Opiniones de Pollo's Berkeley
I had the chicken kabob for lunch at Original Pollo, and it was absolutely delicious! The food was freshly prepared, and the flavors were fantastic. The staff was very friendly and provided great service. The diner itself was clean and welcoming, with a convenient location near the Downtown Berkeley BART station and UC Berkeley. I would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back!
Got the bacon cheeseburger and made it a double. It was perfectly cooked; both the burger and bacon. My partner got a steak burger with fries it is huge for the price. I suggest adding cheese to it. Very large portion of fresh very hot fries. I’m the picture I added that is only half the fries. I had the rest with my burger. Can’t wait to try other food here
Had breakfast. Good small old school classic breakfast and lunch place. Simple but customizable menu, fresh squeezed orange juice, free dine-in coffee refills. Friendly staff. Credit cards OK. No restrooms. Accessible dining. (Residence Inn one block away is good choice). Street parking but could be tricky.
The. Best. Breakfast. Burritos. In. Town. I do not exaggerate and worry about telling the world. Pollo’s makes a simple and tasty breakfast burrito with soft potatoes, distributed melted cheese goodness, and perfectly fluffy eggs. And the price is unbeatable.
There is something so comforting to the soul about dining at an old world establishment like this. Pollo’s is a holdout of old fashions while it’s surroundings rapidly embrace modernity. The food is typical diner food done very well and the prices are unbeatable for the area. The owner knows most customers by name and that shows the impact restaurants like these have on the community.
Great food, reasonable prices, and friendly attentive staff!
My favorite breakfast place in Berkeley. Great food and very friendly service!

Great food, reasonable prices, and friendly attentive staff!
My favorite breakfast place in Berkeley. Great food and very friendly service!
Affordable place that opens early for early risers like me. I also don’t like the typical breakfast food that much and this place offers what most people wouldn’t consider breakfast food for breakfast. I had a chicken filet hot plate with a side of salad and rice. It was great for the price and super convenient.
Great food and location, good prices and great owner! I wish the portions were slightly bigger, but everything else was great! Big fan of fresh squeezed orange juice.
I LUV this place. I worked down the street for 3 1/2 years & I ate there multiple times a week. I just ate there a few days ago; & while looking around at the dozens of restaurants in Berkeley to choose from, my friend & I both yell, "Pollo's." The cool thing about Pollo's are the MENU & the owners - two older guys that seem to always be there. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS. The MENU is hard to explain- there is something for everyone: burritos, salmon, steak, BBQ plate, breakfasts (all day long), best burgers & fries plus NY deli-style stuff. I had a 1/2 lb BACON cheeseburger w/fries. It WAS EPIC! Great charcoal grill flavor. LUV their fries. I don't understand how they get them so crispy. When I worked nearby, I felt very virtuous when I could order, "...just 1/2 order of fries...", when what I really wanted to do was shove the old guy out of the way and stuff my gullet. Next time your down at the Freight & Salvage or Half Priced Books or getting off BART, stop-by. They are open ALL DAY. You will be very, very happy.
I ordered the Nachos with rice, refriend beans, carne asade, and sour cream. It was by far one of the best nachos I've ever had. It was just so delicious!
Always friendly and tasty! OP is longtime family owned.plus same grill man who always say hi to me, a customer for 20 years. I usually go for the great gyro (extra tzatziki!), BLTs and fresh lemonade, burritos, but all is fresh and made to order.
The chicken here is so good. Nice char on the outside but juicy, not dry on the inside. Comes with 2 sides; it's a great bargain for a nice filling meal. If you're in the mood for breakfast, they have it all day. Added bonus is that the owner is a super nice guy.
This place is more like labor of love than a way for an owner to get rich—a community resource. Reasonable prices, yummy satisfying food, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bad reviews for this place are more a reflection of rotten entitlement in a reviewer than an issue with the restaurant. It’s a diner with amazing taste. Understand that and you’ll walk out happy every time. Just want to thank the proprietor and staff for keeping the soul of Berkeley alive. We as customers need to love and patronize these kinds of special places before they all disappear and turn into fast-casual chains.

Pollos is a great place for a good breakfast/brunch. There's never a long line because it's not a fancy brunch place. You get to sit down immediately instead of waiting an hour They do make great omelettes and scrambled eggs. Prices are good too.

Breakfast burrito was extremely mid, lacked flavor and generally didn’t meet expectations.
I went to Pollo because I always liked the food. I was disappointed at the $16.00 burrito. I mean it might have been worth it if the flavor was good. I didn't taste cilantro or salsa. There were alot of beans and rice. Very little guacamole. The service was good. It was only me the owner the cook and another young lady. It was very quiet.
The owner was polite, but the food was only 2 stars at best. I got a denver omelet, which was very pedestrian. It was ok. Nothing special. I saw the cook rub his nose & then immediately touch food on a plate, in the kitchen. I will not go back. No offense, but that sealed the deal. The owner was talking to the cook right when the cook did the deed but said nothing. I already paid for my meal, so I stayed, but I won't go back.

i got my food to go. my chips were so stale, like unbelievably stale. idk how they found such stale chips to give me. i got a beef burrito, and it was cold inside. like not just the sour cream and guac, the rice, the tortilla, the meat. the whole inside was cold and cheese wasnt even melted fully. idk what the vibes are here and how some people get great meals and some don't. wouldnt go back here again if im just going to be given bad food :-/ for a $16 burrito, really upsetting and waste of my money

Location is nice, it is right in the downtown of Berkeley. But the old guy is quite arrogant and food was far from healthy and low fat and gosh, I have never seen smaller portions in my life (maybe that’s the low fat part with diet ….)
Employees and service are great, but the food leaves a lot to be desired. The chicken and rice are obviously microwaved. The salad had rotting iceberg lettuce in it. The rice was so burnt and overdone it was crunchy. The chicken was hard to eat and I nearly choked. Overpriced ($14 for this) for what you're given, definitely not fresh.
