Very authentic Korean food, modern, each dish had a distinctive flavor, and the single server, Cory, was very professional, very efficient and did not make us wait at all even though the restaurant was 3/4 full. Very happy we found this restaurant on this side of town, this holds a candle to the best ones in little Korea on the East side. Don't miss the Korean fried chicken, and if you are a party of 3 or more, ask for the full ban-chan (all the sides in small plates). We had Korean udon, street tacos, soon doo bu (spicy stew), and ja yang myeong (spicy noodles), all distinctive and great flavors, accessible to San Antonian palates yet very Korean.
This was a surprise!! The place was almost empty so we were scared. But the food was really good! We love korean food so we know about korean flavors and everything was good. The kimchi just how we like it. The only thing I think the should work is the smell in the place. Maybe some candles or diffuser will do it 😉 besides that we enjoyed our food. The seafood kimchi pancake.... delicious. Kimbap was good.
Didn’t have food here. Was picking up an order for door dash. Service was amazing. Waiting for the order the nice lady helping me offered us some drinks to me and my daughter as well gave her a toy. Such great customer service. I’m sure the food is amazing.
Great service tonight every time I come here and mind you I have been coming here for four months. This white girl named Courtlyn , who has always been My familys server is great and wonderful. She makes everybody laugh at the table. She’s very professional and she makes everybody feel happy. My family wants to give a big shout out to her and the food service.
This is my favorite Korean restaurant in town! I’ve ordered their takeout countless times, and it’s always so good that I finally got curious to try dining in. The rice cake and beef taste even better fresh out of the kitchen. While many people prefer to stick with takeout here I think dining in is absolutely worth it!
This place was excellent! The customer service was superb—our waiter, Ryan, was on top of his game the entire time we were there. The Korean food was outstanding. My coworker, who spent several years stationed in Korea, said it’s the closest he’s tasted to authentic South Korean cuisine since returning to the States. Highly recommend for anyone craving the real deal!
Today was our first visit to Koji Grill. The place was empty at 3 pm so we were worried for min. But we, my husband and I, went in anyway. We were greeted & seated by a very nice and welcoming waitress. She also helped us with our food choices. The food came out quick, hot, and it was delicious when it arrived. We tried 3 different food choices, and they all were good. This place is apparently a hidden gem. We will definitely be back now that we know it's there.
Will definitely be going again! We tried the Beef Bulkogi, Stone Bowl Bi Bim Bap, Gangnam Style Street Tacos, Dukk Bok Gee and Fries! Everything was 10/10! The service was amazing, she was on top of it and was very friendly. I will definitely have to go again and try more items off the menu! I love the tteokbokki, it had a really good spice to it! The tacos were very amazing, and have a really great flavor to them!
Great casual little Korean place! This was my first visit to Kogi and will definitely be returning! The restaurant was impeccably clean, service was great, and food was so good. We ordered the garlic pepper calamari, stir fried squid, and the stone bowl bi bim bap with chicken and steak. The dishes were full of flavor and the sides were delicious. Highly recommend!
Courtlyn who served us food was a gem of a person. I accidentally made my food too spicy and they were kind enough to take it back and bring non spicy version. Just a warning for everyone, medium spicy is unbearable at this place, and this is coming from an Indian person who is used to spice. Very reasonable price! Very kid friendly they brought a toy for my baby without even asking.
Overall, the food was great! I got the Kimchi Fried Rice & Cucumber Kimchi. Both were excellent! I could have eaten so much more Cucumber Kimchi. It was my first time trying it and it was great! The Kimchi Fried Rice was amazing as well! It was hot (temperature) which tells me it was made fresh! I had to let it cool down but once it did, there was not left behind! The atmosphere was quiet maybe I went at a bad time but there was two other customers there and it was very quiet. I went mid-afternoon this past Friday. The service was okay as well. The server/host just seemed like she did not want to be there. She was very quiet, almost timid.
Overall experience was good. The food that was prepared hot was well seasoned and fresh, but they have sides that are placed under chilled and non-chilled category. That was not the case. All the sides were so cold they were inedible. The place itself was nice, though, for whatever reason, it did give slightly seedy vibes, whether it was the fact that place is off to the side in a dark abandoned area of a shopping strip or the fact that the place was completely empty but dealt a lot of take out orders or maybe even the giant hole in the door of the bathroom. Either way, the meal was good, and the experience was interesting. 🤔 Try the fruit punch soju!
We were expecting more on the food. I ordered squid was very strong to chew. We was a group each one said something about the food. I order Pepsi to drink and the flavors were rare. The Japanese pancake was amazing.
While we waited for our drinks, the kids saw 2 roaches around a table next to ours. They were german roaches, but were told the owner had fumigated, etc. We were told we'd get 25-50% off our tab. We only got 10%. I ordered beef bulkogi and was just ok. We were a party of 10. No one raved about their food, but no one complain either. Our orders didn't arrive as ordered, which we told the waitress who just gave us excuses. She had mentioned she had been at work for 12 hours now, so we let things go. We won't be returning to this restaurant.
I've been craving Korean food, especially Bibimbap, for a while. I had seen this place before, finally made time to come in. This place made me happy. The Bibimbap with beef was great and had good spice. The Korean street tacos were also very good. Kimchi was spot on. Is it the best Korean food I've ever had? No, I lived in Japan for 3 years and visited Korea several times. But for NW San Antonio, this place is great. I will definitely come back. Only complaint, trade out the Pepsi products for Coke. Diet Pepsi is gross. I ordered the tea! Edit Returned in March 2025 and this place has gone down hill in a bad way. Place is dirty. Staff are nice, but not knowledgeable of the food or drinks, and the food itself is suspect in quality. Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares has a better chance of going in before I return again. Sad too see this place fall apart. Gotta find better Korean food somewhere else.
Seems like a hole in the wall resturant, me and my family enjoyed. However proceed with caution! I finished my kimchi soup and found this bug at the bottom (pictured below) it was still twitching and it makes me question how many others I ate before noticing this one… besides that 6/10 average for what it is
I was quite excited to try this great looking restaurant, but as someone who’s eaten lots of Korean food and Asian cuisines, I was a bit disappointed with the quality and authenticity of the foods. I ordered the spicy Korean bacon dish and was not too impressed with the spice flavor and the overwhelming amount of jalapeños in it. The egg rolls were very bland and sauce barely complemented the flavor. You are also only given 3 side dishes from a small list of options. Fortunately the side dishes were decent! For the price I was paying I would definitely like to have more options of dishes and would have expected better quality Korean flavor and taste.
The sadness that I feel is overwhelming, if you have never eaten Korean food, I understand the confusion, it tastes like when you have a friend from Korea and he cooks for you, is good but not restaurant good cause your friend is an accountant not a chef. Korea is high cuisine not fast Panda Express, In fact I’ve had better food in Panda Express. 3 stars cause the server was very good, but the food was meh… Friday, August 12/ 2022
My friends and I had the worst experience tonight at Kogi Korean Grill off Vance Jackson. I used to love this place but I guess it has a new owner. She tried to charge $8 for fries for my 1 year old when menu said $1.75. There was a roach in one of the dishes she brought us to “try” but only told after she had given it to us for a few minutes to try. Then the server told us that that food was potentially spayed by pesticide. So furious right now. Never going back there and I don’t recommend it to anyone.
