly. I was the only one drinking wine and I paid $12 for perhaps 4 oz of Tempranillo. Our total bill excluding my wine was $140.
Honestly, I think it was a pretty hyped place. The food was good, service was amazing and atmosphere was good too. For vegans, its indeed a heaven but I had a group of vegans along, they didn’t enjoy it much. So its kind of a mix reviews I believe this place has for me. Not really a must must visit but yeah a good place to stop by if one wishes to enjoy sushi.
These reviews aren't discussing why you don't get value for your money at Nori. Sure, food at Nori tastes okay, but the fine yet forgettable tastes compensate for many other details. Give any thought to their food and you'll realize how disappointing their dishes are. Caveat, if you're a vegan/vegetarian and want Japanese food then try Nori. You may gain something from trying dishes that are tough to find without meat, but know you're wildly overpaying. If you're not vegan/vegetarian, avoid Nori. I'm supremely confident that Nori uses boxed Golden Curry brand to create their curry. I know this because I've been using Golden Curry for a decade as a starter base. Everyone at my table agreed it tasted exactly like Golden Curry which costs $4 for 6 servings at HEB instead of $20 for 1 serving at Nori. Nori seems to use the mild or medium curry version and simply follows instructions on the box - add potatoes, onions, carrots, done. They served it to me almost room temperature which is, to be direct, absolutely wrong. Curry that's not piping hot is unappealing mush. If you've never had curry then think of it like very thick soup. Hot soup? Great. Cold soup? Can be good. Room temp soup? Universal no. The gyoza is the most obvious way they overcharge you. You get $15 for four pieces and an ocean of sauce you can't eat. You're given chopsticks for the gyoza which means that you can't do anything with the sauce beyond dip 4-8 times. There's likely to be 1/2 cup of uneaten liquids when you're done which you can't do anything with unless you pick up the plate and drink it. It's terribly wasteful of Nori and means you're paying for literal trash. The gyozas aren't fried, they're steamed, which means they're extra soft. Not a bad thing, unless you plate them in a swimming pool for guests like Nori does. The oil splatter marks all along the side of the plate suggest they plated the gyozas with as much thought as they put into the rest of the dish. A minor bright spot was the tan tan ramen. The mushrooms in it are absolutely delicious and by far the best thing my table ate. They should be featured in a stand alone plate. The tan tan broth is savory but safe meaning you'll remember a hot salty liquid with some thickness and no real character. A tan tan should have spice and richness offsetting gentle veggie tones. A larger problem is that there's not enough broth. Ramen should have plenty of liquid which absorbs flavor as you eat and becomes even richer by then end. They pack so much "stuff" in the bowl that you can't enjoy the liquid. That may sound like getting value, but you're actually being denied the basic nature of ramen. Then there's the service. Wait staff is genuinely nice but incomplete. Fir example, my table wasn't offered a refill of water. You also can't see the level in the glasses thanks to the spiked (very unappealing on your lips to drink from) texture so it's likely they didn't know. But they still didn't ask. They also didn't ask if we needed a box for leftovers. Felt like all personality without a real service touch. Our waiter also told us they're in between head chefs (as of August 2025) and they're using the old chef's recipes which may also be an issue. I'll be returning to try the sushi but my expectations are low. I've spent months traveling in Japan, Hawaii, and plenty of Japanese restaurants in between, so I can say that Nori is not worth a visit unless you're dietarily restricted from Japanese dishes.
