Early this year I was having a bad day and decided to walk home in the cold rain. If you've been in Brooklyn when it's raining, you know this was a pretty crazy idea. Of course, I got hungry and found myself inside this cute little bakery. Instantly, the cashier gave me a big smile and we instantly connected. He was super friendly, but I noticed a little sitting in the back who seemed like she was quietly keeping an eye on everything. This turned out to be the owner. I honestly think I say and chatted with them both for about 30 minutes to an hour. They recommended the rum cake and my god...it is still one of my favorite things till this day. The cake itself is very juicy, but also has a good amount of alcohol without the taste. So be careful or you'd probably eat like 2 of theses. I just went back a few days ago and got some empanadas and another rum cake. Always on point. Plus, they gave me a sample of the banana pudding! The cream was excellent, just wish it had more of the waffle cookies cause I love the extra crunch. This place feels very much like a hidden gem. Plus it's minority owned, so had to support.

Kim, the owner is so nice and accommodating. We special ordered a vegan german chocolate cake and every guest said it was the best they'd ever had! Without knowing it was vegan even ;-) Have also tried cupcakes and rumcakes from this bakery and everything is amazing. They have a really nice outdoor seating area for the Summer as well. Thank you Kim! We'll see you in a few weeks for our next cake!

Went there today after brunch and it was perfect timing... the chocolate chip cookies were fresh out of the oven!! I've never had a cookie as delicious as that one! Plus they served it with a tall glass of cold milk 😋 I was in heaven. Plus the service was SUPERB. Walked out with an another chocolate chip cookie, 2 chocolate covered oreos and a cupcake. Went here from the Tik Tok by Keith Lee and rolled up around 10:30am which is sorta early for bakeries! Door was locked due to the staff prepping and the owner came out to let me in and she was so so nice and happy! She explained why the door was locked (love this) and showed me what she had for this time of morning and I asked her to choose the cupcakes for me aside from the Henny cupcakes I have to share with a friend of mine:-) So far the cupcakes I have had are so tasty and fresh. The customer service is unmatched!!! I’ve definitely went into bakeries in the same area and have felt as if I were bothering the staff so please go here for their tasty treats and friendly faces ❤️

The cookies are out of this world!!! I had the Chocolate Sablé, Oatmeal Cranberry Coconut and Brooklyn Cowgirl Cookies. Loved every bite. The owner is cool and the vibe in the bakery is dope, a comfortable place if you want to watch daily life at the window or enjoy your goodies on the bench out front. Will most definitely be returning.

I love this place so much. They had biscoff vanilla, funfetti, and chocolate cupcakes that were so good and then black sesame fig and ube cupcakes I didn’t get to try. I will be getting every birthday cake here from now on.

I give this Bakery a five star rating for three reasons. The first reason is because of the beautiful personality the owner of this place .any time of the day I or my friends walk into this establishment we get smiles. The second star would go to how neat and clean the bakery is kept. And the last star the food is absolutely wonderful I had a snickerdoodle cookie never had it ever a day of my life before .I'm glad I had it here with a nice hot cup of coffee that I walked in with it did the trick. I strongly suggest you ask for snickerdoodle cookies and a chocolate cupcake or was it double chocolate I forget but I'm going to safely say a double chocolate slice of cake. You'll thank me later

Mmmm Yum! The Hennessy Vanilla cupcake I had with an espresso was so enjoyable. My friend and I sat in intimate and communal the covered partitioned off street seating. The shop and owner are warm and welcoming. There are intricately decorated chocolate covered Oreos on the counter, mini cupcakes in the window and many flavors of cupcakes against the wall and there where signs for ordering larger cakes as well.

I recommend the rum cake. It is soo delicious!! Awesome taste!! Customer service is excellent too!!

BOOZY BITES!!! Why would anyone eat anything else here... THEY have had the red velvet, vanilla, and chocolate... I carried these minis home to NC in a cooler to share with my family. Everything looks good- cupcakes, etc... but this is NYC. And you will not find a better place to eat it!!! YUM! We went first thing after the noontime rush and there was no line either way it's worth the wait.

Went to the BAKERY on Bergen after reading about Akim's story on Instagram. We ordered empanadas (which were warmed up for us in the air fryer, we were offered a side of sriracha with it which we gladly accepted), blueberry cupcake, cowgirl cookie, and the pink lemonade. Everything was delicious, especially the empanadas and cookie. The empanadas were flaky and seasoned so well. The cookie hit the sweet/savory spot. We're so excited to go back for more empanadas and to try out more of the sweets. Customer service was also amazing, we were offered samples of some of the cookies before we decided what to order.

Wow, WOw, and WOW again. From the minute I went in, I saw the fabulous Kim. What a blessing she is and so pleasant. I had a strawberry cupcake which I am still tasting. The whipped cream on top was so light and the cupcake not overpowering with sugar. I am definitely recommending this Bakery and will be purchasing on a larger scale. This has got to be my favorite bakery in Brooklyn. It isn’t just that the baked goods are delicious and beautifully crafted— because boy are they. But the Bakery on Bergen is a special community space that brings people together and includes all, from their community events and classes to the very ingredients they use. My friends and I have purchased 3 birthday orders from the Bakery on Bergen within the last few years, and this year was the most special by far. When I asked if it would be possible to order something gluten free, vegan, nut free, and egg free, the owner, Akim responded “absolutely!” My birthday cake could not have been tastier, but I was mostly blown away by how without hesitation Akim took on the project of making something equally delicious for my friend who has more than a few allergies. I recommend this bakery to all people, because there really is something for everyone. The Bakery on Bergen is also a woman owned, Black owned, Asian owned business! Support women and support your neighborhood bakery. It never disappoints!

My partner and I ordered a cake sampler of 5 mini cakes to celebrate our anniversary. Kim was so kind and professional over email, and she made setting up our order and delivery a breeze. We tried the following flavors: Brooklyn Blackout, Mexican Hot Chocolate, Hennessy Red Velvet, Mandarin Orange, and Chai Latte. They were all exceptional, but the standout was their slightly-spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate cake. We loved how you could taste the real butter in the icing and how none of the flavors were overly sweet. We will definitely be coming back here next time we need a cake for an event!

I love the vibe of this spot. We totally went in because of the sign that said, "Come in for some Asian black girl magic!" Lol! We had the signature chocolate chip cookie with smoked salt and another cookie that was a chocolate chip cookie that had pretzels and potato chips in it. We got the rum cake with the sauce on the side because my boyfriend doesn't drink and that was a good call because there's a lot of rum in that sauce. Cute bakery they sell cookies cupcakes gluten free brownies homemade lemonade tea coffee and vegan German chocolate cake. If you have a sweet tooth definitely need to visit them.

The Gluten Free Options could be better. The presentation is beautiful, however the taste and texture of their gluten free cupcakes need improvement! My friend ordered cupcakes that were NOT gluten free and she said they were pretty good. 3 stars...

Recently, I visited Brooklyn,NY, to see the Jay-Z exhibit, and while in the city, I decided to visit businesses Keith Lee approved. Before heading to the airport I decided to visit the bakery to take some cookies back to Atlanta, GA. I was greeted by the store manager Louis who was very friendly while Akim was working with another customer. She smiled and said hello. Louis proceeded to show me the cookies they had available as he had to bake some more. I purchased three cookies (2) chocolate chip with sea salt and (1) Asian Sweet potato cookie. I was disappointed as they did not look like the cookies Keith Lee purchased and described. The cookies he purchased were crispy on the edges and chewy in the center. I purchased what I describe as cake cookies thick and dense.

Read a review on my neighborhood brief that this was the go-to spot for bagels, and like the foodie that I am; I gave the Bakery on Bergen a shot of my patronage. I stopped by on 12/12, in the mid-afternoon. The 🥯 's were not what I would write home about and that was okay with me. What was not acceptable was the lackluster service that was administered. The two women servers were dead-pan boring and not engaging pleasantly with the two customers waiting to be served. I get it that times can be tough, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Nonetheless, a little smile, and kindness can go a long way. Just as when they applied for employment, they hoped and prayed to be hired. That same level of hope and hype is helpful for sustainable development and growth. Not to mention that like iced coffee, Bagels spots 😋 are not scarce. Like the song by the late, great Wilson Pickett "Try a Little Tenderness". Thank you.

I visited the bakery on Bergen yesterday and thought I had a good experience only to find a roach inside one the cupcakes sups disappointed and disgusted #nevereathere

Everything is high priced. The cookies I can understand, bcuz they r big. But the cupcakes r not worth the price for the size they r. And then $65 for a pie?! That's just crazy.

Taste awful for $5.49! And the owner was not very nice.

I was so excited to visit this black own neighborhood bakery. I waited in line as the owner took orders .Once I let her know that I was picking up a Too Good to Go order the owner immediately became annoyed and rude. I was appalled and taken aback since she was so warm and friendly to the customer in front of me. I felt very uncomfortable and the owner, Akim Vann gave off a vibe that I didn't belong in her establishment. I'm not sure if I caught her on a bad day or she was projecting her dissatisfaction with her Too Good to Go partnership on me but none the less her behavior was unwarranted. The owner really needs to work on her customer service skills. I also read some similar experiences customers had interacting with her on Yelp which I wish I read before I visited the establishment. I will never patronize Bakery on Bergen again. Too Good to Go app lovers BEWARE. Your discounted cookies comes with a side of attitude and aggression. Totally not worth it!

I popped in here for a sweet treat on my way home and all I can say is the owner is RUDE & distatesful . As a native New Yorker, it's disappointing to see a business that prides itself of being "black owned" have such poor customer service and treatment towards its black customers. She's a very hostile woman, who can't answer simple questions about her baked goods, without being rude or condescending. I will be sure not to spend money here again and you shouldn't either — disregard any generic PR response to this message.

Some of the driest, overly bland and just bad baked goods I’ve eaten. The people working are rude as ever (probably because of how I look) and the place smells like spoiled milk. Eating from the trash would be a better choice.

Went to pick up an order during the businesses operating hours and within my designated time slot and the store was closed. Tried calling multiple times while I was out front but no answer. Having to follow up with app customer service to try and resolve.

The cupcakes had very little flavor and were too oily. Don’t let the ratings fool you. Worst cupcake I’ve had in a long time and were 5 dollars each.

I went to my girlfriend’s 70th birthday party on 2/16. I had three different occasions to have cake from this establishment. Last night was the worst. The cake was so dry it was not even eatable. I have no idea what happened. But I will never buy anything from the bakery again.

I ordered a birthday cake for my 70th celebration. I was so disappointed. The cake was dry and had no taste. None of my guests ate the cake. Everyone complained and I felt so bad. I had the vanilla cake with the strawberry filling. Horrible
