Cafe Calaca Brooklyn Reviews
My favorite coffee shop! It has a casual upbeat neighborhood vibe with solid music playlists, addictive food, quality coffee, fast service, and most importantly, good people. Everyone that works there is super sweet, interesting, cool, and always seem to know everyone’s name. They have a back patio where lots of people bring their dogs and host fun neighborhood comedy shows once a month. I highly recommend the chorizo burrito with guac and their vanilla oat matcha, but it’s all great!
Excellent coffee and pastries and super nice people. The berry pistachio toast was so good that I instantly regretted sharing it and not getting a whole one for myself. Thankfully I have their chocolate olive oil cake saved for later 😋. Can’t wait to try their empanadas next!
Best empanadas and breakfast burrito I've had in recent memory. Amazing matcha and coffee drinks too
Incredible first experience here. Delicious food and the Strawberry Matcha was so refreshing. I will absolutely be back for more
This spot is honestly perfect- chill vibes amazing food. Super friendly staff. Definitely coming back.
I should have taken a picture but I was famished. I had the chorizo burrito. It was so delicious. The chorizo is super fresh and tasty. It is a very satisfying portion. The cold brew is super good too. Don’t pass this place by. Ivan and the staff are super friendly. Today I had the avocado toast with salad. So tasty. I don’t usually eat bread but it was so flavorful. The avaocado nice with a little spice. The salad and dressing so tasty and fresh. The coffee was great too. I had the Rosewater Iced Latte. (Took a pic this time). Super good 😋
I choose this place for a date and at least the place was more comfortable then my date 🤣🤣🤣 I really enjoy the croissant with chocolate and the oat milk with coffee
Very attentive.. The coffee is great, the food options are accommodating and delicious.. Its a great location to work or enjoy time.
A pilar of the community, Cafe Calaca offers not only impeccable vibes, but freaking top tier food (not to mention their iced mocha is the best one I’ve had; quite literally ever). There’s a rotating artist every month or so featured on the entrance wall, with purchase-able work. At night, Cafe Calaca hosts a wide variety of events—comedy shows, spoken word slams, latinx/spanish rap/hip hop performances, book releases—you name it. Cafe Calaca is peak for a reason!! This is a MUST 👏🏻 GO👏🏻 if you are ever in the neighborhood ♥️
Cafe Calaca is awesome. This location was formerly a coffee shop that closed and the former baristas decided to open their own business, welcome to Cafe Calaca. Cafe Calaca is a cool, Latin-inspired business. They have been in business for one year serving their community. Everything smells fabulous. They are open for business every day, from 7:00 am -5:00 pm. However, the kitchen is only open from 8am-3pm. It seems as if they are popular because it was crowded indoors but thankfully they have additional seating in the back of the business. I chose to try the butterscotch latte and the pork empanada. I love this business.
THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN NYC! I truly never review, and have such a high standard for what is considered good food. The food here is unbelievably good, SO vegetarian friendly and the meat is incredible. The owner/chef takes such care and time to only cook fresh, tasty, home-cooked styled meals. The beans are slow roasted, as well as the fresh corn tortillas in yummy salsa verde sauce. The coffee and lattes are inventive and fresh. Of course, the staff is so incredibly friendly and able to accommodate anyone, even the pickiest eater. The staff is diverse and respectful. The vibe is great, and they have an outdoor space. Make the commute, come check this place out, you truly won’t regret it.
Great coffee. The best in the neighborhood in my opinion. Very friendly and welcoming. The cafe just opened up and the owners are awesome so stop by to say hello. They also have empanadas and other great goodies to eat. Also, they have a great backyard which is awesome and lovely to sit especially on a nice day. Definitely check it out!

i think this might have been the best empanada (beef) i’ve had in my life. service was amazing too
They make excellent coffee. I have been here a number of times and the coffee is consistently good. Their breakfast is very good too. Do try the beef empanadas, so good!!!
This place is a hidden gem! From the outside, it might not stand out, but once you step in, you're welcomed by a cozy atmosphere and a spotless, inviting space. The people here are wonderful, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. If you live in the neighborhood, this is definitely a spot worth visiting at least once. I had an amazing egg sandwich after a long time, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended!
Most delicious food and beverages, always served with a smile no matter how busy it is!
Excellent coffee. Really amazing staff. Neighborhood favorite

This restaurant had amazing food (I got the chilaquilas and the spicy mocha), great ambience and they allowed me to bring my dog into their spacious and adorable backyard space which is what I was looking for since we all needed to get out of the house. However I'm giving them four stars because I was juggling a new born and a dog in a tiny space and no one in their staff offered to help me at all...no one opened doors, offered to bring me my food to my table so I wouldn't have to bring my whole crew back into their tiny space from the backyard and they not only watched me bring my food and hot coffee out while also carrying my newborn but one of the baristas carried food out to a different customer while I was doing it. If it wasn't from the help of their friendly customers (there were many — one even offered to watch my dog and gave him a treat while I went to check on my order...I love NYers) I would have never gotten my food or been able to get in or out of their restaurant. I would have understood if the staff was in a rush (especially given the worker shortage these days) but it was slow when I was waiting on my food and there were three people behind the counter, two of which were waiting for more orders to come in. I loved the cafe but little acts of services go a long way and not offering them when someone is clearly struggling is not easily forgotten.

Vibes are good, but difficult to work bc music is pretty loud. Coffee was great and WiFi works. Patio is the place to be. I think I ordered wrong but the migas were fine. Get the salsa macha !
I got there on Saturday morning and ordered a burrito and coffee. The burrito was reasonably priced but the quality was good. The coffee was a great surprise, it was amazing. It's a cute little hipster place with an interesting design. Overall, it's a nice place, like a neighborhood coffee shop.
Delivery is inconsistent and items have been missing even after requesting redelivery. I recommend pickup or dining in, has a good outdoor space and the drinks and food are well made.
The empanadas are incredibly small and the photos on here are deceptive. Literally the size of my MetroCard. They were fresh and tasty but they werent good enough to justify the price and size. At $5 an empanada I should not have left hungry. How is the sauce cup half the size of my empanada man. That's crazy. Staff was amazing and very kind. The atmosphere is very cool and I love the art on the walls. The backyard is nice. The food is a rip off.

First everything was very cold; eggs, and refried beans. The avocado was brown and old and was served such a small amount! And nothing, nothing had any flavor whatsoever. Maybe it was the cook today….idk but I had this meal before and it was hearty and great. This is super disappointing. Times are hard right now so when I order food I expect to be what I pay for. Upon checkout, when I leaving the tip, I caught the cashier staring at what I was going to leave-made me feel uncomfortable. I’m a regular, but probably not for a while now, can’t afford bad service.
