Fantastic pizza and fabulously delicious chicken riggies are just the beginning of how amazing this place is. PS: Easily the best Sicilian aka Grandma pie in town, get it or be ashamed that you didn't... it's that good!!! A must visit any time you're in B'ville. 😃❤
Stopped in because I heard they made sausage rolls in the area. So also ordered a calzone to see how well they were made, and even grabbed slices while there. I cannot say enough positive things about the food I had. If you haven't tried a sausage roll from here do yourself a favor and order one.
Haley was a great waitress. She waited on us hand and foot. She communicated very well a very nice fun person to be around.
Sal's is wonderful. I had chicken Francaise. Others had chicken Monterey, Cavatappi Asiago and shrimp riggies. Everyone was raving how delicious their meals were. Great, attentive staff.
Amazing pizza ! My son loves a perfect New York slice.
best bbq chicken pizza around!
My wife and I eat there 1-2 times a week. Wings are among the best in CNY and everything else is amazing. The bar is a must in bville as well. Highly recommend.
Best restaurant I've been to in years! Such a beautiful place and the food was amazing!.
Newer to the area so we’re slowly making our way through the local places. We ordered boneless wings and chicken wing dip. Staff on the phone was very nice, staff when picking up was great and friendly. Food was great!! Will definitely be back.
Casual atmosphere, dinners were excellent, hot, good portions. What part can you ask for?
Got to go order. Utica Greens were awesome and eggplant rollatini, the best I ever had. Definitely going back, this was the 1st time getting anything from Sal's. I had friends tell me how Sal's is and they are right.
I have found the BEST eggplant parm! The slices are lengthwise, in layers with cheese and then the whole thing is covered in a cheese blanket, and then the marinara. I asked for light marinara and that's exactly what I got, so the dish doesn't just taste saucy.
Our go to since living in Baldwinsville. Always on point. Never a crazy long wait for take out. Dining in is a whole different amazing experience. Love the recent renovations they have done. Highly recommend checking it out if you're strolling through town. Riggies are amazing. Pizza, obviously!
Sals has the best House Wings, Riggis, Lasagna, and the Burgers are delicious, everything is delicious! And the bar side is very warm and welcoming! Great staff all around great place! And that is why they are always busy!
One of the best gluten-free pizza crust I've ever had and it's made in house! Will definitely go in back to try other things on the menu! Everything is good on the menu!!
Food was great service was okay. Felt like they didn't want my kids there. They stuck me in the corner next to the broom closet. Other than that the food was amazing. Prices were fair.
Sals is always amazing , I just have one recommendation and maybe you do do this but I do not notice . Have the bartenders only tend to guests at the bar and have another server that takes care of the tables on the bar side . It is too much for the bartenders to tend a packed bar as well as manage all the tables surrounding the bar . think it may speed things up when it is busy. 10./10 spot tho we go there all the time great people and food
We ordered a large cheese pizza for national cheese pizza day. Also ordered a stromboli and stuffed shells dinner. The portions are generous aand the ingredients are high quality and fresh. I was impressed by the take out section walking into a clean and well organized establishment using fine ingredients and fresh toppings. I saw one of the employees making fresh pizza dough and another putting toppings on the pizzas. I felt good ordering dinner for the family here. Will order again.
I like the francais dish. Cozy atmosphere. Nice place. The scallops in the seafood greens were masterfully made.
Recieved a Too good to go order from them and received some amazing warm and delicious Garlic knots. I will be back.
Excellent staff and excellent service 👍 great chicken 🐔 soup especially this time of year 🥶 🧊 ☃️ 🧥, and 🥶 ☃️ 🧊 🧥 lots of parking to the west side.
Sals is a good pizza and place to get a drink and enjoy. Always good food and service.
Hi my names Steve Terrier Former food reviewer , I came into sals pizza for takeout in disguise. Great place and I’ll tell you what that pizza was insanely good and that sauce is to die for I’d even go to the extent to lather my wife up in that stuff! Only negative thing I had to say is that the chicken riggies/chicken riggie pizza …the rigatoni had spiraled lines on them and I’m a straight lines kind of guy so I noticed it a little to late and ended up coughing it up and it shot out like a bullet right at my wife’s eye and knocked her clean out 🤦♂️ I ended up having to rip the pasta off the pizza . I do recommend this place for anyone that bothers to read this and hopefully they make a house wing sauce and pizza sauce cologne .
Mary Jo was,our waitress...OMG I had ny birthday lunch there today with ten of us...She made sure everything was the best. She is definitely an asset to the restaurant
I always love to stop and grab a slice of pizza, or two. The buffalo chick pizza and the garlic pizza are my personal favorites. I always feel like you should be able to judge a place off of their plain cheese pizza as well. I would give their plain cheese a solid 8/10. Still an absolute banger of a pizza! The garlic knots are amazing here as well. The Sausage roll and the Chicken Riggies should also be tried when you come here!
Excellent food! Sat at the bar and order pizza & wings.
Great pizza and service. Reasonable prices. I would definitely go back
I just moved here from downstate NYC and was shopping in the area n seen Sal's. I stopped in and decided to have their Grilled Chicken panini n OMG....IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I had Sat down in the bar section and the lady who served us was very pleasant and even the group of people who came to watch college football were very friendly. Everyone knew everyone. It just felt like a great neighborhood friendly place to go to for good food, drinks and nice company. I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!
Amazing food. Chicken riggie pizza is sooo good, and steak sub and fries are my favorite. Keep up the great work!
Was good over a decade ago, still great to this day. They're my go to. Consistent quality. Great pizza and wings. Greta people.
The linguini with white clam sauce add broccoli and shrimp is to die for. My absolute favorite dish for 100 miles. I accidentally requested half of my pizza with no cheese when ordering online. Upon receiving the pizza and realizing my mistake Sal's made me a new pizza at no cost. Made my night. Way to go Sal's
We made reservations for my wife's birthday, they were super accommodating and the food was phenomenal! They're our new go to place for italian
these pizzas are fantastic! the amount of toppings they give you? incredible. total coverage. not a single gap of cheese to be found. also, the big mac pizza? greatest pizza i’ve ever eaten. and my favorite parts of all the pizzas ive had from them is the consistency of the dough. both crispy and chewy and warm in the middle. every slice is delightful!
I ordered delivery last night and the woman on the phone was extremely professional and kind. She was patient and had great customer service. I wish I remembered her name. Please let her know she does a great job. Also, the chicken wing pizza was delicious.
Another fabulous salon holiday party at Sal's! Great food, friendly and efficient staff and service. Festive holiday cocktails and Christmas decor in the cozy bar area! So many specialty pizzas, wings, Raviolis, chicken rigis and more! Best chicken rigis, go for the hot if you love the heat! First time having the ravioli's cheesey filled and mozzarella topped deliciousness! If you have not tried their tortellini in vodka sauce it is my favorite!
Always fabulous! If you're gluten free the cauliflower crust pizza is second to none!! The wings are absolutely great and food is always wonderful. Fun drink menu as well. It is a local favorite for a reason!
We've been twice, both times with other couples. Each visit has been a pleasure. The first time we met Sal, the owner. Watching him interact with servers and customers, occasionally helping a little, he seemed like a well known regular. He introduced himself and shared a little history of the restaurant and himself. He told us all the receipes are from or inspired by his has native Sicilly. On our second visit we were seated in quieter back room. Our server (James?) was knowledgeable regarding the menu and dishes and even helped us order off menu to get our dinner prepared as we wanted. Three of us had Chicken Franchaise and it was THE BEST I haD had in a long time. Accompied with fresh broccoli and a pasta it was the perfect meal. After seeing all of the great reviews of the pizza, we decided to take a cheese pizza home with us. Even "to go"the crust was perfect. The sauce flavorable and the cheese more than ample. Our only wish was that had tried the Bear Pizza. A request only, house secret. By all accounts EXCELLENT
Hi everyone, my last review was for another restaurant not this one. Somehow I butchered it and posted it here. How embarrassing! Anyway that was my fault and now to make things right. Sals Pizzeria in Baldwinsville is absolutely amazing! Everyone there is so kind and full of fun. There is one person that really stands out from the crowd though and that is Waitress Emily! Man, she will have you laughing and honestly just give you a real good time with a great memory of kind people and down to home feel. She is truly a rare gem in the food industry. She actually cares about her customers! We asked some questions and she came back with enthusiasm answers! It's so rare these days. We will be back the portions of food are huge and everything is absolutely tremendous! I've never had a bad meal here.
Sal's is great - the new bar space is excellent. Happy hour offers most appetizers at 25% off. I recommend the garlic knot sliders - so good. They don't always tell you that the sliders can be steak, chicken parm OR meatball so don't fall for the meatball only (still delicious).
My husband, Marty, and I went for dinner. We were seated immediately. Marty ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer with lasagna and coffee. I ordered a small Caesar salad, a small pizza with onions, green peppers and tomato and a diet Pepsi. Garlic knots arrived with our drinks. Our appetizers shortly after. The knots and mozzarella sticks were delicious. I liked the fact that the lettuce in the salad was chopped into smaller pieces and the dressing tasted homemade. Marty's lasagna was a good sized square and was made with meatballs. My pizza was their thin crust and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was attentive. My only complaint was while the waitress refilled my soda, she didn't ask Marty if he wanted a coffee refill. Price was reasonable. Would definitely eat here again.
Thank you Sal's! After a day of canoeing on beaver lake we definitely worked up an appetite. We have heard great things about the food and pizza so decided to give them a try. We are a family of 6 so we never know if there will be accomodations for our party size. We got there around 3:30 and got greeted and sat right away. It was only the bar tender but we didn't mind this at all. She got our drink order right away and did a fantastic job making my Manhattan. We didn't realize that there was a different menu for lunch and dinner so when we started reading the menu we were surprised that we couldn't find some of the items we heard about. After a quick explanation from the server and because it was so close to their dinner hour the staff allowed us to order off the dinner menu. We were so grateful for this because the food we ordered was exactly what we wanted. Everything was delicious and everyone was happy and satisfied. My favorites were the chicken wing pizza on the cauliflower crust, the pasta fagioil, and the lobster raviolis. But everything was great, service was excellent, and the kitchen staff gets 5 stars for accommodating us so graciously. Thank you.
Good food, good service, it was really busy but we got in quick. I'll definitely go back... recommend for an inexpensive good meal.
Food is good although side salad is just iceberg lettuce plus a couple other things. Pizza is excellent. We’ve been here a few times, lunch and dinner. Tonight we had lobster ravioli and meatloaf, both of which were very good. If you’re rushed, don’t come here. It wasn’t busy but after ordering, our food arrived about 35-40 minutes later.
Staff is always nice and friendly. Orders are usually missing something, example fries with a sub... Steak sub meat seems like it was changed, it’s not as tender as it was. It’s more chewy now and sort of thick. You never get steak sauce either. We have had a few pizzas delivered on different occasions that weren’t sliced. The wings are great. We really enjoy them. Especially the chargrilled extra crispy. Not a fan of the riggies because of the frozen chicken they use. Wish they would switch to fresh chicken.
The pizza here is ALWAYS completely satisfying in every way. I go here weekly for lunch. Thursdays and Fridays they do specialty slices that are to die for. The Korean bbq, the buffalo Mac and cheese, or the sweet chili pizza that they use the chicken from char broiled wings on, are all outstanding, among the massive selection of other pizzas. Ive yet to eat in the restaurant, but if its as good as the pizza, I couldn't imagine its bad by any means. Great service. Amazing food. 👍
Food was warm and hit the spot. We had this delivered and it took a while longer than they said it would. We tipped quite well for our food and that didn’t seem to get it there quick (which is why it got a four star). Otherwise, great pizza joint! Heard good things about their chicken riggies which I will try next time.
Pizza and wings were no where near as good as it was hyped up to be. Asked for the wings to be extra crispy and they were still rubbery. Pizza was fine, sauce was good but the dough lacked flavor. Gino and Joes across the street is way better and if you really want good Pizza go to Antonio's in bayberry
This place has excellent food. Great pizza and sandwiches at a great price. Service can be very slow in my experience, I went for lunch a few times.
We ordered at 8:10pm, delivered around 10:30pm. The delivery person stated that our order was delivered to the wrong person and had to be remade. By the time of delivery, kids were already passed out and it was a total waste of money. I’m not happy with this experience as nearly 2.5 hours is unacceptable.
My group of friends ordered pizza and wings for game night last night. We got 2 large Pizzas and an order of their house wings. We dug right in and it was all sooo good. I'm not a huge wing person but they were delicious. Then we get a knock on the door and they came with a 2nd order of wings that we didn't even call about and they said "sorry we gave u the wrong wings, here's the right ones" . We didn't even notice we had the wrong wings nor did we call and complain so that was fantastic customer service. Edit: hubby and I went for our anniversary dinner, we arrived at 4:30pm it wasn't very busy and we ordered. I ordered the stuffed shells but switched the sauce to alfredo and when the food came out, it was just the shells with a crap ton of melted Mozzarella cheese. I asked the waitress and she says "yeh I told them..but they just drained the butter and sent it out.. " then after asking for to go containers she brought me a cup of alfredo sauce for my left overs... and said "sorry, that's the best I can do right now". We waited for what seemed like forever between each encounter with the server. She got busy around 530, but by then we were just waiting for the check and change etc. Their pizza and wings are great, but I don't recommend dining in.. finally left at 6:10pm. I'm a bit shocked that a place with amazing customer service previously, has now just brushed us off and decided to send out food they KNEW wasn't done right.
Bland pizza & garlic knots that were somehow both soaked in garlic butter and completely dehydrated and crunchy. Sal's Deruyter location has way better pizza..
First time we came here it was amazing. Great food great service. Every time since is more and more of a disappointment. Slow, even on slow weeknights. Decided not to come back ever about a year ago. Tonight everywhere else was too busy and we decided on one more chance. Thankfully seated in just a minute or two. It was a little busy at first, so we waited a while for drink orders, but that's understandable. But then we waited another 15 minutes for the drinks, a draft beer and a cocktail. Again, nothing to complain about by itself since it was a little busy. We were able to place our orders when the drinks came. Appetizer and garlic knots came pretty quick, both were very good. So far, no major complaint. If that was the worst, I don't think I'd have minded. But then we waited for close to an hour. During this hour we waited another 15 minutes for another draft beer. When our food finally came out, the steak I asked to be medium was barely even rare. The lobster mac and cheese that was supposed to have "chunks of lobster" had only an empty tail shoved in the side. I think the worst part was how expensive it was. 24 bucks alone for mac and cheese by itself. It was late, we were tired. We just paid and got boxes. The food isn't inedible but it wasn't what we wanted and definitely not worth the cost (both in the time we spent being ignored and the money we begrudgingly gave them). I loved Sal's the first time I went. The second time I thought it was an off night. Now I'm feeling like the first night was the outlier. Won't be going back.
The food was very good, but the service was terrible. I'm sure it was just our server because the table next to us had really good service. My son's pizza was served room temperature like it had been sitting for awhile. The pizzas all came out about 15 minutes before the pasta dishes.. so that's really frustrating when only half the table had food. We then had to wait another 15 minutes just to get to-go boxes. I watched our server wait on other tables after she said she would bring our boxes. The table next to us asked for boxes and their server instantly brought them boxes. We kept waiting and waiting. I wish I could have left a smaller tip to show the server that we were unhappy, but we were automatically charged 18% gratuity.
My wife was looking forward to coming here for her birthday to enjoy the chicken riggies. Little did we know it would end up being the absolute worst service we’ve ever experienced. The waitress took almost 30 minutes to bring us our water and soft drinks. She took our order, asked us our sides for the dinners (soup or salad). Somebody brought over some luke warm and hard garlic knots. Well it took another 30 minutes for mozzarella sticks to arrive. I think it was a manager who had to bring them over because she was frantically waiting on a table of 8 ladies (who on the way out, told us they’d been there over two hours). She brought my salad right after the manager brought our app. When I asked her if she had forgotten my son and wife’s soup, she said “oh the riggie special doesn’t come with soup or salad”. Then why did you ask them if they wanted soup or salad?? After what seemed like another 30 minutes, some very saucy, luke warm dinners arrived. After dropping those off, we never saw her again until my wife caught her running back to the kitchen and asked for our check. No drink refills, no seasoning for the dishes, no asking how it was…. NO NOTHING! Obviously nobody taught this girl how to wait tables. Everybody in this section was unhappy. The only thing she was efficient at was bringing the check and taking the credit card. Thanks for ruining my wife’s birthday dinner!
we had a reservation for a larger party (15-ish people). It took about 30 minutes for them to get drinks situated and they forgot at least 3 drinks, 2 of which never arrived. It was an hour before they took food orders. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and annoyed to be waiting on us. They completely missed 2 people's dinners, and had to make them separate so they could eat after everyone else was done. We ordered a large pizza, ended up with someone else's medium pizza and still got charged for the large, and at that point it wasn't worth the hassle of the few dollars difference to get fixed. The food was pretty decent, it was just a very chaotic experience, maybe they aren't used to larger groups, I don't know. A side note, the floors were really slippery, like covered in oil or something, the tables and chairs were sliding all over the place the entire time.
Let’s start of with the good char grilled wings house sauce great. Then we got just a plain cheese pizza it was over cooked. The bottom of it had so much corn meal or what ever on it. Then it was black like they never clean the pizza oven. In my opinion I think gas station pizza is better.
Food is great if you are lucky to get it atleast warm. Delivery is terrible....constantly way past delivery time and food is cold. Never see food in thermal insulated bags.
The people in the take out pizza section on new years are inept, with listening skill issues. Easiest job to have and its still difficult for them apparently. Great pizza, not so smart men who heat it up.
Sunday night order for the family. Large pepperoni and cheese. Wings and such. Wings were cooked so hard they were tough to eat but the sauce was good. Crazy part was the 4 cold slices of pizza in the box instead of the complete pie. Driver didn’t sneak it, grease marks on the paper proved that. They were quick to fix the issue…..by dropping off another 4 slices…..in the end we got what we paid for…..being in customer service myself, I try to up my apology game when the situation happens. Gotta keep that quality control in check if your gonna charge a premium
Three things - told an hour for delivery-was over an hour and a half, asked if knots were included with riggies - told no so ordered four knots, paid extra for a Caesar salad and got a regular side salad, and knots did come with order so I didn’t need to place an extra order. Need to keep on top of this Sal - a little better customer service on the phone as well! I know the restaurant business is hard these days but attention to detail keeps people coming back!
Last week cheese pizza was $3.00 more, was charged twice as much for garlic knots for dine in. Today went in ordered/paid cheese pizza delivery at 630pm, called at 714pm pizza shows up 754 pm cold. 3 yr old grab slice said eww daddy cold and sauce tastes weird. Wife said it's sat out it's hard. Spoke with Nick didn't know what happened.
Went to Sal’s pizza on my lunch break and ended up getting a slice of chicken bacon ranch pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Which ended up getting me severely sick not sure if I got food poisoning or salmonella but let me tell you I will never get pizza for there again! Better off heading across the street to Gino & Joes pizza.
Ordered from this place many times. Had very good experiences. But lately it’s been awful. I order a bbq burger with bacon that consist of burger, cheese, onion rings, bbq sauce, and bacon. I got a hockey puck with one piece of bacon. Ordered it another time, Took over an hour for two meals and they were stone cold. Burger was raw. For the money they charge you would think it would be a somewhat decent meal. Rather have McDonalds.
We have come here twice now and it was horrible both times. Well this was our third time and we struck out again. Waitress was nice but overwhelmed and unable to be attentive. It took an hour to get our appetizer. We asked for the garlic rolls that come with the dinners and never received them until we asked a second time. My shrimp scampi was undercooked and swimming in oil. it was very disappointing for a third time. We will never be back.
Every time I get delivery it takes about an hour and a half and the food is lukewarm. I had to cancel an order again today because it was going to take about an hour and a half and an hour and 40 minutes to get me two pizzas. Do better for your delivery especially when you charge a delivery fee
Today is the second and last time that this happens. I called for delivery 3:45pm, lady told me wait time is about an hour 15 minutes. I call after an hour and a half. A guy tells me that there’s a big line, the pizza isn’t even done, that he couldn’t even tell me when the pizza would be out. I understand they’re busy but the disregard towards customers is amazing. It’s not like there aren’t other pizza places in Baldwinsville. Will not ever give them business again. - a Baldwinsville resident
Don't pay cash. My friend went there paid cash with a tip and they accused her of not paying after they cleared the table. They don't deserve anyone's business or hard earned money. The food is sub par.
Took hour and thirty five minutes to get out order...50 bucks (for 2 meals) later for a steak sub so hard the bread won't bend (and it wasnt toasted just stale) and no mushrooms when asked for extra and greasy soaked crinkle cut frozen fries. This is the 2nd time I have had this experience..wont be ordering again.
I'd give this place zero stars of it let me. My wife and I stopped for dinner this evening. We were sat at a table and absolutely ignored for close to 15 minutes, there were at least 2 waiters that walked by us, not a hello be right with you, nothing. So we got up and left. I know it won't affect your business with us never going back there, but if you're Into establiments with horrible hospitality than Sals in Baldwinsville is your place!
Haven’t been to Sals in a while, the wife and I wanted to come in to sit at the bar and get food. It was amazing, as always but we were disappointed with a bartender. She’s never waited on us before, her name was Brooke. She was rude to us when we sat down, first thing that came out of her mouth was “What do you want?” Thought it was weird because usually when we come in, the service is great. It took her a while to get our order because she was standing in the corner on her phone. Dinner was good, the other bartenders checked in on us and were attentive and nice. When brooke gave us the check, she slammed it down and didn’t say a word. I overhead the couple sitting next to us saying the same thing, that she was rude. I don’t know if she is new but she needs more training on how to talk to people. Anyways, we will be back but hopefully a night she isn’t working.
They had a deal pasta chicken and pizza 30 something dollars sounded great. The pasta was cold and dry with no flavor. The chicken was dry with the breading all off it. Do not recommend.
The order was a medium pizza, an order of wings and a salad. The total was $65. It was over 30 minutes late. The pizza was cold. And it cost $65. I like their food but I will never order from them again. Absolutely ridiculous. I know I'm old and used to pay $30 for the same thing, but if you're going to charge me for steak and lobster, make sure it's hot and on time.
