I came here late one evening on a weekday and enjoyed my experience! The interior of the restaurant is spacious, casual, and great for big groups. Service here was pretty fast. We ordered sake, takoyaki, agedashi tofu, gyudon/udon, and a variety of skewers. Everything was delicious. The skewers came in a good portion and the entrees were flavorful and huge plates. It was a great casual drinking and cozy vibe with friends on a rainy day.

Went last night for a friends bday. They were very accommodating. We ordered many skewers and appetizers tapas style. Every dish was great. We had a curry noodle dish as our "Pièce de résistance" . Comfort in a bowl. My friend enjoyed the soju as well.

I really enjoyed the food and and can find myself wanting to come back as a regular. The quality is great and has many options from small bites to larger portions. Drinks are available too.

Their $10 udon lunch specials are absolutely a bang for your buck! Generous portion size, thick udon with a satisfying chew, tempura was super crisp, and japanese curry had great flavor! The interior decor is also quite nice and adds to their ambiance! 4.5/5 Tempura Udon 4.5/5 Curry Udon

We tried many things and everything was great. The highlight was for sure the seafood pancake. Our waitress was amazing with helping us choose.

Found a Japanese gem on LES that's worth the trip from anywhere in the city! 🍣MUST-TRY DISHES: ✔️Asari no Sakamushi Linguine - Perfect fusion of sake-steamed clams with al dente linguine ✔️Karé Udon - Rich curry with thin-sliced beef that puts most curry houses to shame ✔️Temaki Set - Four incredibly fresh hand rolls with pristine fish (the scallop is divine) ✔️Salmon Salad - Scottish salmon with a citron tea dressing that's perfectly balanced DON'T MISS: Their ✔️green tea ice cream for dessert - nothing like the fake Häagen-Dazs version. This is the real deal with proper matcha intensity and complexity. The minimalist aesthetic perfectly matches the thoughtful, authentic food. Prices that make regular visits possible (shocking for NYC), and quality that rivals places charging twice as much. A standout in LES that actually delivers on both authenticity and value. Already planning my next visit to work through more of their menu!

I highly recommend Toriya. Delicious authentic yakitori with so many options it's hard to choose. They also offer larger plates and smaller appetizers as well. I had their seafood okonomiyaki which was wonderful. The drink menu is wonderful offering a good selection of Japanese beers, soju, and a very extensive and well crafted sake menu. Also I was seated immediately despite dropping in at a prime time on a Friday evening. The ambiance is very nice, well decorated with excellent choices in music that is not overly loud. The staff were all lovely and very attentive as well. Truly top notch all around.

All the food was really good! The service was amazing and they gave so many good recommendations. The atmosphere is perfect for pictures as it was decorated very nicely. We tried so many things and enjoyed all of them. The okonomiyaki had so much toppings in it and so did the gyuname. The drinks paired really well with everything and were really yummy themselves! There is a huge variety of skewers and they all had distinct individual flavors. The small additions of scallion and wasabi made it really tasty. I would definitely go back to try more of the menu items!

The food was fantastic. We came here recently for lunch and had - Gyū-Don, thinly sliced beef over rice. - Curry Udon, large noodles with a curry sauce and beef. - seaweed salad All were wonderful and VERY authentic, reminding me of when I lived in Japan.

Really good fairly cheap/reasonable priced Yakitori. It was my first time trying and I loved it! Came late night last Saturday and the place was fairly empty. We were served quickly and the food was good. They allowed us to get one more order in before the kitchen closed but did not rush us. The lychee lemonade was delicious I highly recommend. I recommend getting everything with the Tare sauce. It’s a bit dry on its own. Everything was juicy and crispy. I would definitely go back. We didn’t try any bowls or other dishes but it may have been because we went late at night. Would like to try more Japanese dishes.

The food was so delicious to me who lived in Japan for a long time. It was a well-cooked dish with good ingredients. I heard that whole chicken is trimmed every day to make skewers, and the leftover bones are used to make chicken stock for Motsunabe. Even I, who don't drink a lot, was able to take my children and eat deliciously. The interior of the store was nice and the servers were friendly. Will go back often.

I had a fantastic experience at this delicious izakaya! The variety of dishes I tried were all incredibly tasty, I couldn’t even have time to take pictures and I appreciated the friendly and attentive service from the waitstaff. Unlike many Manhattan Japanese restaurants, the spacious and hip atmosphere here was a pleasant surprise. Don't miss their happy hour from 5-7 PM, where you can enjoy $1 (for 3 pieces) of okonomiyaki

A Little Sister Shines Bright Toriya, the younger sibling of Midtown East's ToriBar, proves the adage that size doesn't matter. While smaller, Toriya delivers an equally impressive experience. Venturing through the Lower East Side, I stumbled upon this hidden gem, tucked away from the usual hustle. Toriya's exterior boasts a humble charm with a wooden door and simple decor. Stepping inside, however, reveals a surprisingly chic space. Neon signs bathe the room in a vibrant nightlife atmosphere, complemented by upbeat music. As an Izakaya-style restaurant, Toriya specializes in small plates, perfect for sharing. We eagerly dug into a selection of their offerings. First up, the fried squid: Presented with artistic flair, the squid fanned out like an Asian fan and arrived drizzled with a delicious mayo-soy sauce. A fantastic start! Next, the Yakisoba: This classic dish featured stir-fried noodles tossed with sliced pork, cabbage, and finished with a flourish of bonito flakes. Simply fantastic. The fried eggplant: This dish offered a delightful textural contrast between the juicy eggplant and the crunchy panko coating. Irresistible! Beef Tongue: Oh. My. God. This is a must-try! (Note: Budget friendly, YEah!.) Mentaiko Sausage: A first for me, this sausage packed a flavorful punch, especially when paired with the accompanying mayo and cucumber. This one deserves all five stars! Slider: This miniaturized Tonkatsu burger, while tasty, was a bit on the small side and slightly difficult to eat due to its construction. Still, the flavor shone through. Steamed Clams: Fresh and juicy, these clams weren't overly watery and came beautifully garnished with scallions and thinly sliced chili. Delicioso! Skewers Galore: The skewer selection offered a delightful variety: grilled pork, meatballs, chicken gizzards, eggplant, bacon, and the list goes on! Toward the End. While I can't recall every single dish due to the sheer volume of deliciousness, I left Toriya with a satisfied and happy belly. This hidden gem will definitely be on my top list for future Lower East Side explorations. Highly recommended!

Dining at Toriya was quite a remarkable experience! The restaurant is spacious and the decor was so nice. It would be a great place for date night, dinner with friends or a place you can bring the kids. We ordered a lot of different yaki tori and dishes and nothing disappointed.

Such a wonderful restaurant! if you are looking for the best Japanese Yakitori Bar, this place would be it. I had Otsnabae and several yakitori, it was fantastic. Not only that, mood was also very good for me to spend quality time with my friends.

Great food! Very friendly and welcoming owner! The yakitori tasted great and quality of the chicken was exceptional. Very authentic Japanese izakaya experience! The owner was so kind and even gave us a free side of purple sweet potato fries which were perfectly crispy and delicious without being too oilly! Very good and I highly recommend the yakatori ! We order chicken breast, heart and liver and it was all incredibly tasty. I will definitely be coming back it’s well worth that walk down Stanton street if you are in the area!

Really good food and friendly staff. We ordered the tofu seaweed salad, yalisoba, and a pajeon seafood pancake. The seaweed tofu salad was served in four individual spoons and was absolutely delicious. The yakisoba was perfectly spiced and the park value was delicious. Definitely coming back here to try some of the other stuff on the menu.

Popped in for some skewers around 4:45pm(?) on a Sunday — first time, atmosphere very cool and warm Everything we got was tender, well-seasoned, and delicious. Drinks tasty too. Service pleasant and food arrived quickly. Definitely, definitely coming back again in the early evening next time I'm in this area.

Thinking back still makes me laugh a little. There were 4 of us, and the other 3 all ordered rice bowls. After the first bite, they each had this kind of indescribable look that said a lot without words. I ordered teppanyaki, which came out much later after everyone had finished their bowls. The server brought me a free bowl of miso soup to make up for it. The food itself was fine, nothing special. Overall, the place feels more like somewhere to drink and hang out than a restaurant meant for really enjoying the food
