It was my first time there, but it won't be my last. We were a group of 13, the team were so great ahead of the day and so welcoming and accommodating during our visit, plus the food was incredible. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
The food is fantastic! Everything was delicious and really good portion size. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend.
We had an absolutely fantastic meal! The service and food were amazing. Special mention to Steph and James who helped us with our booking beforehand and to our waiter Remy who was fabulous! We would highly recommend visiting Provenance Kitchen 😊
Fabulous place. The Sunday lunches are superb. Airy place - lovely open wood fire kitchen, bustling atmosphere. Good local beer, small well chosen wine list and compact menu full of tempting dishes. Sunday lunch is great value - I had sirloin of beef - pink, juicy, plentiful with a subtle smokiness. Great potatoes and Yorkshire and awesome tray full of colourful roast vegetables all perfectly cooked. Rich hot gravy. Awesome - great attention to detail and hugely comforting. Evening meals have been great too especially the whole fish. Friendly welcoming service too!
The food was absolutely delicious. Well presented and so tasty. I usually prefer simple dishes, with not too many flavours at once, but I really enjoyed my meal here. The combination of ingredients worked very well, without being too invasive. If I have to find a fault, there was maybe too much condiment (oil) and it was a bit chilly in the room.
Provenance is always a great experience. They cook most of the food on a wood fire grill, which can be seen from the restaurant and creates a great atmosphere. Food was very tasty and service attentive, despite a full restaurant. It's a bit of a trek to get there, but definitely worth it!
You could easily miss this lovely eating spot, but it was well worth the journey! We were seated in view of the kitchen and huge wood fire in the kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious! Steaks and fish grilled perfectly on the fire and it was so flavoursome. There were plenty of vegetables served on a sharing platter. Great value for such great food. Can’t wait to be come back for a second helping!
Fabulous Sunday lunch with my family. The staff, the ambiance and the food was all perfect!! The 4 of us couldn’t fault a thing. The roast pork was the best I had ever tasted, it simply melted in the mouth. It was also a treat to see the open kitchen and the chefs cooking over a fire. I would highly recommend stopping for a bite at this lovely restaurant.
Went with office party for like 80 people. It was so delicious and staff friendly. The roasted beetroots were incredible. And the panacota OMG. I need to come back and bring the family!
We hosted our joint 50th birthday party at the Orchard Barn and what a fantastic event space it is. Such an incredible atmosphere with a variety of beautiful spaces and plenty of shelter from both sun and rain. Steph coordinated a brilliant day for us - managing the majority of the load and meaning we had very little to do in the lead up to and on the day. The whole events team was wonderful and all of our guests said how friendly and helpful they were. The food was divine and everyone commented on what a great selection was on offer and how delicious everything was. We really couldn’t have asked for more.
Popped in after visiting the IWM and what a terrific little find this was. Food was beautiful, competitively priced, and portions were great. Would like to see some dietary symbols on the menu but staff are equipped to help if need be. Would happily return and recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Had a team lunch at the Provenance. There's enough space to merge tables and accommodate a relatively large group ( ours was a group of 12 persons) It took a while about 45mins for the food to get ready and this was considering the fact that we pre-booked and made our orders before arriving. I had the Lamb kofta, and the non-alcoholic mojito. The mojito was nice, but not so much the lamb kofta. I thought I was getting more than a single piece of sausage looking lamb. Not sure how you can get there without driving. There's plenty of free parking here and the toilet facilities look well kept!
What a find! En route up north, found this place as a recommendation in a guide. Great atmosphere, refreshing to find a restaurant that has space, rather than cramming in as many covers as possible. Food was top class. We picked at some warm sourdough with wood-smoked butter whilst waiting for our dishes. I had the lamb which was perfectly cooked, and a generous portion. My wife had sardines which she loved, and my son had the steak which again, was perfectly cooked, and a generous size. The garlic & parsley fries were excellent, but star of the show was the tenderstem with peanut salsa: unusual, inspired and delicious. The desserts were impressive too, fantastic homemade ice cream, and sorbet, and my son's chocolate mousse disappeared in seconds! Really friendly relaxed atmosphere and service. Will definitely return next time we're in the area. Highly recommended.
The food was delightful. I chose the flat iron steak, and it was perfectly juicy and just the right portion for me. The service was very good. Since all the dishes were chargrilled, it might take a bit of time to be served, but that didn't bother me as I wasn't very hungry. However, keep in mind if you have a big appetite. The only downside was that we couldn't use our birthday cake even though we ordered desserts, but they did bring a candle on one of the desserts as a nice gesture.
Where can we begin?! We decided to get married very last minute and after a working lunch at Provenance and a few spontaneous ideas - it was decided, this was our venue. We worked with Steph, who was absolutely incredible at helping our vision come to life. Food was the priority for us, and we knew that Provenance would deliver. We got married in June, and it was lovely to have both inside and outside options available to us. We decided to marry outside under the stretch tent. Once we had agreed our date, we were invited to a tasting to try out the sample menu. This was an incredible opportunity to experience the food and wine, and it was so delicious! Also, gave me an opportunity to try things I might never have selected (and ended up choosing instead)! For the day, everything was set up for us, including the table layout (name places set), flowers (arranged by florist), drinks waiting for after the reception and background music (along with aisle song) all arranged for us. We had the tent arranged for our guests in benches, and a floral arrangements at the end for decoration, this worked really well. We stuck outside (lucky with the weather) for post wedding drinks, and this made a great background for photos afterwards. There was also the little cocktail truck there for pre drinks for early guests or those wanting something else to drink. This is where the canapes came out and was one of the highlights for us. Seeing the guests delight over the size and quality of these was so lovely. We were weirdly excited about watching everyone's face to see their reaction! After this, we moved into the main restaurant (by the kitchen), where we had 3 long tables decorated with flowers and candles. There we had our 3 courses of absolutely incredible food. We had speeches in this area (while the band set up), we then moved to the next section for dancing. They opened up the doors across the restaurant so people we inside and outside and it was such a lovely open atmosphere. Whilst we were dancing, the chefs started on the flatbreads for the evening food, which turned out to be the talking point to this day. Often I will still get messages from friends like "do you remember the flatbreads at your wedding?!". Such a huge hit. I think people were just surprised by the entire selection of food being so high quality, tasty and ideal portion sizes (rather than generic small portioned wedding venue food). We left the venue around 11-12pm after the most fantastic day. We couldn't recommend Provenance enough for your special day and a huge thank you from us, Mr & Mrs Witt. You made our day perfect. THANK YOU! Can't wait to return for some Christmas celebrations! Xxx
What can we say about Provenance? Somehow Provenance made us feel as though our wedding day was as important for them as it was for us. The events organiser Steph made everything so easy, with genuine care and attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble and communication between us and them in the lead up to our day was exemplary. The food was freshly cooked on wood, this was not a production line. It seems like magic, how they prepared genuinely amazing food, outside for 100+ people. It was presented beautifully too. We have both worked in the events sector and know how hard it is to get consistency when catering for large numbers, Provenance absolutely nailed it. We booked Provenance to host our wedding as we knew the restaurant pre our engagement and loved the food. They put as much love and precision into events in the Orchard Barn area as they do into their main restaurant operation. Best day of our lives, thank you so much.
This was our third time eating at Provenance and every time is as delicious as the last. I had the whole sea bream which was cooked over the coals and was delicious; crispy skin, roasted tomatoes & capers to finish. Yum! The staff are friendly, the service is great (not too much nor left alone for long) and the food is fantastic. Nice selection of locals beers and juices as well as wines. Will definitely be going back.
We are lucky enough to have this restaurant on our doorstep and would eat here every day of we could! Food is lovingly cooked over a wood fire and everything is prepared in house, including the incredible desserts. Lovely service, local beers and juices and a great wine selection. A welcome change from the chain food and "gastropub" rubbish!
My partner and I had an amazing lunch experience that left us in awe because of how tremendous the food was! We were so impressed that we ended up booking the same restaurant for our wedding! Throughout the process of planning the wedding, I was in contact with Zanna and Steph who were incredible. They provided excellent email correspondence and helped us set up for the big day. I would also like to mention that the team who looked after our party was impeccable. They really took care of us (the bride and groom) as well as our guests! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the meal on our wedding day, but all of our guests had the same reaction as we did about the delicious food! I have attached some photos of the lunch we had before booking the restaurant for our wedding.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Menu was interesting and the quality of cooking tells you that the kitchen staff care about the food they're putting out. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes for the roast were well worth the money, compared to other places where you're served paper-thin cuts of meat. Will definitely be going again! 👍 Been again in April 2022 and Provenance continues to impress! Service was rapid and I felt well looked-after. The food here is truly special and I've thought about it a lot in retrospect. Really love the atypical ingredients like octopus, fennel, wild garlic, Swiss chard and pig head which were all exciting new flavours despite not being the first time I had had them. The quality of the cooking says it all about the dedication of the staff. Will be continuing to take my most favourite people here 😁
Exquisite Sunday lunch. We had the roasts and both were faultless and generous. The meat (we had lamb and pork) were both cooked excellent with the lamb pink and the pork crackling rendered beautifully. They give you a sprawling platter of potatoes and veg (extensive variety but some a little under) to accompany alongside a jug of extra gravy. Exactly what you want. We also ordered an additional cauliflower cheese and it was something to behold - an entire cauliflower smothered in cheese sauce and breadcrumbs. Delicious. 9/10. We finished with dessert and I had their lemon tart, which is my favourite, and it was one of the best varieties I’ve ever tasted; tangy citrous alongside blackberries, blackberry sorbet and a crunch of sweet meringue and pastry. 10/10. Overall, exceptional food and a memorable visit. We are already organising a return.
Amazing restaurant and patio. The staff are so welcoming and friendly, especially Josh who made our day! The food is amazing and we loved the garden to sit out with our drinks. Such an amazing venue in cambridge, not to be missed!
Great food and service. Would highly recommend the Ribeye with bone marrow.
Had a lovely meal here this lunch time with my wife on her birthday. The service was great as was the food. I highly recommend. The restaurant was busy but not full, but the atmosphere had a nice feeling.
Dining Club Meal-Friday 15 March 2024 We( Mother, Father, Daughter, and my sister and myself)all arrived at the Restaurant together, when we arrived, we were all seated at our reserved table, the father, mother, and daughter were the hosts, and my sister and myself were the guests, we ordered our drinks, two bottles of Diet Coke for the mother and daughter, a bottle of Apple and Raspberry Fruit Juice for myself from the Cambridge Juice Company, a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine for my sister and a glass of White Wine for the father, after that we ordered our Starters, some Grain Culture Sourdough Bread with smoked Butter for the father, two plates of Brown Shrimp Bucatini, with tomato, lemon, dill, fried capers, and dried chilli, the mother had Chargrilled Butternut Squash with whipped riccota, chilli and garlic crunch, and the daughter skipped her starter, for the Mains, my sister and myself had Chargrilled Whole Sea Bream (Head On) with Bagna cauda, shaved fennel, and charred lemon with fries, the mother and the daughter had different cuts of the Chargrilled aged Hereford Steak, the daughter had the Flat Iron Cut, and the father had the Sirloin Cut, and the father had the house made duck ham with pickled walnut, parsnip crisps and beetroots. For Dessert the father had a selection of Cheeses, my sister and myself had two Sticky Toffee Puddings with vanilla Ice-Cream, the mother had two scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and the daughter had a pot of Green Tea, we enjoyed our meal very much and we thanked the waitress who served us and the waiter, who served us our drinks as well, for our first visit there, it was very good and we will go there again, recommended.
Excellent flavours and lovely setting/ atmosphere. Made it very easy with a dairy free diet. We will recommend. Thank you for having us.
Best quality food I had in Cambridge area so far! The place is cosy and beautiful. The fire place is open and you can see how your food is prepared. Tasty food and seasonal, what makes it even more special!
Excellent food, good quality and fresh ingredients. The slow cooked leek was particularly delicious, as well as the lemon tart. Only downside is that it’s a bit noisy but not much can be done about that.
First visit - warm, informative welcome from Rebecca that made all the difference; modern cool décor; and, most importantly, I wanted every dish on the menu! The smoked trout and the chicken kebab we ordered were delicious. Great coffee too …..
Incredible! Worth every penny. Excellent Sunday roast! Epic cheese board of outstanding never seen before proportion.. if I didn’t love cheese this much I would advise them to give smaller portions ;) wicked place worth making a detour for!
Very tasty roast, excellent veg selection. Cauliflower cheese was light and great not stodgy.
We had our wedding at Provenance, and honestly we couldn’t have been happier. From start to finish, everything was brilliant. Steph, the events manager, was amazing – so organised, super friendly and always there to make sure everything went smoothly. She really took the stress out of planning and on the day she made sure everything was perfect, so we could just relax and enjoy it. The food was out of this world. We got to do a food and wine tasting beforehand, which was such a fun part of the build-up. We gave the chefs a few ideas of what we liked, and they went away and designed a menu completely unique to us. On the day, the dishes looked stunning and tasted even better – loads of our guests said it was the best meal they’d ever had at a wedding, which made us so proud. The staff on the day were also brilliant – really friendly and attentive, without ever being over the top. Everything felt relaxed but ran so smoothly. We couldn’t recommend Provenance enough – amazing food, amazing team, and the most unforgettable wedding day.
Visited on Saturday Excellent food and service One member of our party had a cold so couldn't attend the meal, after asking the staff they boxed up and wrapped a pudding "to go" for her Lovely place. Would thoroughly recommend
What a lovely find. Stopped for a quick lunch, and was warmly received even without a reservation. My rabbit ragu was delicious! Next time I’m passing this way I’ll have to build in a longer stop to enjoy the full experience!
We dined here on two occasions in one weekend, both experiences 5*! My husband and I had dinner on a Friday evening, we had the olives and padron peppers to start and the rib eye and duck main with garlic and parsley fries. The food was very good, a nice selection of non alcoholic beverages as well. We really loved the plum and cherry posh pops. Our server was friendly and attentive (tall guy, dark hair and glasses - sorry we forgot your name). The second occasion was a family Sunday roast, the chicken and beef roasts were beautifully cooked and a generous portion of veggies and roasties. Dessert also very nice. Service, again, brilliant, didn’t catch their names, but 3 lovely ladies taking care of us under the big sail tent. Thanks again, we really enjoyed it!
Outstanding food and plenty of it. We seated outside on a very pleasant afternoon and the service was excellent. Despite being late in the day the majority of the menu was available. The food arrived promptly but we were not hurried. Will absolutely visit again during the week to try the alla cart menu.
Great place with outstanding food well worth the drive from Cambridge. The Sunday roast was delicious and the cauliflower was delicious excellent. Tip: the tent, while beautiful, is full of kids and barking dogs. There is outdoor seating in the restaurant that would likely be the better choice.
A lovely experience from start to finish. Lovely staff who weren’t panicked, calmly going about their roles. Food was lovely and a nice selection of greens and seasonal vegetables - a lovely add on instead of the usual carrot, parsnip and kale combo. The food was a little too over seasoned and the roast potatoes too salty; the inside of the potato needed to be fluffier.
I had a fantastic experience at the Provenance Kitchen Brix and Mortar restaurant. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting and warm. I started with the steak tartare, which was delightful—far better than some I’ve had recently. It was served with an oyster mayo which paired amazingly. For my main course, I enjoyed the pork chop, which was perfectly cooked and served with a harissa sauce, fresh herb paste, and a roasted herbs to garnish. I highly recommend getting a side of chips with it if you have a hearty appetite like mine. To finish, I had the berry tart, which was absolutely delicious. Both my brother and I loved it, and I’d definitely recommend it. Overall, I would certainly recommend Provenance Kitchen to friends and will likely return myself.
Came for lunch and the service was great. Helpful and friendly staff with some interesting lunch options. Although it was slightly on the pricier end for a mid road trip stop.
Went here with friends for Sunday lunch and we very much enjoyed it. There was a huge veggie tray to share among eight of us and it was very tasty. I had the roast pork and my husband had the roast lamb which were both good but could have been better. Lamb was a bit dry and the pork didn’t have crackling as promised by the waiter but it was still very good and we would definitely go back to try the other options.
A real mixed bag. Our server asked to take our order while we were still getting my son buckled into his high chair, then when asked to return in 2 minutes completely disappeared. Any attempt to signal to other servers that we were now ready went unnoticed, as each seemed blinkered to serving their respective tables, making no effort to glance around the room. After 10 minutes I went to the front desk and asked if we could order and was told bluntly to "go back to your seat, it's table service". Well, it hadn't been so far! We ordered, and it turned out I'd chosen a starter (the burrata) for my main (the menu makes no differentiation, confusingly) but no problem—they could bring everything at the same time. The lunch menu seemed more focused on intricate vegetarian fare rather than the wood-fired proteins I'd expected, and the only real hint of fire (aside from the smell in the car park) was the smoked butter served with the bread. Any restaurant catering for kids knows to bring their food out first, yet my wife and I got our food 5 minutes ahead of our children—which meant our two hungry kids ate half of ours before theirs arrived. Thankfully this meant I got to try some of my daughter's adult-portioned fire-grilled chicken, fries and greens from the kids' menu, which was very tasty (if not particularly chargrilled). Inexplicably, any chicken option was missing from the adults' lunch menu. The burrata, pictured, was thankfully very good indeed (and should have been for the price), while my wife's miso aubergine was severely lacking in miso. Any attempt to catch our server's attention to ask for some tap water was again avoided, and not once were we asked how our meal was—not even when confronted with the bill +12.5% 'optional' service charge. The whole experience felt like a restaurant believing itself to be better than it is.
Really disapointed. Booked for valentines day so I expected it to be busy, what I did not bargain for was restaurant chain quality with arrogant pricing on ratio. The building is almost featureless. It was a factory canteen and despite the makeover it is still in the spirit of a canteen. We were asked for our drinks order, then asked if we were ready to order the meal. Perhaps I am being picky, but that felt pushed. Our order was placed and there really was no need to push the orders as there was a wait for an hour from seated to food service. While waiting we observed the chef plate the steaks with his hands. The hour wait also emphasised that the room was colder than I prefered which was actually unpleasant towards the end. The food was not bad, it was just not worthy of the price plus self appointed service charge. Its always embarrasing to request a "discretionary" service charge, but I would have felt awful tipping for this if I let it slide.
