Opiniones de Dizen Goff Bloomfield
We came to Philly for a Mike Solomonov food tour and came here for the yummiest brunch ever!!! The malawach was amazing and don’t even get me started on the hummus and schug because I won’t shut up about it. SO good!!!
They had some delicious hummus and shakshuka. The Turkish coffee was rather light however. Would recomme the food though!
Dizengoff ruined hummus for me everywhere else. Ultra-creamy, perfectly seasoned, and dangerously scoopable. Every dish shows up bold, comforting, and made for “just one more bite” decisions. The kind of meal where you look up and realize the bowl is empty and you’re smiling about it. Come hungry. Leave happy.
Excellent dinner! Bit pricey but the quality is high. I’d recommend any of the hummus and the hanger steak. The greek salad was also top notch. Great ambiance and friendly staff as well.
One of our top spots in Philly! I've enjoyed lunch here twice. Booking ahead is wise to skip the wait. The staff is friendly and efficient—we were seated promptly. For appetizers, we savored the Turkish Hummus, wonderfully creamy and bursting with flavor—definitely a highlight. Our main dishes were the Shawarma spiced lamb platter and Sabich Sandwich, both delicious. The Sabich Sandwich exceeded expectations with its delightful taste. Don't miss out on the refreshing Chai Soda—it's worth a try! Looking forward to our next visit already. IG: journey_man16
O.M.G. This has made my top 10 places in philadelphia. The restaurant is gorgeous, my host for the evening (server) ema was amazing. Being my first visit i allowed her to select my entire dining experience for me and every single thing was exquisite. Every dish complimented and surpassed the previous one. I have never had such a cohesive meal that wasn’t from a tasting menu. Truly a divine experience for a “casual dining” restaurant. The only potential negative thing is that its extremely loud inside but that is a testament to how much everyone is enjoying themselves. Do yourself the EXTREME favor and come here ASAP. DO NOT DELAY.
I recently dined at Dizengoff in downtown Philadelphia, and it was truly an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the hummus sampler, featuring Hummus Yerushalmi with pine nuts and beef, Hummus with mushrooms, and hot Turkish hummus served in a skillet. Each variety was outstanding, and the warm, tasty pitas were the perfect accompaniment. For the main dishes, the dorado fish in tzatziki sauce and the lamb neck with pistachio were mouth-watering and flavorful, showcasing a wonderful blend of spices and textures. The service was also excellent—attentive and friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable. If you’re in Philadelphia, Dizengoff is a must-visit for an exceptional taste of Israeli cuisine!
Dizengoff effortlessly transports you straight to the bustling streets of Tel Aviv, all while nestled in the heart of Philadelphia. From the moment we stepped in with two kids in tow, the vibe was undeniably hip, yet remarkably relaxed. We were immediately seated and met with genuinely warm hospitality, with the staff thoughtfully suggesting a hummus, pita, and fries combo for the little ones – a genius move that set the tone for a fantastic meal. The hummus? Pure, unadulterated bliss. Seriously, it's the kind of creamy perfection that sets a new standard. But the true showstopper was undoubtedly the charred eggplant with cherries. Hands down, the best I've ever encountered in a restaurant. This culinary gem, paired with their delicious Dizengoff beer, made for an exceptional dining experience. Dizengoff nails the trifecta: incredible food, a cool atmosphere, and family-friendly warmth.
Tonight, we tried the new and evolved Dizengoff in Rittenhouse ❤️ "Colorful" is the best way to describe everything from the decor to the cuisine -- an impressive attention to details and immaculate technique for every vegetable, meat, pita, and cocktail they place on your table. If you're looking for a lively date night, are a picky eater, or have dietary restrictions often -- this is your destination! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What an incredible return for Mike Solomonov and the Diz crew. I was nervous heading in, how could they make bettet on the hummus swooshing spot and also diversify from other restaurants? Idk why I worried this was incredible! A truly diasporic meal that spoke to my Jewish soul. Various Israeli/Jewish dishes as well as others from other African and Middle Eastern Jewish cultures. Highly recommend the hot Turkish hummus, the boreka, the roasted squash salad, and the smoked cabbage. I'm not a vegetarian, and the smoked cabbage blew my mind. Definitely grab dessert, you wont regret the not too sweet bite. I can't wait to return again and again and again!
A trip to Philly is incomplete without Dizengoff! That's how much I love their hummus. It's super creamy and the pita bread is also so soft. The salad compliments the hummus very well. All of their hummus dishes comes with a side of pickles, a salad, and a pita. You can buy an extra pita for $1, which I recommend especially when sharing. Their lemonana drink is also very refreshing. Don't forget to request for the red and green spicy sauces on the side.
Hands down my favorite dining experience in recent memory!! My friend and I could not get enough of the Turkish hummus, rice pilaf, boreeka, and dorade. Everything was soooo delicious and packed with so much flavor. I only wish we had an even bigger appetite going in..I would have honestly loved to try everything on the menu. The all out recess cocktail was perfect and I had the good fortune of getting to try the best whiskey sour of my life!! (the bar was kind enough to send one over after hearing how much I enjoy them 🫶) The SERVICE honestly deserves its own separate review. Even though the restaurant was packed, the way the staff engaged with us made me feel like I had just walked into a dinner party hosted by a close friend. Everyone is clearly so happy to be there and genuinely believes in the quality of the food being served. What an absolute treat it was to be immersed in such warm energy. If I lived in Philly, I'd be coming here every week, without a doubt. I cannot recommend Dizengoff highly enough!!
So much of the cuisine was reminiscent of my childhood, which is difficult to attain here in the States. From the Chicken Schnitzel, thinly cut, tenderized, and perfectly fried topped with Pickled Goodies and a dip that compliments it perfectly all the way to the Hummus Masabacha. The added spinach dip with beans was deeply appreciated, housing a rich umami flavor similar to those from anchovies. What I will strongly recommend you get is the Tahini Ice Cream sandwiches. These bad boys are vegan, but you wouldn't know it from the excellent imitation cream that can best be described as mousse like. I cannot recommend them more highly. Overall, it was an amazing meal. The service was top-notch as well. Attentive staff.
We really love this place everything is delicious. There is a fantastic customer service. You get a lot on your plate with salad and spicy deep. Also on Sunday they have shakshuka super delicious. Super recommend good vibes. You can have extra on your hummus that are great. We took the cauliflower one time and the tahini on second time.
Loved my experience at this restaurant! It's a tiny little thing, but certainly not a hole in the wall - it's very well designed, and trendy, and the staff is super sweet. A great, healthy option for lunch at midday. I definitely recommend showing up outside of lunch hour, because the space is not very large and seating is limited. I was there at 1:00 p.m. and left shortly after 2:00. When I arrived things were packed, and there were only two seats available in store. By the time I left things had significantly emptied out in store, though there were still plenty of folks heading in to grab to-go items. Food was delicious. I especially liked the pickled beets that came with my hummus platter. I did the lentil platter, was full, and even took a bit home in one of their adorable Dizengof-branded to-go plastics.
We were a group of five. And we ordered the four main dishes from the menu, a few hummus dishes, and a salad, all to share for five people. Each dish was exquisite. The flavors, the preparation were all excellent! Most Mediterranean restaurants that I have eaten at are good, but this one stood out above all. Expect about $45 per person including tax, tip, drink.
I love the atmosphere. This place is very cute for a first date! It looks so colorful and memorable. I went there during lunchtime, and the food was surprisingly quick. I’m glad the host didn’t give me a seat next to the window, haha. I liked the comfy seats—thank you for swapping! I had to try the sandwiches because I saw how they were making fresh pita bread, and it smelled so nice! I also loved their Turkish coffee—it was the best one, haha! The service was great, and the waiter was attentive. Anyways, tips were already included.
I found my new favorite restaurant in the city! We came here for my birthday, and it was amazing. Service was some of the best we have experienced by far. Our server was friendly, attentive, and provided great recommendations. She went above and beyond, and was extremely hospitable. Food was incredible. We had the tasting menu, as you could not beat the value with each person getting a salad or mezze, an entree, and then the hummus trio to share. The menu is on the smaller side, so for you picky eaters, definitely check it out before you go. The hummus trio was the perfect appetizer, served with fluffy pita bread. We had the Boreeka and the heirloom tomatoes which were both so fresh. For entrees, we split the dorade and the lamb neck. I am not a “whole fish” person, but I loved the dorade. It had a great flavor. The lamb was tender, and did not taste too gamey. They brought out the “ice cream” sandwich for dessert to celebrate my birthday. It’s not really an ice cream, but rather tastes like a fluffy, non sweet frosting in between two cookies. Both my husband and I were shocked to discover this was vegan, as it was delicious! I highly recommend this spot for special occasions, or even just a nice dinner. I can’t wait to return!
Outstanding! In fairness, I hadn't had Israeli food before, other than grocery store hummus but theirs was so much better! Had two different hummus dishes for apps and had the Hangar steak for main course. Didn't get many pictures, we were too busy eating. Will most certainly be back.
The food at Dizengoff is so flavorful, we went there twice while visiting Philadelphia. We had the chicken schnitzel and lamb kofte sandwiches, and we shared the dorade fish platter. Everything was cooked to perfection, including the hummus, tahina sauce and chopped salad. Tasty healthy food, excellent servers, large portions, fun atmosphere, lively but quiet enough for conversation, and clean bathrooms — what more could you ask for?
Ate at Dizengoth in Philadelphia, PA. Modern Israeli fare. Lemonada, Tel Aviv Sunset, hummus with beef, pita, chicken schnitzel platter. Ambiance is very cool with great music. Israeli chic vibe. Excellent good and service. If you're looking for spicy sephardic cuisine, look elsewhere. Reservations recommended. We called in last minute. Scored bar seats and they upgraded us.
Had a fantastic time at the new fancier Dizengoff. Food was very tasty and the service was top tier. Everyone was very nice and attentive I got to sample the frozen beverages before i committed and got recommendations from the servers that did not disappoint. The whole fish dish was my favorite followed by the fattoush salad. Will be coming back and trying all the other offerings as soon as I can.
This place just re-opened! Very cool. Staff is wonderful. Cori is exceptional. Food is very unique. I came here simply because the word Israeli intrigued me. But it is more middle-eastern with a twist. Turkish and Moroccan influences abound. I wasn't disappointed. Desert ice cream cookie is awesome. Even the bathroom is cool.
Best hummus of my life specifically the brown butter hummus. Pita is made fresh daily and so fluffy. The Greek salad with chicken schnitzel was amazing, perfectly cooked. Also the cocktails were suprisingly creative and delicious, enjoyed especially the zaatar, olive and gin drink.
Stopped by for a light lunch while visiting Philadelphia. It wasn't crowded, so was able to walk right up and place my order. Ordered the Beef Pinenut Hummus platter with an egg, salad, and a Lemonana drink. It was a nice day, so sat at one of the outdoor tables outside. Order was ready within 5 minutes and delivered to my table. Hummus was very good with a nice creamy taste. Ingredients were very fresh and was plated nicely. Was sure to scoop a little bit of every ingredient on each bite as they all went well together. Both the salad and Lemonana were equally as good. All the ingredients in the salad were fresh and crispy. The Lemonana was very refreshing. Great place to come for some good, authentic Hummus.
Split the Turkish Hummus, Chicken Schnitzel, Caesar salad, and the fries between the two of us. Plenty of delicious food. Hummus with their pita is a standout. This became one of my go to places anytime somebody comes into town or asks me where to eat in Philly. Also, servers were delightful. So nice and have great recommendations. If you can’t decide what to get, just ask them (:
Just reopened and it’s great! Note - plan out all of your food and walk your server through it, to make sure it flows well. The flavors here are decadent and rich, so you want to make sure there’s a good balance. starters - get the classic hummus. We had the Turkish hummus (hot) and while it’s good, the brown butter is incredibly overwhelming and rich, so it’s better as a dish with your entree than app. You can’t go wrong with any of the hummus options tho! It comes with 2 pita breads that are HOT! -The Petrozilla is a good addition with the hummus - the labneh is crazy good. Warning its A LOT of parsley -The Moroccan cigars are the app standout. It’s savory, sweet, slightly spicy, and wrapped in a Philo dough pastry. A MUST! Entrees -the roast chicken was wild good! Moist and delicious seasoning. Comes with a biting side salad that works well. -lamb neck - it’s a “last supper” type dish. A bit fatty but decadent flavors and incredible. It’s heavy! Sides -none of the sides looked appealing or added much. Think they need to revamp this section or just nix it all together. Dessert -its a small vegan ice cream sandwich. It’s ok but you’re better off going to one of their sister restaurants for dessert, like a Goldie shake or a fab Kfar pastry. Skip it.
AN AMAZING MEMORABLE CULINARY EXPERIENCE! The place was full so we took seats at the bar. The bartenders, Chris and Jared were friendly and attendives to our service, without having any pompous attitude like we often see in upscale restaurants. Food was served fast. Hummus was silky with full of flavors. The schnitzel was large, crispy and juicy on the inside. The labaneh was creamy, tangy and delicious. The hand cut fries came with a succulent home made ketchup, mixed with tahini and Indian spices. The stuffed peppers with red sauce were fluffy and not too thick. The ice cream are made with dates syrup and tahini. It melt in the mouth! . The chef, Ramy came to check our satisfaction and sent plates for us to taste. Thank you! It was a perfect meal and we will be back.
Had dinner plans with a friend coming into the city on a Wednesday and Dizengoff was an excellent choice. Fun, casual atmosphere and the cocktails were on point. We both started with the gin cocktail which was delicious and unique then I switched to the Turkish coffee and grapefruit juice mocktail, yes you read that right, since I was driving. It was unique and well balanced. We got the Turkish hummus which I thought was good but not great and the labneh— the apps are fine at the happy hour price but otherwise I’d probably skip everything except the Haminado Egg which was unbelievable— it’s a braised hard boiled egg and I’ve never had anything like it. I got the steak and my friend got the roasted chicken. It’s rare that I’d say this but she ordered better than I did— the chicken was so unbelievably tender and perfectly spiced. If I make it back, I would totally order the chicken. The steak was good if a little chewy, but it suffered in the comparison. Overall would recommend and suggest going heavy on the cocktails and skipping the appetizers in favor of the mains purely in terms of value.
02042026 I am a member of the GOY section. Maybe I don't know enough to know any better.😂 I thought it was great! I just got the chicken schnitzel. The rice pilaf was good. The veggies were good. The young lady was nice and helpful. What could you ask for? Well, I did, and I saw that in the comments below. It's 25° outside and they didn't have any matzoh ball soup. I think it would be a good source of revenue. Not so much in the summer but when you're dealing with over a week of weather in the 20s, you might want to try it
Absolutely delicious food, friendly, kind and quick service, and a bright and cheerful atmosphere. We had a hummus sampler of fresh pitas with the tahini, yerushalmi, and garlic hummus (all three were amazing, but the garlic was special), French fries, Moroccan cigars (highly recommend!!), a side of pickles, pickled eggplant and olives, chraime fish with roasted pepper (didn't exactly taste like chraime but liked it anyway), roasted cauliflower with sunflower seeds (good, delicate flavors), and tahini ice cream sandwiches, which were light and creamy and flavored with cardommon. The Five Flavors cocktail was good too and special. The portions were not large, and were maybe surprisingly small for the hummus and fish, but not bad all the same and the presentation was lovely. Overall a really wonderful dinner.
Dizengoff in Philadelphia nails authentic Israeli flavors in a casual, lively spot. The hummus is standout—ultra-creamy and served warm with fresh-baked pita (try classics like Tehina or loaded Yerushalmi with beef, baharat, and pine nuts). Meat plates add savory depth, like beef or lamb integrations that pair perfectly. Wash it down with a crisp Israeli beer or lager for that true Tel Aviv vibe. Fresh, flavorful, and highly recommended!
Our brunch was on March 8, 2025 Our party of 5 had a reservation and we were seated quickly. The food was served hit and quickly. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. There ar gluten free options available. It was an enjoyable experience and I would recommend this dining experience.
Very good food and service. The staff was so welcoming, warm, and patient with our almost two year old, even when she decided to run around the restaurant chasing another baby. They had a high chair at the ready as well. They don't have a changing table, but the first bathroom has a cabinet if sorts that works well if you have a changing pad. Food was yum. The warm Turkish hummus and labneh were delicious, as was the lamb kofte. The pita are warm and fluffy. Definitely recommend.
Had dinner here tonight with my brother and sister-in-law to celebrate 🎉 my birthday! There was a Happy Birthday note on my menu! So special! The hummus sampler was delicious, so were the salads and entrees! I had the Baby Gem salad, they had the beet. I had the chicken schnitzel and my brother had the beef! Absolutely amazing 😻
**Fantastic Experience at the Israeli Restaurant** We had a wonderful experience at an Israeli restaurant today. We tried various dishes with hummus, and everything was truly fresh and juicy. The flavors were excellent, and all four of us were very satisfied. This restaurant comes highly recommended. It offers a great dining experience, and we would happily recommend it to anyone. Really, really good!
We shared Hummus Pilpel and Baba Ganoush for the table, and I ordered the Sabich sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend and will be going back.
A must stop on any Philly food list and for good reason. Not a huge menu, but you don’t need one when you make hummus that good. Tried a few options with friends; it was smooth, creamy, and packed with a variety of flavors and spices. It went well with the super soft hummus to dip and vinegar in the fresh salad. I’m glad they’re expanding because they definitely need more room in there. Can’t wait to try it again.
Stopped here for dinner. Had the hummus sampler and the stuffed pepper. All *outstanding*. Excellent flavors and textures, not overly salted or greasy. I will say the Turkish hummus was pretty unique and very rich. It was wonderful but I felt like I wanted to eat less of it than the others, so the sampler size was perfect. Absolutely would return!
Sat at the bar and got the prix fixe menu for dinner. Every single thing was delicious. Favorite was the Turkish hummus that was so buttery. More than anything the lady at the bar who helped with my food/drinks was so kind, friendly, and helpful with my menu decisions. Got the lamb as main and it was beautifully cooked. Didn’t have room for dessert. House red went well with the meal.
Had a WONDERFUL experience here!!! In town for the weekend and came here off a recommendation. Such a nice atmosphere, and the service was impeccable. Big shoutout to our server Amare, he really made the experience so much more enjoyable. The Turkish hummus is outrageously good. The steak and the schnitzel was also fantabulous. Also omfg cannot forget the Caesar salad—unconventional but delicious. NO NOTES!!
was craving pita and hummus and this place just hits the spot. I was a bit disappointed that they don't have a hummus platter for me to try out different flavors. The two that I ordered are really good. They are both very smooth and creamy. One has beef and pine nuts that add more flavors. The other one is served hot and it has a really unique taste that I like. Though it can feel a bit too much if you eat a lot. I wish the garlic flavor is spread across more evenly. I'm not a big fan of the shakshuka since I don't like the pepper taste. The place xan get pretty crowded during peak hours so reserve if you can.
The food here is amazing and service from Valentina was stellar! She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes and I didnt even have to think about the menu because everything she brought and recommended was exactly what I wanted! The dorado with labneh and tomato was phenomenal, their chicken schnitzel is delicious as always and their Turkish hummus was something I’ll dream about! Super garlicky with brown butter, what more can you ask for!! The cocktails are delish too and rather strong over too sweet which I prefer!
Amazing food! Everything we tried was full of flavor and really authentic. The staff was friendly, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely coming back.
Dizengoff was my restaurant choice to celebrate an anniversary and I could not have been happier with that decision. The atmosphere was fun, they had a great music playlist, the staff treated us so well, and the food was some of the best we have had. The Turkish hummus, Caesar salad with added chicken schnitzel, lamb kofte, and strip steak were all phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back!
Our server Elle was amazing! She recommended Turkish coffee grapefruit cocktail and you'd be surprised how well those flavors work! We got the apple and radicchio salad and it's pretty tart with a sweet dressing, highly recommend. The vibes are super cozy and music is 10/10, had a great time:) thanks Elle❤️
Amazing!!! Went in for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised!! The Turkish hummus!! OMG who knew!! It's served hot and mixed with brown butter, it's fluffy and delicious!! Also, the best schnitzel I have had in years!! Definitely worth a visit.
Came here for a birthday lunch - food was delicious - had the chicken schnitzel which I highly recommend and the hummus and pita and pickles. Only downsides: the pita was not warm at all which I found odd, but everything was delicious regardless of this one minor thing. Super high quality of ingredients and extremely memorable experience. Service was great and attentive but be warned, GET RESERVATIONS! Super popular, this is not a pop in and hope for the best kind of place.
i have been to laserwolf in bk and had an amazing meal so was so excited when i found this was also from the same chef. the food was delicious and comforting. if we had an endless stomach, we would have ordered the whole menu. menu highlights: hummus tehina (try it with the fries and its the perfect bite), fries (obvi), lamb kofte (cooked perfectly and juicy), and coconut malabi (loved it).
We were visiting from out of town and made a reservation at Dizengoff to celebrate a special day together. From the moment we walked in we felt taken care of. David made sure we had a great table, and Valentina was wonderful. This was the best hummus we’ve ever had. French fries had the perfect crunchiness. Entrees were very plentiful. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Highly recommend Dizengoff if you’re in Philly and craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors. This cozy spot, from chef Michael Solomonov delivers Israeli street food vibes with serious flavor. The Lamb Köfte wrap was amazing! 🌯 Fresh lamb meatballs, chopped Salad, Sumac Onions, Tehina, Israeli pickel, hot pepper, wrapped in pita Isralie Breakfast also a MUST try! Za’atar Omelette, Labneh, Schug, Olives, Chopped Salad, Pita Our table shared an unbelievably smooth and rich plate of Hummus Yerushalmi 🥙 Beef, Baharat, Pine Nuts, Parsley, served warm with pillowy, freshly baked pita that’s worth the trip alone. The atmosphere is casual and energetic, with friendly staff who are happy to explain the menu. WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS CONCEPT IN BALTIMORE! 🇮🇱 ממש טעים
Lovely food. Hummus spread variety was pretty unique with some really bold flavors. Pita of course was the soft, warm, and chewy. For mains, the chicken thighs was garlicky, juicy, bright, and flavorful. Chicken a chnitzel was crispy and moist. Everything was fairly basic but didn’t try to be anything over the top. A bit pricey but a porthole experience to come back for.
Had an incredible meal at Dizengoff in Rittenhouse Square—everything we ordered was spot on. The shakshouka was perfect: rich, flavorful, and honestly addictive. The hummus was creamy, packed with flavor, and we ended up ordering extra pita just to soak up every bit. The chicken schnitzel was insane—in the best way—with a generous portion of rice, salad, and tahini on the side. And the tahini ice cream sandwich? In a class of its own. We ordered a lot, and every single dish delivered. The pricing is fair for the quality, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
This place has the best hummus I have had outside of the Middle East—the Turkish hummus was by far and away the standout among the ones we tried. The chicken schnitzel was delicious and very light. The Moroccan cigars were so crispy and flavorful and I could’ve eaten an entire plate by my self. The staff was super friendly and efficient.
Amazing place with absolutely delicious food! The best hummus we've ever had 😋🙌. We ordered the full dinner for $48 per person, which included three types of hummus, tuna and Moroccan cigars, garlic chicken, and lamb—pure perfection. I have to highlight the hummus again! We tried the Turkish hummus (with brown butter, crispy garlic, and urfa pepper, served in a small hot iron skillet—unique and absolutely delicious), the original, and the pitryot (a must-try for mushroom lovers like us!). The hummus and pita were honestly the best we've ever had. A few words about the Moroccan cigars—I’m usually not a fan, but at Dizengoff, they were so good that even I loved them! To top it all off, we were treated to a tahini ice cream sandwich for our birthdays—such a thoughtful touch. Huge thanks to everyone who made our experience so amazing. We can't wait to go back! Wish we still had Dizengoff in NYC.
Such a shame about the new (pared down) menu! I considered this a full 5 stars before the revamp, but now there’s far fewer options. It was all still tasty, but it wasn’t quite as good as before (pita was a bit cold too). Pitryot hummus is a standout as usual. The chicken schnitzel was still very good, but not to the level it was the last couple times. Overall, if I had to sum it up - it’s a nice place to stop in and grab some quick food and drinks, but I don’t know if I’d say it’s a must-go like it was before for me.
The food was great! Small menu and everything on it was put together thoughtfully. The fish was the best dish we had. The service was a little rushed bringing the mains before our salads were done. I’d go back for the food
Definitely a great little spot for a quick lunch, wasn't crazy about the bench seating, but the beet salad that came with the hummus bowl was amazing! The pita bread was super soft and tasty, I got the meatball hummus bowl, the meatballs were pretty tasty, but it was a LOT of hummus in there. If you're hungry enough ordering an extra pita would finish it off otherwise I ended up throwing a decent amount out in the trash. Overall definitely a spot worth trying, and perhaps a spot I'd come back to if I'm in the area!
i’ve only tried the hummus yerushalmi thus far cause we only needed a snack at the time, but this was already flavorful as it is and very filling even as an appetizer but would definitely love to come back to try even more. seats were full inside, so we opted al fresco. it’s a bit more challenging with service though as we were outside, but overall okay experience.
I arrived at dizengoff just before closing on a Sunday night. The hostess was a little rude and I could have done without her lack of customer service, but this review is not about her. The last time I visited disegoff, it was more of a fast casual restaurant, so I was a bit thrown off when I walked into a full service dining room. Thankfully, Becca, a very kind and hospitable FOH staff member, saw the confused look on my face and approached me with a smile. She took the time to answer all of my questions and showed me how to order hummus using the takeout menu. She made sure that all of my needs were met and did so with a kindness and care. Thank you, Becca! You made me evening!!
Food is 5/5. The seating layout is not great and if you are seated anywhere near the door during winter you will freeze. This place is not cheap but they more than make up for it if you are looking for a gastro experience. Highly recommend
It was ok, felt generally like a more affordable Laser Wolf option. Got the duck salad and the lamb neck. The duck and the dressing were good, but the greens were a bit too bitter and overpowering, and the stems made it a little awkward and difficult to eat. The lamb neck was very tender and I liked the seeds and stuff on the endives, although with the sauce and everything the lamb made for a very heavy dish. There was also a piece of tendon in there that I had to spit out because it was too chewy. I think the best part was the hummus platter we got. I was a big fan of the garlic hummus which almost reminded me of garlic mashed potatoes and all of the hummuses(?) had a really smooth consistency to them that made them very good with the pita.
Really love the hummus at Dizengoff and the topping choices. Usually most of us Americans don't think about adding toppings to our hummus, but this restaurant makes you think that all of us should beer doing this. I've had many different toppings but today's eggplant and pine nuts was absolutely delicious. The hot and fresh pita beads are amazing and complement the hummus well. The salad they usually serve with the hummus is also terrific and varies depending on the season. Right now it's a red beet salad with Israeli pickle. Very small seating areas which would be nicer if they could expand it, but the footprint is very small. Outdoor seating for good weather. No parking lot.
I will recommend this place to others. The hummus was amazing! The marinated egg was bonus flavor. The place is small but allows for eating in. They even have some outdoor seating. If nothing else order a lemonana. So different in flavor and refreshing. Lots of them were ordered while we ate in. UPDATE: This is now a full service restaurant with bar. Friday night reservations recommended. The hummus remains infamous. The baba ghanoush was "lick the bowl clean" delicious.
*good lamb, chicken, wine Cute, chill, and vibrant interior. Went for restaurant week lunch for 2. The lamb and chicken platters were good. Beef hummus was flavorful and unique. The chicken was crispy and good with a side of harissa. The lamb was flavorful. Love the zahav wine. Friendly bartenders. I would come back.
Classic staple dishes from one of your favorite Philly chefs. More casual and economic then his other offerings. Vibe is also younger, more livley and brighter. The dishes match that.
Let me start by saying the service was impeccable. The staff was very knowledgeable about Israeli cuisine and extremely attentive. The hummus was good and the pita was tasty. I wasn’t crazy about the dishes I ordered, though. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and the lamb dishes. That said, we may have just chosen the wrong items. Overall, it’s a good restaurant to try in Philly.
We started with the hummus sampler, served with warm pita — flavorful and delicious. I had the lamb neck for my entrée; it was tender and tasty. The fennel side had a unique, slightly acquired flavor — not my favorite but not bad either. My friend’s za’atar chicken looked and tasted great. Service was friendly and attentive, and overall it was a very good dining experience.
Incredible restaurant! The server was very passionate about the food and made great recommendations. All of the hummus’ were fantastic but special shout out to the cooked Turkish hummus with garlic oil! The chicken was cooked to perfection with a perfect crunchy schnitzel crust! The date cookie was good but was a bit drier than I was expecting. Will definitely be returning
Not bad. Not great. I would say overall it was an average experience. The gin cocktail was great. The whiskey was just a Manhattan. The Turkish coffee with grapefruit juice was unexpectedly delicious. Sandwiches and hummus were good. The coconut dessert was a definite no. Service and atmosphere was ok.
I miss the old Dizengoff. The daily menu changes made lunch more interesting. While the food quality is still high, the menu has become stale. Also, it's disappointing to receive just one pita with takeout orders. I just paid $25 for chickpeas, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cucumbers. At the very least, I should get enough pita to enjoy with it.
Before we went to Dizengoff, a family member told us not to go because the food isn’t good. We thought she was exaggerating, but now I understand what she meant. We ordered the hummus and the pita was not fresh. I asked for a new one, but they just gave me the same pita warmed up. Pita is everything, and if it’s not fresh, it should not be served. We also ordered the hanger steak. The flavor was good, but it was undercooked. We asked for medium to medium well, and it came rare. The small side salad was dull and lacked seasoning. From a restaurant based on Middle Eastern flavors, I expected bolder taste. On the positive side, the staff was kind and attentive. Still, the food quality and execution were disappointing overall
November 2024: Had to revise the rating from 5 to 3 because service was very poor. This was my first visit since the restaurant remodeled from a casual takeout-style spot into more of a sit-down format. The restaurant was quieter, with many empty tables (including multiple two-tops), yet the hostess seated me at the bar. That decision is telling: there were open tables available, but as a solo diner I was placed at the very spot where staff stand only a few feet away — and still I couldn’t get my water glass refilled. If anything, being at the bar should have made attentive service easier, not harder. I’ve attached a photo that shows the room was not full. I was overlooked almost entirely while staff were busy fangirling over Kevin Castro, a guest bartender who was being given complimentary food. It was striking — staff seemed focused on entertaining him. At one point, it was just me and Kevin Castro sitting at the bar as customers — yet all of the attention went to him, while I sat with an empty glass. It’s possible management isn’t even aware this happens — that staff prioritize fawning over industry celebrities with complimentary food and drinks while paying guests are overlooked. At a restaurant that automatically adds 20% gratuity, guests shouldn’t have to flag anyone down just to get water. As a diner, the impact is real, and it’s hard not to notice where the priorities are. When I raised this with the hostess at the end, her apology felt rushed — she practically jumped out of the host stand like she was running a race to the bar. Once she got there, it was clear they were talking about me, because the hostess and all the bartenders turned to look in my direction. I was still sitting by the front door waiting for my rideshare, so I couldn’t exactly leave — it was freezing outside — and it felt like I was being gossiped about in front of the entire staff. The food is excellent, but the mandatory 20% gratuity stings when basic service is missing. In practice, it seems to remove the incentive for staff to be attentive — they know the tip is guaranteed, whether or not they take care of the guest. Hospitality matters, and on this visit, I felt unwelcome — enough that I don’t plan to return. I noticed the restaurant’s generic reply asking guests to email, but I want to share my details here, publicly, since future guests deserve to know. I live out of state, so it’s not like Dizengoff can make it up to me with another visit. The reality is I’m now a lost guest. I’ve visited much of the restaurant group: Abe Fisher once, Zahav twice, K’Far once, Goldie three times, Federal Donuts once, and Dizengoff four times. Perhaps parties of two or more have a different experience, but for me as a solo diner, it felt like I was treated as less important. Unless you’re a recognizable guest, the bar seems to be where you’ll end up — and my experience shows that service can slip there. I can’t change the gratuity that was automatically added, but I can share my experience so others know what to expect. That, to me, feels like the best contribution I can make. Edit – Reflection (2025): If I could do this visit over again, I’d simply pay for the food portion in cash and politely decline the automatic gratuity. At the time, I didn’t realize that was even an option, but it’s completely fair when there’s no real service — no water refills, no check-ins, nothing beyond dropping off the food. I’m not saying this out of anger; I just think diners should know they have the right to speak up respectfully when service is missing. Next time, I’d quietly explain that and pay for the meal itself. November 2022: Still the best hummus. Now, if Dizengoff can come to Boston. November 2021: The best hummus I have ever eaten in my life — comparable to what I ate at Zahav. Smooth, creamy, and flavorful. The beet salad and a pita bread comes with the dish. There weren’t any utensils packed in the bag, so make a note to ask the employees for those items.
The food is great. Came promptly considering how busy they were. Food and cooks and servers were awesome, we had a vad experience for another reason. The shift manager (middle aged bald guy with glasses) just approached our table and caused some grief. It was freezing out, nobody checked our coats...we had to put them on our bench seats. I have a heart issue despite looking normal. I needed to stretch my leg a little and it stuck out from the table. My legs swell and retains fluid from.prolonged sitting. I didnt think this was a felony. He claimed he almost tripped over my foot sticking out about 12" despite a 10 foot wide aisle to the next seating section. The part that really got me was he spoke down to me in a condescending manner asking me if he needed to bring me a chair or something as if I was a child that was not listening. Everyone at the table was appalled. It just ruined what was an otherwise delicious lunch. Our server was great, 5 stars. Not that we should be judged, but we were just 2 well dressed couples. We ordered apps, drinks, entrees, just no room for desert..otherwise a perfect ticket. Just think everyone has things we are dealing with. Maybe address people with a little more respect next time. The lamb, chicken, and apps were delicious guys.
Hummus: 5/5 A+. BEST humus I EVER HAD. I normally don’t like humus. This was AMAZING. Lamb Kofte: 2/5. The other stuff on the plate was good. The lamb was…not good. Felt like my entire insides smelt like lamb for the next few hours. Still makes me sick thinking about it. Chicken schnitzel: 4/5. Pretty good. Specially if you put some of the humus on it. Could use a little more…seasoning or salt but it was my first time with Israeli food. It could be a cultural thing. Frozen pink lemonade: 4/5. Thank god I ordered this. Was a really good pallet cleanse after that lamb dish. Wish they made the drink minty by actually crushing the mint into the drink and not just throwing it on top, but solid drink overall. Chocolate pita French toast: 3.5/5. A little too sweet. Felt like I was eating a cake but I took the leftovers home and have been enjoying taking bits of it here and there since yesterday. Service: the server came by ONCE like 5 minutes after we got our food and never again. I had to wave her down a few times to order additional things (I ordered the French toast and wanted something savory after a few bites). I mean I was sitting there the entire time that my gf was eating just waiting for the server to come by our area. Overall, In the future, I’ll def order the hummus to go, but won’t be eating the other things
Came for dinner on a weekday. They don’t do take out for dinner so I opted to dine in. The decor was cute. I was seated quickly and the servers were friendly. I ordered the hummus pitryot, Moroccan cigars, and za’atar roast chicken. Unfortunately, all the food was way too salty. I found myself having to drink water throughout the meal and I’m still drinking water now at home. I think the hummus was the least salty of the three items I got; and was decent if spread on the pita bread. Additionally, there is a 20% service fee automatically added to the receipt, which isn’t tip. So I tipped on top of that service fee. That said, I won’t be returning. I think you’re paying for the atmosphere more than the food. If someone took me here for a date, I’d be disappointed. There are better places in Philly to eat.
Went to Dizengoff for CC Restaurant Week 2026. The first thing the waitress tells us is that they are out of 2 of the 4 main plates and wouldn’t substitute. Only choices were the chicken or eggplant. We tried several of their specialty drinks and none were particularly good. The food and service was disappointing. There is other better options in the city.
Wish I could tell you how the food really was, but unfortunately we did not get to try it as we were turned away by the hostess. It was 3 in the afternoon, they were open, and had a few patrons dining but the place was pretty empty, and the hostess told us that they had a busy lunch and were not seating people at this time. No other explanation. We really wanted to try this place and made a point of going of going on a trip to Philadelphia. Will never go again.
