Nice spot! Good empanadas, coffee, and seating. 🫶
Empanada’s are to die for, Chilaquiles as well, great cappuccino’s - no attitude - great place
Always great coffee, food, and service!
Excellent service by Ivan and his coworkers, very good food, and most importantly, great coffee. Cozy atmosphere.
This place does great food if you’re in the area it’s a must for breakfast what are you waiting for?
I love this place. The atmosphere is perfect and every song on the playlist hits!
I love Cafe Calaca, especially the food. It’s sooooo delicious.
I love the baristas here! Super friendly. It’s got a great ambiance where I feel loved and accepted.
Great coffee. Cute shop. And they have vegan empanadas and other vegan options!
Great coffee, yummy breakfast sandwich and really great service.
Some of the best coffee I’ve had in a long time - such a treat :)
Cute location convenient allocated in the heart of Brooklyn! Nice backyard area too. :)
Love it here! They’re so friendly, and will definitely be frequenting their outdoor space once it opens!!
In some cases beans on toast can be amazing this is one of them! The coffee is amazing ❤️
Chicken tortilla soup is hearty and a flavor party. Get it and temporarily forget about winter 🍲😋
Breakfast burrito was fire
They're filing for liquor & wine license! Soon-to-be a coffee shop & wine bar. Amazing.
Good coffee, great shortbread, smiling service. Recommend.
Great little cafe! Beautiful inside & outside space. The staff is friendly, and the food is really really delicious & well priced.
Great coffee shop - foods and drinks are very good. Staff is very kind and efficient.
Good quality coffee with a really friendly staff. But their food menu is what sets them apart! The frijol toast is my favorite! Highly recommend.
I happened to be walking past the Cafe, I had no idea that Calaca Cafe was open. So excited to see Ivan. I got empanadas today and they were super yummy. So glad to see that you are open. Beautiful people and yummy food.
Excellent coffee and cookies. Our over easy eggs came out overcooked, but the staff fixed them and the dish turned out delicious.
I had a cold brew that was really tasty, lovely coffee. Indoor music not too loud thankfully. No mug though, coffee served in takeaway cup.
Great vibe all around. My cortado was tasty. Go Amaal!
Staff is consistently friendly and the food is delightful. My go to spot for a morning coffee and a bite to eat in the neighborhood. Charming little backyard as well!
The egg breakfast sandwich literally made me a better person. I’ve been thinking about it all day!
Great new coffee spot from the folks who run the Calaca restaurant/bar on Putnam. Coffee is excellent, friendly service, cute tables indoors as well a backyard with additional seating!
Delicious food! And the BlackBerry mint coffee was to die for! Very cute and comfy outdoor patio! Thanks to my friend Ayca for tagging me!!
Worth the trip from Manhattan. Every time I order something different to eat and drink, and every time I am completely satisfied. Highly recommend making a trip to eat here.
Best coffee in the neighborhood and with the friendliest staff to match! This is hands down one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn, get the frijol toast or chilaquiles for food!
Food is mouthwatering. Hidden gem that provides you with coffee far better than Starbucks and food that will make you glad you rolled out of bed and dragged yourself here.
Awesome staff, really nice atmosphere (especially the backyard), and great food with lots of vegan and vegetarian options! Highly recommend!
great coffee, yummy food, indoor and outdoor seating, wifi, lovely staff what else could u rly ask for!
BEST cafe in Brooklyn. It always amazes me how hard it is to find the ideal cafe. Not too many people, good coffee and food, good wifi, outdoor seating, pleasant employees...Cafe calaca has it all!!!!!
A little cute spot for coffee and a bite to eat. We had staff plate and it was fresh and light to start off the morning, the coffee is great, staffs are very friendly and the atmosphere is sweet they have a little garden in the back with sun ray perfect for some kind of autumn morning😌🌞🌈🍳☕️
Love it here their coffees never miss. I think my fave is their rose iced latte. Food wise also super good I’ve only tried the empanadas and burrito and no complaints from me :)
Favorite spot in the neighborhood. They really do a great job of making customers feel like part of a community. I normally grab a quick drip on my way to the train - definitely the best cup of coffee around. Haven’t tried the food yet but my roommate tells me it’s amazing! Can’t wait to try for myself.
This place is owned and operated by staff that had worked for the previous owners that were part of coffee shops. They upgraded the food. They have excellent Mexican style food, including chilaquiles and empandas. Great choices for vegans and excellent coffee, natch.
Great simple espresso in a world of cafes that mostly make terrible espresso because you can’t tell when it’s drowned in milk. Good job; I’ll come back for that.
Best Coffee in the area, in my opinion. Incredibly nice people. I've tried their Avocado Toast and the Chickpea Salad Toast. Both tasted very fresh, light yet filling, and for a good price. Their salad dressings are amazing. Today, I had their Cochinita Empanada. It's homemade, and probably my newest favorite snack. Can't wait to go back!
Beyond favorable! Absolutely delicious Empandas & the Tortilla Soup incredible! Great cup of coffee amazing atmosphere & friendly service! I will be coming back to visit soon. Thank you! Also let's support Latinos ❤
I lived by this cafe for almost a year before I came in for the first time and I don't know why I didn't sooner. I got a mocha and avo toast. The spice blend on the toast was the perfect blend of spice and umami. There was a wonderful 6 minute egg on there too. Those that worked there were kind and welcoming and a super cute little garden in the back.
Bruhhhh their lattes were on another level. My fave coffee place I've been to. I don't get much coffee so maybe my opinion isn't as valid, however. My gf and I loved their coffees so much that we grabbed another on our way out. The food here was also so good. It beats out our local cafes at home.
Such a cute place! I walk by here all the time, but never stopped in until my friend recommended we get coffee here. The coffee was great, the staff was super friendly, and the food looked amazing. I'll be back for sure!
Interior is beautiful, staff is lovely and friendly, coffee is delicious, and food is amazing. At most coffee shops the food is an afterthought. At Café Calaca it's part of a wholistic experience. Everything is good. This place is exactly what a neighborhood café should be like.
Great neighborhood coffee place - owned by the people who run Calaca, our favorite ceviche around. Coffee is awesome, tastes floral and delicious, compared to lots of others. The baked treats are great too: get an empanada!
Easily my favorite place for drip coffee in the neighborhood. It's just a bit stronger than most places make it without tasting burnt or bitter. I drink my drip coffee black, so there's nothing to hide the taste.
Excellent coffee. Really amazing staff. Neighborhood favorite
This is my SPOT. Nicest staff and coffee in the area. I've been trying and failing to replicate their cold brew at home. I will always give this place my business.
This is my favorite cafe. Really good food - actual cooked meals as opposed to just pastries (the staff plate is my favorite), ample seating, big backyard seating for when the weather is good. Great for working and/or having lunch.
Best empanadas I’ve ever had!! You can tell they were never frozen and made fresh to order. Nice coffee selection, friendly service, and great music in the background. Came here to get work done. The feeling is cozy. Not tons of space but was able to get a table. Perfect neighborhood cafe ✨
My favorite coffee shop! It has a casual upbeat neighborhood vibe with solid music playlists, addictive food, quality coffee, fast service, and most importantly, good people. Everyone that works there is super sweet, interesting, cool, and always seem to know everyone’s name. They have a back patio where lots of people bring their dogs and host fun neighborhood comedy shows once a month. I highly recommend the chorizo burrito with guac and their vanilla oat matcha, but it’s all great!
Excellent coffee and pastries and super nice people. The berry pistachio toast was so good that I instantly regretted sharing it and not getting a whole one for myself. Thankfully I have their chocolate olive oil cake saved for later 😋. Can’t wait to try their empanadas next!
Best empanadas and breakfast burrito I've had in recent memory. Amazing matcha and coffee drinks too
Incredible first experience here. Delicious food and the Strawberry Matcha was so refreshing. I will absolutely be back for more
This spot is honestly perfect- chill vibes amazing food. Super friendly staff. Definitely coming back.
I should have taken a picture but I was famished. I had the chorizo burrito. It was so delicious. The chorizo is super fresh and tasty. It is a very satisfying portion. The cold brew is super good too. Don’t pass this place by. Ivan and the staff are super friendly. Today I had the avocado toast with salad. So tasty. I don’t usually eat bread but it was so flavorful. The avaocado nice with a little spice. The salad and dressing so tasty and fresh. The coffee was great too. I had the Rosewater Iced Latte. (Took a pic this time). Super good 😋
I choose this place for a date and at least the place was more comfortable then my date 🤣🤣🤣 I really enjoy the croissant with chocolate and the oat milk with coffee
Very attentive.. The coffee is great, the food options are accommodating and delicious.. Its a great location to work or enjoy time.
A pilar of the community, Cafe Calaca offers not only impeccable vibes, but freaking top tier food (not to mention their iced mocha is the best one I’ve had; quite literally ever). There’s a rotating artist every month or so featured on the entrance wall, with purchase-able work. At night, Cafe Calaca hosts a wide variety of events—comedy shows, spoken word slams, latinx/spanish rap/hip hop performances, book releases—you name it. Cafe Calaca is peak for a reason!! This is a MUST 👏🏻 GO👏🏻 if you are ever in the neighborhood ♥️
Cafe Calaca is awesome. This location was formerly a coffee shop that closed and the former baristas decided to open their own business, welcome to Cafe Calaca. Cafe Calaca is a cool, Latin-inspired business. They have been in business for one year serving their community. Everything smells fabulous. They are open for business every day, from 7:00 am -5:00 pm. However, the kitchen is only open from 8am-3pm. It seems as if they are popular because it was crowded indoors but thankfully they have additional seating in the back of the business. I chose to try the butterscotch latte and the pork empanada. I love this business.
THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN NYC! I truly never review, and have such a high standard for what is considered good food. The food here is unbelievably good, SO vegetarian friendly and the meat is incredible. The owner/chef takes such care and time to only cook fresh, tasty, home-cooked styled meals. The beans are slow roasted, as well as the fresh corn tortillas in yummy salsa verde sauce. The coffee and lattes are inventive and fresh. Of course, the staff is so incredibly friendly and able to accommodate anyone, even the pickiest eater. The staff is diverse and respectful. The vibe is great, and they have an outdoor space. Make the commute, come check this place out, you truly won’t regret it.
Great coffee. The best in the neighborhood in my opinion. Very friendly and welcoming. The cafe just opened up and the owners are awesome so stop by to say hello. They also have empanadas and other great goodies to eat. Also, they have a great backyard which is awesome and lovely to sit especially on a nice day. Definitely check it out!

i think this might have been the best empanada (beef) i’ve had in my life. service was amazing too
They make excellent coffee. I have been here a number of times and the coffee is consistently good. Their breakfast is very good too. Do try the beef empanadas, so good!!!
This place is a hidden gem! From the outside, it might not stand out, but once you step in, you're welcomed by a cozy atmosphere and a spotless, inviting space. The people here are wonderful, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. If you live in the neighborhood, this is definitely a spot worth visiting at least once. I had an amazing egg sandwich after a long time, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended!
Most delicious food and beverages, always served with a smile no matter how busy it is!

food and drinks were fine. service and atmosphere were great. :)
Love this place and weekend brunch is wonderful. The empanadas are great (but small). Hopefully they will get another grinder at some point for decaf. Great startup collaboration. Nice people.
Went for brunch. Great experience but the food and Chai Latte are not amazing.
Great food and coffee with a nice atmosphere and lovely porch! Some of the prices for food seem a little steep given the offerings- that being said however the chilaquiles were delicious.
Friendly service, breakfast sandwich was good though the lattes lacked coffee (padded with too much cream and auger if you ask for it made as it comes)
I got there on Saturday morning and ordered a burrito and coffee. The burrito was reasonably priced but the quality was good. The coffee was a great surprise, it was amazing. It's a cute little hipster place with an interesting design. Overall, it's a nice place, like a neighborhood coffee shop.
Vibes are good, but difficult to work bc music is pretty loud. Coffee was great and WiFi works. Patio is the place to be. I think I ordered wrong but the migas were fine. Get the salsa macha !
Great place with great sitting and lovely staff, coffee and pastries are good. But you're coming to work there, though, bring headphones, as the music gets too loud and not suitable for work. Other than that, very recommended! My new favorite spot
This restaurant had amazing food (I got the chilaquilas and the spicy mocha), great ambience and they allowed me to bring my dog into their spacious and adorable backyard space which is what I was looking for since we all needed to get out of the house. However I'm giving them four stars because I was juggling a new born and a dog in a tiny space and no one in their staff offered to help me at all...no one opened doors, offered to bring me my food to my table so I wouldn't have to bring my whole crew back into their tiny space from the backyard and they not only watched me bring my food and hot coffee out while also carrying my newborn but one of the baristas carried food out to a different customer while I was doing it. If it wasn't from the help of their friendly customers (there were many — one even offered to watch my dog and gave him a treat while I went to check on my order...I love NYers) I would have never gotten my food or been able to get in or out of their restaurant. I would have understood if the staff was in a rush (especially given the worker shortage these days) but it was slow when I was waiting on my food and there were three people behind the counter, two of which were waiting for more orders to come in. I loved the cafe but little acts of services go a long way and not offering them when someone is clearly struggling is not easily forgotten.

The food & price were modest, the art is lovely and Olivia is a wonderful barista!
I hate to leave a bad review but the burritos are *unbelievably* small. You're paying full-burrito prices for something that's a fraction of the size of a typical burrito. The vibe of the place is great, but food should be more important than vibes.
Wasn’t able to try this place because it’s only people in here on there laptops taking every single table with there coats purses and laptops very inconsiderate of the customers
Stood there while all the workers looked at me for a few minutes until someone finally decided to take my order. Never going back and the coffee was mid.
Felt played by the raving reviews here. This place was mid at best. Their menu options were very limited when I visited. They did not have any vegan options so I asked to have the chorizo taken out of my breakfast wrap. What I got was a disgrace of a wrap. Seemed like they didn’t use any salt or seasonings at all…I was surprised there were no potatoes and was told the chorizo and potatoes are pre mixed (not told prior). Left feeling like I grossly overpaid - $36 for two wraps and a coffee. Nuts! The location is also in a weird, loud junction and definitely does not show “calm and cute” as the pictures portray. People were posted up in there having full work meetings (mind you- it’s a small tight space). Overall, just vastly disappointed all around. Would not return.
Delivery is inconsistent and items have been missing even after requesting redelivery. I recommend pickup or dining in, has a good outdoor space and the drinks and food are well made.
The empanadas are incredibly small and the photos on here are deceptive. Literally the size of my MetroCard. They were fresh and tasty but they werent good enough to justify the price and size. At $5 an empanada I should not have left hungry. How is the sauce cup half the size of my empanada man. That's crazy. Staff was amazing and very kind. The atmosphere is very cool and I love the art on the walls. The backyard is nice. The food is a rip off.

The staff are straight up rude - you can be standing waiting for a table and then they’ll block you and give it to their friend who came in after. The chorizo burrito was mediocre, better off walking a couple of blocks east to Ursula.
So me and my friend go there a lot. The staff is friendly and sometimes speaks to us but it’s strange. One day we came in to eat and I noticed that everyone that ordered food was served, including me. My friend (who is black) was not…they made her go get her food from the counter. I remember there was a girl with turquoise hair and she didn’t seem to be the friendliest person. She was the one that did not serve my friend. It’s a nice place but I don’t play around with that. It’s 2021, let’s go better.
First everything was very cold; eggs, and refried beans. The avocado was brown and old and was served such a small amount! And nothing, nothing had any flavor whatsoever. Maybe it was the cook today….idk but I had this meal before and it was hearty and great. This is super disappointing. Times are hard right now so when I order food I expect to be what I pay for. Upon checkout, when I leaving the tip, I caught the cashier staring at what I was going to leave-made me feel uncomfortable. I’m a regular, but probably not for a while now, can’t afford bad service.
