Really reasonably priced and they give you lots of good food. Selection is ridiculously large, and waiters know the menu by heart. They are also really diligent about getting the food out to you within minutes after you order. No pestering from the waiters, just a polite "how is everything," and then they leave you alone to enjoy your meal!
This is a very nice restaurant. Went there for our 1st visit on Valentine's Day and we were not disappointed. They had a 4 course special that included a bottle of wine and dessert. There was a pianist playing great dinner music. The food was fresh, flavorful, delicious lobster (Good size for 2), friendly and attentative wait staff. We will be back soon ready to try out the regular menu!
Brisket Pho, you won’t be disappointed. Today was an order to go, waited less than 5 minutes. The food was fast, effective, and delicious. I try to grab a bowl when I’m in the area after class lecture. 😋
Always so quick and delicious, my go to spot whenever I feel a cold come on, always stops it before it gets worse 10/10
okay this place is AMAZING! i came here last year and was thinking about this place ever since like actually it’s so delicious and good. i got the bahn mi and the grilled beef pho and literally like its lick your fingers good you hope the sandwich and bowl never ends. loved the bread on the bahn mi and the beef was generously put and genuinely one of my favorite restaurants
The Roasted Chicken Pho!!!! 🤤😭 Starting off, staff were great! Courteous and attended to our needs, requests and questions. The Pho Dac Biet that I received was so good, that my, 'not-so-hungry wife, decided to get a bowl for herself after trying mine! I got it without the soft tendon and tripe because... 😐 The appetizers were a great compliment as well as the sesame chicken! The breading was crispy and done in a way I haven't had before. I will be attempting to replicate myself later in life! The location off of 410 closed, and we noticed this one here close by. The manager at the location says their cook is better! 🤣 No complaints here!
An oldie but a goodie. Usually come here for the pho or bun. Great tasting broth that always hits home. Restaraunt is a little dated, but the regular customers know that the food speaks for itself
This place was great! The food was amazing. The staff was friendly, professional, and expeditious. The dining are was very accommodating. We will visit again.
The food is awesome! General Tso wasn't spicy, but it was still delicious! I am not generally a fan of pineapple in my foods, but the sweetness of the pineapple wasn't prominent in the dish so it didn't bother me one bit. I did enjoy the portion of the plate, it was definitely enough for me to get full without there being left overs! I appreciate that they kept the condiment sauces on the table, their other location tend to keep the condiments until asked for. Their service was good, the cashier was very friendly!
I love this place! My wife and I would go at least twice a month (more if friends or family came in town because we take everyone here first time to SA) before we hit some hard times. The staff is always super friendly some even recognize us on return visits! Get the fried squid it is the best I have had anywhere! I order it every time I see it on a menu and here is where you get the best! The seafood pho has seafood in it and delicious broth that tastes like seafood. Usually you get seafood thrown into a chicken broth and that is what it tastes like. I hate to hype the duck in brown sauce because sometimes they run out and I don't want anyone ordering it but it is my favorite thing on the menu. Everyone who loves Vietnamese food should come here. This place never fails to impress us or our guests and my Vietnamese wife knows her stuff. I reviewed a terrible Vietnamese restaurant across the street and realized I needed to come here and give them their due after way to long. I hope I go back soon. I can smell it when I drive by sometimes since I live just across the highway and it makes me drool.
We dine in here regularly and the wait staff is pleasant and attentive. The food is authentic Vietnamese food so I cannot comment on non viet dishes. The bun dishes are very solid as is hu tieu and banh cuon. If you know these dishes then you will appreciate the attention to detail, including the fresh herbs used. They are not herbs you would just find at heb. Yet they use them because they know that is what makes the dish stand out. Very impressive
I ordered two dishes for pick up, when I was about 5 min away. When I arrived, it was already ready!! Food was fresh and delicious! also, very friendly staff inside.
Been here 3 separate times and each time the service was quick and pleasant. The food is also excellent, most recently had the pho with brisket and I would definitely recommend. They bring you all the extras as well for the best flavor. 10/10.
My wife and I are normally harsh critics when it comes to Vietnamese noodle houses. We are not easily impressed, but today we were. Everything we got was spot on excellent. The egg rolls, the pad Thai noodles, the softshell crab and my wife’s new favorite, noodle soup w/duck meat and bamboo shoots. The dining room was very nice. The booths looked plenty big, and the tables all had Lazy Susan’s for big meals. We will definitely be coming back.
To the people who are saying the pho broth is bland, please name a better restaurant. This is both my girlfriend's and favorite place to eat. Both my son and her are picky eaters but they will eat when we visit here. Service and food have always been great.
I always order to go. The food is ALWAYS delicious. Very visually pleasing and quick without compromising the food and packaging. If I can help it, I refuse to go anywhere else. The Vietnamese Fried Big egg rolls, pad Thai, broccoli beef, seafoods rice plate or just a few favorites. You can’t go wrong with this restaurant. Worth every order I have made with them.
It was great! Pho was yummy and reasonably priced. I’d eat here again. I only ordered the pho so I can’t speak to other menu items.
Ohh how I love the food!! This place never let's me down. The sliced grilled barbecue is my favorite. The pho is delicious and even better on a cold day. The taste of the broth makes me a do happy dance inside. Haha it's amazing how certain food can bring joy to your heart. The employees have always been welcoming, kind, and attentive. The autosphere is a normal restaurant nothing fancy or extreme and to me it's gives it own unique look. The nostalgic feeling that would tell your parents as your older" remember that place that had the delicious pho".
Shrimp and pork spring rolls, wanton soup, combination pad thai and duck with steamed rice was all delicious. It was all brought out very quick and was all fresh made to order. The sauce on the duck was just the right amount of sweet and the portions of duck where grate, it was like half a duck for $14.99. We will most likely be back tomorrow of for sure our next trip to San Antonio to try more menu items.
Been coming here for over a decade. It's our go-to restaurant when we cant agree where to go. Food is consistent, comes out quickly and the portions are large enough to have leftovers for lunch for work the next day. The service is great!
This is our go to for authentic Pho. The atmosphere is exactly spot on from what I grew up with. The food is delicious, the price is spot on, the portions are generous and the staff is always friendly. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for Pho and Vietnamese food in general.
Bbq pork pho is my “go to” here. The fried dumplings are amazing. The cheese rangoons are savory. It is hard to find places like this that have a variety of hidden gems on the menu.
This place is one of the places i visited a lot as a kid with my family and now i go a lot with my dad. I love love LOVE the vermicelli here. the portions are huge and the eggrolls are great!! this is a place i go to when i feel indecisive with eating elsewhere, i always just end up coming back because i know the food is already good.
The food here is FANTASTIC and the prices are also very very good. The service was quick and friendly as well. We will 100% certainly be coming back here. This place had more authentic and more richly flavored pho and dishes as well. Overall an excellent experience that I would highly recommend!
Great Vietnamese food. Almost didn't go because of other reviews however we decided to give it try. Our server was great. She was kind courteous and patiently walked us through the menu. The food was exactly what I was looking for and expected. My wife was surprised at how much she enjoyed her food. Order the Vietnamese egg rolls #2 and the pork skin vermicelli- my wife had the chicken pho. The atmosphere good be better - noisy bussing cart clearing tables, decor was nothing fancy. Go for the food - tons of take out orders as we dined. Definitely worth at try
Looking for non breakfast at 1030am/Friday so tried this 13 yr old establishment (They open at 10am). We moved from Houston 2 yrs ago & have been trying all the asian places near us. This place is awesome. Fresh food, fast & friendly customer service. Lots of choices here. Give them a try 😉
Food: The food was authentic and tasted good (ordered Pho #26). The portion of veggies they give you is small (good amount of bean sprouts, 1 stem of mint and 2 stems of cilantro, only 1 slice of jalapeno). The Thai Tea was not very good.
Menu: Had a lot of variety and a bit confusing to understand but that's expected from an Asian restaurant (an authentic one at least).
Service: Poor. The host had a smile on his face and asked for our refreshment. Our waiter was absent minded and treated us like we were in a cafeteria holding up the line. I had to ask about the meat in a dish 2 times (took a while too) before he was able to explain what the meal was. On the upside the food was prompt.
Atmosphere: Good casual atmosphere. Clean for the most part. When you walk in it's a bit confusing cause there's no sign whether to seat yourself or if you're supposed to be seated.
Food was good. Their bun bo hue was good, not exceptional. The service was very good, attentive and helpful staff. Only negative part would be their lack of drinks options. No smoothies because they want to be respectful of the bubble tea place 2 doors down. Left with basic drinks.
This restaurant offers greater selections of food than other Vietnamese restaurants, from the typical beef noodle soup, vermicelli, also has rice dishes and more. I ordered a plain beef noodle soup only. It was alright, nothing special. Service was attentive. The restaurant has ample space, and can accommodate groups of any size.
Pho was the average broth flavoring, pretty good to stop buy if you’re in the area. Sesame orange chicken was delicious although the fried rice was pretty bad. Not a fan of broccoli but that was good. Other than the bad rice this place is a 4/5 star and they also have many other options to choose from!
Food was over all good. The appetizers were all good. The pho had good quality meat but the broth was a little on the blander side. My problem is that once out food was delivered our waiter never came back to check on us after we had finished our food we waited about half an hour and had to go up to the counter to ask and pay for the check where the lady took a few moments to look up from her phone. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding on our part and we needed to go up in the first place but what wasn’t clear. I’d eat here again.
Nice place. Fast friendly service. Reasonable prices. Appetizers were great, arrived hot and timely. I was disappointed in the Peking duck. My only previous experience with Peking Duck was a couple of years ago in Beijing where i tried the two major versions. This was nothing like either of those. Now, to be fair, if you haven't had Peking Duck previously you might enjoy this version. It wasnt BAD, just nothing like my previous experiences in Beijing.
Overall a very good bowl of Pho. The noodles were pre cooked perfectly to match the hot broth, although I wished there was a little more noodles and beef included. This did not detract much from the dish however. Plenty of onion in the soup as well as offering basil and cilantro on the side. Broth was a bit salty and needed a bit more aromatic hints to be considered excellent broth. Overall for the price, their Pho is slightly above average in my opinion.
Visiting from out of town. Pho is descent, fried egg rolls are massive and decor is nice. Customer service is lacking though. Only saw waiter when taking order, dropping off food and dropping off check. Never in between to ask how I was doing or definitely needing a refill on my drink. The food is what’s stopping me from dropping it too 3 stars. The food is descent actually tasty when you finally see the waiter.
Nice Vietnamese restaurant. They have a good selection of noodle soup, and they all taste authentic. I love their spring rolls. get to wrap them in lettuce and dip in their fish sauce. Absolutely delicious. The only complaint that I have is that their waiter is not the usual friendly wait staff that I'm used to in Asian restaurants. Could be that he had a bad day or something.... definitely need to put a smile on that face...
Our food was good, meat was tender and yummy. Service was nice as well, but the walls in our booth were weirdly dirty. It's probably something they're aware of, and I'm not saying anything was enough to put us off our appetites but I do wish things felt a little more pristine. That's all!
Food was pretty mediocre. Wonton soup was pretty good, but the squid tempura was soggy and bland. I would at least recommend serving a sauce with it or having some sort of way of keeping it crispier.
I had the Vietnamese egg roll, pho and a Vietnamese coffee. The egg roll was good, it had lots of meat and was hot and crunchy. The pho was okay, but I found the broth a little too salty and the meat was not the best, but it was okay. I feel like it was all overpriced for the quality of the food. The restaurant also needs to be cleaned up better, there were stains on the walls.
Came to lunch with my wife. She had some kind of soup I had the orange chicken. She loved the soup and I got plenty of the orange chicken. Location was easy to find; plenty of parking. Plenty of TVs to watch cooking shows. Were nice and friendly service was quick and food was very hot and delicious. Clean restaurant and clean restrooms. Little pricey but worth the money. Give this place 👍 👍. Recommend you find this place and have a good meal.
Another first for me. I mean I liked it and all, but I think they put a little too much broccoli 🥦 for the price. Good flavor....but I just can not see how they couldn’t diversify the ingredients to an equally legitimate serving. Maybe it’s just me? Everything was cooked just right, which I don’t understand, just balance your dishes is all I’m saying.
Service was rough, server straight up denied my ask for the plate of cilantro, basil and sprouts, because my vermicelli meal "has veggies in it." Mind you, I have been coming here religiously for over 10 years, and am familiar with what I regularly order. I asked for chili paste when my bowl came to the table, chili paste never came. It was a real let down from a favorite spot. I work in the area and would hate to have to stop going do to poor service. Plus, this new menu structure is less desirable. Not sure where good ol 54 went...
I was very disappointed with this place. My wife and I felt very rushed. We barely cracked open the menus when the waitress first asked us to order. She came back several times in a short time, barely giving us a chance to read the menu (or even talk to each other, which is also the point of going out on a date). Also, the food was so bland, I couldn’t believe they would serve it to guests and expect them to pay for it. It tasted like all the flavoring had been washed out with water. We didn’t even finish it or ask for a box. Unless you like throwing away your hard-earned money, I suggest you avoid this place. You definitely will not get your money’s worth (or proper service) here.
guys were nice, tried the food to see if the 4.2 rating was true because i’m a big vietnamese food lover and the spring rolls were filled with fishy shrimp and lettuce the pho was ok it was oily but my biggest issue was a huge roach crawling across the floor under one of the big round tables, one second i saw it one second it was scurrying away. it was one of those ugly weird looking roaches that look like aliens too, if you see one there’s more hiding about. i stopped eating and left immediately
This place used to be good… years ago. I don’t know what happened last 2 times I’ve been here. Last time the service was terrible, after they brought my plate the waiter never checked back on me, to see if I needed more water or anything else. Also, the wall next to my table was dirty, seriously dirty. This second time I ordered take out and they overcharged me. So make sure you compare your ticket to the prices on the menu.
Went to eat after years of not visiting...it was just AWFUL!!! Starting off with being served spoiled springrolls that ended up taking me to the ER after days of suffering, then we were served eggdrop soup that was semi-sweet and burnt (very peculiar), and if that wasn't enough, the chips that they give on the side was stale. My veggie pho lacked flavor and service was the worst I've ever experienced. Extremely rude and neglectful even when we brought the spoiled spring rolls to their attention, snapped back rudely saying nothing's wrong with them, and wouldn't bring out couple lemon wedges for our water. Business is clearly not doing well if you serve spoiled, stale food, and can't even afford a third of a lemon wedge. Good riddens!
I usually don't write reviews but this place was disgusting! A big disappointment in Pho as it was my 1st time trying it. The "brisket" was a big piece of fat with like a centimeter of meat on it for a bowl of pho and tea I spent 14.88, for that price I could've ate a decent and tasty meal somewhere else. The service was also horrible waited over 15 min for someone to even acknowledge us we were skipped 3 times as people that came in after us were served before us. I DO NOT Recommend this place at all!
The service was bad and they refused to apply their own promotion. Spend your money somewhere else that worth it 🙂↕️
Dear chef, please taste the food you are serving or ask a Vietnamese person to taste it before you serve to customers. The pork chop with the rice plate was so overpowering with Chinese five spice it was hard to eat. The hot and sour soup was so sweet, why put so much sugar? The side of soup that is supposedly pho broth was super salty, couldn’t eat that either. For the future of your business, please readjust your seasonings and do justice to Vietnamese food again.
This place gave my husband and I food poisoning. I’ve never had an issue going here before today. I haven't had their food in a while so decided to order. The egg-rolls & fish oil tasted rotten. We literally took the bite and quickly spat it out. Yet we still got sick.
ordered delivery and was given half of my order and some random shrimp dish. decided to eat the shrimp instead of complaining and it was overcooked and flavorless. won't be back
We walked in all happy and excited about having some Pho for dinner. The first thing we do is to find a booth or table. As we headed to a both there was a live cockroach moving along on booth wall. I was shocked and just wanted to leave but I told the waiter very discreetly about the roach. He acted not surprised at all and offended. Can you imagine how that place is at night when it is dark without a people present? Possibly a very busy place with more bugs. We left.
I’ve been a loyal customer, spending over $100 at Hung Cuong Pho, but their shady practices have completely turned me off. They recently changed their name, but the poor business tactics remain the same. I qualified for a $10 off promo code, yet every time I try to use it on DoorDash, they cancel my order and conveniently “close” the store. All this hassle over $10? It’s clear they’re dodging their own promotions. No matter how many times you rebrand, Hung Cuong Pho, your reputation stays at rock bottom. Save your money and avoid this place until they learn to treat customers fairly.
I rarely write negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my recent experience at Pho Hung Cuong Restaurant so others can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, my visit was deeply disappointing and, frankly, concerning. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was uninviting. The interior was noticeably dark, almost gloomy, which made it hard to enjoy the dining experience. While some restaurants aim for ambiance with low lighting, this felt more like neglect than design. It created a very unappealing first impression. The service added to the discomfort. An older gentleman in a white shirt, who appeared to be either the owner or manager, was noticeably unpleasant (not just with us, but also in how he interacted with another visitor). There was no warmth, no welcome, just a cold and dismissive attitude. What really made the experience unbearable was the noise and sanitation practices. Throughout our entire meal, this same man, along with another male employee, were standing in the middle of the dining area, polishing silverware and tossing it into a clean bin (not in the back, not out of sight, but right in front of us). The clanging and crashing of utensils created a constant loud, jarring noise that made it nearly impossible to enjoy a conversation or even think clearly. The lack of regard for customer comfort was baffling. To make matters worse, the aftermath of the meal was disastrous. Every person in our party became ill after eating here. We experienced what were unmistakably symptoms of food poisoning within hours of dining. Headaches, nausea, stomach issues - everything you'd hope to avoid. This raises serious questions about food safety and hygiene in the kitchen. In sum, this visit was a complete failure in terms of atmosphere, service, and, most importantly, health standards. With all the excellent Vietnamese restaurants available in San Antonio, I strongly urge others to avoid Pho Hung Cuong. Between the unpleasant staff, disruptive environment, and the serious health consequences we experienced, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Rating: 1/5 — Would give zero if I could.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! We came in at around 8:40 and were under the impression that they closed at 10, as stated on their info on Apple Maps. We walked in and sat down and the waiter asked if we were ready to order and since we had just arrived, we asked for additional time. Another man from the back who was not even our waiter proceeded to yell out “we close the kitchen in 10”, insinuating that we should order if not we would not be served. We were surprised and ordered fast and they no joke brought the food out in 5 mins. I’m pretty sure it was not fresh. We start eating and I saw the waiter just hanging around our table staring at us so I asked if they closed at a different time and he was like “yup it’s on the door, 9:15”. We apologized and he was giving excuses about how they needed extra time to sanitize or something, honestly I did not even understand him. At this point, we’re trying to eat as fast as we could and even then, it wasn’t fast enough apparently. 10 mins into eating, the waiter came and literally asked “does anyone need a box” and we felt super pressured. We told him we were still eating and 2 mins later, he comes up again and says “ok are you guys ready to go”. It was 9:30 and at this point, they were basically kicking us out. Everyone from the whole restaurant was just standing waiting for us to leave, it was so bad. I totally get wanting to close and leave at an appropriate time but they should’ve just told us they would want us to be completely gone and out by 9:15. If that was the case, we would’ve just taken our service elsewhere. Also, the whole “needing more time to sanitize” was a lie. WE WERE STILL IN THE PARKING LOT GETTING READY TO LEAVE AND THE WAITERS COME OUT STORMING INTO THEIR CAR and took off so fast it was insane. The photo shows how the entire restaurant was shut down before we even left. I don’t see how they even washed our dishes or cleaned up after us, it was crazy. Pretty sure the other reviews about being unsanitary are 100% true. I witnessed them lying about cleaning up. Save your time and money, don’t come here. Food is pretty average anyways.
If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. The smell when you enter was not pleasant- it smells as though they mixed cleaning chemicals together. While the food tasted ok, the waiter got my husband's order wrong and brought him the wrong dish- but because the wait was so long to get our food (and we were the only people in at the time) he just ate what they gave him. He noticed some of the meat in his meal was not chicken- but some other dark looking meat. The pho almost certainly gave me food poisoning (since I hadn't eaten anything else that day) which I endured through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I would be wary of this establishment.
Taste of food was decent, the service was horrible, the waiter had a horrible attitude, we admit we did not mention “no bean sprouts” but this is what we got after we asked for no lettuce, the layer of noodles was close to nothing. We asked if this was normal he said “yes if you don’t get lettuce and don’t mention anything you get extra other stuff” So bottom line be sure to be extra specific with your order or instead of vermicelli you’ll be eating bean sprouts or lettuce or what ever “other stuff” means to them.
Read Update!!! I've been picking up my Pho for years here, and they are always on point and you can't beat the price. Update:👍♥️ Edit:7/25/25 🚨 Unposted policy 🚨 I’ve eaten at Pho Hung Cuong for years, but after today’s interaction, I can confidently say I won’t be back. While handing a menu back to the server, it accidentally hit my drink. The glass spilled and broke. The server told me: “If you break it, you buy it. Isn’t that how it goes everywhere?” 🤦🏽♀️ I’ve never been to a restaurant where you’re charged for an accident. No posted policy, no replacement drink just a bill for a spilled glass. Accidents happen, and most businesses are prepared for mishaps. Here, they make the customer pay. Extremely disappointing and unwelcoming. And honestly, if I’m paying for the glass that accidentally broke, they should’ve at least handed it over to me. That’s my broken cup now bit#! 😂
VERY disgusting. It was sooooo oily as you can see in the pictures, the broth to oil ratio, so unhealthy. I don’t normally go out of my way and leave reviews. So that’s really saying something. DONT EAT HERE. I’ve had way better Vietnamese food. Spring roll was good and fresh (based on other reviews maybe I just got lucky). However my boyfriend and I agreed this is was the most disgusting food. After your done reading this, our stomachs are gonna need some prayer because of all that oil. On top of that they were watching us eat as if they knew we were gonna be disappointed. As a server myself, I would feel ashamed to serve that to someone.
Got the teriyaki chicken was clearly preheated and very dry. The tilapia was a highlighter red and the pho had a lot of stems in the broth.
