Opiniones de Sofreh Brooklyn
Insatiable food. The flavors of each dish were unique to its own but combined and complimented each other so beautifully. Service was great - everyone was so kind. They were also well knowledgeable on the dishes and described the drinks and food with such detail! The suggestions were amazing. Unfortunately didn’t take any pics but here’s the dessert. I was so full but I couldn’t stop eating the ice cream. 10/10 through and through.
One of the best meals you can have in New York City is at Sofreh. Persian food is built around hospitality, depth of flavor, and sharing food with people you care about, and Sofreh embodies that perfectly. Every dish feels thoughtful and authentic. What makes Sofreh special isn’t just the food. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely joyful. It feels like you’re being invited into someone’s home rather than just sitting down at a restaurant.
This is after the 2nd time coming here. The service was excellent. The waitstaff was attentive and had excellent communication. The food was so flavorful. I really enjoyed the eggplant and the noodle stew. Would highly recommend! Definitely make a reservation
I expected to have a good dinner, based on the reviews I read, but my son and I were blown away by our experience last week. The restaurant space is beautiful and the young woman who served us was quietly charming. But the food! Every bite was pure joy. I have eaten in exceptional restaurants all over the world and Sofreh is now among a very small group of personal treasures.
Never disappointed. I live in Chelsea but commute to Brooklyn just to eat here. Delicious food and great service. Went there with some friends Tuesday night. I had the chicken, so tasty the lamb shank was also a big hit. Staff was knowledgeable about food which was good because one friend had food allergies issues. Can’t wait to go back
I don’t say this lightly: Sofreh is truly one of the city’s standout restaurants. Every dish reflects a level of mastery that’s hard to overstate. The kitchen takes authentic Persian flavors and elevates them with real creativity—the ribeye “kebab” is a perfect example. I was equally taken with the eggplant and whey dip; it was so good that I bought their cookbook afterward just to understand the sorcery behind it. And a special shoutout to the wonderful service team, who made the experience even better.
This is an absolutely wonderful place. The service, food, decore, experience all were excellent. The location from the patrons point of view was immaculately clean. You didn't smell any odors from the kitchen and we were right across from the kitchen window. Food wise everyrhing was delicious. My personal favorite was the lamb shank, it was so tender and flavorful. It paired very well with the heavily seasoned rice. The rice pudding was very interesting totally different taste profile from what I am used to. For our starters we had three dishes a salad, flatbread and a mushroom dish, all of them were different and interesting. The mushroom dish was savory and woodsy, the salad was hearty and flavorful with a hint of spicy heat, the flat bread was also delicious. As expected the meal was pricey but nowhere near as bad as I expected. All in all the bill came in at $235 and some change with the tip included it was actually below $200 @ $185 before tip. I did leave a nice tip as the way they seem to work there is you do have a main server but they seem to tag team the tables if you have an empty dish and they see it whoever sees it grabs it. When it was time to switch the table settings another server did that, we were served by at least three different servers so I would assume they pool and split tips in some fashion. So with that in mind I left a nice one so everyone got a decent cut. We also had a cake and two drinks. I don't remember which drinks or cake but they were all tasty as well. Something I did like about the cake was that it was not too heavy nor overly sweet. It actually went very well with the rice pudding, both the Misses and I found ourselves combining them to eat. My drink was made with a spirit that has an interesting back story, it is currently banned in Iran its call Aragh Sagi it was an interesting drink. The raisins come across very strongly, its quite nice. I ordered a shot of it neat to try it. This is definitely a spot that I would recommend anyone try if they want something different. My favorite part of this meal of course was the food followed closely by the service. Value wise this is an experience that lived up to the you get what you pay for saying. I paid a decent price and I got a decent experience for the cost.
Absolutely loved Sofreh. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere feels calm, elegant, and truly special. The staff were kind and attentive, and the whole experience had that warm Persian charm that makes you want to come back. Definitely one of the best restaurants in New York City.
Whenever I can, I go to this restaurant, which, for me, is the best restaurant in New York City. I love this restaurant. Its food and flavors are unique, its service is high-quality and very friendly, and the atmosphere is out of this world. I recommend it 1000%. The chef and founder are lovely people, as is the manager. Thank you, as always.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Sofreh. The space is so beautiful and thoughtfully designed, and even the staff uniforms added to how stylish and put together everything felt. The whole place has such a cute and welcoming vibe, and the staff were beyond nice. The food was fantastic. The dishes had small creative twists while still staying very authentic to traditional Persian flavors. The tahdig is an absolute must. It was the best I have ever had in my life. Just note that it is limited to one order per table. Portions are not very sharable unless you order several different dishes, which is what we ended up doing. I also tried the kabob, which was delicious, especially with the pomegranate sauce. That said, it was more like a steak than a traditional kabob, so just something to keep in mind. Sadly, I could not get a picture of it because it was so good we ate it right away. Overall, Sofreh is a beautiful restaurant with amazing food, wonderful staff, and a great atmosphere. I would definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for an elevated Persian dining experience in New York.
I celebrated my birthday at Sofreh this year and I was so incredibly blown away. Living in nyc it’s very difficult to find authentic amazing Iranian food. I love the bathroom of course, couldn’t be more iconic. Definitely want to go back and try more menu items. Ended up buying the cook book from the chef. Let’s see if I can make dishes as amazing. Love this place!
This place is a fantastic Persian restaurant! 🇮🇷 Sofreh in Brooklyn 🗽 serves a wonderful selection of delicious 🤤 Persian dishes 🍽️ and drinks 🍹 - definitely get the Doough Sparkling Yogurt 🥛Drink 🥤, carrots 🥕, cauliflower (a bit spicy 🥵), lamb shank 🍖 and steak. 🥩 The staff 👨🍳 is friendly and welcoming, service is quick ⏲️, ambience 🎶 is great, and the place is beautifully decorated. 🛋️ They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating. 🪑 Reservation 🛎️ is recommended. I wish I knew about this place earlier!
Scored a last-minute Thursday night reservation at 7:45 for a group of four, and it was everything I hoped for and more. I’d been craving Persian food while visiting New York, and Sofreh absolutely delivered. We ordered some of my all-time favorites: • Eggplant and Whey Dip • Shallots & Yogurt • Tahdig • Lamb Shank • Dried Lime & Herb Beef Stew (Ghormeh Sabzi) Every dish was spot-on—beautifully prepared, packed with flavor, and perfect for sharing. The tahdig had that signature golden crust, the eggplant dip was rich and tangy, and the ghormeh sabzi was deeply comforting with its bold herb and dried lime notes. The lamb shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of spice. Sofreh strikes a perfect balance between tradition and modern flair. If you’re in the city and craving a thoughtful take on classic Persian dishes, this place is a must.
Atmosphere was definitely a vibe. Cute backyard area, good for a really small group. Really enjoyed the apps, didnt like the Persian Basil Seed Drink (Sharbat Tokhm-e Sharbati) because it was a little floral and perfumy for me. Saffron rice could have had a stronger saffron taste, but I recommend all the apps. I liked it so much I forgot to take photos. The lamb shank was yummy and had a lot of meat on it!
My partner and I had a wonderful date night at Sofreh. We got there right when it opened because we didn’t have a reservation. We sat at the bar and had good service the entire time. The sour cherry cooler was delicious and a good option if you’re not drinking alcohol. All the food was good but the cauliflower and the watermelon feta salad were sooo delicious and definitely our favorites. The atmosphere was nice and I thought the projector in the downstairs bathroom was cool. Definitely will be back!
Our experience was exceptional. We arrived ten minutes early and were promptly seated. The food was served quickly, and I highly recommend the eggplant and whey dip! The service provided by Emmanuel was outstanding. Don’t forget to look at the dessert menu! I look forward to returning to explore more dishes. PS: we had trouble finding parking around the area probably best to commute if you’re not from the area.
Absolutely delicious food and its own mix on a variety of Persian cuisine. Service was great with thoughtful staff. Only note I would make is that we were 5people for a 6person reservation and they charged us 20$ ( yes I agreed to it when I made reso but this change is completely normal for dinner). I told them immediately when we arrived. This is despite the table really only being for 5 people to begin with. 5 stars for everything but management. I would give it 2 stars. The extra star is for decor music and design, last for service which was great. I would recommend the lamb shank and steak. Egg plant was delicious and a variety of very tasty drinks. I would recommend this spot, but for a second time visit for me, this far in BK and poor management where it took almost 90 mins for our meal to be served...I'm likely not to go back. Worth the trip but only once
Personally I prefer the less formal Eyval out of the two with a more relaxed conforting atmosphere. The food here is still excellent, but tad high priced. The herb & noodle stew and Tahdig were my favorite. Saffron rise is a must, some of the entrees were not that memorable. The bathroom interior wall is full of movie posters. Did not feel service was up to the JBF hospitaloty nod.
Service was very helpful and accommodating thanks to Caitlin ! Backyard seating was great and space inside was pretty too. We were group of 3 and ordered a bunch of apps because my friends are vegetarian so missed out on the more popular meat dishes, but next time I guess. I would definitely recommend this place for drinks: « sekanjabin martini » was very refreshing and I liked the mint cucumber sharbat as well.
This was my second time visiting Sofreh and I have to say I had a very different experience than the first time. My first visit with my boyfriend a month ago was wonderful. Both the food and service was excellent. As a local who’s grown up in the neighborhood, I enjoy the convenience of having such a restaurant as well as the cafe that I frequently visit in my vicinity. I walked in this evening solo for a bite. While I was seated quickly, I felt pretty dismissed by the staff and the owner. I get that the restaurant is busy, but I was asked if my plate could be taken while still eating and for the entire 45 minutes (I was told I needed to finish my meal within a 45 min time frame) that I was seated, no one ever checked on me. There were two older women next to me at the bar who were seated the same time and the owner approached them both and asked if they needed anything and walked right past me not saying a word. She did not seem warm, welcoming or approachable even in the slightest. She did not greet me when I walked in, did not ask how my meal was, or if I needed anything. I’d also like to mention that out of possibly 50 customers in the restaurant I was the only black customer. Feeling dismissed within the hospitality space is not new to me or many within my community. I truly hope that the dismissive nature from some the staff and owner was not racially driven, but the fact that I finished my meal with this feeling is not acceptable. I have supported this business, specifically the cafe regularly for years now and have been proud of the success and notoriety it’s gained being woman owned in my neighborhood. The food is excellent, but the service this evening was truly upsetting and I shouldn’t feel uncomfortable, rushed or dismissed when paying premium for dinner anywhere. The quality of the food is just as important as the quality of the service. We all deserve a positive experience.
