I wrote this review 7 years ago but I’m updating it now in 2026. I’ve been coming to this place for years and now that I’ve started going to Poland for work 1-2 times a year, I have to say this place is as close to Poland as it gets in this area in my experience from the from, the clientele and staff. Some places don’t change for a reason and this is one of them.

Felt like Poland but Poland 40 years ago 😂 we laughed that it’s mora authentic than Poland is polish. But we got good food for good price and service was nice. I think not having a possibility to pay by card is a minus, it’s 21st century- come on.

This place has deserved my public support for a while. The cooking was excellent, but the fair prices and outstanding service were special. This spot has a good feel everywhere. The kitchen impresses while the atmosphere enhances. I'm ensuring friends benefit from this discovery.

Delicious affordable large portions. The OG of Polish restaurants in Greenpoint.

This restaurant has figured out the formula that eludes others. The workers showed authentic kindness throughout our meal. Their cooking brings good flavors. The dishes here taste fantastic. Could make this my weekly food ritual!

I already know I'll be back here next week for another meal. Meals provide tasty cultural exchanges. The staff was superb, incredibly alert and likable. Their cooking is skillful and precise. The workers provide outstanding service.

This restaurant balances quality food with nice employees. This place is exceptional in every way! Everything on my plate was fresh, had good seasoning, and was cooked right. The server started with a standard restaurant welcome and order inquiry. This place makes others unnecessary.

This place makes dining enjoyable. Warm team atmosphere. My meal was perfectly conceived and executed. Comfortable atmosphere with friendly team and uncluttered design. I aim to make time for another meal here soon.

Very well cooked chicken cutlet. Crisp and juicy. Next time I would go without the cheese. There were tons of mushrooms on this. Very good.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Polish restaurant in Brooklyn and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. The cafeteria-style setup made it easy to choose from a variety of delicious homemade dishes, all of which were generous portions at a great value. The food itself was absolutely delicious, with authentic Polish flavors that reminded me of home. Pyzy were a standout for me but the veil kotlet was 🔥🔥🔥. The customer service was also top-notch, with friendly staff members who were quick to answer any questions and make recommendations.

Ended up in the Polish neighbourhood during our trip to NYC and tried having some authentic Polish food. Pyza didn't disappoint. Not recall clearly what we ordered but it was tasty. Will recommend to friends visiting NYC.

Outstanding traditional old school homemade Polish food. Everything is delicious and extremely fresh and well prepared. Probably the best Polish restaurant in NY, even better than Pierozek and Karczma, and the portions are huge and prices unbeatable. I only paid $20 to get an order of Ukranian red Borscht and 2 stuffed cabbages with meat with the side of mashed potatoes and sauerkraut and beet salad already included in the order. That's almost an unthinkable price for NY. The only downside is they are a cash only restaurant so make sure to bring cash before ordering, but the food and service is outstanding.

Delicious food that really hits the spot. Had the "Polish Plate" but definitely needed the doggy bag, very generous portions. The borscht was packed with flavor and was the perfect accompaniment to the plate.

Real Polish home cuisine. Delicious meals freshly made. It's Deffinatly worth visiting if you are a fancy Polish Dinner. It has a very old interior design, but the food quality and portion are just perfect!

Came here for a traditional Polish lunch, and left so, so satisfied. My fav were the Zéberka (Spare ribs) -- they were cooked perfectly. I also loved the potato pancakes with the goulash (Placek Po Węgiersku?). ALSO: try the seasonal beet soup. It's served cold, and was so refreshing on the hot day. I'll be back, many, many times!

Quiet, unassuming, bare bones, family run Polish food for hungry people of all backgrounds. We've been here several times, but not since before covid. I'm happy to report that the place hasn't changed a bit! There's no table service. Place your order and have a seat! Don't forget to clean up after yourself. This no doubt helps keep prices modest. I haven't sampled many different things here. I stick with veal cutlet with very basic-but-satisfying mashed garnished with a little sauteed onion, and two sides, today I had plain red cabbage and a delicate cucumber salad. Great on a hot day! The fried fish is also very good, also served with mashed and two sides. I HIGHLY recommend Pyza. (Keep in mind, this place is as quiet as a library used to be in the 1960s! Even with every table occupied, no one speaks above a whisper, perhaps so the locals can hear the Polish tv playing in the background)

The service was great. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. You have to order at the register and pick up your food there, when it's ready. Then sit down at one of the many tables to eat. I also went to the rest room and it was clean. I was the only black person, but treated the same as anyone else. I ordered the polish platter (mashed potatoes, sausage, 4 chicken stuffed dumplings, stuffed cabbage with rice and ground meat with sauce on top, 2 potato latkes and the cabbage with meat). I had to ask for the sour cream for the latkes. The food was good, but I've had better. The stuffed cabbage wasn't nearly as good as the one that I purchased at a Polish restaurant in Manhattan. I ordered the blintzes. I ordered strawberry on the cashiers recommendation and I also ordered the cheese one. They come with apple sauce and sour cream. I meant to take a picture but forgot. The cheese flavor was good the strawberry one is really good. The price is decent at $24 for the platter (at the time of writing this). The blintzes is $12. You get to pick 2 out of 3 flavors (strawberry, blueberry or cheese). They do not mix the flavors together in one blintz. I also like the way they wrap it. They enclosed the crepe among itself on all sides (hiding the filling), unlike most places which leave the crepe open.

Truly Polish dining experience in New York. The portions are massive, and the food is really good. The pierogi aren’t the best, but everything else makes up for it. I regularly visit this place whenever I’m in NYC. Edit: What truly shocked me, though, was the behavior of the owner/manager (or whoever was in charge). This didn’t happen on my first visit, but on a later one. The lovely woman at the till briefly left her station to help open the door for a family with a stroller — a noble and kind gesture. Instead of appreciating it, he started shouting and swearing at her in front of everyone, yelling “it’s not your responsibility.” His behavior was disgraceful. He came across as an uncivilized, vulgar bully with zero manners, shouting at someone far more noble and professional than he could ever be. She showed class, warmth, and dedication, while he exposed himself as a crude, arrogant man who doesn’t deserve to represent a place with such good food.

It's a good place for Polish comfort food. Every time I've eaten here the food is so satisfying. Hunter stew, tripe soup, and stuffed cabbage with are my favorites.

If you are looking for rustic Polish food in an authentically Polish environment surrounded by Polish people, the Polish language , and Polish TV then this is it. It’s sincere , authentic , and hardy with great portions. I ordered the “Polish Platter.”

Authentic polish home cooked food. This is a self service restaurant, you order with the friendly guy at the counter, and you pickup your tray of food. The portions are huge, but the food is a bit on the greasy side. Highly recommend their Kielbasa, which you can order as a side (not on the menu). We ordered the polish plate and chicken cutlet and a side of Kielbasa. The polish plate at $14 comes with salad, pickles, kielbasa, pierogi, potato pancakes, stuffed cabbage and mashed potatoes. The cutlet/entrees come with 2 sides each.
