Best blintzes ever! The food is great. Authentic.

S

The chicken cutlets are superb. Always got the Chicken Devaile which owners son made to perfection. White borsht soup with mashed potatoes; wow! Blintzes and pierogi to die for. Always wonderful bread and side dishes. This is a homey small cafeteria restaurant not a place to linger in but they don't bother you. If yo sit for an hour you will see 5 changes of people in one place setting. TAKEOUT IS EASY but there may be a line which is very worth waiting on!

Love the vibe of this place. Old school cafeteria type beat. Yummy polish food. Great prices. Friendly staff. A solid place to stop by for lunch or casual dinner.

Had the Polish Platter. Everything was great, and it was a ton of food. Can't wait to come back here! Stuffed cabbage was probably the best I have ever had.

One of the best places to eat European food(polish), they only accept cash. Try a hash brown with beef it's mind blowing. Also all portions are huge and not that expensive. Perfect place to for lunch.

A plate of 8 pierogies plus coleslaw on the side, $9, was PLENTY for lunch. Potato/cheese and mushroom/sauerkraut pierogies were both delicious. The dining room was nothing special, but clean.

Joanna Zdziaszek

Delicious food. As always, good food and fresh. Huge servings. However, we feel that prices are going up. No surprise there as everything is going up. Had the pork cutlet and it was delicious.

Authentic no frill Polish food. Better than any of the Polish-American spots in Greenpoint. This is what I grew up with in Poland. Expect a long wait.

The place doesn't look like much, but the food was excellent, and the women serving the food was really helpful indicating what to have, even suggesting half portions in some of the dishes.

If you’re looking for authentic, tasty and inexpensive Polish food, Pyza is one of the best options around. The simple, no-nonsense menu and atmosphere is great and the portions are generous and filling. If you can’t decide what you want they have a fantastic combo plate that will fill you up and you’ll have plenty to take home for another meal.

Dziękuję Pyza!! Polish American from Florida here 👋🏼 I came to "Little Poland" and found Pyza, the best and most authentic Polish food I've ever had, next to my Babcia's obviously. Get the Polish plate. Get the Pyza. Get the borscht. Get the potato pancakes. Get the flaki. Get the gołąbki. You're welcome.

Great home style Polish food. It brings back memories of my Grandma's food.

One of the best tripe soups (especially considering how simple and smooth the broth was) I've had in some time. A generous amount of tripe and a wonderful texture to them. I was told the pierogi were quite tasty too. Would definitely go back for more

Home-cooked meals with a large variety of traditional / Ethnic choices along with a rotation of different soups and sides. For the portion and Care taken to cook the food a stellar deal. Almost worth walking ~10+ blocks for..wish they were still on Manhattan Ave ;) if you haven't tried them before also try the fruit pierogies.

A

Reminds me of a Polish milk bar. I think they're cash only, and fairly old fashioned (I don't think they're on any ordering apps or deliver, you have to come in person to dine in or takeout). Delicious food.

Delicious and authentic Polish food. In my opinion it is the best Polish restaurant in Greenpoint because the quality and preparation is very consistent and the price is very reasonable. My favorite place to eat. I highly recommend this place!

First time trying Polish food. I was very satisfied and amazed by the authenticity and portions. Great taste. Also great prices. Will come back very soon. Had the pyzy & the chicken cutlet👇🏽

P

I've been coming here my whole life. The food is consistent in quality, and while you shouldn't expect a five star restaurant- the food is damn good Polish food. You won't find a truly authentic place for any cheaper. Try the kotlet panierowany or nalesniki- you won't be disappointed.

S
Swarnima Sircar

Seriously excellent Polish food at more than reasonable prices (for NYC). The spare ribs (about $10) were excellent and filling, as were the potato pancakes ($9.50). Cash only.

If you're looking for authentic Polish food, this is it. Best Polish restaurant in Greenpoint. My first stop when in the area. Their Pierogi are to die for. Seating area and Polish TV running. Cash only, extra $.25 for takeout containers.

1) if you are Polish, this is a must visit, order in Polish! 2) the Kielbasa is known as the best in NYC, it sells out but the rest of the menu is worth checking out and will show you some better food. 3) respect the granny’s.

This is a great little restaurant for Polish food. It is served family style very simple and for a great price. You even bus your own dishes and trays

Some of the most authentic Polish food I’ve ever had. It was almost as if I was in Poland. Best Pierogi’s in greenpoint hands down!

E
Ewa Zaniewski

Love coming to this place over the years for authentic polish food. For some Polish food this feels like any Polish moms cooking and leaves you full. Had the pyza with coleslaw on the side which had such a soft outside texture and good meat filling inside. Any item on the menu is delicious and well priced.

K
Kiariladyboss

I rate Pyza 5 starts because of the great balance between food and price. This is an easy and cheap authentic Polish restaurant in Greenpoint with a lot of options written both in Polish and English on the menu. They show Polish tv shows and news on tv. Food is good, been there twice and will definitely go back!

Flash back to elementary school cafeteria. Warm and hearty food that you can enjoy wholeheartedly. I ordered pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes and coleslaw + beets salad as side. The mashed potatoes were soft and creamy/buttery. The schnitzel was crispy and meat was tender. Beets salad was sweet and refreshing. Coselaw was nice and crunchy; not overwhelming with mayo flavor. There is no gravy or sauce. Since that tasted good, I also got tripe soup. Warning... It is hot! But very delicious and packed with flavor from herbs, celery, carrots. You can soak it all up with the sour bread slices they give you. Only regret... I should have gotten cucumber salad, since I love it, but didn't know they had it. I'll definitely be coming back. They don't provide water, you have to clean your table after finishing (just like polish school cafeteria). Highly recommend it to anyone.

My visit here was completely satisfying. The meal satisfied my taste buds and my appetite. The interior lighting created good visibility. Employees demonstrate unparalleled kindness and gladly provide guidance when you look uncertain. So impressed, can't wait to go back!

Very unassuming short-order style (with entrees served on a cafeteria tray) restaurant with excellent / authentic / inexpensive Polish 🇵🇱 food. White Borscht and Meat Pierogis!

M

A true bar mleczny in a neighborhood that once had more of them, Pyza is likely the best and most authentic Polish dining experience you'll have west of Szczeczin (or at least in Brooklyn). Get the eponymous pyza and whatever soups they have that day, then go home and watch (or rewatch) your favorite Juliusz Machulski movie (mine's Seksmisja).

D
Daniel Rosenhaus

I really liked it here, great food, laid back vibe and truly authentic Polish food in Greenpoint. You wait on line as soon as you get in and they make your food to order, so it's hot and fresh every time. We got the white borscht soup which was great and the Polish Plate. Wow, the Plate had everything, potato pancakes, mashed potatoes, pierogi, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut, and for only $12.50! I don't really like sauerkraut, but this was the best I've ever had, not bitter and flavorful with bits of roast pork. Everything else on the plate was really good too, especially the pierogi and potato pancakes. I can't compare it to the other places in the area, but I recommend Pyza.

Z
Zbyszko Latek

Great over-the-counter food with portions that truly surprised me—enormous, especially for the price. In a time when affordability is hard to come by, Pyza offers a deal that’s tough to beat. The atmosphere is pleasant, though it leans more toward a work-friendly dining experience.

Super hearty food. Expect to waddle out. Veal cutlet w egg and carrot salad is on point. Pierogi are very humble and very delicious.

We ordered a catering for our small wedding party. It was soo soo good! Very nice service, very easy to talk to. Delicious food, very big portions. We got pierogies, krokiety, nalesniki and fish and chicken. Everything came on time so fresh and still warm for the party. Each of our guests polish and non polish enjoyed it thank you so much for the amazing hospitality

Great polish "bar mleczny" restaurant, which has amazing food for very affordable prices. The cook prepares everything fresh, and nothing is frozen. You can listen to polish tv while eating polish homemade food. Service is very personalized, which makes you feel as if you're meeting your favorite grandma.

Good cafeteria style eating in a clean, comfortable, non-ostentatious setting. One of the few original Polish cafeterias still standing! Nice portions, good Polish home cooking. Stop in on your way home from work for sustenance or with your friends and family for an inexpensive unhurrried chat. Near the G train and several bus lines.

A

First rate home style Polish food at unbeatable prices. You really can't get a better value in this city. The portions are huge, the prices are all below $10 each. I already get the pork chop. It comes with a side (mashed potatoes is my fave) and 2 salads. I recommend the cucumber-dill salad or the cold beet salad are great.

Delicious, authentic, inexpensive and filling polish food. Polish Platter is more for two people. No frills hole in the wall that takes cash only (no ATM inside)

I wrote this review 7 years ago but I’m updating it now in 2026. I’ve been coming to this place for years and now that I’ve started going to Poland for work 1-2 times a year, I have to say this place is as close to Poland as it gets in this area in my experience from the from, the clientele and staff. Some places don’t change for a reason and this is one of them.

Maria Smocz

Felt like Poland but Poland 40 years ago 😂 we laughed that it’s mora authentic than Poland is polish. But we got good food for good price and service was nice. I think not having a possibility to pay by card is a minus, it’s 21st century- come on.

This place has deserved my public support for a while. The cooking was excellent, but the fair prices and outstanding service were special. This spot has a good feel everywhere. The kitchen impresses while the atmosphere enhances. I'm ensuring friends benefit from this discovery.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Polish restaurant in Brooklyn and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The cafeteria-style setup made it easy to choose from a variety of delicious homemade dishes, all of which were generous portions at a great value. The food itself was absolutely delicious, with authentic Polish flavors that reminded me of home. Pyzy were a standout for me but the veil kotlet was 🔥🔥🔥. The customer service was also top-notch, with friendly staff members who were quick to answer any questions and make recommendations.

Ended up in the Polish neighbourhood during our trip to NYC and tried having some authentic Polish food. Pyza didn't disappoint. Not recall clearly what we ordered but it was tasty. Will recommend to friends visiting NYC.

Outstanding traditional old school homemade Polish food. Everything is delicious and extremely fresh and well prepared. Probably the best Polish restaurant in NY, even better than Pierozek and Karczma, and the portions are huge and prices unbeatable. I only paid $20 to get an order of Ukranian red Borscht and 2 stuffed cabbages with meat with the side of mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and beet salad already included in the order. That's almost an unthinkable price for NY. The only downside is they are a cash only restaurant so make sure to bring cash before ordering, but the food and service is outstanding.

Came here for a traditional Polish lunch, and left so, so satisfied. My fav were the Zéberka (Spare ribs) -- they were cooked perfectly. I also loved the potato pancakes with the goulash (Placek Po Węgiersku?). ALSO: try the seasonal beet soup. It's served cold, and was so refreshing on the hot day. I'll be back, many, many times!

Quiet, unassuming, bare bones, family run Polish food for hungry people of all backgrounds. We've been here several times, but not since before covid. I'm happy to report that the place hasn't changed a bit! There's no table service. Place your order and have a seat! Don't forget to clean up after yourself. This no doubt helps keep prices modest. I haven't sampled many different things here. I stick with veal cutlet with very basic-but-satisfying mashed garnished with a little sauteed onion, and two sides, today I had plain red cabbage and a delicate cucumber salad. Great on a hot day! The fried fish is also very good, also served with mashed and two sides. I HIGHLY recommend Pyza. (Keep in mind, this place is as quiet as a library used to be in the 1960s! Even with every table occupied, no one speaks above a whisper, perhaps so the locals can hear the Polish tv playing in the background)

D
Daniel Pino

Atmosphere/layout: cafeteria trays; ten or so two-seat tables; television with Polish news channel; cash only Service: Food came out fast considering one woman at the counter and one in the kitchen Food/drink: Ordered the Polish Plate (two potato pancakes, mashed potatoes, stuffed cabbage, three pierogies, kielbasa with sauerkraut, four half sour pickles) - all good

M

Home style Polish food in generous portions at a very reasonable price. We love their cutlets, mash potatoes, and various side dishes.

M

If you want authentic polish food, Pyza is really great. Highly recommend their Pyza, which is a really soft huge dumpling stuffed with meat. The pierogi was good too but small portion size or they would've gotten a 5 star review.

p
paradoxdrifter

This is one of those places without wait service, so you grab your food from the counter when it's ready. They've got a fair amount of space available for diners. I got the potato and cheese pierogies, which were good but a little overpriced. The bathroom needs better ventilation, or maybe just an air freshener.

Very tasty polish cuisine meals

M

Feels like what I imagine it's like walking into a little restaurant in Poland. I liked the meat pierogi ($8), but then I always like pierogi. The potato dumplings with meat ($8) are really hearty and filling, but didn't do much for me in terms of the way they taste. I believe all the entrees come with salads, and they've got a pretty wide selection to choose from including beets and sauerkraut. Cash only.

M
M K

The interior feels like a lobby of an old hospital. There isn't much decor and the inside is dark. However food felt authentic and take and very tasty. The proportion is worth the cost and the lady that work there was very nice. They had various types of pierogies and many dishes which I've never seen such as the tea made from red beets. Overall I will come back here again to try other pierogies.

m

Excellent sample of traditional Polish cuisine. Pyza is one of few long running Polish restaurants left in Greenpoint, where Polish immigrants used to settle. Good for dinner. Simple, no pretense, inexpensive, yet tasty. Don't let the decor throw you off (that's the missing star): by no means cozy nor elegant. Order your food McDonald's style, and carry your tray to a table. Cash only. As for the cuisine itself, beware - it tends to be heavy.

CL G
CL G

The service was great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. You have to order at the register and pick up your food there, when it's ready. Then sit down at one of the many tables to eat. I also went to the rest room and it was clean. I was the only black person, but treated the same as anyone else. I ordered the polish platter (mashed potatoes, sausage, 4 chicken stuffed dumplings, stuffed cabbage with rice and ground meat with sauce on top, 2 potato latkes and the cabbage with meat). I had to ask for the sour cream for the latkes. The food was good, but I've had better. The stuffed cabbage wasn't nearly as good as the one that I purchased at a Polish restaurant in Manhattan. I ordered the blintzes. I ordered strawberry on the cashiers recommendation and I also ordered the cheese one. They come with apple sauce and sour cream. I meant to take a picture but forgot. The cheese flavor was good the strawberry one is really good. The price is decent at $24 for the platter (at the time of writing this). The blintzes is $12. You get to pick 2 out of 3 flavors (strawberry, blueberry or cheese). They do not mix the flavors together in one blintz. I also like the way they wrap it. They enclosed the crepe among itself on all sides (hiding the filling), unlike most places which leave the crepe open.

Truly Polish dining experience in New York. The portions are massive, and the food is really good. The pierogi aren’t the best, but everything else makes up for it. I regularly visit this place whenever I’m in NYC. Edit: What truly shocked me, though, was the behavior of the owner/manager (or whoever was in charge). This didn’t happen on my first visit, but on a later one. The lovely woman at the till briefly left her station to help open the door for a family with a stroller — a noble and kind gesture. Instead of appreciating it, he started shouting and swearing at her in front of everyone, yelling “it’s not your responsibility.” His behavior was disgraceful. He came across as an uncivilized, vulgar bully with zero manners, shouting at someone far more noble and professional than he could ever be. She showed class, warmth, and dedication, while he exposed himself as a crude, arrogant man who doesn’t deserve to represent a place with such good food.

If you are looking for rustic Polish food in an authentically Polish environment surrounded by Polish people, the Polish language , and Polish TV then this is it. It’s sincere , authentic , and hardy with great portions. I ordered the “Polish Platter.”

Raghu Krishnamachari

Authentic polish home cooked food. This is a self service restaurant, you order with the friendly guy at the counter, and you pickup your tray of food. The portions are huge, but the food is a bit on the greasy side. Highly recommend their Kielbasa, which you can order as a side (not on the menu). We ordered the polish plate and chicken cutlet and a side of Kielbasa. The polish plate at $14 comes with salad, pickles, kielbasa, pierogi, potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage and mashed potatoes. The cutlet/entrees come with 2 sides each.

R

Great place for Polish takeout (especially for the price), but by no means the best in the Greenpoint area! Portions are pretty generous and the Polish grandmothers in the kitchen really add to the charm!

N
Nicholas Stebenne

Tasty homemade Polish food. Find a table & wait for the goodies to come out. Almost every main dish comes with some sort of salad. My favorite dish in the summer is the fried fish. In the winter it's the stuffed cabbage. Prices are still affordable even though they've gone up a bit lately.

L
Lydia Crespo

Authentic Polish food served by grandma's in a communist looking no frills atmosphere. The barley soup I had was delicious, though the potato pancakes need a bit more flavor, but then no one will make them as good as my Mom. And it's incredibly inexpensive.

The place has great authentic Polish food but prices are thru the roof. I used to get these couple years ago for less than $10. Now simple KOTLET SCHABOWY is $16!!!

Lack luster food and moody staff. Dark and drab interior. The food taste like elementary school cafeteria food with no flavor and the presentation was on par with that of a broken flower pot. Upon ordering everything we asked for they were out of. As we went down the menu it was as if every third item was available. We ordered the chicken cutlet which was good and the only reason they achieved two stars, the pork cutlet which was bland and soggy with mashed potatoes that had zero flavor, the Hungarian pankcake which tasted like a grease soaked dish towel with some form of brown gravy and beef that perhaps came in a can with the disclaimer "not fit for consumption by prisoners in the state of california" on the label. And finally the nalesniki which was edible. Over all the food was a waste of money , time and effort. Served in chipped plastic plates and to top off all of the disappointment they have no drinks available for purchase the choice was banana Snapple on the day we went , when we asked if they had anything else we were told no and when we asked for water the request was ignored. We walked down to the liquor store and bought drinks and brought them back. Only reason we stayed was that people we know told us the food was good. In all reality we should have run away . Horrible experience and nothing you should waste your time or money on go elsewhere.

Crystal Cane

Bought the tripe soup flaczki, the most disgusting water saturated tripe no flavor horrible and a small container costs $9.50 never ever again. Rip off. The cook sucks, soup disgusting.
