Opiniones de Unico Tokyo Pasta Carson
We went here on a Friday night during the off season, so we were able to walk in and get a table. The food here is really good quality. We took advantage of the LA Restaurant Week menu and got a salad, garlic bread and a pasta. The salad is a Caesar, and it's pretty creamy, cracks of pepper and overall a good portion before going into the next item. The garlic bread was so strong with the garlic in a good way, especially if you love garlic. If you don't love strong garlic flavor, I would not recommend to those individuals. The bread was toasted and crisp but soft and chewy - not something that hurts the mouth. The pastas were a great portion size and my husband and I ate half our plates and switched to eat the rest of each other's order because it was excellent. The Yuzu Pasta was light, refreshing, and the pancetta gave that bit of salt and umami to the dish. The Curry Bolognese was great. The Japanese Curry flavor was not overpowering but just a flavor profile woven into the texture of the sauce mixed in with Wagyu beef and pancetta to create more depth of flavor. Soooo good! I highly recommend the beer because it is light and crisp, great to accompany carbs. The matcha latte was a treat to myself and was a good call - it was not sweet and I truly got to enjoy the flavor of the matcha. I also loved the vibes of the restaurant. The way it was decorated reminded me of the local Italian food restaurant and the lighting was great for a date night. Recommend this place!
Surprisingly aldente Noodle was good. All American Italian cook too much and this place was very good at it. Still too salty but that's what you get in United States. I want Italian food to be not too salty but I guess that's how it should be here. Tasteful pasta was good enough. Garlic bread was not so salty and enough garlic. Salad was good. Macha latte was bomb, they use real Macha I think. Servers, I do have a problem. Not good at serving people. It would be ok if this place was in Italy but then if you act like Italian server, there should be no Tips. But this is not a Michelin star restaurant and I don't want talk about service but only food. I would take my guest here but not Italian friend. Overall food? Good !
Place was a hidden gem! I mean hidden loosely since I have driven by for years and finally stopped in for dinner with our 3yo. The food was amazing and they had a great option for the little one as well! Great atmosphere and dining setup with good noise and liveliness.
A delicious and unique dining experience! I love both Italian and Japanese food so this fusion restaurant was right up my alley. The white peach margarita was enough for me to come back! It took me a long time to order because everything sounded so good! We ordered the curry bolognese and the uni truffle pasta- both went beyond our expectations! Can’t wait to try more dishes in the future!
We went on a Thursday night around 7:45pm. We waited around 10 mins so it was not bad. We ordered garlic bread, uni yasai and curry bolognese. I thought the garlic bread is little pricy but they tasted good. Uni yasai is made with creamy uni sauce, the uni sauce was very tasty. I already wanted some more before i finished my dish. The curry in Curry bolognese was not overpowering. Both pasta dishes were delicious. We will definitely come back soon.
Hopped over to Unico for a casual meal by myself. Got a booth at the high seats. Service was great and everyone was pretty welcoming. I ordered a Curry Bolognese with a Yuzu Honey Lemon Drop and both came out pretty quick. No time wasted and was able to grub out shortly after I was seated. Overall, cool concept mixing up Japanese flavors with pasta. I liked the design of the signage, menu, and restaurant. The place looks good and the food tastes great. Unico will definitely be a new regular spot for me down in Redondo.
Let’s start by saying that I have been eyeballing this restaurant for quite some time and have been looking forward to eating here. I am happy that I did! The restaurant is in such a great location. I enjoyed the overall experience, the service was excellent, the food was prepared incredibly fast, the drinks were excellent for the weather. I ordered the White Peach Beach and Lime Lychee. Definitely prefer the Like Lychee, they’re not overly sweet. Refreshing for a hot day for sure. I ordered Burrata Caprese for the table with Garlic Bread. The 2 paired beautifully, which should be considered 1 dish, but hey I just for the experience. The Caprese was delicious and balanced. The Curry Bolognese was such an odd combination yet delightful. At first bite I wasn’t sure how I felt, it wasn’t until the 2nd and 3rd bite that I fell in love with the dish. The overall ambiance was relaxing and inviting. The staff is friendly and engaging. I will definitely be returning to explore the menu.
Unico opened up recently in Redondo beach and we were very satisfied with our first visit. It definitely won’t be our last visit Beautiful place, love the atmosphere. We came on a Friday night and there was plenty of staff, All well trained and very friendly. Parking can be difficult with the small lot but that’s to be expected in the redondo beach area. For food, we tried the garlic bread, yasai uni cream, and curry bolognese. Both pasta dishes had good portions Garlic bread is nice to have with soup or your pasta. Lots of garlic, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. It pairs well with the uni cream pasta, I loved using the bread to absorb the cream sauce. Yasai uni cream is delicious. Portions are very generous. With how rich and creamy it is, I can’t finish a dish by myself. I do wish there was some actual uni in the dish though and not just in the cream Curry bolognese was delicious. Excellent take on a bolognese. Has the essence of a bolognese sauce with the curry flavor. Not too spicy and plenty of flavor. Add in some pepper flakes and it’s perfect. Oh the pasta in both dishes were cooked al dente and perfect. One complaint, I wish when we ordered hot tea, it wasn’t just a cup of hot water with a tea bag thrown in. Maybe serve “house” tea made in the back so the presentation is better?

Second time visiting, got the Napolitan pasta and it was delicious! Incredible flavor and our server Dennis recommended adding Tabasco and it was the perfect addition. Love the variety of sauces and this trip made me excited to come back and try more!

Amazing pasta!! Ordered the curry bolognese, and it did not disappoint. Parking is easy with a lot right next to the restaurant as well street parking. Our server Dennis was great and very helpful and provided prompt service. Restaurant is very clean.
Very fun place, came here for a birthday dinner with a friend, service was great, food came out in proper timing We did do the DineLA menu, which was a fantastic spread, where we got to have a taste test of a good portion of the menu. Cauliflower soup is a must with a side of garlic bread to dip in it!!! It was crispy and it was creamy :) Pasta was a good al dente, just enough of a chew without feeling like the inside was raw. Will definitely comeback :3
Wish I had pictures but I don’t because we devoured everything — but the special mussels, garlic bread, curry bolognese, spicy vodka, and yuzu pasta were so excellent. Fun vibe inside with ample seating. Dennis took great care of us!! Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing! I had the Unico bolognese and it was incredible! The sauce was so tasty and I just wanted more. Fantastic and loved it! Highly recommended! Oh, amazing music choices as well. Definitely coming back.

Unico Tokyo Pasta is a nice spot for a date night or a casual hangout with friends. The vibe and decoration are modern and relaxed, so it’s a comfortable place to sit and enjoy dinner. The pasta dishes are decent and taste good, but nothing really stands out as memorable. The staff is super friendly and gives good recommendations, but overall this is the type of place you try once and probably won’t think about going back again. The pasta prices are on the higher side, and the portions are just standard. Quick tips: You can make reservations through Google Maps, but the restaurant usually isn’t very packed at night. There’s plenty of parking shared with the pizza place and nearby shops behind the restaurant, plus street parking.
Was really excited to try this! I liked the drinks, especially the White Peach Margarita was tasty and easy to drink. I liked the hardness of the pasta. Only thing is that the Garlic Chicken was bland. I thought there will be more punch of garlic but there was no hint of garlic I could taste. My friend got the Uni Truffle and that had more flavor. Service was super great and attentative. I gave the food a 3 because it is on the pricier side. Would have gave a 5 if my Garlic Chicken had more flavor. Or maybe have condiments to add the flavor would have been great. Overall great atmosphere, drinks, and service.
Ordered take out. The food was pretty good, but the soup wasn't even half full... It's like someone drank most of it before packing it in the bag. Pasta was tasty and al dente. Lacked sauce though. They could give me a bit more parmesan on the side. Only got a little bit. Plenty of parking in the back and not much people there when I went there almost at 2 PM. Would come back to try other pasta.
We came here for the DineLA experience and it was definitely a solid choice. We had to deduct a star because they had run out of Cauliflower Soup as the appetizer, the Unico Salad Panko wasn't as warm and crispy as we would have expected and the Garlic Bread was just average. The Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Shisolico were delicious but someone in our party thought hat instead of fusion, we had basically ordered two italian dishes with hardly any "Japanese" in the food. We will come back here and try one of the other dishes and will update this review.

I really wanted to like this place given its attempt to take on a Japanese and Italian pasta fusion. Everything tasted fine, but it was very standard. There wasn't a dish that stood out. I was most excited for the uni truffle pasta. However, aside from being able to taste the ocean saltiness and some artificial fragrance of truffle, there was just something missing. The noodle itself was the most disappointing. Tasted like grocery store bought ones such as Barilla. I didn't expect them to be homemade, but they could've sourced it better. The price is average. I will say the only redeeming qualities are the quantity and well decorated interior. Plenty of free parking in the lot. Unfortunately I do not think I'll be returning.
I was really excited to hear that another Japanese pasta spot was opening up—ever since I tried pasta in Japan, I’ve been a fan. So, we decided to check it out on a Saturday night. We added our names to the waitlist on Yelp around 4:50 PM while heading to the restaurant and were seated in just five minutes. The parking lot was a bit crowded, but there’s probably some street parking available. The restaurant has a cute and casual vibe, which I really liked. We ordered the garlic bread, Unico salad, Neapolitan pasta, and the Unico Bolognese pasta. The salad came out first—fresh, crisp, and had a lot of dressing. The garlic bread smelled amazing, so I had high hopes, but unfortunately, the flavor didn’t live up to the aroma. It was surprisingly mild, lacking that rich, garlicky-buttery punch. I was especially excited for the Neapolitan pasta since it’s not something you see on many menus. The sauce was decent but felt like it was missing something, and the pasta itself I don’t think was cooked properly—it wasn’t really al dente, possibly due to its thicker texture, but maybe that’s a personal preference. My husband ordered the Bolognese, which is usually his go-to, but this one was not great. While the sauce coated the pasta, it was on the dry side and the flavor was definitely lacking. Overall, I love that Redondo Beach has a new Japanese pasta spot, but I think I’ll stick to Pasta e Pasta and Spoon House for my pasta cravings.

Interesting Japanese-Italian concept and a lively space. We tried the one vegetarian pasta option and a couple of other dishes (which weren’t vegetarian), but the flavors didn’t quite land for us. The vegetarian pasta lacked the umami depth we were hoping for. Clearly popular, just not a fit for us.
First time here bc its DineLA menu looked very enticing. I was disappointed bc the place had no AC for a warm evening; we got seated at a tiny table even though it was at 20% occupancy: all wooden chairs or wooden bench with a very thin cushion so not comfortable; we asked for ice water but got chilled water, by now my appetite was gone. The dishes were ok, didn’t like the cabbage and asparagus in the spaghetti with Shrimps/ ground beef. Soup n salad were coffee shop quality. The servers were really nice tho.

Wasted Money, Wasted Calories. As soon as I looked at menu, we should have walked out. I didn’t realize it was part of the Japonica chain until we had already ordered appetizers. Japonica is terrible but this was worse. We ordered the burrata, the butter garlic shrimp and the garlic bread. The shrimp was flavorless and no garlic or butter was ever in its vicinity. The five tiny shrimp floated in a vat of overly rosemaried olive oil atop 5 canned rubbery slices of mushroom. Completely awful. We then figured we’d make the best of it and try the “most popular” vodka pasta. This was so immediately “chef boyardee” with the matching teenie tiney canned vienna sausage weenies cut into it. If my 10 year old child made this, I would have pretended to eat it and loved it and thrown it out. We threw the fork in and asked for the check. How anyone thinks this is passable food to serve in a restaurant and charge for it, is mind blowing to us. Atmosphere is cute, love the design. However, if you want a cool loud vibe, at least splurge on some speakers around the place not just a faint blown out echo of inaudible music coming from one device in the kitchen. Service was friendly, but our server didn’t check on us and we bussed ourselves. Our server also lied about the ingredients of the food. Would never recommend! Save yourselves.
