Topside, located at the top of Hotel Revival, is rolling out upscale drinks, elevated eats, and top-notch service. Enough with the puns but the sentiment is legit - Topside boasts some of the best views of the city and for good reason. Set 14 stories in the air, you have a great view of city and can see all the way to Natty Boh with everything in between. The food, drink, and service: Topside offers a good happy hour with a nice selection from PBRs to manhattans. The menu also has a nice selection from simple favorites - sliders and charcuterie to more extensive dishes like scallops, short ribs or salads. The wait staff was very attentive but not overly smothering. They allowed our rather large party to trickle in, get settled and enjoy our meal and even hurried up when we had to scoot for a showtime. To our delight, they even said goodbye by giving us a champagne toast to make the evening extra special. Thank you Topside! If you're in the area, definitely stop by - you wont be disappointed.
Five stars across the board. Delicious food, creative cocktails, and fantastic service with an incredible view. The photos online do not do this place justice. Plating is gorgeous and the flavors are at a James Beard level. We came for a birthday, and they went above and beyond by seating us at a table with the best view in the house. Started with the octopus and the melon and ham, followed by the lamb and duck. Every dish was outstanding. For dessert we had the strawberry shortcake, and they surprised us with three scoops of vanilla ice cream that was to die for. Came in with average expectations, left completely blown away.
High atop The Revival hotel stands this gem of a restaurant. Magnificent views of the City of Baltimore draw your gaze in multiple directions at once while the staff gets you polished food and drink to delight the palate. We made a special side trip to revisit after staying at The Revival about a year ago and thoroughly enjoying ourselves and their offerings. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Perfect for a date night!
Great food, and yummy cocktails. A great view as well at night. Beer salad, and mushroom pasta very tasty.
We love this place every time we go. The cocktails, food, service and the view are superb. However, I gave the atmosphere only 4 starts. It was cold in the restaurant and even later in the evening at B's speakeasy. COLD 🥶 Like the heat wasn't working or something. Other than it being cold, Topsides is one of our favorites. The picture is the view from our table.
Topside is by far the most posh, eclectic restaurant I have experienced in a good while. It is situated in a hotel 🏨 which also screams "retro" updated to fit into the Baltimore City, Maryland flow of life. Once inside the "retro" hotel you will be guided to proceed down the hall to catch the elevator to the 3rd floor. Timid souls might turn back thinking they were being summoned to Hotel California; where as by the lyrics in the song say "beware because you can check-in, but never leave." Once on the elevator 🛗 and on your to where or who knows what?; you will rest easy when the elevator doors open up to a nice and breezy landing where the host/hostess welcomes you into the Topside Restaurant. You will feel instantly refreshed and relaxed as you enter into an exclusive area reserved for Topsides' clientele. Once the host/ hostess takes you to your seat which will either be 1 of many tables strategically planted directly against the outer walls of this jazzy restaurant. All tables, no matter where you are taken to be seated, will have a 360 degree view of the Baltimore city highlights of this area; which I have been told, in earlier days was called Park Place. The bar is situated in the complete center of the restaurant pushed back against the center back of the restaurant's seating area. Even while a patron of the bar, you will be privy to a 360 view of the beautiful Baltimire City skyline 🌇. No table or area in this restaurant is a "bad" seat per the Creme de la Creme design of this eclectic restaurant. The service provided by the highly trained wait staff is impeccable. All staff were very well informed of not only the menu offerings, but also the way each meal was prepared including what temperature is best preparation for your intended meal choice; to what ingredients are in the selected menu choice. The food comes out pipping HOT 🔥 and all selections from the Beet Salad which I selected for my appetizer were very artfully displayed on the plate. So much so that the food on the plate screamed, "Don't eat me," as if in some strange Alice In Wonderland food movie. I selected the Monday evening Burger selection, which comes with your choice of Beer. The burger selection looked and tasted like a +5 star selection at a stuffy upscale restaurant. But, with none of that feel of upscale nastiness and pompous attitude. Clearly the most interesting part of your whole experience will be the fact that you cannot believe the pure joy view you get from all seating areas in the wonderful environment you are seated in at this restaurant. I guess whoever choose Topside as the name of this restaurant was not kidding. And, if you are lucky enough to be seated when dusk falls on the city's landscape, you have another treat awaiting you as the night view at Topside Restaurant is like no other I have seen in Baltimore city. You will be more than impressed if you happen upon this eclectic restaurant where the staff is ready and engaged to please their clientele. Don 't miss visiting and dining at Topside. You will NOT be sorry you did!
Flavorful dishes, beautiful views. cool jazz evenings and potent cocktails. What more could a girl want.
Occasion: Birthday dinner Cocktails: Sangria, white sangria Starters: bread basket and cheese board Dishes: Chicken thigh - collard greens - cornbread; duck breast-fennel puree- - blackberry gastrique - asparagus; maitake mushroom The starters: breads taste fresh, and together with butter and cheeses were delicious! The dishes were well seasoned and well presented. The view of the city is beautiful!
Very nice place good for upscale experience or casual affair. A great go to spot. The Duck was crazy good a must try.
EXCEPTIONALLY great place for a date night! The cocktails AND mocktails are amazing and so very creative! I mean … I never heard of coffee GIN - so I went ahead and Defined Gravity as suggested by the bartender 😉 Small but very creative menu… we had grilled 🐙 & 🍤 n grits for our meal - YUM! 😋 followed by a round of House Special Espresso 🍸 (omg yum) with shaved chocolate 🍫 (!) and salted caramel panna cotta (11/10) It rained the night we went, but otherwise - great views all around! Will return 100%!
Pricey but delicious, and one of the best views in Baltimore! Sue was our server and she was excellent. Nice decor throughout. Random but I thought they could’ve had nicer-smelling soap in the bathrooms. Otherwise literally no complaints!
The food was tasty and the view was awesome. This is a great restaurant if you’re looking to pamper yourself.
My husband and I went to Topside for our anniversary and it was amazing! The place is absolutely beautiful and is inside Hotel Revival. The hotel is also very beautiful! They Valet if you don’t want to look for parking at $17 for the first two hours. Our server was amazing, energetic, friendly, and very helpful. She gave us recommendations and even a history lesson of what we were seeing outside of the window! It was George Washington by the way lol. You get an amazing view of downtown Baltimore. The food was delicious and came out quick. They even have non-alcoholic drinks that are pretty delicious. 10/10 would recommend this to friends! Thank you for the hospitality!
Woah. Excellent drinks, excellent food, AND excellent views. Got some cocktails — created and made by a stellar bartending staff. Try ‘em out. Burrata is AMAZING! And so is the shrimp and grits. Get them both!
Excellent eclectic modern restaurant with a vibrant vibe, wonderful location atop a charming boutique hotel, and in a historic cozy neighborhood. Mixology is innovative, well executed, carefully designed, pleasant to the eye and the palate. Good wine cart. The menu is not extensive but well varied, with an eclectic combination of classic staples from American cuisine mixed with European flavors and reinvented classics. Dishes are well presented, stimulating to the eye and the palate, and very much satisfying. The positive surprise was the price,, very moderate considering all other aspects. The only negative point is that bread is only offered as a paid appetizer for $15. Though it is very good, for a restaurant of this level a basic bread basket should be offered as a compliment.
There’s only one elevator to the 15th floor so getting up and down from there can take forever. Love the seasonal cocktail menus. The sangria is always a great choice. Drinks are refreshing and I even like whiskey drinks when I order them from here. I’ve never been so pleasantly surprised at the dessert option for people who can’t have dairy. I’m very used to being handed a sad dry cookie/pastry, but Topside brought me the most amazing mango sorbet I’ve ever had! It did make the waiter very sad when I asked for everything without dairy due to intolerance so I’d appreciate not being told removing the feta compromises the dish when I literally cannot eat feta. It doesn’t help. Otherwise, the food was great! We were super happy to go here for restaurant week after two years of saying we needed to go to Topside for food sometime.
Went here with a group of friends, and everything was great!
This place has been on my list for years and I don’t know why it took me so long to go. The atmosphere and decor were cool, and the views were amazing (there was a beautiful sunset) and the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the bread basket (came with 5 breads and 2 butter) and the tuna appetizer. I will definitely be back!
We came for the views and will return for the excellent food and fabulous service! Joshua S. took great care of us during the course of our meal. We were lucky enough to come during restaurant week and got to take advantage of a fabulous brunch deal - 3 courses for $30. Mimosas and zero proof mocktails (“You’re gonna be popular”) were refreshing and tasty, the scones were delicious, and the kouign-amman was to die for! We got the eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles, and the French toast. All of it was delicious - balanced flavors and stunning presentation. We were most impressed with our service, Joshua was warm and able to answer all our questions and really made the experience memorable. Would definitely return!
Great food, drinks, and views. Reservation is recommended but bar is likely to accommodate a couple. I had duck breast and potato leak soup, very tasty! They also have their logo in the ice cubes. Update: avoid the steak, it’s cooked from frozen and not particularly flavorful. The Ricotta and sunset views are nice though.
This place came highly suggested from several friends that are local. The bar itself is gorgeous and the cocktails are an absolute must. Definitely take advantage of the sunset for dinner and stay long enough for the night views. I hate being that person to say that everything food wise was good but this place was absolutely on point with food.
Amazing views, incredible food, great service. Chef Alexis knocks it out of the park with each course. So many delicious flavor combinations. Tasty cocktails sipped overlooking Mt Vernon in a great atmosphere. Great attention to details down to the copper flatware. Just go see for yourself.
Decided on a rooftop experience, and this one didn't disappoint! Situated in what appeared to be a swanky hotel or museum called Revival. Upon entry, the gentleman there guided us to a corridor that led to the elevator to the restaurant. There was no one waiting to check us in, and it looked pretty full. We walked around looking for the staff to seat us. The window seating was full, so we had the inner panoramic view. The table and chairs were lop-sided and annoying, but nowhere else to sit but the bar. Hanna was our waitress and I love her customer service. We ordered lobster pasta and miso fish along with old fashioned and reisling. The food was exquisite!! Besides the terrible tables/chairs all else was A+
Amazing upscale rooftop restaurant in Mount Vernon overlooking gorgeous Washington monument square. The food especially the duck was delicious. The menu is compact but each dish seems to be well made with good portions. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was unmatched with the window seat views and candlelight ambiance. There is also a decently extensive wine menu and great dessert particularly the sorbets to boot. Perfect for a fancy date night
A feast for the eyes this restaurant offers the breathtaking views and the beautiful small plates. The entrees are small too, big on flavor. The cocktails are really good. The Rose sangria with Botanical Vodka and fresh strawberries was a hit for me because it smelled as good as it tastes— hints of rose and fruit. I know it’s hard to go by pictures of our plates. Everything was so good I was well into eating before I remembered to snap a few pics. Get the cheese board, meat board and bread to get started. The blue cheese is creamy good especially with the warm raisin bread. The staff can help you make up your mind about what to eat and suggest combinations to try. You will enjoy a beautiful evening as the sun goes down over Baltimore— she never looked so good! Enjoy
Amazing views !!! Amazing cocktails and amazing food ! Dinner at sunset offers the best view of the city. And enjoy it while having the short rib! Save room for desserts !! Our server Monday was lovely and attentive.
Great views and great food. The sauces were by far my favorite and went well with each of the dishes they came with. They all had a perfect natural flavor. The ricotta and tuna tataki were my favorite and the seafood rice was also very good. All were tastes so unique that youre unlikely to taste them anywhere else.
Amazing food, excellent service, cool vibe and decor. And where else can you get all that and great views of the city?
I may have just had the best meal I have ever had in Baltimore. This is a gem that deserves all the flowers. I was very surprised that a restaurant above a hotel could be so good. We had a reservation and were promptly seated by a window. The whole place has great views but being right by a window was lovely. The menu was filled with options that appealed to both me and my partner. After several moments of indecision our server suggested the burrata which came with "compressed watermelon". I had never heard of such a thing but it was amazing, all the sweetness of a melon but less watery than regular watermelon but nonetheless juicy. The crushed croutons added a salty kick to the savory burrata, and the sweetness of the melon, plum, and even the more subtly sweet tomato complimented the peppery arugula well. All the flavors melded perfectly, effortlessly. I've never been so pleased by an app. Me and my fiance demolished it, and that's rare for us two. For mains we got the chicken and the short rib. The chicken was served with butternut squash puree, brussel sprouts, and mushrooms. I don't know how they season, brine, or marinate that chicken but it was perfect. Soft, juicy, with a hint of sweetness about it. Every bite a pleasure. The sweetness of the butternut puree, the brussel sprouts were indescribable but some of my favorite ever. And those mushrooms? I'd give up meat for them. And the short rib, again a perfect pairing of umami and sweet flavors that were consistently delightful and never overwhelming. The short rib sauce/gravy tasted red wine based with maybe tomato paste? Whatever it was, I loved it and over the the cloud of mash potatoes? A dream. They were so soft you might have thought they were instant but they lacked the subtle gumminess I dislike about instant mashed potatoes. And the flavor was superb, garlicy but not too much, creamy without the heavy dairy feel, it didn't need the short rib sauce but was delightful with it. And the carrots! Simple yet delicious. The had a good firm texture, sweet taste, and still maintained that quintessential carrot flavor that sometimes gets lost if you overseason or overcook them. The entire meal was a trifecta of umami, sweet, and texture that was rewarding to the last bite. It is RARE to see my fiance finish an entire meal when we go out and his plate was clean. The cocktails were good as well but I was so blown away by the food that the words I have for them don't compare. Definitely one of the best sangrias I've ever had but the food was the star for me. Amazing view, amazing food, and the wait staff was delightful as well. Sue was warm, friendly, attentive, and I'm so glad she recommended the burrata to us. Absolutely no notes. Loved it from start to finish.
The place is my new favorite. We stopped for the view and drinks which are amazing, pleasant atmosphere and design, service is great and the food… omg, the food is the best - best dessert (passion fruit) I ever had, the best mushroom soup I ever had and the best chill sea bass I ever had… they make their own ricotta cheese (appetizer on the picture). Highly recommend.
Topside was the last thing we wanted to experience as our stay in Charm City drew to a close. Staying at the Revival made it easy to take the trip to the top floor of the hotel to enjoy the expansive views of historic Mount Vernon. We were greeted by friendly staff shown to an amazing harbor-view/monument view table and presented with the menu of favorites. Since we were there for brunch, we opted for the coffee and OJ, and both were great. The Chesapeake Benny and Croque Madame both pleased us with their generous portions and well-seasoned flavor. Adding to the ambiance was the friendly but professional service of the staff. Prices were in-line with other similar restaurants of similar caliber with the upside of the amazing views. In other words, if you want the view without a premium price, make a reservation for Topside. Sadly we missed trying the dinner menu, but I'm sure we'll be back on our next visit to the city!
Such a great meal! Soo gave the best experience for my partner and I. This is our first time in baltimore and our night was made, warmest welcomes around. *we both got the duck and it was to die for per recommendation!
Oh my! Brunch was excellent. Soo a friendly staff waitress with many tables could show more energy than this customer at 10am on a Sunday. We were relaxed and ate the best French breakfast with coctails. View was great. Hotel a boutique stay. Tip based on your values to do the same work.
Came for brunch on a Saturday. The staff was great. Getting seated, ordering food and drink, and receiving food and drink were all FAST. There wasn't a lot of ppl in there at the time so that may be why. Either way great experience as far as that goes. The view is IMMACULATE! I got the chicken and waffles. It was not worth the price at all. The cook was good on everything, but the flavor was not there. Without the syrup, there was no distinguishable flavor imparted by the waffle. The chicken was cooked very well. Mad it didn't have any seasoning. Just tasted like chicken...that was fried. The lychee martini though....BANGIN'. 3.5⭐ if I could give it I will say my gf's croissant dish was REALLY good. They just dropped the ball on my dish.
Fantastic meal, mediocre service (but the food and drinks were good enough to let the service slide). The octopus was perfectly cooked, with charred ends. The combo of the small pork belly really elevated the flavors. For dinner, we got the ribeye and the lamb. Personally, enjoyed the ribeye with the chimichurri sauce (comes with the lamb) and the lamb with the red wine sauce (which came with the ribeye). And the fries? The better version of McDonald’s fries. Views were amazing! Espresso martini and their drink of the month were also fantastic. Would absolutely go back again!
Well lit atmosphere with gorgeous views of the city. The staff at the front desk of the hotel as well as the restaurant were more than accommodating. The octopus could have been grilled a lot harder to avoid serving it. The taste was very gelatinous and chewy. The shrimp with polenta was a much better taste. I would like to come back and try the lions mane entree. Lord willing I'll be back.
Boyfriend enjoyed the duck entree and his old fashioned. I had the lion’s mane, which was pretty good. Served paired a sauv Blanc with the savory lion’s mane entree. The peach shortcake with sorbet was tasty. Beautiful atmosphere. Great staff. Food was okay for me, left a little hungry.
Brought my fiance here for dinner. Bit of a hassle to get reservations- emailed weeks prior twice but got no response from the restaurant, had to call twice (restaurant doesn’t always pick up) and when we arrived they couldn’t find our reservation. Thankfully the manager was able to get us a table without a wait. Our waitress was friendly, good service. Restaurant is indoor rooftop at Hotel Revival, nice casual ambience, views of the city. We were seated on the side where we got a good view of the monument (first monument made of George Washington). For apps we ordered the bread basket (focaccia was amazing and the spread comes with two types of butter), Spanish shrimp (jumbo shrimp sits atop a grits cake, has peppers onions sausages), and green salad. All very good. For entrees my fiance has the topside burger which he liked, big portion and comes with a ton of fries. Fries were pretty plain, could use some salt. I had the duck breast which they butter basted and was delicious- had it done medium rare. small portion, great presentation, super tender. Worth checking out if you’re staying at the hotel or in the area! Would come back to try other dishes.
Great panoramic views here to go with some scrumptious cocktails. Staff was personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. Appetizers and entrees were what one would expect for the price and nicely presented. Mushroom soup appetizer and the lobster with squid ink pasta entree, along with the seabass, were underwhelming. The ricotta appetizer, along with duck and short ribs entrees was delicious.
The view from this place is amazing. But I was a bit disappointed by the cocktails. We went there to enjoy the view with some drinks on a Friday evening. The drinks were underwhelming. Didn't try any food.
The views at sunset here are great. The ambiance and overall atmosphere is fantastic. It's a good place to hang out, maybe get some drinks. The food was decent, The cauliflower was good and the Crudo was really good. The yellow balloon mocktail was fantastic and our bartender was great. Make sure you try and get a reservation because it's really hard to get seated here without one.
Topside was a lovely experience that I plan to do again. The views are spectacular. The service was excellent and the food is delicious. I was a little taken back by the old fashion on draft but it turned out to be a wonderful cocktail. My seafood rice was seasoned well and full of flavor. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
Topside is one of the city’s staples, thanks to the charming views of the monument & surrounding parks. The service/attitude here is a bit of a hit or miss—nothing too bad, but there have been times when things felt awkward with random comments from the host/servers. Just keep in mind that the monument view is only possible from one side of the restaurant (make sure you tell the host if you are there for the views). The atmosphere is quite nice and has an upscale feel. Their small plates and cocktails make a great combination—I prefer those over their entrees. Worth a visit for the views & atmosphere.
The food was good and the view is definitely a highlight, but the experience had a few challenges. The menu felt limited, and several items weren’t available. The menu had also changed without notice, which made choosing dishes a bit confusing. We also weren’t informed about a private event at 9 PM, even though my wife booked the reservation for my birthday, so the evening felt a little rushed. Our server was pleasant but not very proactive. Overall, a decent spot with great views and good food, but some communication and service improvements would make a big difference.
Everything was great instead of the food, our server was amazing and very attentive, but that food honey absolutely NOT my husband and I ordered the rib eye steak with fries and the only part that was good was the fries. There was literally no seasoning on the ribeye at all, the butter they put on top came in handy as it gave the steak a little bit of flavor. I wouldn’t go again though because of the food alone and I know that restaurants can’t use a lot of seasonings due to people’s preferences and health concerns but a little sprinkle of seasonings wouldn’t have been that bad.
The atmosphere and view are impeccable as was the service. The cocktails were also quite tastey, even if the portion size was less than you would get at a comparable cocktail bar at the same price range. The food, while cooked well lacked flavor to the point I needed to ask for salt and pepper since they weren’t on the table. The food could have used other seasonings as well, but I doubt they would have brought additional seasonings if requested. For the size of the portions, quality of the taste in comparison to the price, it was overpriced. Comparing other restaurants of a similar price tier such as Magdalena, The Ruxton, The Charleston, etc. it does not compare. I also find that in the handful of times I’ve eaten he ate over the last decade, the menu has largely remained the same, although I recall the taste being better. Perhaps this will be better as a happy hour location rather than dinner.
Amazing views and very cool layout. Came on the early side thinking apps and cocktails - and although there were already some other guests there they didnt seem "ready" for service. Cocktails were ok, but the house old fashioned was made with a spirit that tasted more like scotch. After 1st round of cocktails and observing service to decided food was not in our cards that night. We loved the view and will definitely go back for another try.
Disappointing. The menu listed online is not current, so don't plan on what to order ahead of time. The food was just so-so. We ordered the octopus starter, it was room temp when it came out. Same with the the toast and ricotta, also room temp and the bread was dry. The atmosphere was lacking and they piled dirty plates on the side by the window. For the price I would recommend going elsewhere
I went here tonight for the first time. Was loving the atmosphere and vibe and view, got the bread basket and that was great and then ordered a burger and salad. I ate part of my salad then ate my whole burger. Went back to eat some bits of the salad and before I went to take a bite I had a giant fly of some sort dead in my salad. They tried to comp it with a dessert but after that my appetite was gone. I’d come back for drinks but eating here has lost my business.
We visited the restaurant for a birthday celebration, just my wife and I. The evening started well: the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was decent. I ordered the ribeye steak, while my wife went with the lamb. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. From the very first bite, my steak had an unusual taste. In hindsight, I should have stopped eating immediately, but I gave it a couple more bites before deciding not to continue. Less than two hours after getting home, I began experiencing intense stomach pain that lasted through the night and into the following evening. I was in and out of the bathroom constantly, and my wife concluded that I likely had food poisoning. She called the restaurant the next day and spoke with the manager. The manager was polite and expressed sympathy, but she also mentioned that food poisoning typically takes 10 to 12 hours to manifest, something that didn’t align with my experience. She then offered to invite us back for another visit, which, while well-intentioned, seemed out of touch given the circumstances. After an episode like that, the last thing I’d want is to return. My wife asked her to at least take a closer look at the kitchen and review the quality of the ingredients being used. Had the pain lasted any longer, I would’ve gone to the ER and reported the incident to the local health department. Thankfully, some OTC medication helped, and I recovered. But this was a deeply unpleasant experience that overshadowed what was supposed to be a special evening.
