Kings X classic spot. 5 stars but would give 10 if I could
This is a cute little diner next to a bar. The food is excellent. My favorite dishes are machaca plate or burrito, Lucy's Burger and Tacos Antonia. I would post pictures but I already ate my food.
Always love coming here, good people and a good bar vibe. Has a real TX feel to it. Also the promotions are great. Sometimes it gets busy, but that is nothing to take out on the workers. Great place!
An old El Paso neighborhood bar with local bands every Friday and Kareoke every Saturday. Fun place for El Paso High or Coronado Reunions! Lucy's bar has a flavorful menu to choose from varied Mexican dishes.
The food has real authentic flavor and you can tell it’s a true family restaurant. Service was excellent—everything felt fresh and homemade. The beans especially were so delicious! They start you off with chips and soup, and our drinks came out really fast. We didn’t have to wait at all, just snacking and enjoying while our meal was being prepared. Such a great experience! – Honest Twins Mom 👩👧👦 Las Vegas
I was in El Paso to visit friends and the King’s X was a place that caught my eye as being a cool neighborhood place. I stopped in to see for myself and I was not disappointed. Great atmosphere. A friendly staff and customer base. It felt like a comfortable old shoe and will definitely be on my visit list whenever I’m in town.
Everything was 5 star except for the seats in the bar area. They are old, probably as old as the bar itself and offer very little back support when dining. I'm not sure if that's by design or when the patrons are intoxicated and don't care where they sit, but to a sober customer, they're uncomfortable. Other than that, the place is your much loved, classic dive bar.
I love King's X, I've known about this place primarily because of "Lucy's" since the early 90s, when I used to work right down the street with Dr. Llamas. (RIP) where we would visit during our lunch break. The place hasn't really changed much, other than the outdoor patio, which is just okay, nothing to write home about. This patio is pretty large with tables and chairs, but feels somewhat lonely and detached from the bar. The interior of the bar, hasn't changed much either, it feels familiar. I did notice a few new things in the bar, such as a drum set, (near the front) which makes me think they might have live entertainment on the weekends. At the rear of the bar I noticed "Las maquinitas", or casino machines, a couple of pool tables, darts, and even a shuffleboard. (My favorite) We were there early evening Sunday, so there was plenty of room, and all games where readily available. We hunkered down at the bar area, where they gladly took our order from Lucy's, which happens to be connected directly to King's x. I am one of those persons who usually sticks to favorites, so naturally I ordered a plate of "Taco's Antonia" (my favorite) while my husband ordered burger and fries. I'll try to be brief, these tacos are the best tacos in El Paso. If you are a local and have not had the opportunity to try these tacos, I highly recommend you make an effort to visit Lucy's, these tacos are so delicious. The "desebrada" meat, is soft juicy and delicious. The taco shell is seasoned with some spices that are visible (in color) and most definitely noticed by your taste buds, on the inside, there is a nice crunch that comes from the cabbage & tomato (yes, cabbage) that when come together, is heaven in your mouth. The burger & fries were fine too. To wash is all down, a bloody Mary or beer, which are both on The Happy Hour menu. Overall, good time, delicious food, plus not to mention "Steelers Nation" (My favorite) GO STEELERS!
The main reason I like this restaurant is their Tampiqueña plate-- it is pretty good, is a pretty big portion, and is a great value. My Son and I both ordered the same, with a tea, and the tab was on $25!! At most other Mexican restaurants that would cost $40-$50. The taste is pretty authentic Mexican too. :-)
The drinks were cheap but the liquor tasted watered down. So i guess you get what you pay for. The bartender kind of ignored us so i didnt feel inclined to leave a good tip. The food was great tho and so was the vibe. Definitely a chill place to hang out and do karaoke
I really enjoy visiting this establishment during the day - the daytime bartenders are fantastic and provide excellent service. However, my experience during evening hours has been consistently disappointing due to unprofessional service from one particular bartender named Taylor, who tends to be rude to most customers. Despite the competitive drink prices, quality service matters more to me and my clients. I’ve decided to take my business elsewhere. Great bartenders are essential in this industry, and unfortunately, the evening service doesn’t meet the same standard as the daytime staff.”
I'm not a regular, so I guess that's why I got the crap service that particular night. Still not a good excuse. I'll never go back again, even though I'm a Steelers fan.
Worst experience I have ever had at a bar! The bartenders looked so miserable and very unfriendly. Can’t blame them fully, packed bar, no bar back but don’t treat your customers unkindly when you choose this place of business to work. Customer service seems to be the down fall to this bar.
Got a check for $91 but my card showed a charge of $109, thats a 20% over charge, feels like the owners daughter found a way to force a gratuity charge thinking she could get away with it. I was going to tip her properly but after showing her that my card got charged $18 dlls more than my actual check, she gave me non-sense answers about it. Its a shame such a beautiful bar let's bartenders operate like this. Specially when its the owners daughter.
We came to celebrate a friend's bday but the bartender had a really bad attitude we told her if she had happy hour but she gave us 3 different amounts on the beer so we not sure if it was happy hour. We were happy to come cause we always have a good time and the other bartenders are really nice. But this one was really bad and she ruin our nite for her attitude. Also heard she was the owners daughter.
Taylor. The worst bartender ever!! Takes advantage of being the owner's daughter to mistreat customers, she purposely makes customers wait to be served.
Repeated bad service from the only male bartender with dread locks!! Waited to be served cuz that was His section said the other female bartender!! I’m a repeating customer since 1992. Lived in Dallas for years n ur place would be my first stop!! Today will be my last!! 😡😡
The food at Lucy's is great! The service at the bar, not so much.. Nearly all the staff provides poor service, they all look pissed off all the time, constantly have to yell out to get service..One would think that with the owner and his daughter there, things would pep up, but she's part of the problem, and it trickles down to the rest of the staff.. I've been coming here about 26 years, but I will no longer tolerate rudeness and bad service.. Peace..
Sam provided terrible service as a bartender, and apparently the owner is okay with that. Had the worst attitude and should never serve again. He purposely would ignore my requests for drinks without any merit. For the record, on my Google review for this mess of a place, I’m not sure whom the owner talked to but I was not told to leave as I left on my own. Otherwise, it’s definitely a lie from the owner himself to save face, which isn’t helping resolve the real issue(s). As a business owner myself, I can see how this bar has stayed stagnant for years apparently, without much growth. I’ve never had service where I had to literally raise my hand just to get the bartender’s attention, several times at that. This place is extremely unprofessional and that kind of demeanor should NEVER be tolerated at a workplace, even for a rundown bar. Word of advice: it should be wise to get our facts straight before simply “hearing” about things, and then proceeding to try and protect your already inadequate staff. Do better, get your staff to work on their customer service skills, and make sure they’re doing their job professionally before others start complaining about it as well. I highly don’t recommend this place. Everyone else can do better, unless you’re okay with bad service, horrible seats and furniture that can cause injuries, and a mediocre atmosphere.
