The restaurant's location is beautiful, with incredible views of the mountains. You can walk around the restaurant. Their specialty is polenta, which is accompanied by three types of meat, a delicious appetizer, and gourmet cheese, accompanied by the house wine. The service was very friendly, and I personally felt it was very well-deserved from the moment I placed my order and the food was delivered. Reservations are required because it gets much busier on the weekend. The price is very good, excellent in relation to the quality of the presentation and flavor. Everything was delicious from start to finish with dessert and coffee.
A very nice family-run restaurant with an enchanting view, excellent value for money. We ordered the €25 menu with mixed cold cuts, polenta concia with three types of meat (wild boar, venison, stewed sausage), and crostini with flavored butter—an absolute must-try. Wide selection of wines and impeccable service. I will definitely return to try all the other specialties.
Recommended by our hotel, today on our way back from Colle del Nivolet, we stopped for lunch at La Baracca restaurant. What can I say? Superb welcome, friendly and knowledgeable staff, superb food. We had a platter of cured meats and tagliatelle with game sauce, and to finish, zabaglione with cream and biscuits. All sublime. Highly recommended.
I don't often give five stars, but for this restaurant, they're the minimum; six would be a must. The entire menu is excellent; the game is prepared with just the right balance of flavors and the meat is incredibly tender and flavorful. The polenta taragna is simply breathtaking. The desserts are an indescribable delight. The food presentation is also top-notch, as you can see in the photos. And finally, the owner's kindness and her zabaglione are unforgettable. Thank you so much, we'll be back next spring.
Excellent restaurant, serving strictly homemade food made with high-quality ingredients. Genuine, friendly, and welcoming service. The outdoor tables are lovely, perfect for lunch in the sunshine. We chose the two menus available, one for €23 and the other for €28 (plus two appetizers and dessert); both included polenta concia (taragna in some regions) and local game. In total, we spent €58.00. Excellent value.
What a lovely surprise!!! Excellent food, stunning location, more than fair prices, and very friendly people. If you eat well, take it slowly, drinking a good wine. We went to Colle de Nivolet to see a piece of paradise and also discovered this wonderful place to eat. Our day was perfect!
The food was very good and fresh, the entree was delicious with tasty crudo ham, salame, coppa and lardo and very good polenta with cheeses and lovely wild meat. Good price
Excellent place to have a late lunch after a walk through the clouds or a good drive to get up to the restaurant. Those of you that love the mountain will be just at home. Those of you who love to drive, will not want the road to end. And in the middle you have a good place for an excellent lunch with specific mountain dishes.
The restaurant is near the Serrù Dam, nestled in the Gran Paradiso National Park. The venue is welcoming. There are two rooms on two floors. There is parking for guests. The service is good, and the waitresses are kind and professional. The food is excellent, with fresh ingredients and well-presented dishes, and decent portions. There is a good selection of wines. Prices are below average: dinner for two with two appetizers, one first course, one second course, a half-liter of Barbera, and one liter of still water, €33. Recommended. The restaurant is near one of the most beautiful places in Piedmont. After visiting the Nivolet, you need to stop at this restaurant for dinner. The food is excellent and fresh. They have a good selection of wines. Dessert is also good. Price: €33 for an average dinner.
The coffee was good but the quality of the 🥐 wasn't so great
Good mountain restaurant, reservations required on weekends with a fixed menu in 2 options (from €23 or €28). Both menus focus on polenta concia with wild boar and roe deer meat. Adequate and tasty portions. Fast, friendly and attentive service. Recommended for a lunch at the foot of the Nivolet hill.
A very nice place with a truly stunning view. Inside, there's a large, well-maintained room, but a bit noisy. The bathrooms are very clean, and the service is simple but very friendly. The only downside was that there was only one person waiting on the tables, all full, who was also working the register at the same time. Despite this, the wait wasn't long. The food is very good and the portions are generous; the menu is worth it for its value.
A delicious merenda sinoira (snack-filled afternoon snack) featuring local cheeses: all kinds of Toma and Fontina, accompanied by Tropea onion jam. The cheese biscuits were also delicious. The meal was provided by the Gran Paradiso National Park, following an interesting visit to Lake Serrù and its dam. The restaurant is rustic and welcoming, as one would expect from a mountain lodge, and also very spacious. Stuffed animals adorn various corners of the room, providing us with the opportunity to further our explanation of the park's fauna.
Let's start by saying that the place is quite expensive! The €25 menu per person includes a platter of cured meats and cheeses (as pictured), polenta concia, and three types of stew, including wild boar, venison, and sausage. I wasn't crazy about the meat, nor were my friends! It tasted like it was made yesterday! The polenta was very good! The platter was good, but not enough for five people. It would have been better to have a €20 platter. The area is very nice. The staff is average, but quite friendly.
I've known this restaurant for over 20 years, and I've never been as disappointed as I was today! The restaurant offers two menus: a "quick" and a "full" one. The only difference between the two is dessert. Each menu includes a charcuterie board, polenta concia, and stewed meats, plus coffee (drinks not included). They cost €23 and €28 respectively, with a cover charge of €3! Excellent quality, but the quantity of meat was small: for four people, five sausages in sauce, eight small pieces of wild boar, and eight small pieces of venison. When we pointed out to the owner that we thought the portions were a bit small for four people, he literally replied: "Is it possible that you customers always have to argue? If you wanted more, you could have asked!" (Of course...paying for double the portion) Aside from the rudeness and disappointment, we were "gifted" 6 biscuits with coffee, which actually tasted more like barley, as a kind of sweetener! Absurd... I think it's new management...or someone who took over from the old managers, because I've never left there unsatisfied!
