Opiniones de Strange Delight Brooklyn
Genuinely enjoyed the food here and the staff made it exceptional. Made a reservation for 2 with my homegirl and waited a few minutes for the table ahead to clear. I fasted that day and the hostess was kind enough to offer me water and something to eat. Food was delicious. My mocktail was refreshing. The oysters were so fresh. I had 1 fishy oyster and it still went down fine. The free banana bread pudding in the end was the best way to end the meal!
Beautiful interiors, delicious food, great wine!!! The service is very attentive as well. The food was really great we especially loved the Mac n cheese and corn bread and fried green tomatoes.
My husband is from Louisiana so often, New Orleans inspired food outside of LA falls flat, but Strange Delight hit it out of the park. Every bite we ate was perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy and cooked to perfection. The scallop starter was one of the best things I’ve eaten in a while and the fry basket was executed perfectly with crispy, flavorful batter. We also had the chargrilled oysters, som tam and creole crumb crusted fish - all of which were spectacular. Will definitely be visiting again to try the rest of the menu!
This place is such a fabulous find for seafood lovers! We had the smoked trout dip, som tam salad w/shrimp, charbroiled oysters, crab dirty rice, and the creole crumb-crusted fish (porgy). Each dish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Pair that with excellent cocktails, attentive service, and surprise sweet little treat, and you have a spot that makes for a truly memorable night out!
We've been meaning to try this spot for ages and were finally able to snag a table. It was great! The food was fantastic, cocktails were lovely, and it's a beautiful place. We ordered the following: - Strange Delight Tower Service (smoked trout dip in particular was great) - Red Beans And Rice (there were other better things) - Chargrilled Oysters (fantastic) - Fried Chicken (some of the best I've had!) - Fries And Bearnaise (excellent) Would be interested in trying the shrimp loaf in the future; apparently it's their spin on a po boy.
Loved the open kitchen, and the food was amazing. Bold, delicious flavors. We ordered the small seafood tower, which was the perfect size for two, along with the charbroiled oysters and cured scallops. The bread pudding was amazing. Huge shoutout to the chefs, kitchen, and entire staff. Great service overall.
I visited for Sunday lunch. The food is definitely fresh, which we appreciated. However, both my partner and I found the dressing to be a bit too salty for our taste. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The atmosphere is also very pleasant, with lots of thoughtful décor and a well-designed space that’s worth visiting. Overall, it was a good experience. I’d just recommend communicating your preference about saltiness with the server when ordering.
I had the most delightful (hehe) solo dining experience at Strange Delight last night. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left, every single employee treated me with kindness, attention, and warmth. 10/10- no notes. The ambiance was elevated yet totally cozy, the noise level was just right, and the playlist was eclectic, diverse, and oh so good. On to the food - out of this world! My drink: Freaky French - gorgeous, citrus, crisp My app: Charbroiled oysters - flavorful, delectable, decadent. This was my favorite part of my meal. I wish I ordered 12 instead of 3! My main: Shrimp toast - very tasty, surprisingly light in a good way, vinegary, made even better with their hot sauce. Genuinely a solid sandwich that I really enjoyed. My dessert: BREAD PUDDING - so I actually don't even like bread pudding...at all..., but my goodness, this was delicious! Just the right amount of sweetness, delicious warming spices, and the best sauce to top it off. FWIW: I chose to sit at the backroom bar on the barstools, especially as a solo diner, and it was perfect. The whole place is nice, but I much preferred the back area because it was cozier and slightly quieter. I'll be back for sure and I can't wait! No photos, sorry - ate everything up REAL quick.
My partner and I love food that we havve had in NOLA so we are always looking for places that can get us close to NOLA flavors. The food at this place is amazing. We have the charboiled oysters, the catfish loaf and the bread (the bread was amazing perfectly warm). the bread pudding was also great. i love that all dishes are shareable. definitely hoping to go back again.
I invited a friend to Strange Delight delight under the guise of indulging in the seafood tower happy hour, while very well knowing we couldn’t leave without sampling more of the menu. The tower is perfect - you can essentially build your own tower. We had oysters which were smaller but packed with flavor, pimento dip that was punchy and savoury, and side salad which was well dressed, balanced, and layered with herbs. Then to our gateway: the charbroiled oysters - classic will always have my heart, but the spicy BBQ were something special- I’ve never had anything like it! Would be a great introduction to oysters for anyone nervous to try. And of course to soak up all that delicious sauce we had the house bread with seaweed butter - I don’t think I’ve had a more delicious bread&butter combo. Hush puppies were small and light and came with a delicious honey butter. Then to the BBQ shrimp and shrimp loaf. BBQ shrimp were large, plump, and delicious - a delicate balance of savoury with a hint of sweetness and bathing in sauce. If you think you don’t need some form of bread to help you finish off that sauce, you my friend are mistaken. And finally the shrimp loaf- giant, perfectly fried shrimp, delicately bound between cool and crisp veggie held together by the softest sandwich bread! It’s worth whatever hype you may have heard about it. Beyond the food, the staff and service were spectacular- front of house and kitchen staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive! Our server Jordan was excellent! The attention the detail was spectacular- glasses never neared empty, dishes were collected as they were emptied, and our counter was always wiped clean- Strange Delight is a gem of an experience, one you’ll want to revisit.
I came here for a group dinner with a prefix menu and it's one of the best dining experiences I've had in NYC. The seafood is fresh, impeccably prepared and seasoned to perfection. We had the seafood tower, hush puppies, charbroiled oysters, catfish nuggets, swordfish belly, Chinese broccoli salad, and sazerac milk bread pudding. Everything was delicious, but the shrimp remoulade and seasoned crackers from the seafood tower, catfish nuggets (and those fries!!), and swordfish belly were particular standouts. I'm already dreaming about the next time I can come for dinner and have recommended this spot to all my friends.
One of the most unique and building experiences ever. Want to be surprised and taken back to good times. This is the spot. Every dish felt like we reached the next level of magical flavor and that was us tasting the limited holiday menu. We sat in the front which was super fun, but we also missed out on the entries feem of the dining room in the back. Definitely need to return and try the rest. Thanks and shout out to the entire staff. You're all magical. 🙏💕
Strange Delight is absolutely crushing it in Brooklyn! This place has quickly become one of my go-to spots, and it’s easy to see why it’s making such waves in the chef scene. Chef Ham El Wayly has created something truly special here - the menu is thoughtful, creative, and executed flawlessly. every dish has been exceptional. The fried shrimp poboy is legitimately one of the best I’ve had in the city, with perfectly crispy coating and juicy meat. Chris behind the bar knows his stuff and makes fantastic recommendations based on what you’re eating. The cocktails are well-balanced and creative without being overly complicated. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance - casual enough that you feel comfortable, but with an attention to detail that shows this is serious food. Service is consistently great.
This place was a hit! I love Creole food, and Strange Delight’s elevated take on seafood checked all the boxes for me. I started with the smoked fish dip, which had great flavors married perfectly with fresh herbs on top and crackers that had a wonderful spice to them. But as good as that was, I was blown away by the swordfish belly. I’m not usually a fan of swordfish, but this was my first time trying swordfish belly, and it was amazing! Such a great texture with the meat having a slight sweetness that was balanced so nicely by the spice. A nice bread pudding finished off an outstanding meal. I’ll be back!
I’d been wanting to check out this place in the neighborhood for a long time and finally got a chance to go. This New Orlean style seafood gem is truly spectacular. The ambiance was incredible and our server was very knowledgeable and passionate. We sat on the chef’s counter and saw the busy kitchen. The cooking techniques were very unique and perfect for the seafood. The smoke coming out of the oven added an incredibly unique feeling to our experience. Feels like home cooking in a fancy restaurant. I’m a huge fan of oysters and their shallot vinaigrette sauce was the best of my all time. Ordered a special razor clam dish and I can really eat that all day everyday. Our shrimp sandwich set this place apart from any sandwich shops or restaurants. Also got a complimentary desert. Soooo good!
Met up here with some friends for a Friday evening dinner. Do not let the small, unassuming front fool you- the overall atmosphere inside Strange Delight is very inviting and cozy. The early 2000s background music is a surprisingly great/fun pairing too. Highly recommend the catfish sandwich, smoked fish dip (those saltines!!), and the fritters (that butter!!). Cocktails are inventive and fun. What a Strange Delight indeed. Will be back again!
Creole Style New Orleans Spot in Fort Greene If you’re craving authentic Creole flavors in the heart of Fort Greene, this New Orleans-inspired gem is a must-visit. From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. The char-broiled oysters were an absolute highlight—perfectly cooked, smoky, and full of flavor. A must-try for oyster lovers! The catfish loaf sandwich was equally impressive. The portion size was generous, the fish was seasoned to perfection, and the milk bread literally melted in your mouth. This dish gets an A+ for flavor and execution. Cocktails were well-crafted and paired beautifully with the meal, adding to the overall experience. Service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re in the area, make sure to stop by. This spot perfectly captures the soul of New Orleans cuisine!
Strange Delight absolutely lived up to its name. We ordered the seafood tower and every piece was spot-on. The oysters were cold, clean, and perfectly briny. The shrimp were crisp and plump, and the fish dip had a great little kick that made it addictive. Everything was fresh and balanced. Highly recommend this spot.
This place is fun and cute, and the staff were all great. The food was mostly tasty and creative, but around half the dishes were very salty. I love salt and it was still too much, the étouffée and fried oysters with fries in particular. Seafood tower also feels a little reliant on dips for the price, they could add another shrimp and oyster IMHO. But it was delicious, as was the Som Tam salad. They were probably just a bit heavy on the seasoning tonight, overall definitely worth a visit and I’d go back.
Beautiful decor, an open kitchen, a relaxed atmosphere, Strange Delight is a welcomed escape from the busy Brooklyn streets. A seafood restaurant with heavy New Orleans’ influence, this eatery definitely does seafood well. My favorite thing about this restaurant was the staff. Everyone was so friendly, accommodating, and genuinely seem to enjoy working there (which I don’t know I can say about a lot of other restaurants). Our waiter, Mike, took his time, walking us through the menu, giving us his advice and was just such an awesome and friendly guy. Food wise, I was not blown away, but I could definitely feel and taste the effort put into each dish. The standouts for me were the swordfish, the barbecue shrimp, and the caramel bread pudding. The swordfish was delicate and flaky, and tasted like butter. The barbecue shrimp was cooked in this most amazing sauce. Everything else was good, but nothing really stood out to me. This restaurant is very expensive, but it is a seafood restaurant. I just felt that there wasn’t anything extremely memorable about the food, it was more of the people and the vibe that I remember and enjoyed. I definitely recommend everyone and try this restaurant and form their own opinion!
Strange Delight was a bit of a mixed bag. I wanted to love it because the atmosphere was very warm and a friend recommended it. In the end, I liked it. However, the menu was fairly limited, and the dishes didn’t wow me enough for how small the menu was. That said, their standout dish was the swordfish belly. It was absolutely delicious, and its sauce was tasty. But it came with an unremarkable salad that left me scratching my head for such a delicious plate. We also had the bbq shrimp, which was okay. It felt like it was missing rice and a biscuit. Lastly, we had the catfish nuggets. It comes with fries and the fries were bomb. The batter on the catfish was perfect but the catfish itself fell a bit flat. Our drinks were great tho, and our server was on point. Again, it wasn’t a bad experience, but for the price points and smaller menu, I thought the dishes would hit more.
Just alright. Nothing was memorable from this meal EXCEPT the bread pudding which was absolutely delicious. The fried oysters (4/5), fries (3/5), grilled shrimp (3.5/5), the swordfish (3.5/5), and the charred oysters (4/5) we're all good, but not worth the price at all. The bread pudding (5/5) was great - they should just sell that. Staff was nice!
