My partner Joe took me to Tapas Valencia for dinner tonight and wow was it incredible. We walked in to a warm welcome, our table was ready and waiting for us and a very talented guitar player was gracing us with some great hits. Our server Alex was outstanding, very attentive to anything we needed , didn't rush us and he happily gave us all his food and drink recommendations. I am sooooooo glad we went with his recommendations because each dish that came out was better than the last!!! Every dish and every bite had so much flavor and uniqueness. We are home in bed now and still cannot stop talking about how delicious everything was! We cannot wait to go back. To name a few things we ordered - baked goat cheese with red sauce and crunchy bread, papas bravas, black bean soup , steak cooked so perfectly it melted in our mouths, the seafood paella was insanely good, mocktail was crazy good, we couldn't have asked for any better food and it came out quick but was spaced out perfectly. Throughout our meal multiple employees kindly came up and asked how everything was, Leah was especially sweet and personable. We cannot wait to go back again, we will for sure be requesting Alex for our server again to! I would highly recommend!!!! It seems kid friendly as well ❤️

Came with a group and enjoyed the restaurant greatly. My favorite tapas was the Queso de cabra, the goat cheese with tomato sauce and garlic bread.

First time visiting. Very professional, attentive staff. There was a problem with valet parking and the restaurant manager handled it right away and very professionally. My party decided to order enough to sample items, which worked out beautifully. All of the food was fresh and brought out in a timely fashion. Our server immediately cleared any used dishes to make room for new ones. The atmosphere was pleasant and I especially enjoyed not being rushed out of the restaurant even after our meal was finished.

This is a Spanish food restaurant and it’s amazing. We ordered several tapas in addition to the meatballs, beef empanada, and spicy potatoes. We also tried the Campesina paella that has chicken (we would have loved more chicken in the dish). It was interesting that the menu has a wide variety of dishes, including vegetarian options and others with different sources of protein (seafood, chicken, beef). Their wine selection is very rich too, and sangria is available for both red and white wine. I loved the Miro and Picasso decoration! I was very surprised by it! They also had a guitar player walking and playing music all the time, which adds up to the atmosphere. I would just say the volume could be lower for a more pleasurable conversation with friends. It was nice that staff spoke in Spanish, too!! This place is a bit pricey, but fair because of quality. Portions are not very big.

Food was awesome, service was good. My only complaint is that we went there for the happy hour deal and they decided not to do it because of a concert going on, which felt like price gouging....I'm glad the food was good because that turned me off. Sangria was pretty okay, nothing amazing but it was pretty much as expected. I would come back because all of the food was great and nice to share.

Husband and I are from Florida and make it a point to visit each trip to Chicago. Easy access from the city on the red linr. He has celiac disease and has not had any problems. We love the variety and quality of the dishes. The service has always been excellent. Thoroughly enjoy our visits to Tapas Valencia!

Afternoon outing to Tapas Valencia Yesterday Such a beautiful memory to celebrate this special occasion with our family Roger and Caterina 40th anniversary. It’s a blessing to see them together this long and still going strong. This night was amazing the food was delicious and the drinks were really good too. Me and my family want to plan another visit back here soon. We were doubting this restaurant but we enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff and the food was a plus.

Valet parking, big space, great distance between tables feel clean feel safe here. Grill calamari, grill octopus, grill shrimp with butter sauce, grill scallops, grill lamb chop with red wine sauce every dish we try was the best. Great portions well balanced of flavors. Every dish have piece of lemon to add another layer of flavor. Just perfect. Not the best sangria but definitely value. One pitcher probably one bottle of red wine in there. Must try dessert plater. All dessert here are perfect flavor and textures. Absolute not too rich and finished them with cup of cappuccino. Perfect dinner for us.

My wife and I love to share plates. This tapas gem gave us a unforgettable dining experience. Great protein selections bursting with flavor. Well crafted drink with phenomenal customer service.

Very lovely 😍 spot. Good looking and charming staff. The tapas was good 👍🏾 overall. For the lemon chicken, it was tasty but a little tough. My drink was gorgeous but a bit watery. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We sat at bar and it was very nice. I ordered five tapas and was full! Three or four next time perhaps. The bacon 🥓 wrapped dates were fabulous and the meatball delicious 😋. I want to try the beef next visit. And a dessert 🍨.

Tapas Valencia is a hit! I stopped in looking for a quick bite and a drink. All of the food was very tasty. The prices on the menu are about average for the area. They have a wide variety of items on the menu and a good drink selection. The service was great too. I would recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area and wanting to try some tapas.

Bruhhhhh… this was probably one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had and I’ve had some experiences! One of the things I loved most about this place was that there was a tab for SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY on their website. Not a footnote! A full tab with a list of the organizations they support. That made me love them before the experience. Five hours later, this place is family. Family! The entire mood, the energy is so welcoming. Now! The important part. Their happy hour is the standard for great food, drinks, and service. When I say we left with the staff … last ones out! Already making plans to visit at least monthly! Get the bacon wrapped dates. The mushroom. The salmon. The chocolate bite is just enough. I’m floored. Sit at the bar. Make friends kinda spot! If you have bad energy, don’t go and kill our vibe. If you wanna feel like a warm hug, come by and look for me! 🥰

What a great place to eat!! It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant that really nails the atmosphere, but this place really has a handle on it! The servers are EXTREMELY attentive and kind, they seemed to know we were ready to order more before we even said anything!! Additionally, the food is just delicious. I've been here twice now, and both times, everything was fantastic. You'll find that even though this is a tapas place, the portions are still fairly generous, all things considered. And although the prices are a little steep, I fully believe you're getting what you pay for with this place. With high quality ingredients and phenomenal flavors, Tapas Valencia is a fantastic place to come for a special occasion, or a family gathering. I high recommend it!!

Great experience for a group! This was my first time trying Tapas and it was awesome! I would recommend each person ordering something they like, then having the entire table take a piece of each plate! Was nice! My favorite had to be either the steak or piaya! Drinks were also great, service was amazing! Very nice restaurant for a dinner out!

Fire dinner spot! Fabulous service from Brian who went above and beyond! Queso de cabra was AMAZING and I cannot recommend enough! Other highlights are the Pipirrana de Buey and the flan. Ok but not great: paella, patates bravas, and sangria flight. Would recommend!

What a great place for tapas! Really good menu of varied choices. I loved the goat cheese with red wine soaked pears in particular. Our server was super friendly and helpful.

Tapas Valentia was a great and moderately priced restaurant! We told them we were in a hurry because of a time commitment after dinner so ordered right away, and they were happy to accommodate us! The service was friendly and the interior was nicely decorated and clean. I want to go back to try more dishes from the extensive menu!

Fantastic Mother's Day brunch ... the food is excellent and the servers are very friendly. On special occasions they have a fixed menu with a carefully selected course of tapas.

This place never fails me. Love their fruity sangrias and basil martini. Definitely a place I usually bring friends too. We order several dishes/tapas and we all share them. Sharing food makes a great conversation. Paellas take too long so if your in the mood for one make sure you put the order in right away.

The food was tasty!!! Their cold and hot tapas made me feel like in heaven! The service was wonderful! Our server noticed that I was celebrating birthday and decided to give us a free birthday cake with nice decoration. I will definitely come back soon. :)

The food here was sooo good! Everything I had was delicious. My favorite were the solmillo a la plancha y gambas. Service was great. Place was clean . The sangria flight was awesome. Our server Johan was nice and attentive

I give Tapas Valencia 5 Stars. This is a great place in the South Loop to go for excellent tapas. Wait staff were friendly and accommodating as this was our first time at this restaurant. They took the time to explain the menu items. Their white sangria was fantastic. All of our entrees were excellent, served in a timely manner, and serve correctly and steaming hot. I highly recommend this South Loop gem.

We had a wonderful experience at this tapas restaurant! The Solomillos a la Plancha were perfectly cooked, and even the chicken breast in the Pollo a Limon was juicy and flavorful. We arrived at 4 pm to a pleasant atmosphere and received excellent service from our server. Highly recommended!

I lived in Spain for eight months, and this place is the closest I’ve come to since being back in the states. The tapas were amazing, and the staff were so friendly and patient I thought I was back in the land of relaxed smiles. Really good happy hour menu. I never had a chance to try the paella, but I will certainly be back for it!

I really enjoyed their tapas. They were tasty and delicious. The place is beautiful, all decorated with Miró's (artist) style colors and shapes. I would go back often if I lived close. Paul, our server was super nice, patient and sweet.

Celebrated a birthday, they did not disappoint, they had a printed napkin amongst the table setting for the birthday person in our group. The food was great, 😊 including desserts!! Great service, great atmosphere!!

Incredible smoked old fashion. Quality ingredients and a fun delivery. Absolutely worth the cost. All the food was tasty and the service is great. it’s not cheap but seems like a great choice for date night or client dinners.

I think I would have given this 5 stars if I came for dinner but the brunch was still pretty good! I got the chicken sliders and we also tried the tarta de pera which was delicious.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tapas Valencia during Restaurant Week 2025, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We opted for the prix fixe menu, which offered an impressive array of choices, catering to various tastes and preferences. For appetizers, we tried the Buñuelos con Cangrejo and Champiñones Rellenos. Both dishes were surprisingly delightful! The buñuelos were perfectly crispy on the outside, with a rich crab filling that burst with flavor, while the stuffed mushrooms were packed with a savory mixture that left us wanting more. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Branzino a la Plancha. Cooked to perfection, the fish was flaky and infused with subtle hints of seasoning that highlighted its natural flavors. It was an absolute treat! We couldn't resist diving into dessert, and it certainly did not disappoint. Each bite was a sweet finale to an already fantastic meal. As a bonus, we decided to try the sangria flight, which allowed us to taste several of their unique offerings. This was a brilliant idea, as it helped us discover our favorites for next time. Overall, the service throughout the evening was excellent—attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Tapas Valencia is definitely a gem in Chicago, and I can't wait to return for another round of their delectable tapas and vibrant sangria!

There is a large selection of food, which is great in a way, and there are lots of vegetarian and gluten free options available. The variety is definitely there, which goes hand in hand with having a large menu. The portion is on the smaller end, and you may have to order two dishes for one person if you really want to be full. In terms of taste, I would not say it is over the top amazing, but it is for sure solid, and there are some dishes worth getting twice! I had the Salteado de Hortalisas and I really enjoyed it. Overall also good atmosphere, especially since it is located among the residential areas of South Loop, which is convenient for people who live in that area

Our first time here and it did not disappoint! First they have complimentary valet! So don’t worry about trying to find parking! The service initially was somewhat slow but the server made up for it by giving some great recommendations; the pitcher of sangria, which was very good and they did not skimp on the wine! We ordered the chicken skewer, the steak skewer, the ham and cheese croquettes, their charcuterie plate as well as their Valenciana paella was delicious. This is a must go place and we will definitely be back.

Expensive! Decent portions, good tasting. Tried the Paella Camposina, which is like a vegetable paella, not bad but I’ve had better. The skirt steak was excellent along with the roasted red peppers. The croquettes were very very good. Service of course was very very, so really the only complaint was the price, very expensive. I’m not sure I would call it entirely authentic Spanish cuisine, but very close. We were Cafe Ibérico fans, but they’ve since closed. This is second best!

J

Nice place for tapas. Their daily happy hour special at 5:00 is good, though with inflation I would prefer they raise the price for the tapas from $3 to $4 or $5, but then add a couple more substantive hot tapas, like a pincho du pollo or similar. I took 1 ⭐ off as the incorrectly spelled mouthwash label in the bathroom drives me up a wall everytime I go in there.... 🙂

M
Michael S. Chandler

Great tapas spot with a huge varied menu. Service was excellent and prices were average. There seemed to be lots of fruit flies around, and the Paella didn’t seem super fresh, but everything else was excellent

L

Nice outdoor patio, large indoor space abd bar. Dogs welcome outside. Special cocktails, good selection of wines by the glass. Free Greek olives. Service a little slow. I got paella which takes 40 minutes and was excellent. Large portions.

S

A handful of vegetarian options are available here, some which are better than others. My favorite dish was the garlic bread and goat cheese plate. It was the tastiest thing we ate this evening. Everything else was average. The main thing that makes me give this an above average rating was the service tonight. It was excellent. I was quite pleased and would go again for a few small plates and the fantastic service.

I usually go for the sangria and the paella. I mostly enjoy the service. The waiters are always very attentive and thoughtful.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants and it’s sort of still is. I would go here at least 3 to 4 times a year. I’m just sad that one of my favorite cold tapas dishes is no longer available because it has become cost prohibitive to the restaurant: Tostadas de Centollo.

I think the atmosphere of this location is great. Also, our server was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great suggestions. The food however was a bit of a mixed bag. We ordered 4 dishes, the Tiger shrimp which was excellent but small (to be fair we were told it was small when we ordered it), the artichoke was a big salty and had a tad too "vinergary", the Octopus was also delicious, no complaints at all. The lamb, while ok, was not "medium" as we ordered. The overall experience here was good and I would certainly come back due to the excellent service and the ambiance being good, and the food being tasty for the most part. I had an above average experience.

My wife and I ate here on a Friday night at 8:00 pm. We did not have reservations, but they said they could seat us. We ended up at an awkward table where we could not sit across from each other. The wait or came over quickly and was almost too friendly it came off to me as insincere. We ordered two cocktails immediately and then a papaya. We then ordered 3 tapas dishes. The server twice came over and said your drink will be right here, but it took 25 min for 2 cocktails. As soon as he brought them, our tapas arrived. We had no time to enjoy our cocktails before food was on our table. The food was good, with the exception of one potatoe dish, which lacked seasoning. The atmosphere was not my favorite, but that's just my opinion. I am not sure if I would dine here again. Our bill was $93 without tip.

L
Loui M

The food lacked some flavor, being a Tapas restaurant was a bit disappointed compared to others we've visited. It's worth trying, but keep your expectations at a minimum! Service was great, sangrías were delicious, try the flight so you can try some of their flavors! Pomegranate and pear was best choice for us..

We came for the happy hour and tried their entire happy hour menu and quickly realize it might not be their strong suit. You must order a drink each at the happy hour. Here are the items we tried: - tostada de boquerones (not a favorite) - tostada de jamon serrano (ok) - tostada de paza (not a favorite) - patatas bravas (ok) - cazuela de arroz con azafran (not a favorite) - datiles con tocino (ok) - banderilla de salmon (dry, not a favorite) - pollo con comino (dry not a favorite) - champinones de logrobio (not a favorite)

We came to this place since it was recommended to us by a couple friends that work here. We arrived and the hostess was very helpful she gave us a table fast and provided the baby’s chair very fast, we had several servers who asked if we had been taken care of they had to go look for our server because we didn’t have water nor menus. After dropping the menus it took him a while to comeback to the table. Anabel had to go get our server after few mins of noticing our server wasn’t back He took the order Allan brought the food and checked us few times. My mom ordered coffee two times to the server and he kept forgetting until we asked Ana another server The bartender made really good drinks And everyone else were nice and professional Except the server assigned to us Seems like he was getting lost very often and other people had to keep chasing him to come to our table. Other than that the food was good The drinks were good 😊 And it was very easy to find parking On the streets

Would have given it a solid 3.5 if that was an option. Staff is friendly and warm. Atmosphere was pleasant and bright. Valet out front for $6 seemed reasonable even though I came on foot. Food was mildly overpriced for being underwhelming. Food menu was large and had options for everybody. Didn't drink alcohol but looked a decent amount of options. Bread was nice sourdough but very stale. Complimentary olives in the bar area (in a tomato vinegar marinade). The plate sizes are neither small nor medium. They are right in between. Pictures below show the 3 I had. That was a fair amount for one person. Cold tapas shrimp (gambas) were done well. Liked them a lot. Clean tasting and 3 different dipping sauces. Tomato salad was good as well. Best of the dishes I had. Number 2 was tostado with king crab. Generous portion of crab but bread wasn't very crunchy and it eats poorly (sloppy/hard to eat cleanly). Underlying sauce was good but a bit much and the crab was borderline fishy. Meh. Wouldn't get it again. Last was the skirt steak with blue cheese over potatoes. Steak was average. Blue cheese was good but the combo with the onions and potato slices wasn't for me. Overall I'd definitely go back and I think you can have a good experience but it's not overly special. There's a place in river north that is more authentic feeling and tasting (plus more $ friendly).

There are things to like about Tapas Valencia but also some room for improvement. The food was largely delicious. Although billed as tapas that are sized for sharing, some menu items were a little small to share. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a comfortable environment. The tables aren't crammed in and it's easy to talk over the pleasant, low level music. The major issue was the service. The waiter was strange from the start. We asked "what do you recommend?" and instead of making recommendations he said "there are things I like here but you might not like what I like so you should just order what you want." I found that to be sort of strange, as it's fairly typical to ask a waiter for recommendations. We ended up ordering a dozen or so items to share for our group, making our own selections. One guest at our table had a food allergy that shouldn't have been unusually difficult to accommodate. It should have been easy to assemble a salad, leaving out the ingredient, or a selection of sides from the existing menu. The waiter refused to consider those options, instead offering a single item on the menu as an option. It took a lot of convincing to get the waiter to even go talk to the kitchen, and he returned with the same answer-- they would not "leave out" anything from an existing item. There was one item and that was it. In addition the waiter seemingly did not want to wait on 1/3 of our group (I was one of them). He handed menus to 2/3 of us and did not hand one to the rest (including me). We had to ask. I ordered a drink. He didn't write it down and didn't bring it until I asked a second time. When it came time to order dessert, he took orders from the 2/3 of the table he was willing to acknowledge and then walked away without so much as making eye contact with the remaining 1/3 of us. I was going to order dessert, but decided not to since by this point I had had enough of the rude service. The 1/3 of the table he refused to acknowledge included the person with the food allergy, so maybe that irritated him and he decided that entire end of the table didn't deserve service. I'm not sure. It was bizarre and created a bit of an uncomfortable atmosphere. Because I was with a group, I didn't want to make a fuss-- but it was poor service and not what I expected given the rave reviews this restaurant has received. Maybe we just caught this waiter on a bad night, but it did impact my enjoyment nonetheless.

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday with a group of about 14 people. The overall service was good, and having the whole back space to ourselves was a nice touch. However, the food did not meet our expectations. The paella, which we knew would take 45 minutes, had too much tomato sauce, making it overly sour. Unfortunately, the other dishes also came out very slowly. The sangrias were quite disappointing, lacking any wine or alcohol taste. On the plus side, we were able to bring our own cake with a $2 per person fee, which seemed fair. Overall, the experience had its highs and lows. 2 stars for the good service and private space.

If you are spanish do not go here. paella gave all my family members food poisoning, jamon was expensive for how little quantity there was. not a good representation of spanish food at all. (staff was nice and friendly tho)
